Union Pacific Coffee is a fantastic spot for a fresh, delicious meal and a great cup of coffee! The wrap I ordered was packed with crisp, vibrant veggies and wrapped perfectly with a slight grill mark for added texture. The presentation was simple yet thoughtful, with a fresh orange slice on the side—such a nice touch! The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with rustic wooden tables that add to the cozy vibe. The staff was incredibly friendly, and the service was quick and efficient. My drink was served in a sturdy to-go cup, making it perfect for a relaxed dine-in experience or a grab-and-go option. If you're looking for a welcoming café with great food and coffee, this is definitely the place to visit. Highly recommend!

Google
A bustling, warm atmosphere that even includes a nice sheltered patio in the back. A vibrant variety of hot and cold foods, pastries, specials and drinks. Great service (even at full capacity the cashier asked me if I wanted sweetener with my matches latte) And clearly beautiful and mindful presentation in their drinks!

This cafe is definitely one of my top 3 favorites in Victoria! I've even purchased their coffee beans to enjoy at home. The atmosphere is incredibly charming, making it the perfect spot to relax and catch up with friends over a cup of coffee. I highly recommend it and wouldn't hesitate to send others here!

Google
A marvelous place for a coffee and snack! Charming interior, nice variety of eats, and perfect coffee. It's popular; it was busy on a Monday morning.

Google
Noisy, crowded, pastries not up to snuff. Not authentic french croissant pastry. Coffee ok but you can do better elsewhere. Servers and baristas do a good job.

Google
Great place for coffee and breakfast. There goodies are really great. They are making their croissants. Nice atmosphere with indoor and outdoor seating areas. The patio in their back yard looks really nice and fun. The service was ok but not friendly and smiley. The place was busy in the morning. Highly recommended.

Google
Local coffee shop vibes in the best way, somewhat hidden in the narrow brick alleys of Chinatown. Searching for a coffee to start my (one) day in Victoria brought me here since it's one of the first places that pops up when you search for coffee in the area. I was initially a little let down because when I didn't see the abundance of baked goods in person as I saw in some photos. But I guess that's because it was early afternoon, not the morning when I visited. I decided to just go with the drip coffee since there was a combo that came with their version of a bacon McMuffin (but much better). There were two options for the coffee and I went with the dark roast and for drip it was pretty good. The sandwich was bacon, egg, and cheese on an English Muffin. Very basic, but executed well and very hot. I also had the Cheddar & Onion scone which I asked them to warm up. I'm not sure if it's just me but it seems like baked goods around here are commonly served room temp. The scone was ok, had more onion than cheese flavor. Searching for the place was a little fun since you had to walk through the narrow brick alley to make your way there. Google Maps points you right way, so don't think you're lost when you are going through the narrow alleys. It's quite a spacious place with several communal tables as well as regular sized tables. There is also a good amount of patio seating. It's very cozy with its warm and brick interior. I could see this place being frequented by both locals and tourists. The staff was nice and they even brought the sandwich to my table. I could see myself coming back here when I'm back in Victoria. Hopefully, when I do I can catch them at a time when there are many baked goods. Cheers!

Google
Delicious healthy food, everything tasted really fresh, the matcha latte was delicious, and they serve JJ bean coffee. Fun environment and friendly staff, definitely worth visiting

Yelp
Great place to chill and have a delicious coffee treat! The service is fast and professional! The food items are made to order so you will wait a little while, but well worth the wait! We had the salmon and it came with cream cheese, capers, cucumbers, and pickled onions. This was the first time I ever had cucumbers on my lox bagel, but I must say this was a great touch!

Yelp
I can't say enough good things about Union Pacific Coffee Shop. It's a charming coffee shop! The red brick exterior gives it that wonderful old heritage building look that instantly draws you in. My visit here was very delightful. First off, there's always a line to order but it moves along quite fast. The pumpkin spice latte I ordered was unlike any I've had before - truly unique and bursting with the coffee and pumpkin flavour. It's a must-try for anyone looking for something special in the fall. The almond croissant here is one of my favourites! However, they sold out that day so I got a butter croissant instead, and it was so good! The friendly host was nice. Their hospitality and service was on point. What impressed me even more was the ample seating space. There are tables inside and outside, and the view overlooking Dragon Alley is adorable. Whether you're looking to work, catch up with friends, or simply enjoy a quiet moment alone, you'll find the perfect spot here. I highly recommend this coffee shop to anyone seeking a cozy atmosphere, exceptional drinks, and a friendly environment.

Yelp
Super busy place and for good reasons! We ordered the smoked salmon bagel, a maple latte and a chocolate walnut crunch scone - all fresh, flavorful and super tasty. Highly recommend!

Alef D.

Yelp
Delicious cute coffee shop tucked back behind China town along a small brick ally. Stopped in for a cold brew with almond milk to perk me up after lunch.

JC D.

Yelp
This is a nice coffee place. I've always loved the industrial look, exposed brick on the inside wall combined with wooden tables. It has big windows which lets a lot of ambient light in. The huge wooden beams accent the interior as well as water piping creatively used as plant shelves on the wall. There's plenty of seats. The crowd comes and goes and sometimes there's a long line but moves quite quickly because the staff is efficient. They are friendly too, smiles and genuinely talks to you. The ambient music also nicely blends in the background, not drowning your conversations. They have additional seats at the back in a nice patio that also leads to hidden alleys where you can discover other shops, something I appreciate about Victoria. Coffee is fresh and good sized. $3.75 for a 16 oz at the time of this writing. I can smell the aroma of fresh bagels. They serve sandwiches, wraps and salad. I just spotted smoked salmon bagel on the menu, my favorite. Will try that one out. Their pastries look freshly baked and not sitting in the display counter for days. Parking is always a premium in Victoria. There's a parking lot next door but there's always street parking, which is cheaper than the private parking lots. Download the Victoria parking app. It allows you to pay for parking remotely, and also reminds you when your time is about to expire and you can extend it using the app. Check this place out and bring some friends for a good conversation over a good cup of freshly made coffee!

Yelp
Great outdoor area and delicious food. The breakfast sandwich was amazing. Highly recommend!

Jessie W.

Yelp
I don't drink coffee so can't comment on a whole lot, but the store is quite aesthetic, and the back patio (part of Dragon Alley) is a nice quiet spot to hang. Lots of seating inside as well. Bonus for this non-coffee-drinker: their hot chocolate is très well priced ($3 for 8oz)! Only complaint: very limited opening hours (closes at 3 even on weekends).

Healthygirl O.

Yelp
Very hip cafe in a cool location in China town connected by alleys. A fun, bustling spot to meet a friend for lunch - not the best for working especially during lunch.

Mercedes L.

Yelp
Great breakfast and coffee spot. I really enjoyed the outdoor patio in the back. Servers/baristas were kind and friendly. My Ranchero Wrap was flavorful and well sized. The overall environment is welcoming and would make for a good spot to spend some time reading or studying. I would absolutely return when in the area.

Amanda B.

Yelp
Great coffee, great atmosphere. What else do you need?! I got the hazelnut latte. It was very good and they even did a little latte art on it even though mine was to go. There's a patio in the back which I thought was very cool for a coffee place.

Travis S.

Yelp
Great coffee and even better food. The fresh homemade croissants and scones were awesome. It was good enough that we came back the second morning rather than trying something different.

Rye S.

Yelp
Great coffee, consistently good each time we went. The bagel and lox was delicious and they have a few other yummy looking pastries. They also sell whole bean coffee.

Emmi T.

Yelp
When I found this place it was ranked number 14. I'm not the boldest lady so it makes me nervous to say... I think it should be #13.

Jamie O.

Yelp
Great spot for breakfast. Although the line was out the door, it moved quickly. We shared the smoked salmon bagel and another egg bagel sandwich along with two espresso drinks. Everything was very tasty, the prices good and service fast. Everything I desire in a cafe.

Christen W.

Yelp
This is the cutest coffee shop! I loved it. The lattes were really good. I will say I ordered them half sweet and there was hardly any sweetness to them so maybe just go for regular sweet because it won't be too much. The bacon breakfast sandwich on sourdough was delicious as was the scone. The ham and cheese croissant was tasty but would have been better if they warmed it up. I would definitely go back.

Barbara S.

Yelp
Hopping spot with coffee that is better than most on Victoria. Cool vibe with friendly staff and homemade Pastries that are lovely and tasty.

Ula Z.

Yelp
Ordered a bagel and flat white. Both really good. Might need to wait for a while if it's busy but there's a nice hidden patio on the back and food will be brought to you.

Riley M.

Yelp
I don't drink coffee so I am not familiar with how these places "normally" look; however, this place looks great. Wood beams and brick, lots of open space. I assumed I'd be paying a fortune based on that but the menu was very well priced. The $8 breakfast burrito was KILLER. Compare that to the place down the street where they're selling Costco muffins and $13 egg sandwiches? Nah.

Flavo F.

Yelp
lox bagel was great plus scones were very good. popular place but service was quick and will come back

Zi Y.

Yelp
Very hip place located in Chinatown with homey, rustic decor and an outdoor patio inside Dragon Alley! Came here on a Sunday with a group of 4 with the intention of studying. Although there were lots of tables indoors; there was a variety of long tables, bar tables and two seater tables. It was still hard to find a place to seat us all at first, purely do to how busy it was. There was a table where only socially (without electronic devices) was allowed and that was a pretty cool concept! Coffee was good, they have many milk alternatives. There were plugins but they were far and few. There's free Wifi but it wasn't very stable. Good for studying: 3/5 Ambiance: 4/5 Food/coffee: 4/5 Would love to come here again in the summer and sit on their patio! And just do pure socializing.

Joe K.

Yelp
Really good drinks. However, person on cash was not friendly and didn't even acknowledge the tip I left.

Payton H.

Yelp
My favorite cafe in victoria. I always go here when I want to treat myself to a nice breakfast before work. Their coffee is really good, and the food is pretty good as well. My go to breakfast is the smoked salmon bagel which is such a good way to start the day. I also LOVE their cranberry orange scones. I had the burrito once and it wasn't my favorite, it was very heavy on the tomato flavor and not spicy enough. But otherwise i'd a pretty reliable and delicious breakfast.

Sarah S.

Yelp
Loved this coffee shop! I didn't get to spend nearly enough time here but it is somewhere I would come to work daily if I lived in Victoria. It's open, airy, has a great vibe, and beautiful exposed brick and wood inside. There is also a beautiful patio out back. The patio is enclosed with natural greens and plants hanging over it. The coffee is delicious and among some of the best I had in Victoria. I had an Americano and went back for a cold brew, just so I could stay longer in the coffee shop. My husband and I split the breakfast croissant with bacon, egg and cheese. The dijon mustard was such a great addition and added so much depth to the sandwich that I'm going to make sure to add it to all of my creations moving forward. The croissant was warm and flaky. I wish I had more time in Victoria to spend at this gem of a shop, but if I ever return, I know exactly where I'll head!

Oc R.

Yelp
Haven't had a good flat white for a long time. Rich in milk but not compromising the coffee. Very good espresso. Scone was lovely and not too sweet. Butter croissant was very well made. Like how humble the cafe is and clearly, every detail from decor to food, to the people.... all made out of love and for the love of coffee!

John B.

Yelp
Great service. Love the exposed wood and brick. Has iced maple latte and veggie egger. Both were great and gave me the needed energy to complete our final day in the area. While we didn't sit outside, I checked it out a and it was a cute cozy spot to sip your drink and work on your laptop or chat with your partner. Location is also convenient and parking is available on street. The bathroom was moderately clean. I forget if there was only one bathroom, so prepare to wait it that is the case. We would certainly return to UPCC, and hope to someday as the area is BEAUTIFUL and their food and drink are great.

Suann G.

Yelp
How can you go wrong with a coffee shop named after a railroad? Hip interior and cool music give this place a great vibe for your morning cup of joe. There is also an outdoor garden in the back to sit in on nice days. Plus free wifi! The staff is fantastic! I ordered a soy late and the smokin' egg breakfast sandwich on a croissant. It is finished off in the panini press. I loved this! My husband had the rhubarb muffin. Very moist, and not sickeningly sweet!

Jake M.

Yelp
So far on my quest for the best coffee shop in town. This place is the best one. Much better than discovery and hide and seek. Great service and cool patio. Good beverages as well

Tim C.

Yelp
Although the coffee is great, the food is even better. Treat yourself to freshly prepared scrumptious food!

Riki L.

Yelp
Perfect. Never change a thing. I wish Atlanta had a coffee shop like this. Ordered Iced Chocolate mocha - 1st one was amazing on it the best , 2nd one was made by someone training and they didn't let the powder dissolve so it was a bit Chalky London Fog - 1st one was great Smoked salmon bagel - my partner loved this prosciutto sandwich Breakfast sandwich on croissant the coleslaw side - delicious! Pesto Brie croissant - nice alternative for ham and cheese for those that that don't eat meat. The back patio was under Renovations but completely enjoy both my visits. Not only is the inside of UPC beautiful it feels warm and genuine, like you are visiting someone's house. the music isn't loud, it's just a relaxing way to start the day. Victoria is lucky to have a coffee shop like this.

Sarah B.

Yelp
Great place! The vibes here are seriously on point. Really good coffee and pastries are fresh. We came for a brunch and was pleasantly surprised to find they had gluten free cookies and bars. I only wish they had gluten free options for their breakfast menu besides a salad.

D N.

Yelp
Awesome place to grab some coffee, they have plenty of seating indoors and some in the back with a convenient alley that will take you to China Town. The indoor is very rustic and they have a great vibe, the staff are very friendly and helpful here. I accidentally knocked over my brother in laws hot chocolate and they replaced it for free! The cider and hot chocolate is great here, I definitely recommend it and their food smells great, didn't have a chance to really try any on this visit.

Nat R.

Yelp
Super cute coffee place with a great feel to it! I adore the decorations and it has a lovely quiet patio in the back if you want to settle in with a nice book in the afternoon as I did. The inside was wonderful and felt like a quiet pub which I really liked. The staff was very friendly and there was a very good selection of desserts if you are interested. I ordered an americano and it was a reasonable price for one. It had a very deep bitter roast that I really enjoyed. Very smooth and extremely hot, and served in a very simple, practical and adorable mug. Definitely recommend this place to fellow travelers or locals in the area if you want a nice coffee.

Kynan G.

Yelp
Pretty good coffee and nice atmosphere. Coffee is served in nice big cups. Latte art is really well done.

John B.

Yelp
While exploring Victoria's limited 'Design District' I discovered Union Pacific which has to be one of the most visually arresting coffee places I've ever encountered; one peek inside the door and I knew I had to spend some time soaking up the atmosphere. If the set designers from 'Northern Exposure' were to create a coffee joint it would likely look something like Union Pacific: Lots of dark wood, long communal tables, clocks showing the time in different world cities and large floor to ceiling blackboards listing the menu of the day. They do, of course, serve all kind of coffee drinks, pastries, sandwiches and in the evening, wine and beer along with live music. It's a smartly designed outpost for the area's creative class and Macs are the laptop of choice for the stylish digerati who decamp here to figure out their next online adventure. Too bad the coffee isn't very good. And that's why I'm only giving three stars to Union Pacific - the coffee was weak and disappointing though the hearty slice of carrot cake I had along with it was a hit and definitely worth the money. I just enjoyed sitting here and doing some people watching. There are worse ways to burn and hour or two in Victoria.

Brian S.

Yelp
The perfect place to spend a rainy day! This is a GREAT coffee shop near Chinatown in downtown Victoria. I had a latte, a gluten-free almond bar, and a yogurt parfet. All three were really good, I especially liked the granola and dried fruit on top of the yogurt. There is fast, free wifi, and ample seating. Come here to study, to chat, or just to enjoy a book.

Chas H.

Yelp
As a local, this is my go to and I don't even live close. If one is going to pay for parking downtown, I suggest doing it over here. U.P uses JJ Bean coffee beans roasted in Vancouver which lends to a home grown mental feel that you can't beat. The rustic yet crafty interior with many quirky items to check out, is something that keeps me coming back. The staff though, really are the gold star on this joint. Down to earth, casual people who speak to you like they actually care about how you are, the craft lattes like it's their JOB and more importantly, if you're in the market for lunch or some kind of nibblins with your java, you are sure to be stoked putting any of it in your mouth. Front curbside patio appeal, inside comfort and interest, rear alleyway private deck... visit Union Pacific and decide for yourself. I wouldn't chance my coffee enjoyment anywhere else.

Darin R.

Yelp
This is a great coffee house. We stopped here on the way out of town to go zip lining. It was perfect. There was a lot of parking, so that was easy. Coffee was great, the food was good and everything was made quickly. If I was in the area, I would definitely come back.

Cara E.

Yelp
Great coffee house! Tried it when we got there, all the sit down breakfast restaurants were so crowded and we wanted coffee and a snack. Found it!! Cute coffee house and the food is amazing! Got an americano with bagel & lox, so good!! When we visit again , we are coming here !

Scott M.

Yelp
Great coffee and lite eat spot. Service was fast and friendly. I had the Bacon Egger on a croissant and it was amazing. My Chai Latte had not flavor which was disappointing. The wife had a croissant with cream cheese. Simple but good. Her Caramel Macchiato was ok. For us, not the best drinks but the atmosphere and food is worth another try.

Michael S.

Yelp
I'm impressed any time a coffee shop has a flat white or Cortado listed on the menu. It usually is a good sign they really know their coffee. Great flat white and their patio on dragon alley is rare sanctuary away from hustle of downtown Victoria.

Brit G.

Yelp
Ok, I've found a coffee shop I can call home in a different country! Coming for Portland, the land of amazing coffee & pretentious coffee snobs, I found this to be some of the best coffee I've had comparable to Portland's finest. I guess it just may be a Canada thing, but the baristas were so nice & patient! They were super efficient & quick with my order, too. I am absolutely in love with the interior (exposed brick, antiques, wood) so lovely & comfy environment. They have a beautiful patio in the back which happens to be adjacent to either Victoria's or Canada's most narrow alley way-- Fan Tan Alley. They do have food also, however I did not get a chance to try it. It does look good!

Stephanie D.

Yelp
Was strolling around DT looking for ANY coffee shop that was open, and it just so happened I stumbled upon Union! It was 6:30pm at the time, and they closed at 5pm, however I saw 2 baristas still there so wasn't quite sure if they were actually open. They definitely weren't but the lovely Irish man told us to come on in and he'd make us a coffee! We chatted while he made us a Hazelnut latté (almond milk) and a Vanilla latté (regular milk). I personally had the hazelnut latté and it was sooo unbelievably good! Yummy!!! He was a super cool guy who I enjoyed talking with! And they were so welcoming to serve us even 1.5hrs after closing!! I've never been here, but the exposed pipes, wooden beams, brick walls, and furniture/decor is amongst the coolest I've seen in any coffee shop! I would love to come back during business hours and spend an afternoon here! Such an awesome place!

Melissa C.

Yelp
Ordered the French toast and it was pretty good; the bacon added a nice touch to it. The macaroons were THE BEST I have had (even my bf said it was good and he doesn't even like macaroons!). Really nice ambience and love their decor. Highly recommended!

Hongxing T.

Yelp
The best Chia Latte I've had! Love that rich flavor! I think they use the real chia powder but less spiced. It's a great try over there!

Bonnie D.

Yelp
Awesome place. Exposed brick and wood decor make it homey and give it that outdoorsy BC style. Delicious coffee and the food hits the spot! Coconut chicken soup was perfectly spiced. Highly recommend!

M Y.

Yelp
Not only a cool place with wonderful ambiance but also the quality of food and customer services are just above average.

Catherine S.

Yelp
This place is fantastic! Delicious treats and lots of seating. I went here to study and there was a ton of space and free wifi, although outlets were few. The atmosphere is so great and the music is the right loudness ;) Also very clean which is important if, like me, you want to chill there for a few hours. Loved it - I think I've found my downtown spot.

Megan S.

Yelp
Super long lines everywhere for breakfast so i found myself here. Super fun and cute atmosphere, staff was super friendly, lots of space to sit indoors or outdoors and not to mention great food! I had a bacon egg croissant and a coffee and they were both delicious. Great location as well.
