Unicorn Bar

We went for a very fun dance evening in this local gay bar. Folks were really friendly, the music was fun, the bar was crowded but with no waiting for drinks. Mostly gay guys, but some gay women, and probably some straight folks too but who can tell, these days? :-)

Lovely selection of craft cocktails and mocktails. So far my favorites have been the Leona, and the lavender menace. Edit: under the current iteration of the menu, my faves have been the butch rhapsody, the lady grey, the golden hour, the lover club, the maraschino, and the sweet Jane! This place has quite the array of events! Be sure to check out their website or their instagram to find out what’s going on and plan your visit accordingly! Trivia, dancing, music, holiday markets… the sky’s the limit on what could be happening at the unicorn! I have only 2minor critiques: 1) the tap list isn’t always right… be flexible 2) the food situation… the snacks are good, but if you need something substantial I would suggest grabbing something before you arrive.

This is bar none my favorite local spot! I always feel welcomed here and am never disappointed. They absolutely have a lot to offer- from a fantastic cocktail and mocktail menu to tasty snacks and comfortable seating to great events that make you want to get out on the dance floor- there is something special about this place! Thank you for being there for everyone Unicorn- and I can’t wait to be back again!

stopped in for a drink tonight and the the staff decided to go in on my friend who had a ripped id. while i understand laws are laws that was a CHOICE. going in on a perfectly good id just because you have two out of state grad students and one of them just so happens to have a slightly damaged id (minimal damage) the service was absurd and genuinely condescending. keep in mind its hard to get new ids when you’re living out of state for an extended period of time. now the real issue was that as this conversation was happening the bartenders continued to swipe my card and ask for a tip for a drink i didn’t get to touch. why continue making a drink and serving half of a party when you see this interaction. continuing with my transaction was uncalled for when you know we are not intending on staying. thanks for making a drink and charging for something we didn’t get to enjoy. a refund would be appreciated but an apology for the way my friend was treated would go much further.

I always enjoy an outing at Unicorn. A neighborhood bar focusing on the LGB community, but it is frequented by everyone. The bartenders are always friendly, drinks are great. Unicorn serves up interesting dance parties and live acts. Bar and bathroom is always clean.

What a great neighborhood gem!!! This bar delivers in so many ways. Three great rooms with different vibes, great cocktails, and a wonderful homey feel. The crowd is great and chill. So happy this place is finally open.

This place is amazing. Warm, welcoming and a terrific crowd. It’s unique in our area and we couldn’t be happier that we have a space to call our own in Kingston. Thanks, Unicorn Bar!
