Union Bear Brewing - McKinney

We visited Union Bear for the very first time to celebrate my birthday in December and overall it was a really nice experience. The atmosphere and vibe are amazing warm, lively, and a great spot for a celebration or night out. The space itself is definitely a standout and sets the tone right away. The chips and queso were the highlight for me. The chips are really good fresh, crisp, and perfectly seasoned and the queso was easily my favorite thing we ordered. My entrée was okay, not horrible by any means, but not something I’d personally order again. That said, I noticed several other items on the menu that looked really good, so if I’m back in the area, I’d be open to trying something different next time. Overall, Union Bear in McKinney is worth checking out for the great atmosphere, fun vibe, and solid appetizers. While my meal wasn’t a home run, the experience itself was enjoyable, and I can see why this place is popular. Would recommend for the ambiance and starters, especially if you’re celebrating something special.

The chicken was delicious, especially for a dry rub—cooked perfectly and full of flavor. The Caesar salad was also great, and even though it was on the smaller side, it was plenty. I ordered the New York Strip medium rare, but it came out closer to well done. The steak itself wasn’t the best, and by the time I got to the fries, they were soggy, which was disappointing. On the positive side, the service was excellent—friendly and attentive. Be sure to call ahead or make a reservation, as the wait can be 30–35 minutes.

Beautiful space and great food. Originally tried the plano location & the brunch/service put us off, but so glad we decided to give the McKinney location a go. I think this location is so much better & made us want to become regulars . Everyone is always so nice & we usually don’t wait long for a table. They easily made some of their mixed drinks non alcoholic (The honey bear was so good). We’ve had several of their dishes & dessert. Always leave full & happy. Plus enough food that I personally always have leftovers. My only “call out” is if you sit in the booth straight as you walk in to the left . Some of the windows during certain times of day allow the afternoon sun to beam you right on the eyes if you are tall & at night the one TV straight when you come in is so bright that I could see the chicago bears field logo when I closed my eyes.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Stopped into Union Bear Brewing Company in McKinney after an appointment and it did not disappoint. Sat at the bar and was immediately welcomed by Guillermo, who was awesome. The UB No Coast IPA was excellent, and his recommendation of the crispy chicken sandwich with Frank’s RedHot sauce was spot on. Great beer, great food, and top-notch service. I’ll definitely be back.

Really nice place to go and hang out and grab a drink. Plenty of tv to watch sports and nice set up. The vibe is super, loved the decor and atmosphere, light is nice a perfect dim you can read without making effort or turning your phone light on 🤣 Staff was nice too. Food was good

I cannot say enough good things about this place! The manager, Gabe and his staff are amazing! food and service are absolutely excellent! We had our wedding reception on the patio and it turned out perfect! Love this restaurant and you will too!

Our first visit to McKinney & wanted to check out Union Bear on a Saturday afternoon. The weather was a bit warmer, so all the windows were open, and a light breeze added to the ambiance. Food was extremely fresh & tasty, and the ales were fantastic. Service was top tier, and our only complaint were the flies. Sadly, it did take away from experience, hopeful they can find a timely resolution.

First time here and we'll definitely be back, even though we live in Flower Mound. The atmosphere is so engaging with some large sharing tables besides individual tables, bar seating and outside seating. The pretzel bites were fantastic along with beer cheese and spicy mustard. The burger is juicy and flavorful and the corned beef was lean and super tasty with the kraut and some spicy mustard. The lemon blueberry cake (pictured below) was divine with just the right amount of sweet and lemon. Their fall drinks are new so consistency was a tad off, but Reid was proactive in getting the manager and Gabe fixed it. The Pear-ly Jam was terrific. Everyone is friendly and Kayla also stepped in to grab things since it was very busy. The staff couldn't have been more attentive including the lovely ladies seating people. A terrific experience and highly recommended!!!

Our server Reed was incredibly accommodating and gave some fantastic menu recommendations!! He was very responsive and checked in timely throughout the night. We will definitely be back!

Katelyn was our server tonight and I can honestly say she was the best server I have ever experienced. Not only was she quick to the simple things such as refills and check-ins, she also made the experience for us as a whole. She was so kind and ensured our food was to the nines and quick. Katelyn was entertaining and energetic, and I would highly recommend requesting to sit in her section to get the full Union Bear experience!

My experience in union Bear was amazing! Not only did I have the best service from Cynthia, but her recommendation of the Korean shrimp tacos were amazing. Would recommend to anyone!

We have absolutely no complaints! We came on a whim on a Saturday and I forgot to take pictures because we were enjoying it so much. First of all, sit on the heated patio. It's Texas in the winter, you will be fine. But in all seriousness it is enclosed and the heaters keep you comfy. Second, the chicken fingers are the most juicy chicken fingers that you'll ever have. Also what place these days gives you the superior dipping sauces that you have to have and need when enjoying a dish of this caliber! Also, the Brussels sprouts slaw was so good our 10 month old devoured it with the chicken fingers. The Caesar salad was needy level. Again, if a place gives you fresh cracked pepper on your Caesar, you must return. It is law. This salad was amazing, and the Parmesan was even flavorful. Who says that? We also got the strawberry paper plan, don't get if you want something sweet. But if you're a real one who likes a Savory drink, DO IT!! We will be back!

Quite good; diverse menu with great options and of course an incredible beer selection. Service is snappy and crisp - very attentive staff / reflecting great management! Food quality is good; order the loaded chips as an appetizer and you may not order anything else! Good staff good food and great location in McKinney- small parking lot so get there early ! Ambience is a tad loud when they are packed - beautiful patio for outdoor dining as well.

Stopped by for the first time to eat lunch today and we loved it. Quick seating, great atmosphere, and our waitress, Kennedy, took amazing care of us. We had the pretzel bites to start, then for entrees: fish & chips (great batter) and the grilled pork chop. Everything came out hot and was so delicious! My partner had a couple beers, and I tried the Pear-ry Jam and Falling Leaves cocktails from the seasonal menu. Both were incredible! We both left happy, full, and ready to come by again soon!

Came here on a crowded afternoon, so get a reservation if possible because we were able to be seated immediately at our reservation time. There are a ton of drink options, and the Union Bear sour beer is delicious! For appetizers we got the Mediterranean platter and it was great. The burger and Brussel sprouts were also fantastic. The best part about the restaurant though had to be how quick the service was. It was full and it must have taken 5 minutes to get our food after ordering. We will definitely be back, it's a great place to come and spend an afternoon!

We decided to check this place out for dinner. Service was great as well as foods. The salad dressing was amazing. It was a zesty taste tgat was irresistible. The main dish was extremely flavorful, perfectly cooked beef. Ambiance was great with big screen tvs all around. We'll definitely come back!

Gorgeous space, superb staff, lovely food- vegan options!!! And good beer. Can't go wrong. I love their beer. Exited to come try their new McKinney location. So excited about the falafel burger. Salty but delicious!! Plant based goodness!! Patio sitting at its finest.

We had some friends visiting and we needed a place for an afternoon weekend outing. We decided on Union Bear Brewing and I'm glad we did. First and foremost the cocktails were great! We ordered from both the seasonal drink menu and regular and all around we were happy. I was a little skeptical about the pizza with it being deep dish, we were just looking for a small bite but after seeing it (our friend's ordered one) I will definitely be trying the white pie next time! The wings were quite salty and the fries were really nothing special, but at least they were crispy! None of the other appetizers really stood out to me though. The interior is really pretty and has a great patio. Great place to catch some sports with a friendly staff as well. They do have their own parking lot with maybe 10 spots otherwise there are other parking options like street parking and parking garages in the area.

First time trying this place and for the most part, enjoyed what we ordered. The decor is a modern lounge/bar and looked really nice. We sat on the patio as it was a nice day out. We started with a beer, a glass of wine, and a "caddy", which is similar to a frozen margarita. The caddy was quite sour and ok. This place didn't have any cider, but I think they may be looking into potentially offering one at some point. Food wise, we split a big tavern burger, which was cooked well and was quite tasty. The fires were probably my favorite. They were the size of McD fries, but really crispy! The crisp dry-sliced wings lived up to their name. They were incredibly crispy and jam packed with seasoning. IMO, they were heavily seasoned, but some might enjoy that. The service was great and I could see us going back at some point.

Food was passable Drink was too sweet and beer was not as chilled as we would have like it. But overall not a bad place Service was good and ambience was quiet

Edit: Cynthia was our server and she was extremely helpful and friendly I forgot her name so I had to ask when we got our bill! The bar manager, Blake came by to check on us. They're still working out the kinks on some things, but we had an amazing experience overall. Our main dishes were so delicious! Blackened salmon with a spinach and arugula salad. YUM! Hubby's fish was battered perfectly and the fish was flaky and delicious. The view on the patio overlooks the park. We will be back!

The chicken tender was delicious; I definitely love the Brussel sprout slaw that came with it. The crunchy almonds in the slaw added the wonderful taste to it . My son got the pretzel bites, and it tasted okay , almost reminding me of baguette. I didn't care much for the beer cheese dip though. Place was full so we ended up sitting outdoors which was a little hot. They had shades and fans so it wasn't so bad despite the triple digit temp. The service was fast and our server was attentive. I wouldn't be opposed to coming back and trying other things. I saw some interesting and nicely plate food serve to other guests.

Spent a rainy afternoon here on a Sunday... and enjoyed our visit. We were sat right away and our waitress was super attentive and friendly. We both enjoyed a beer and a couple of appetizers. Their pretzel bites were good. Our other appetizer was okay... maybe on the stale side so we won't order that again. I liked the ambiance of the restaurant - from the decor to the overall vibe. I like the location too in downtown McKInney. If we were in the area, I'll surely swing by for another drink!

We came to this restaurant to grab a quick dinner in the area on a hot summer evening. Even though we showed up without reservations, seating was not too hard and the wait was not too long. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful inside and the outside area was also very nice with a beautiful covered porch and well scattered tables. It might be the New York in me, and the fact that I am not as acclimatized to Texas Summers anymore, but when we got to our outside table and sat down, it felt like I was going to die. I really do think that the misters and whatever situation they have for climate control on the outside Porch are simply not enough and they definitely need to add more fans. To start off, I ordered the dry rubbed chicken wings that were absolutely phenomenal, they were cooked perfectly, and I loved the dusting on them. Beer were served cold, but lacked foam on top, which makes it go warm quicker. For my entrée, I went with the trout and was slightly disappointed. The flavors sounded delicious on paper, but did not work too well for me. The slaw was on the dry side and could've used a lot more of that lemony sauce. Arugula was largely missing from the plate and the texture of those dried chickpeas was way off, I would rather prefer them to be crunchy, than dehydrated and soft. They literally added nothing to the dish. The filet of trout itself was cooked very well. I loved the cornmeal dusting and the crunchiness that it added to the exterior of the fish. For dessert, we went with the brownie and I absolutely loved the textures on it. The ice cream paired well, and I loved the little bits of toffee. This was definitely a texture girlie's dream. Overall, I would say this restaurant was a hit or miss, and I hope that they can make some improvement based on my feedback.

I had ex excellent experience at Union Bear yesterday evening. I had never been to this or any other location, but was in historic McKinney and decided to give it a try. I was assisted by two hostesses, and both were very friendly and welcoming. My waiter was also very friendly and helpful. I sat in the patio, which is slightly covered with fans, misters, and TVs. I ordered a sure house salad, and at the suggestions of my waiter, the reuben and the Whiskey Business cocktail. The food was great and came out quickly. My drink not so much.... At one point, a staff member came to my table with a bourbon flight. I told her I didn't order it. She looked confused but returned to the bar. I was almost halfway through my meal when my waiter approached me, apologizing about the drink. He said that he accidentally hit the wrong drink button for my order and that they were working on the drink I ordered. I appreciated him for apologizing and for taking accountability for the mistake. You have no idea how rare that has become at restaurants. I wasn't upset at all because he acknowledged this error. Two minutes later, my drink arrived and it was very good. It was a nice, flavorful, sweet bourbon drink that's great for the summer. I will absolutely be back to Union Bear! Highly recommend.

Was so excited to try this new spot in Mckinney Downtown, happy to report that I loved it. Great Ambiance and terrific cocktails! The strawberry paper plane is so so good! I normally don't order fruity cocktails but this was not too sweet but had a tangy subtle sweet taste, loved it! The cucumber jalapeño mule was good too. The Mediterranean plate is really really good, all the dips from Muhammara, hummus, Zough and baba Ghanoush were delicious! Highly recommend for drinks, food and ambiance!

We've visited Union Bear Brewing in McKinney three times now, and each experience has been great. One thing we've noticed and really enjoy is that the menu changes depending on the time of day. They offer a solid happy hour menu that's perfect for sharing bites and drinks after work, and they also have a late-night menu that makes it easy to grab something tasty after hours. The variety keeps each visit a little different, which makes it fun to come back. Between the food, drinks, and relaxed atmosphere, it's definitely a spot worth checking out whether you're stopping in for a casual lunch, happy hour, or a late- night snack

This place was 5 stars all around. The service, ambiance, and food. We got the wings to start followed by redfish and the tomato salad with salmon. I've been to a lot of restaurants in my life and this was one of my favorites. I don't live here and will dream about the Wings.

My first time in and I was impressed. They just opened so I expected everything to be on point, and they still exceeded expectations. I was sad they didn't have their stout on tap, but it is getting warmer outside and stout is a cold weather beer ( in my opinion ). Their No Coast IPA was very good. I also enjoyed their west coast IPA I ordered a burger which was amazing in every way. I'm excited McKinney has another Brewery in town, I'm not a fan of Tupps so this makes me happy.

McKinney, meet your new favorite hangout--Union Bear has arrived, and it's already a hit! From the outside, you might think the space is on the smaller side, but once you step inside, you're greeted with a surprisingly spacious interior adorned with stylish hunter green accents, reminiscent of the Plano location. And the patio? Way bigger than expected--definitely made for Texas evenings. We visited on a Wednesday night, and the place was buzzing. It felt like all of McKinney showed up to welcome them, and the energy was amazing. Even though it was just their second day open, the service was solid. The staff handled the crowd with ease, and the manager even stopped by to check in with guests--a nice, personal touch. We started with the chips and queso (highly recommend!)--the chips were crisp and the queso was rich and creamy. We split a pizza and asked for fresh-cut jalapeños, which they happily added. The crust was thicker than expected, but it totally worked--tasty and satisfying. We'll definitely be back for more. Union Bear McKinney is off to a strong start, and it looks like the community is here for it!

This location has been open for a few months now. Beautiful decor, great atmosphere fantastic service. Had a small meeting here, great spot for lunch and dinner. Jalapeño cucumber mule was delicious not to spicy but tasty. Chicken tenders were outstanding the breaded of the chicken was amazing, sides of any dipping sauces you like. Fries were just decent, the slaw was just okay more like Brussels sprout cabbage slaw. They have their own parking lot! Not much restaurant downtown McKinney have their own parking.

The cutest restaurant with fun vibes and the patio was a perfect get-together location with my girlfriends! Fun drink and food menu. The shrimp Korean tacos were a bit spicy but delicious! Also had great service

A perfect new addition to McKinney! Came on opening day, not expecting to get a seat right away, but was surprised and got a booth immediately. I ordered the fish and chips and was a little underwhelmed. The first bite of Cod was perfectly crusted but was a bit fishy, the fries tasted flat, and the brussel sprouts cole slaw was way too tangy and tough. We ordered the UB light draft beer, which was delicious. The interior was warm and inviting with lots of windows overlooking Mitchell Park and the bar area was excellent which opened onto the beautiful patio area. We will definitely be back to visit Union Bear as they are a welcoming addition to our neighborhood.

I have visited three times since they opened. Even on opening night they were well trained and personable. Alicia was our server night one and we had a party of six that she handled flawlessly. The appetizers that I have tried are the spicy shrimp, pretzel bites, queso/chips, and the green chili pork rinds. The first three listed here were outstanding and will definitely order again (and have). The pork rinds were too dry in my opinion. Drinks have been the honey bear on repeat and the skinny bear (nicely spiced). The vanilla sky was uber sweet, so it was a one and done. Cheeseburgers, chicken sandwich, and the white pizza have been the dinner orders here. All were excellent and will hit the rotation. Atmosphere here is exactly what downtown McKinney needed. Really nice restaurant, but casual. They slot nicely between a Lockwood/Spoons and Harvest/Ricks.

This was about the fourth time I've eaten at Union Bear in the McKinney Square and today I took my son for lunch. We had a lovely server, Kelsey and she was very knowledgeable about the menu and helped us decide. The food was delicious as always and we were free to sit and chat as long as we liked without being pressured to leave. Everyone, from the hostess to the manager were so friendly and warm, and made us feel so relaxed. This will be my go-to place to take friends and family from now on! Good job! Julie S.

A cut above for McKinney. We had one not-so-good experience but the GM got right on it. After that I had best burger I've had in ages, great service, excellent place. Highly recommended.

I love this new location! The ambiance is so nice - cozy and perfect for any type of dining experience. Food was so tasty, and the service was attentive. I will 100% be back! I'm so happy Union Bear made it to McKinney!

Overall good experience! Lots of beers you are able to try on tap. Bunches of different types. Service was friendly. Ambiance is fun and lively. I loved the decor. However I didn't think the food was anything special. That's not to say it was bad (it was normal), but I wouldn't come back for the food. For the ambiance/bar scene - yes, I'd come back.

Ambience and service are 9/10. Food quality was okay however. The garlic pretzels (appetizer) got too cold and hard quickly. Steak was a bit too chewy to my liking. Drinks only got better once they melted.

Had a great time with my wife and our two kids here! At first, felt like we cleared out the place bringing kids since no one else had any... but then??? The whole staff really took to learning about us and our children, a 6yr old boy and 7mo old boy! It invited the table behind us to taking interest and, as a family faced with many challenges beyond every day normality, they made us feel welcome! Kenzie was our server and she was great! She even spoke to us about another server wanting to hold our baby and it led to a great opportunity for us to get to know her! Overall, super thankful for the experience we had and looking forward to going back and seeing of Kenzie and her bf have caught a hockey game!

My redfish at Union Bear was devine. My husband also loved his fish and chips. The location was nice and we didnt have to wait too long (for outside) because it's such a huge place. I love the atmosphere and that outside had misters. The location is also nice right in downtown mckinney. I will say I was kinda disappointed by my old fashioned. As a menu item and a brewery I expected a little more flavor.

The hostess Kenzie was amazing for our large party. I ended up sharing this plate with my husband which was more than enough for two grown adults. Lol The jalepeño gravy was not spicy but had just enough of flavor to make this dish different. The steak was well cooked! Thank you.

The service was fantastic!! We went in for dessert and ordered both...and had no problem devouring them! Atmosphere was awesome and will definitely be going back! The manager Claire was excellent and so so kind! Do NOT pass up Union Beat!!

Another great restaurant from the folks at 33 Group. Love the layout and the menu. The UB beer is always on point. Hopefully our new mayor & city council members can address the parking issues the former regime helped create.

I had the salmon brussels sprout salad which is like a coleslaw. A good healthy option.
