Ungaro Coal Fired Pizza Cafe

This is by far the best food I have ever had on the Island. Their calamari, pasta (penne vodka was my favorite), pizza…. All tasted amazing. I will definitely be coming back to this place. Invite your whole family, that way you can order family size meals and get a taste of EVERYTHING.

The pizza was amazing and the ambience was wonderful. The staff was very helpful and professional. This was service with a smile. The food was of good quality. The restaurant was very clean. I will highly recommend this place.

This place is absolutely phenomenal! My boyfriend and I travelled from Canada to Staten Island, where we discovered this beautiful family ran establishment. Together, we shared a meatball panini sandwich and a cherry tomato/burrata cheese pizza! By far the best pizza and meatball sandwich we ever tasted! Everyone was so pleasant to deal with, especially our lovely, beautiful server, Kim! Anyone reading this, you better make sure to check this place out!

Wow, wow, wow! This local pizzeria is an absolute gem! The flavors are out of this world, not just in their amazing pizzas but also in their mouthwatering wings. I've sampled plenty of food in my time, but everything here is so good that we couldn't even pause for proper photos - it was gone too quickly! You can tell the owners have pizza in their blood; their passion shines through in every dish and their top-notch customer service. The ambiance is cozy and inviting, with a quiet sit-down café vibe that makes it the perfect spot to enjoy the best coal-fired pizza this side of the Mississippi. The thin crust square white pizza with a hot honey drizzle has a great combination of sweet and savory flavors. The jumbo stuffed artichoke, loaded with breadcrumbs, is definitely a standout and worth ordering by itself! Will definitely get it again!

Wow! I haven’t had a pizza this good in such a long time! If you’re going here definitely order the Four Corners Pizza(the pesto corner was my favorite)! Super super yummy, definitely making a trip back for this. Also the staff was super nice and friendly :)

i’ve had plenty of vodka pies and sauce on the island and this is by far the best i’ve had not only on the island but ever! the appetizers are amazing also and it’s 1 of our favorite places to eat now on the island. Staff was great and the wait time wasn’t bad at all.

This place is my favorite pizza spot and it's not even for the pizza... THE BUTTERNUT SQUASH soup is top tier. The restaurant is so cozy and the employees are so friendly. I love it here. What we ordered: Butternut Squash Soup ($10): this soup is a must if you come here. It is soo creamy!! And you have to get the prosciutto on top. Amazing! Been thinking about this soup ever since Meatball ($15): we were able to get one meatball with marinara and one with vodka sauce. They were both really good and the meatball is hugeeee. Buffalo Coal Fired Wings ($16): the wings were okay. Not my favorite but that's because I like super crispy wings. But this taste like any other buffalo wings Meat is at the corner pizza ($30): was really good and the cheese pull was insane. Definitely love being able to taste different varieties.

Excellent Pizza , that's reasonably close by. No, it's not the best I've ever eaten but it's definitely solid and better than most. Will be back

Run don't walk to support this local business... the quality of the food was superb from our first bites of our appetizer of mozzarella and tomato then Meat Lovers Pizza and finally our Chocolate Mousse! ( posted a few photos - more next time!) They had seasonal specials too! The music added to a perfect ambiance of classic Italian! The team was very kind and saw the owner and manager floating around which always brings me joy as they are truly local!

Very good pizza with a very good tomato sauce. Eager to go back for a pasta dish. Large menu. Very good wings, Stuffed Artichoke and rice ball. Nice atmosphere, well decorated with good vintage Italian restaurant music in the background (Sinatra, Dean Martin). Only drawback is it's small, not much seating.

Got a chance to sit down at the pizza cafe. Excellent food and great service. Very personable to my party of 5. Also showed love to grandson of 7 months.

Wings were sensational. Some of us weren't as excited about the pizza but it was definitely good. Service was pleasant and timely. Very cozy and inviting atmosphere.

Last night we confidently ordered from Ungaros again because our first experience was awesome. But this time the Pizza was dry, burnt & then not even crispy, it was just dry, tough & chewy. In the 2 orders of wings, we ordered, there were some pieces that were undercooked & had a strange taste. We threw a couple out & had to cook the rest thoroughly. I don't know what happened this time. But we were disappointed. I honestly gave them 2 stars out of consideration & the prompt delivery.

This is a small cozy place and you can see how hard the folks work here. My son raved about this place so we had to go. We got caesar salad and the dressing had a smoky flavor which was delicious. Next a side of eggplant rollatini and the sauce was slightly sweet, again great. And the pizzas were amazing thin crispy crust yet tender. i don't t know how they do it! We saw someone order the artichoke and it looked amazing. Friendly service and no upcharge for using g a card!

This place never misses! Delicious food, friendly staff, great service. I have been ordering since they opened, it's about time I left a review, they have consistently given me a great experience!!! I highly recommend!

I had dinner here last night with friends. Everything was delicious! Best ricotta rice balls ever. What a treat to have panelle special sandwich on the menu. DELICIOUS! I'm definitely coming back here. And I live in Manhattan. But definitely worth the trip. Forgot to mention the service was excellent and atmosphere lovely.

Great pizza in a casual atmosphere. Service is good and the dining room is comfortable. I had a coal fired half vodka half traditional pie and a glass of wine. The pizza is thin crust but still a substantial slice.

Ok so starting off with what we came in for, THE FOOD. . .Amazing. Simply delicious. Staten Island has great Italian spots but this is now one of my favorites. The BRICK OVER PIZZA. We ordered 2 pies, a small vodka and the upside down pie. Cooked to perfection, crispy and doughy at the same time. The sauce was so tasty. kisses to the chef. The owner and the employees -such nice, welcoming people. Thank you for your service! The atmosphere- so cozy, so warm, so cute! You have us as re occurring customers! We will be back!

Got large pizza and a chicken panini. Panini is better than pizza. Overall mediocre food. Service however is a failure. My order got mixed up, when I mentioned what I picked up was not my order I got yelled at. Asked them to fill my water bottle with tap water, they looked at me like I was an alien. Place is small, employees seem to be doing their best though they have to do much better.

One of my favorite all around restaurants particularly since it is walking distance from my apartment. Dominic and Kim always have this place running top notch at all times and the atmosphere is always jovial. This place must be checked out!

Delicious luncheon at Ungaro! Roast beef and mozzarella topped with brown gravy, grilled chicken panini with pesto and sun dried tomatoes finally, a panel Le!! Glorious lunch!! Don't walk, run... to try this pizzeria --- it's honestly what we needed on the north shore of Staten Island. While we are overloaded with pizza places every corner, this coal fired, ultra tasty, crispy pizza is a breath of fresh air and stands out. Secondly, the panelle, one of the best panelle sandwiches I've had in my life. Everything I ordered was so delicious and I saw on instagram they're serving beer and wine in house so I can't wait to dine in!

Just had Ungaro's tonight for the 3rd time with my kids and it was just as great as ever. Kids are tough critics for pizza, but they loved it. They just have to work on the pronunciation of the name. I love driving back into the neighborhood I grew up in to support local family businesses as my family was in I know all to well how challenging it can be especially with regards to location. This place never disappoints. It's comfortable and quaint, always well lit with some classic Italian tunes on and the food knocks it out of the park. We enjoyed a classic cheese pie and mozzarella sticks, a must for my kids, and I got for the third time this fig and cheese app on crostini bread with a honey and glaze drizzle. Ming ! My only complaint is a kitchen staff member was taking a break while I was eating with my family and total disregard blasting some telemundo crap from two tables away at full volume. I was about more than halfway done but it totally messed up the vibe. Dinner with the kids, drizzling outside, they had a long day were talking about the neighborhood and Boom just a total left field hit of some random telemundo or something. And he had the phone propped up on a bottle of iced tea so I said to myself " well this experience has just ended ". I asked the waitress who was lovely if that man worked there she said yes so I asked her to take care of it and she did. If it was a regular patron I would have been polite and asked them to cut it. Now listen, I get it. The guy is taking a break and it's a small place. I just hate when workers do things they wouldn't do if the owners were there. The guy even turned the phone back on but lower about 15 minutes later, I could hear it dude !! That's rude! Bring some headphones to work. Business is hard enough without ownership having to worry about a rogue dishwasher not giving a rats ass about their business and what they are trying to build. Anyone ever experiencing this, say something right away. Can't wait to be back in the neighborhood and try some new things.

What a great place to get some of the best pizza around. Pizza is done to perfection very crispy and it's an upscale slice as they must be using all of the best ingredients . Not greasy at all and a great ratio of cheese & sauce . Both the round & square pies were perfectly made . Tried 2 different style of wings and both hit the spot . The wings with the long hots are a must to try . Not a pizzeria for slices it's more of a very cozy restaurant with upscale pies .

First Time, Will Go Back Again For Sure! Pizza was Excellent: Crispy Crust, Sweet Sauce, Plenty of Cheese, Great Flavor! My Wife had a Roast Beef Sandwich, She Loved It! Friendly and Personable Staff, The Owner Kim was there, She was So Nice too! Highly Recommend!

Chose this restaurant to celebrate an early Galentines day with my friends and we had a fantastic time! The restaurant itself is small and intimate, has a nice rustic feel to it with the brick ovens. We really enjoyed dining here, and the cucumber infused water was a major bonus :) We came specifically for the sampler pie or better known as the "Four Corners" pie, which is a 16 slice pie with marinara, pesto, ricotta and vodka. This is a MUST get!!! Oh my goodness so good, hard to pick which one was the best because they were all incredible, and for $25 you can't beat it. The mozzarella carozza was also a great appetizer choice! Overall 10/10 experience, and the staff were all so friendly! Will definitely be back :) Love Ungaro!

Wow! I've been eying this place for a while and finally pulled the trigger! Before I get started on the topic at hand, I'll Mention i think i spoke with the owner and he was lovely! (He called to verify my address before running circles around the wrong street) We ordered the Ungaro house insalata with lemon vinaigrette to feel somewhat healthy (recommend adding Parmesan); was delicious! For the main course, we ordered a half Bianca half vodka pie. Let me tell you, I could feel the love in this pie! The crust was one of the best I've had in a while! Perfect "undercarriage" as Dave portnoy would put it. The sauce, cheese and flavoring was so thoughtful and exceptional. I am so happy I chose Ungaro as my last hurrah before starting keto because it was worth every bite!! Can't wait to order again for the rest of my family and watch from a distance!

Adore their heart shape pizza Pro : quality toppings. Got 4 kinds - their meats and sauces are top notch Meh: pizza breading is good but slightly chewier compare to other spots on the island

Amazing pizza, always arrives warm and delicious. Also, get the flat bread, huge portion and great marinara sauce.

Everything was fresh and delicious. And, to top it off, the pizza has that amazing taste that you can only get from a brick oven. Might be my new favorite pizza on Staten Island. (I'll need to go a couple more times before it can claim the title!) They've been open for about 9 months now and you can easily see how popular it has become by all the pick-ups and deliveries. We will be back very soon to try the squares and paninis.

Update: after much discussion the decision is that we're not planning on returning to Ungaro for 2 specific reasons. First, the prices are excessive. We simply can't afford to drop $70 for a lunch menu for 2 retirees. Their food may be good but $10 apps and $10 desserts, etc. are painful prices to pay. Secondly, the dining area is so close to the kitchen and oven that your clothes have to go directly to the laundry afterwards due to being saturated with food odors. There's apparently no efficient kitchen exhaust system even though it's directly open to the tables. Add that price to the overall expense of eating here and it's convinced us to do more home cooking instead.

This is definitely one of my favorite places!!! The owners are so welcoming and friendly, the staff are attentive and always smiling!! NOW for the incredible food, the menu is packed with amazing dishes and the PIZZA is just freaking perfect! The risotto balls are always flavorful and addicting! Im obsessed with square pies. I honestly have not been this impressed in a while - they are consistent every time. The dining room is small and super cozy so I would suggest to go on a weekday. PS: I forgot to mention the coal fired wings!!!!

The best pizza on Staten islands North shore... I got a half white half traditional. Ordered ahead. Very friendly customer service and a clean Southern charm, but real New York pizza. I nearly gave up on Staten Island pizza bc it's always something. I love this place!

Ungarro is my favorite coal pizza spot. I am always satisfied with the pizza and their customer service is great. We especially like their pies cooked well done, and they know how to do it just right. Even on delivery if they take longer than expected (which happened 1 out of I want to say 20 deliveries) they will throw you extra food for the inconvenience. If you haven't tried their pie yet you have to!!

The pizza and service is amazing. We love their Bianca pie and vodka pie. The servers are always attentive and kind. Kim thank you for always making us feel at home. We love coming here.

I personally didn't care for the wings but that is just me. My husband liked it. The pizza was good. Would definitely go back and try other items on menu.

Just order from Ungaro restaurant and the Grandma pie was delicious. The order came quickly and the pie was still hot.The girl on the phone was super nice. Haven't been to the restaurant yet but I know others who told me that it is a really nice place to eat.

Love this pizzeria Been living on Staten Island for 8 yrs and this is the first Pizzeria that satisfied my expectations. Have ordered delivery and also ate at the quaint location. The woman on the phone when I place my orders is an absolute doll. Keep up the great work and great pizza

Visiting from Arizona and wanted some great thin crust pizza and this place does not disappoint. The service is great. The food is great from appetizers to the pizza and don't forget the dessert. We had cannoli finish off a great meal. We will be back next time we're in town again.

Ordered 5 pies one sausage one pepperoni a margarita and two regular pies . They girl that answered the phone was super nice , I wasn't sure if they delivered but they did and I will never order from another pizzeria but Ungaros . The pizza was amazing and delievered like it just came out of the oven . Great service .I highly recommend Ungaros and the delivery guy was super nice and polite.

My brother came in from Florida and brought back some pizza left over from lunch with a friend . It was excellent !! We are both life long Staten Islanders grew up in Westerliegh Noth Shore 10314 has been our zip code for 49 years. This place did not disappoint !!!

Amazing family owned coal oven pizza, but it's so much more the meat balls are to tender and the sauce amazing. How my eye on like 10 other dishes I need to try. The service is above and beyond!

Newer spot was willing to give it a try and happy that I did. Pepperoni and sausage pizza is really good. They will be my go to.

Carried out Bianca, Traditional, and Grandpa pies. Everyone in my family agreed -- the pizza was just okay. The Bianca was the best of them, though the ricotta tasted straight out the container (which is to say, unseasoned). The Grandpa was good, and Traditional was just okay. Crust took a bit of a jaw workout. Far from the worst pizza I've had on the island though. I expected more since the reviews on here are really good. Still, I'm willing to try it again one more time. Wait wasn't too long and the staff is really friendly.

We used yelp to find a highly rated pizza place on Staten Island. We went to one place that did not look good at all. Then we went to Cafe Ungaro. Wow! From the second we opened the door we knew we were in for a treat. Kim, the owner, was so welcoming. We ordered a salad, two pizzas and eggplant rollatini. A square thin crust which was a sampler of 4types including a margarita, pesto, white and vodka sauces. And a regular white pizza which was my favorite. Loved the House salad with lemon vinaigrette. Amazing! So delicious! Highly recommend! Service was fast and friendly. Wish we lived closer. Will definitely return when we are on SI!
