Union Place Bar & Grill

With their gracious blessing, Union Place allowed us to host a "Hot Ones" style event for a large group (20+) of folks, providing a wonderful space and plenty of truly delicious chicken wings! Our entire group had a wonderful time and loved it. There's already been plenty of requests to come back to Union Place. 😎 Everyone who helped me with arranging the event (thank you Shanda) and providing the catering order of wings (HUGE thank you to the staff and kitchen!!) and taking care of us—y'all were just SO amazing!!! Incredible folks, such a friendly atmosphere, it makes for an awesome space to be in Knoxville!! We will definitely be visiting again soon. I cannot sing their praises enough! 🙌 (Unfortunately, I was really bad at remembering to take photos or videos, so I have so little to share in that regard. 😭 So sorry!)

My girlfriend and I wanted to grab a drink and some quick food late night and decided on Union Place Bar & Grill. Upon entry I was hooked! The Bass from the music was so clean and sounded amazing, which was huge for me! We were greeted and sat by Allyssa who was just fantastic! She was so friendly and accommodating for us! After we ate the delicious French fries covered in cheese and queso dip, she made us feel VIP by giving us a literal grand tour of the place, being I had never been. I couldn’t believe how awesome and huge the patio was with Large Projection screens ready to show any big game! The inside had a few different vibe areas too. A lounge with couches and TV’s. A dartboard room. They even had Shuffleboard! Pools tables of course were there! The bar was cool too!! There isn’t anywhere I will watch a Vols game this fall but Union Place Bar & Grill! Great food, AMAZING service, chillax atmosphere! Thanks Allyssa!!

I come here every Monday night and have only ever had tremendous experiences! Both Kalyn and Shanda never fall short of delivering excellent service, a cacophony of laughs, and a truly welcoming and friendly atmosphere that makes any and everybody feel comfortable and at home. The welcoming atmosphere and friendly smiles accompanied by pleasant conversations exemplify hospitality and what one looks for in a bar. In addition, having tried many different things on the menu, I can attest that all of the food is truly terrific and leaves nothing to be desired in the slightest. This place is one of a kind and I truly encourage everyone to swing by at least once because this is The Place!

This place is nestled off of Kingston Pike, the drinks are always amazing, but the food is absolutely delicious! The atmosphere and staff are the coolest ever. Must try! Jeff rocks!!

I love this place! It has a friendly staff, great food, and a slightly hippie vibe. Every night of the week has something going on, from trivia on Mondays to live music on the weekends. Another thing that I really like is the diversity of the patrons. All ages and races seem to be represented there. The patio is fantastic during the warm months too. Do yourself a favor and give them a try, if you are on the fence. They even have vegetarian options on the menu.

I come with my mom almost every Friday and Shanda is the best server we’ve ever had. She’s so sweet and always so attentive. Union place is one of my favorite bar/restaurants in town, and a lot of that is because of the yummy food, great atmosphere, and incredible staff (esp Shanda!)

I absolutely loved Union Place Bar & Grill. The place is huge with decent parking. There are so many different areas inside to check out, including the outside. The food was amazing as well as the service. It was clean & just an all-around great place to go on any night.

Shanda was amazing! Food was beyond amazing! Overall would give 10 stars! Definitely a go-to place. Burgers are fresh and juicy 😋

Right behind Toddy's Back Door Tavern is Union Place, a cute bar that has a variety of things for you to do. The perfect sports bar that has delicious food. Whatever you are wanting to watch - March Madness, NFL, Football, Racing, Baseball, they have it! They have a very large outdoor area that is pet friendly with a big screen tv. A lot of times they will have live music outside but when it's 96 degrees like today, that would be a nope. They have a large indoor area where you can cozy up to the bar, or they have a lot of tables, or if you have a large group they have private rooms you can reserve. They also have poker nights down there which I'm not sure the exact nights but you would need to call to verify. On Wednesdays they offer Singo (a Bingo for songs), and they also have a dart board room and another game room. They have a big screen for the big game days and other tvs scattered all over. Super cool laid back place, great bartenders and servers with delicious food. I personally love the French Dip, the cheese curds, potato skins, the Jive Turkey Sandwich, the Burgers and I love the fries! If you find yourself in the area and want a cool place to go check out, then go check out this cute bar and bring your furry friends just wait until it cools down from the heat. This is a good bar but my server made my expiernce great. I had Gabrielle as my server and they are super knowledgeable about drinks and suggestions. Gabrielle made me feel welcome into the bar and made my experience a good time. I come back to the bar not for the prices or drinks or anything, but for the experience I got with my server! Took my order really fast and got me my drinks just as fast. Thank you Gabrielle for a great bar experience!!!

Food was average, service a little below average, and draft selection was pretty poor for the number of taps.

Great food, atmosphere, and outdoor seating? All of that can be found here. The patio and outdoor space is great and it looked like on busier days they also had an outdoor bar as well. On the wall they even had a projector screen to show sporting events etc. The food was great! Typical bar and grill type foods but their fries were my favorite. The house cut fries are my all time fav and they were cooked perfectly with a dusting of salt. The Old Skool burger is like your typical patty melt and the onions were grilled to perfection. The Burger of Eli, one of their chef's creations, had great flavor, spice and heat. Our burgers were cooked perfectly and very filling. The queso with the chips was super smooth and the perfect app. I will 10/10 come here again especially if it's a nice day for outdoor eating.

Cool vibe, service started off slow but got better, food was just ok. Get salad or a burger they look and in our group people said they were really good. Band was good but used a voice modifier so I would have appreciated just hearing his real voice.

Good food in a sports oriented environment. Friendly staff and quick service. We asked for a sandwich not on the menu and they made it happen.

I really like this place... I have been there a couple of times. It has a cool neighborhood bar vibe with really good service. Next time in i think i want to sit outside. The first time I went I had some sausage dinner that was unique but very good (I asked the waitress for a recommendation) and this time I had the Monte Cristo sandwich with fries. The sandwich was awesome the fries were a tad undercooked and needed salt but... the Monte Cristo was awesome. The service was good. This is definitely worthy of a visit. I have been their twice.

Union Place Bar & Grill is a delicious spot right off of Kingston Pike on Chambliss Ave. I've never noticed it, but glad I found it on Yelp and decided to try them out. They have a variety of food, a big bar, and lots of TVs to watch all your favorite sports. They also have a firepit outside that they keep lite all day long, if you enjoy your food/beverage by the fire. My husband devoured his burger and the cheese curds were my fave! The chili was okay...I couldn't taste any Guinness. I think I'd enjoy it better if it did.

This hidden gem has one of the best and largest patios/beer gardens of any place around town. Plenty of shade trees, a water feature, fenced off from the road, even a giant tv. Somewhere between a very nice dive bar and a sports bar, this is a great spot to grab a drink with friends or alone. Unfortunately, the beer list is not nearly as expansive as the owners' other establishment, Union Jacks, but the bar food is excellent. Try the cheese curds and the pretzels with beer cheese. Service is very friendly. I would love to see the craft beer list expanded quite a bit, even if just bottles and cans.

This is a wonderful chili dog and amazing fries. You can tell that the dog is high quality. It's so good! The chili was pretty good, but I prefer my hot dog chili to not have beans in it. The fries. The fries are something special. I could make an entire meal of them. It's a cool little gastropub with license plates all over the walls (I don't see Wyoming, with good reason) and endless sights to see. The staff is great! Everybody is so sweet and helpful!

Been coming here for years. There is a serious sewage problem and the bathrooms are horrible. It stinks in the main part of the restaurant/bar. I really hope they get this fixed.

We really enjoyed coming here for trivia last Monday. The place was packed and everyone seemed to be having a good time, the atmosphere was very chill and inclusive. I thought the corn nuggets and burger were tasty and I was really impressed by the mac n cheese. Prices were typical. TV showing small animals getting eaten was weird. Bathrooms were clean. I'll come back next time I'm in town!

Burgers are very good here and a good size. The restaurant has more of a pub/bar feel and is good for large groups. Service is quick and efficient. Good choice for beer and burgers.

Excellent college game day bar and grill. Outdoor seating is fabulous they have a fire pit and large tvs and a outdoor bar cabana this place has great cheese bings also a Knoxville staple if you are looking for the dive bar you wish you have never told anyone about this is the place. I come here frequently now over roosters since they are to packed to handle anymore

I had only been here a few times before, just for a couple of beers, but this time me and one of my old friends had lunch here yesterday and it was fabulous!!! The bartender was our waiter and he was incredibly friendly and prompt. My friend had the burger and fries and I had "The Big Tony", their version of a Reuben and it was phenomenal, they even put brown gravy on the fries for me!!! Whether you want a drink at a place with an incredible atmosphere and great patrons or a really good meal, this is the "place" to go. I highly recommend this establishment.

Don't order from here if you want take out. They don't accept their orders and then you get there and they say it's an hour wait. Don't do it, not worth it forget this place exist unless you plan on listening to bad music, high drink prices and not getting food.

Perfect patio to watch a game on or catch up with friends. Great menu for food and drinks.

Good wait staff and food. Surprisingly, the area near the restrooms stinks like a sower. I don't see any drains in the men's room. They put several air fresheners in the restrooms to mask the odor. This needs immediate attention. Otherwise, they should close down until corrections are done. My suggestion is to locate the floor drains and pour a few gallons of water in everyone. Usually this will take care of the odor.

It is bar food, but good bar food. Great space with board game rooms, video game and pool room along wit other rooms and patio where you can smoke a cigar. I dig it and I think most people will. Monday is trivia night. Giver it a go!

Great food, great service, great atmosphere!!! It's place is a game persons dream! Board game room, pool tables, shuffle board, arcades, poker room, darts and big projector screen with games being broadcasted! Really nice outdoor patio area with a big screen tv. Highly recommend this place!

We randomly found this place and are so impressed! It's a beautiful day and we wanted to have a drink on a nice patio. The patio has huge trees, a relaxing fountain, wind chimes, and good beer. They are also dog friendly. We will definitely be back!

This might be my new escape from work! I really liked the environment and the staff and the food! It was a little expensive if I had to pick something to complain about though. Overall it had a hole in the wall feel in a decent bar with a full menu. Will be back.

I dined here for the first time last night and had an overall positive experience! Our waitress was very friendly and was helpful as we navigated through the menu. They have a solid beer selection and good happy hour specials. We ordered the homewrecker fries with beer cheese and they were delicious! For dinner we ordered the portobello burger, shrimp po'boy, and the monte cristo. The sandwiches were good, but I was expecting more, especially after we enjoyed the fries so much. All in all this is a fun spot to meet up for drinks with friends and I would be happy to visit again! This place is new, so I'm sure it'll grow over time.

We love this place! The food is awesome and bonus- reasonably priced. We found it during COVID and haven't ventured inside yet but the outdoor space is great! Bistro lights with a large patio. Oh and they will do curbside service. I've gotten the Jive Turkey and love it! The sauce is sooo yummy (and spicy). My husband has gotten the Old Skool (patty melt) and the Roast Beef Dipper (french dip sandwich). Of the two, he preferred the dipper, but both were good. Can't wait to try more!

My wife and I stopped by here to use a discount card. We've never been here before and always like a good 'beer & burger bar.' This is one fits that category. The restaurant is very spacious with a large central dining room, several separate rooms for dining, lounging and playing pool, with a big bar and musical stage. They have a large outdoor patio too, but it was too cold to use it. The server was very nice and took the time to explain the restaurant and the menu to us. He also checked on us regularly during our meal. I had a Highland Ale and my wife had Yee Haw Wise Guy. Both served cold. To eat, I had their version of a patty melt with fries, and my wife had the hot chicken sandwich with fries. Both were prepared well, however, they were both a bit messy from their respective sauces. The fries are natural cut with skin, the way we prefer. My sandwich was loaded with flavor. When the manager learned it was our first time here, she came over, introduced herself and provided more info on the place as well as a warm welcome. Overall, the service was outstanding.

Food is ok, service is trash. For being a place that offers a full menu and indoor and outside seating...servers are a hit or miss. Either good good or terrible.

Came here for a Sunday lunch & loved it! Nice, relaxing patio that is also dog friendly :). We had the fried mushrooms for appetizer, a turkey sandwich and Nashville hot chicken sandwich for the meal. All of it tasted great!

This is a good place for lunch. It's really more about the vibe and atmosphere. Pretty quiet for a business lunch or just friends. I haven't been for dinner or the bar. Menu consists of traditional sandwiches, soups, burgers, but a few nice touches like a hot brown and Guinness chili. Give it a try.

Seriously has gone downhill since it opened. Extremely overpriced for what you get. Handicapped parking is usually taken by the band and the other entrance has stairs and a shaky handrail. Sandwiches aren't hot anymore and french fries are always cold. Bucket of beer is now $19.

Fairly new and then immediately hit with covirus. Now open with restrictions. I'm glad they made it. Pros: Good food. She had a brat and I had mett and beans. Both were good. German sausages are the wurst (boo). Great service. They were busy but our waitress, Tara, kept up with it. She is delightful, kind and attentive. Ask for her section. The patio is great! We were there right after a thunderstorm so it was cool and calm. There is a great mix of all sorts of different people. Quite a mix. There is a band on Fri and Sat. I think the band is normally outside but was inside because of the weather. It is much bigger than it looks. Many smaller rooms off a large central area. Cons: Only thing was the noise level inside and out. The band was loud though everyone seemed to be enjoying it. We sat outside and there was the live music coming from one direction and Pandora music on the speakers outside. It was kind of stupid and we asked them to turn the music off but it didn't happen. No big deal. When we return hopefully the band will be outside and we can enjoy the inside. All said, we liked it! We will return!

Great place! Good food and bar (with good bar prices). Unique floor plan has a large central area with various side rooms (some open, some closed for privacy/meetings). They have a fantastic patio. Large, with waterfalls, fire pits, large TV, and a separate bar. The staff is exceptional. They take great care of you...you'll feel right at home. Highly recommended!

Fun, laid back atmosphere with good drinks and pretty good food. The menu isn't fancy- sandwiches, burgers, apps, etc but it's all good. Mett and Beans are a little more unusual favorite. Great patio area!

We found this place while waiting for our Son finish up a meeting at church. In need of a bite to eat we decided to give it a go. Great outdoor patio, and really good pub food. They were out of a couple of items, but the food quality was very good. Also a fairly large and excellent drink menu as well.

My wife and I met friends for dinner. It was the first time we have been to Union Place. It definitely won't be the last. Great place with a great layout and really good, reasonably priced food. Our waiter, Paul, was absolutely the best. After we left my wife went on and on about how Paul was so down to earth and attentive. We went there tonight for dinner. We live in Farragut so it's a little bit of a drive, but it's always been worth it. When we got there the parking lot was pretty much empty, which is unusual. We wrote it off as people not going out due to COVID. The sign on the front door had the rules, which included "seat yourself." We sat down and waited for a server. And waited. And waited. There were as many wait staff there as there were customers. The table next to us had a waitress bring them drinks several times, but never asked us what we'd like. We finally got up and left. There were wait staff all around us on their phones and shooting the breeze. I hate it, because we loved that place. I have given them five stars before, but now it's a one. We went to Pero's on the Hill and got great food and service.

In the world of bar food this place has managed to put some nice twists on some old standbys. Friendly staff and easy take-out. Try the chili in a bread bowl!

Jeff took care of us, COVID-19 precautions in place. The food is wonderful and the service couldn't be improved upon. Thank you very much can't wait to come back

Sort of a big, overly casual almost hole in the wall neighborhood sports bar. This place definitely doesn't fit in this area of town. It's got more of an old city, north or even south Knoxville non pretentious almost dumpy vibe. I really didn't like the atmosphere. Nothing interesting, or cool, or unique or charming about this place at all. The menu was quite a bit more creative, elaborate and comprehensive than we expected from the interior looks of this place. We each had a bowl of chili which was very good. Good ratio of meat to beans and cheese. A dollop of sour cream would have been a nice addition. It may have been on menu but we just didn't receive it? You're probably saying to yourself, why the 3 rating because the chili was obviously very good. The salad I ordered was awful. The salad was like a 180 from the chili. The lettuce was not crisp, almost wilted and whatever else that was in the salad wasn't any fresher than the lettuce. The salad wasn't even fast food restaurant quality. I would have never served that salad to a customer. Terrible (lack of) quality control, no excuse. In summary a boring venue and mixed messages on the food. I doubt that I will revisit this establishment anytime soon. There are just too many other bars in Knoxville with so much more to offer.

Love this place! Originally went because it is walkable from the house. Keep coming back for the food, drinks and staff. They are all excellent. Get the Poutine. It is amazing! They make everything but 2 items from scratch. Live music on certain nights. Happy hour varies The patio is amazing and dog friendly. Always love to support local and the owner makes it very easy.

Saw this establishment being promoted on a vehicle while driving. I will not be spending money with a company being promoted on a vehicle that can't follow basic driving laws and move over a lane when police officers are on the shoulder.

Great service but food was not good and both husband and I were sick soon after leaving.

Just went into today 3-14-20 was not busy sat a table by the bar the girl working the floor never came over the bartender ignored us guy bring out food to a table look at us but kept walking so we did our on walking out the door will no t go back and will let my friend know about service there

The food is excellent! The drinks are great and the atmosphere is unmatched. Love this place!
