We came to this restaurant to grab a quick dinner in the area on a hot summer evening. Even though we showed up without reservations, seating was not too hard and the wait was not too long.
The restaurant is absolutely beautiful inside and the outside area was also very nice with a beautiful covered porch and well scattered tables. It might be the New York in me, and the fact that I am not as acclimatized to Texas Summers anymore, but when we got to our outside table and sat down, it felt like I was going to die. I really do think that the misters and whatever situation they have for climate control on the outside Porch are simply not enough and they definitely need to add more fans.
To start off, I ordered the dry rubbed chicken wings that were absolutely phenomenal, they were cooked perfectly, and I loved the dusting on them. Beer were served cold, but lacked foam on top, which makes it go warm quicker.
For my entrée, I went with the trout and was slightly disappointed. The flavors sounded delicious on paper, but did not work too well for me. The slaw was on the dry side and could've used a lot more of that lemony sauce. Arugula was largely missing from the plate and the texture of those dried chickpeas was way off, I would rather prefer them to be crunchy, than dehydrated and soft. They literally added nothing to the dish. The filet of trout itself was cooked very well. I loved the cornmeal dusting and the crunchiness that it added to the exterior of the fish.
For dessert, we went with the brownie and I absolutely loved the textures on it. The ice cream paired well, and I loved the little bits of toffee. This was definitely a texture girlie's dream. Overall, I would say this restaurant was a hit or miss, and I hope that they can make some improvement based on my feedback.
