- my sandwich was so good. Everything was fresh, had great flavor, and was nicely prepared. Pretty big sandwich to be honest. - staff were nice and friendly. - place was clean and organized. - place has seating outside and inside but the inside is very limited. - prices are normal for the area. - overall a great experience at this location.

Unexpected win and now a new fav! Pivoted to Union Sandwich Co after our go-to spot was closed on the 4th and… wow! Adding this place to the regular rotation immediately. Super cute shop stocked with craft beer, wine, chips, and other treats to round out your meal. Staff was so friendly and had our sandwiches out fast. We walked away with the avocado caprese and the Italian. Both were super fresh and flavorful. Finished with a soft (but not gooey!) chocolate chip cookie which was the perfect ending to some very delicious sandwiches. Very happy. Can’t wait to go back!

I don't travel to Alexandria much but I was with my baby and he took me out for lunch on his break. He was craving a Ruben I could not decide between the Potomac Club,Tuna or the Sweet Virginia I went with the club. We were greeted when we came in,no wait time (but I think that is because people order and just come pick up,there were a couple bags ready to go beside the register) We ordered and I looked around while waiting and also got a Cheerwine and some Route 11 chips. The club was delicious 😋 it actually had a decent amount of meat !:I am not much of a fan of Avacado but on this sandwich with the sauce it worked and the bacon was cooked to perfection! P.s I have no pic of the ruben because this man killed it after he opened it. (Although he did say that the beef was not as tender as he is used to) Alright that's a I got.

Great location, outstanding sandwiches, and a large variety of snacks and drinks. This place was in such a good location that is covered and has 3 tables with chairs and a bar to sit and enjoy your food. All the food was very fairly priced for the area and was delicious!! The Alaskan with smoked salmon was awesome and the fish was very fresh with a creamy dill sauce, and a nice pumpernickel bread. Highly recommend the Italian sandwich as well. If you just need a quick water or soda or even chips, stop in.

The avocado caprese was the BEST sandwich I have ever had! Fresh, soft bread and the best ingredients. Generous portion too for just $12 Quick service. Great spot for people watching too. Highly recommend.

exceeded my expectation. i normally dont really like sandwich but that sandwich with beef here was really tasty. beef probably at medium rare stage and makes very good harmony with everything. i like it. does it have any other locations?? worth the price!!!💌

I’ve never been to a better place that has fresher ingredients and high-quality food. The BLT is absolutely amazing, and the staff is so friendly and so knowledgeable about all of the items as well as any allergy concerns that I may have had.

Tried Sandwich Co for the first time and went for the roast beef sandwich — absolute perfection. The photo says it all… just an empty wrap, because I couldn’t stop eating until it was gone.

On a perfectly sunny day, strolling around Alexandria, we stumbled upon Union Sandwich Co. in the Torpedo Factory and decided to grab a bite. We got a turkey sandwich, a roast beef sandwich, and an arugula salad. All freshly prepared by the friendly cooks behind the counter, we also got a few bottles of drinks from the coolers in the waiting area. We didn't want to sit inside on such a perfect day, so we grabbed the food and sat outside by the fountain. The staff obliged us and provided plastic utensils and napkins. The sandwiches were full and meaty, with lots of flavor from the fillings and the arugula salad was bright and fresh. If you're looking for a good, quick meal, try Union Sandwich Co. It's yummy!

Today I ordered from Uber eats, the Potomac club sandwich and the Cobb salad. I can't attest to the salad as I haven't eaten it yet, but the Potomac club was absolutely outstanding! I almost didn't order from Union Sandwich company because I thought it's just a sandwich right? But this sandwich was outstanding. The bread was delicious, the avocado spread was significant, the meat and tomatoes and lettuce all tasted so fresh. I don't think you can go wrong with this gem of a little deli! I will be ordering more from them in the future!

I absolutely loved the food at this place. I was passing through Alexandria after work and was so happy that I decided to make the detour. It was a busy area, but I found some street parking. Union Sandwich is located in the busy, historic district and was nicely positioned by the water. The sandwich was so fresh and delicious. I took it to go and when I took my first bite I was immediately impressed with the quality and taste of the sandwich. I highly recommend the Potomac Club. Yum...so good.

Right in Old Town, Alexandria, this small sandwich store and market is a convenient spot if you need a bite to eat or something to drink. Someone was ready to take our order right away, and the food was made fairly quickly. I love that there is a selection of wines if you need to pick something up last minute. The sandwiches were pretty good, fairly decent size.

Stopped in for a lunch while in town. Great sandwich. Simple options. Plenty of drink options. They are all single use cans and what not. The cashier was polite. Made sure everyone had napkins and ready to go. Not much seating more of a grab and go type spot for the sandwiches once they are made. The few seats outside are in a breezeway which makes it good for when you want stay out of the rain.

The baguette was so good I'm having dreams about it at night I can't stop thinking about baguette. Wish there was more seating, but quick, easy and authentic. All you really need in a sandwich shop, except seating.

This place makes AWESOME sub-style (and more) sandwiches. Hands down, the best in Old Town. And, if you're looking for a symbol of residence, you definitely won't want be throwing these sandwiches at police officers. They're too good to throw.

tldr: Basic but high quality sandwiches worth a stop for lunch. Sitting area seats 8 at a counter. Also inside is a few fridges for drinks and shelves for dry goods. I highly recommend stopping here for a quick and affordable lunch near the Alexandria waterfront. They have a robust menu of different deli sandwiches. They also have soup and shelves and fridges full of snacks and drinks. I ordered the Riverside Picnic sandwich ($12) and a cup of chowder ($6). The sandwich was toasted and made with fresh ingredients. The chowder was homemade and came with a piece of baguette. For the price and location, I'd highly recommend this restaurant.

Decent sandwiches, they don't come with chips. Good location. Friendly staff. Nice and warm inside on a cold winter day.

Had to review again the say the Avocado Caprese sandwich is DELICIOUS! One of the best sandwiches I've had. Grab some sandwiches and go ride around on the Water Taxi for the perfect day! Enjoy!

Excellent sandwich at a reasonable price for our area. I had the roast beef and blue cheese - plenty of both on the sandwich along with a good helping of horseradish. Limited seating - about 8 seats against a counter and three tables just out front in covered area. But if you take your food out to the waterfront there are plenty of places to sit and watch the water including a shaded pavilion with a dozen tables and low walls made for sitting. On weekend if you're not looking for the brunch experience this is a good alternative.

I had the tuna sandwich. It was the BEST tuna sandwich I've had. The bread was perfect and everything was very fresh. Super nice service. Worth checking out.

Amazing sandwiches again! I had the tuna and my wife had the riverside chicken. Bread was perfect and the tuna the best I've ever tasted. A perfect way to fuel on a bike ride on the Mount Vernon trail!

A quality deli right in the heart of Old Town. Really liked the 1919 Italian with hot peppers. The meats were sliced right in front of me and the bread was perfectly crusty. The Potomac Club also received great reviews. The place was plenty busy on the Saturday we visited, but service was excellent. Will be back!

Their specials are always great, and the Potomac Club is stellar. Properly priced and always a quick turnaround even when busy.

Ok, the sandwiches were amazing for sure but perhaps there was a miscommunication that happened because I ordered 5 sandwiches and got 6 sandwiches. I wish I could say was was only charged for 5 but alas I was charged for all 6 :-(. Other than that I would easily recommend this place. Not much to say about the ambiance. No one is eating at this place. Pick up your sandwiches and enjoy.

I ordered delivery from this place and was very disappointed. Although the roast beef and blue was pretty good, the 1919 Italian was terrible. Like tough bread, old baloney gas station sandwich terrible. What's more surprising is that the Italian is even more expensive than the other sandwich (on Grubhub). I'd possibly give them another chance but would not get the Italian sub ever again.

I've probably had 7 or 8 different sandwiches and they're all delicious. At most places I find what I like and stick to it. Not here because they're all good. If they have the pork and provolone - get it! Had a new one today - Ham and Pepper Jack and, shockingly....it was awesome.

The price is great, the location is great, the sandwich was awesome (I got the avocado caprese), huge selection of snack items and cold drinks considering how small the shop is. I'll definitely be back when I'm in Alexandria!

This is what Old Town has been needing! A small corner-esque store with fresh sandwiches and salads. You gotta stop in and try their rotating specials. It's a small and efficient shop, shelves line the store with unique and fun snacks, chips, and treats. Not only that, there's an impressive selection of wines, local craft beers, and canned cocktails available. They have a cool bar seating situation right in the front window facing Union St. Excellent service, great vibes and great food.

Everyone in our party enjoyed their sandwiches very much, and my wife got a salad that she said was yummy. Reasonable prices for the quality and portions. Fast service. Best quick place to grab a sandwich in Old Town. Pro tip: when the weather is nice, grab your food here and go eat in one of the nearby waterfront parks.

This is a great place to get a sandwich right off the Alexandria waterfront. My group was walking from Jone's Park to the south along the waterfront and decided to get a meal. There are many choices for food in the Alexandria city proper and a few right along the water. As you can tell from it's name, this is a sandwich shop in the corridor of a larger building. It has windows along both sides of the store making it very light and bright inside the store. Seating is limited with only a small bar with about 4 seats at the back. We chose to sit by the public tables near waterfront park. You order at the counter closest to the door. The menu is located on the back wall behind the counter and is a set of sandwiches ranging in price from about $11 to $13. I got the Roast beef and Blue sandwich. The food was prepared as we waited and was ready within about 10 minutes. It was one of the best sandwiches I have had with good bread, excellent roast beef and real crumbles. The store was clean. The staff was nice and it was a pleasant experience. Overall, I plan to visit here again to try more of their sandwiches. I hope you will too.

Was on an eighth grade Washington DC trip with my daughter. The bus stopped in Alexandria to let us explore and grab some lunch. We stumbled on Union sandwich after walking down to the waterfront. Ordered the 1919 Italian and the Potomac club! Absolutely outstanding. Both of those sandwiches. It has a nice down home feel to it. They're definitely putting a lot of love into their food!!!

excellent service and yummers food! The D served us, he was "stoic" and "dedicated." avocado caprese was loved by many! we would stay longer but we only had an hour in the parking garage. next time I'm buying a canned wine!

I had the Alaskan. Sorry no picture I ate it too quickly. Best sandwich of my life. Loved it. Fresh and light. Didn't feel guilty afterward and all the flavors paired really well together. Will be getting it again very soon.

We went there to order deli style food but we found out that many sandwiches listed in the menu are not available. We compromised and got two sandwitches that barely had food in them; two slices of thick bread and very thin layers of meat. Low quality ingredients that gave us stomach ache for the rest of the day. We cannot recommended.

BLT hit the spot. Bread was fresh and tasty. Bacon was delish. Just a great version of a classic sandwich.
