"Kansas City has always been a railway hub for the nation and Union Station was where thousands of travelers would disembark in the heart of the city. Built in dramatic period style in 1914, Union Station fell into disrepair and was closed in the 1980s, narrowly escaping demolition. The city thankfully elected to renovate the architectural masterpiece, which now welcomes visitors with theaters, a science center, a planetarium, exhibit halls, restaurants and cafes and more." - Brent Anderson

Awesome example of early 1900’s craftsmanship. Get to the 3rd floor observation deck for a perfect spot to people watch and relax. The old clock has been restored and the WW1 museum is right across from it.

If you love history and or old architecture, what a cool building. You won’t be disappointed in it. We actually went there to go to the Science Center (pretty great), and ended up eating at Harvey’s restaurant (fantastic, highly recommend, Ashley was a great waitress).

Google
What a wonderful place to visit if your in Kansas. Stunning from the outside in, historic and beautiful. There is so much to see that explains the history of the station. They have a great coffee place, a beautiful restaurant for lunching at and a very stylish restaurant called Pierponts which looks like it has been transported by into a different era. Let's not forget the amazing science part where families are able to explore amd learn.

Google
Really neat! Full of history! Lots to do inside and lots of eating options. I’d want to spend a whole day here. Really cool picture spot and fascinating vibes.

I love visiting local spots or places that are meaningful and unique to cities that I'm visiting and Union Station is definitely that. The architecture is super beautiful and impressive in person! I was able to catch a show in the planetarium which was also great.

I went to see the Christmas lights and train exhibit with my mom and it was AMAZING!!! 5 stars without a doubt. The lights were beautiful and we had a blast. We took a lot of pictures and thought it was incredibly cool. Highly highly highly recommend!!!

Yelp
Yes I recommend, a million times yes!!! As always, atmosphere is relaxed yet upscale. We tried a lot!!! Hubby- gigantic steak- he and my 2 sons said it was the best steak they'd ever had! Trio- my son & I had this and it was tasty, exactly what the editor explained, perfection. My daughter had ravioli with mushroom and Parmesan, she loved it. Last son, went healthier with chicken which he loved. A shrimp & squash appetizer- we ordered a second it was such a fresh and flavorful choice. Dessert- chocolate cake w/pistachio ice cream- so so rich. Teramasu was phenomenal- best one I've ever had- so much going on in each creamy bite. I wish I could remember the waiters name, super tall blond guy, handsome- he was on the ball w/ filling drinks, super helpful providing menu selections. A fantastic server!!!! Thanks for a great early Father's Day celebration Lydia's.

Yelp
So much fun just looking around and enjoying the history and beautiful station. We've been many times and will be back again. The garage parking is $15 and well worth it. The street car has a stop right side and can take you to the city market and other places alone the way. Make a day of it. A fun summer staycation in KC.

Boon C.

Yelp
This Union station has only the paid front parking. It is at the center of city transportation. Just below the war memorial. The station also located at the Main Street where all the transit transportation connects to the city market at the river. It is perfect for the out skirt worker in downtown to take the train to suburban. The station does not have many gate but it is definitely a good hop for travelers. The decorations are very simple. I do like the arrival hall and restaurant located inside. Overall is a functional train station

Dustin E.

Yelp
We went to Union Station to see a play by the Kansas City Actors Theatre. It was called "Gaslight" and we enjoyed it very much. Union Station was super cool! They had it all decked out in celebration of the Chiefs win of the AFC championship. I loved the touch of Jason Kelce posters everywhere. They have a wonderful sense of humor. Parking was plentiful both in front of the station and in the parking garage. Be advised to park in front is double or triple the price, but it is more convenient. Most of the things inside the station were closed as we went at about 7 PM. The concession stand in the basement was still open when we got there and people were getting some treats for the play and also I think there were people there watching a movie. It's hard to say anything bad about such an icon of our city. It's a lovely place and I enjoy being here every chance I get.

Yelp
A cool stop to check out if you're in the area! Parking is free for the first 30 minutes and then about $6 for up to 4 hours (prices will go up for everything after that). This was a cool place to see! It was very beautiful and had some really cool experiences inside. They had the museum of illusions, science center, planetarium, escape room, movie theater, and will have a Disney immersive experience soon! They also had some restaurants and little shops to check out as well. I wish there were a bit more restaurants and shops available or open when we went, but they still had some decent ones, overall. My boyfriend also stopped in the chocolate shop and got some very yummy ice cream! Overall, was a neat, quick little stop if in town!

Teresa H.

Yelp
It's always fun visiting Union Station to check out what theme they are supporting! It's fun when they have fun things out for the KC Chiefs. We visited before the movie on the Extreme Screen(Mean Girls) They have a couple restaurants and coffee shop as well as Rally House. Union Station is Beautiful!

Jaimie K.

Yelp
We stopped in to see the Spider-Man exhibit and I had no idea how large this was inside. There's a lot to do and see. Lots of stores, movies, exhibits, and food. The Spider-man exhibit is awesome. We where able to see a lot of props and art. My kids loved it. It was well put together.

Nicole O.

Yelp
This is one of those places to definitely check out while in KC! Had so much fun running around with my nephew in the science center, and coming out to union station was cool! Around NYE weekend it was super packed in there! The tree was still up and it was huge. I recommend going here on a weekday to avoid crowds. It was just overall a beautiful place.

Stella Y.

Yelp
I didn't get a chance to stay long since I was just passing through but this is a gorgeous Union Station where you can catch the Amtrak. Aside from that, there are several restaurants and entertainment within the station to do. I love the high ceilings and arches. When I was there, it was shortly after the super bowl so of course they had a huge homage to Patrick Mahomes with his jersey and a huge photo with the super bowl trophy. Right across from the station is the WW1 museum and this place is easily accessible by the free KC rail.

Jade D.

Yelp
You feel like you are walking back in time. The photos are beautiful, the architecture is amazing, and the activities you find will keep you busy. Loved that you were close to the memorials and that you can walk to the Crown Center through a skywalk.

Bill S.

Yelp
Union station in Kansas City is a perfect flash back into the Railroad era when the middle part of the country was hustling with cross Continental rail traffic heading west. Like many of the other classic railroad stations across the country this is more than a building. It is a stone landmark with incredible art deco detailing in the ceiling and classic welcoming decor inside. Today Amtrak still has service to Union Station along with many restaurants and a kids science center making it a perfect place for a vacation day to reminisce about the days of old.

Cynthia M.

Yelp
Amtrak Venture Car (train car) - caught this near (3-year old) train from the KCMO Union Station! The station is well taken care of, plenty of happy employees. Extremely helpful and a plethora of security. Lots of good food restaurant options, event space, 2 museums, interactive activity train station to keep the family busy during a Stop-Over! If in town for a while, the station has a skywalk/cross-over bridge attached to Jack Stack BBQ restaurant (I did not take photos)... and I'll review it at some time. They have a Happy Hour with good sized portions which are shareable (I forgot to ask about veterans discounts). The walkway goes into a touristy area and Crown Plaza! No boredom here! Amtrak lounge area: (I haven't seen it yet)... I'll review it one day!! This train car called "Venture" has wider walking space and ...... Seating: reserved group seating for 3-4 passengers in a group!! (To make it better, the designers created space for those walking past to allow no bumping next to guests much more moveable space to let others pass by throughout the entire train so you can stand and not be in the way of others grabbing their belongings)!! Individual seating has wider seating with flat table/laptop area and lipped cup holder! The area has no space to catch your cords and is such a better upgrade! The table surface is level with no slope!!!!!! Receptacles: Recycling and Trash receptacles are at every entrance/exit area. Business Class: The seats glide 1" forward but do NOT recline unfortunately (booooo)!! The seats are 2" wider and each passenger gets 2-outlets (instead of a shared outlet as in Coach seating). Accessibility: Wheelchair & Bike friendly!! (bike rack/luggage carrier)... a bit annoying due to the fact the handlebars stick out a bit too much. Lavatory/Restroom: The size is still the same. The sink mirror is illuminated, with better sink and faucet, hooks for hanging purse and clothes (for a quick change), baby changing station, touch-less door open/close (AMAZING!!). Touch less flushing!! Green light (unoccupied) Red light (occupied) Way to go Amtrak design engineers!! You can make the trip more epic by creating magnetic wireless charging tables for all devices!! Also stronger Wi-Fi. The changes are Great! Keep up with more upgrades! Suggestions: a) Better bike rack storage (turn the bikes towards the side).... Step into hook the bike up and take down. b) Windows (open to clean & make them shatter proof) c) Business Class: Seats (bring back the recliner style.... possibly add heat warming seats to business class (like the movie theater seats)!! Add leg rests & leg lifts to the chairs again. d) Coach Seating: bring back the recliner style with leg rest. Keep the glide system e) Give the staff cleaning supplies (just in case someone has an accident on the train).... On the 319 in the business car train (where I was) someone urinated on the floor and the ammonia smell was horrific and the staff (Jackie) stated she had no supplies except gloves. I took one for the team... and cleaned up the urine stained floor and sanitized the touch surfaces, making the area nice and clean smelling. Thank you!!!

Jennifer N.

Yelp
My family and I visited the day of the Super Bowl and it was crazy here! It was very crowded and the air was just static. There were lots of Chiefs photo ops. My son enjoyed the model train exhibit. Science City is located here. We didn't have time to visit.

Gina S.

Yelp
Union station is very nice, clean and open. However it's a bit overwhelming compared to other union stations (I.e. Denver has a nice one). There are lots of shops and a few restaurants but all except 1 close pretty early. The prices are also very high. There is a walkway that leads to Crown Center (which is a more reasonable place to go). If you are limited on time, I'd skip this stop and just go to Crown Center!

Kathy W.

Yelp
No matter the month there's always something fun going on at Union station even if you wanted to just take a walk and go over and look at the little museum they've got set up that's permanent it's such a beautiful place just as a small hint don't try to park in the front go around the back and park in the parking lot and walk up the escalator it's much easier parking back there. Enjoy one of the beautiful buildings of Kansas City

Nannette M.

Yelp
This is always a great way to rejuvenate your holiday spirit. For as long as I can remember, I have always come to get pictures of Union Station decorations at the holidays. Honestly, when you enter, you get transported back in time. You can feel the vibes of the holidays but also envision the station being lined with tables and the Harvey girls serving the soldiers, one of their last meals before they head out for basic, to war, etc..... Union Station has such a storied history. It's one stop you never want to miss, especially with it still being a fully functional station. There are some great shops to check out, and tours to be had. So please, if you have the time, take a look at the eateries, shops, schedule a tour, and just enjoy this historic place. Who knows what you will find or will happen on your visit.

Becca S.

Yelp
I was totally just passing through, but Union Station took my breath away. I was walking the Link, trying to get to a restaurant, and ended up here on my way. But dang. It will make you stop and look around. The building is absolutely beautiful. They have restaurants, shops, and even a mini train museum. I was short on time, but I could have spent a couple of hours just admiring it. My stay in KC was full of surprises and I hope to come back and really explore.

Jennifer J.

Yelp
Lucked out and visited right after the Chiefs won the Superbowl . I didn't come to worship the Chiefs, I came to see the historic building. It was built in 1914 as the third largest rail station in the country. It's gorgeous. Downstairs are a whole bunch of touristy things to do like an escape room and the science center. There's also a bunch of souvenir stores, a science center and a Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory. It's super easy to get to, you can take the free trolley from downtown Kansas City. The stop is also right next to the National WW1 Memorial Museum. There's a restaurant where you can sit and adore the beautiful architecture.

Brittany A.

Yelp
Great place to visit if you have any extra time in KC. You don't have to spend any money either, although there are certain things which have an up charge like the science museum. The model trains exhibits are amazing - we walked around in there for so long admiring the details on them! Plus it's awe inspiring walking through the large old station center. The old school post office, the great gift shop, the perfect photo ops out front. Definitely a sight to see before you leave the city.

Amber K.

Yelp
Beautiful and with a purpose. There's something for everybody at union station whether you're taking a train out of town or you would just like to watch the toy trains go around. It is a beautiful place to have an event. Just come for a cup of coffee or spend a day at science city, and the planetarium. Union station has so much to offer for the beautiful ambience. There is a free model train exhibit. There is a suggested donation of five dollars per person or $10 per family. Parking is reasonable. You can get 30 minutes free in the parking garage or pay about five dollars a day.

Dawn B.

Yelp
Attended the beer festival this weekend and I am SO GLAD my friend's talked me into coming. The Union station is gorgeous and very easy to navigate. Absolutely gorgeous location! I love the little shops inside and you can really see the history in this place.

Kary W.

Yelp
WOW A true treasure! Your Amtrak is located here, as well as many exhibits that rotate seasonally, an escape room, a movie theatre, two restaurants, several possibilities for a family or a cozy night out! This occasion, my family & I visited to their holiday wonderland & it was a mere $7/person! Get clear about parking-that's a little confusing from what it says on their website-it was $6 on the website and we paid $12 in the garage (not what was advertised, but still overall worth it to us) . Union Station is a definite must see if you are in the area! Even if you live near it's fun!

Jennifer U.

Yelp
I followed the recommendations and came to Union Station. From the outside it doesn't look as big, but when yiu go inside, you go Wow, this place is huge. Amtrak actually still runs out of this station. You can walk around and enjoy a few eateries inside, look at some historical pictures, check out different exhibits, and more. If you don't want to pay to park and happen to already be in the area or were checking out thr WWI museum (which we were), you can walk on over

Bill J.

Yelp
The train station has a really large miniature train model with moving boxcars all the way in the back. I'm not into the electric train stiff, but it was fin to check out. Definitely stop by the mode train exhibit if you have young kids. It was worth the visit. I'm not sure how much longer these buildings will be around.

Doug R.

Yelp
12/2022 Definitely a must go to during the Christmas Holidays if you are visiting for the first time. Alot of history here and plenty to do if you have kids. We don't have kids but enjoyed walking around looking at the model trains and the history here. We would probably come back here again when we visit KC.

Jessica S.

Yelp
Union Station Kansas City is a must-visit location for anyone that lives in Kansas City or is visiting Kansas City. I am so glad that they restored this beautiful landmark. The history and craftsmanship are absolutely beautiful. Union Station has so many ongoing activities and events for all ages. They have science city, laser tag, IMAX movie theater, the exhibit on tour, restaurants, coffee, and so much more. The union station pass is a wonderful gift option for locals who frequent all of the amazing things union station has to offer throughout the year

Amanda T.

Yelp
What can I say about Union Station besides how cool it is? We have taken our kids there for the last 15+ years to enjoy the exhibits, and Science City and took my son on a trip to St Louis on the train for the experience. But my favorite is Christmas at Union Station! Everything is decorated so beautifully and for a few dollars you can enter the exhibit to have photos taken with your children. This is a must see if you are visiting KC!

Arlene P.

Yelp
Traveling during the era of COVID #1 Kansas City, MO has a gorgeous, historic train Station and I got to get a cozy vanilla steamer drink with friends and enjoy the beautiful decor. It's so nice to visit other cities in December, especially if they know how to prepare a festive atmosphere while we anxiously await the coming of Our dear Savior's birth.

Alison B.

Yelp
I love walking through this station. Everytime I come to Kansas City I find my way here. The high walls, beautiful plaster art, old door knobs, old gates and signs, beautiful tile, and history saturating every corner. They have done such a great job displaying the Stations history from its beginnings, renovations, and salvaging pieces. Also they have places to grab a meal or a coffee and some memorabilia. The model train section was open this time and it was magical as well. There is also a theater, the Science Center, and an ever changing museum. Also this is an active train station where Amtrack is based out of so that is even better. Come check it out!

Darren B.

Yelp
The Union Station is a great central hub for transport but also very interesting city things in Kansas! The Christina's light show, coffee shops, connection to sky walk for great views of downtown and other restaurants. Great job Kansas!

Carolyn S.

Yelp
Kansas City's Union Station is absolutely beautiful year around but especially beautiful at Christmas! KUDOS to all who contribute to its maintenance, and all of the events throughout the year, inside, and out! I love the lighting of the building for various causes, and support of the Chiefs and Royals. Union Station is a Kansas City treasure and a must-see for visitors to KCMO.

Henry T.

Yelp
My friend dropped me off at Union Station so that I could get onto the Amtrak train from Kansas City to Chicago. Parking was easy enough to find in the structure. We walked to Union Station and didn't receive much help for where to go once inside. My friend said he'd been here before, but it was only for the model train shop that I saw at the very end of the Great Hall we turned into. The bottom level had signs directing us to where to go to find the Amtrak station, but once we were on the main level, we took a wrong turn into the Great Hall. There was literally no one in the Great Hall, and thus, no help to find the Amtrak counter/ticket window. Turns out, all we had to do was go past the bar and make a left into the Amtrak "office." From there, I walked down to the platform level, and boarded my train.

Madison G.

Yelp
This place is amazing during Christmas!! The light exhibit is well worth the money and was so very fun!!! We had a blast and it was a great way to spend an hour downtown! It's right across from the Crown Plaza too so you can get food, go ice skating, come here for the lights, and then get ice cream back at the plaza before leaving! Then we also hit up the Green Lady Jazz Bar after which is only a mile or so away! Great evening at lovely (massive) Union station!!

Kai C.

Yelp
The Union Station is a must do if you're a tourist in Kansas City. There's tons of activities to do for families or date nights. Union Station has events held here all the time. Parking for 4 hours is $10, more than 4 hours is $15. Convenient payment made easy with kiosk using credit card. Checking out the Union Station is free entry, but if you want to explore more like Science City there is a cost. It even has a nice big movie theatre inside! Nice restaurants to dine in like Pierpont's and Harvey's. There's even a coffee place, souvenir shops, an Escape Room, etc.. Very clean and well kept! My husband and I went to an event called Uncorked Wine Festival that took place in the Union Station last night. Dressed up and took part in a wine tasting of more than 50 wines. Plus there was a DJ. Amazing time! There were a few food trucks there, too. After the wine festival, we ate a late dinner at Pierpont's which was conveniently located inside the Union Station itself. After that, we walked around the Union Station taking photos. It's a great place for a photo op especially at night! Living in KC, we still visit the Union Station often.

Gerald H.

Yelp
I was told to stop here for a minute as a place that is not only cool to look at but also showing historical significance of a different time period. Located in the heart of KC, this is not only a museum, but also a working post office, event center and train hub. I am a huge 1920s - 1940s fan and this scratches me right where I itch. I liked walking in here and the cafe/bar in the center looked really cool. For whatever reason, it wasn't open. I would have really liked to sit and have a mixed drink there and take a load off but it just didn't work out that way. They were running an Auschwitz exhibit downstairs which I find to be interesting that they both have a museum but also select exhibits that change out throughout the year. Parking is pay to play - unless you are "using the Post Office" which gives you 15minutes. We parked there and just took in the scenes and then headed out. Would come back for that drink another time.

Susan M.

Yelp
The holiday lights and model train extravaganza at Union Station is worth the trip and the small entry fee, especially if you love model trains. The first part, in the Great Hall of the former train station, where the lights and decorations are, may be underwhelming for adults, but the kids will LOVE it. My favorite parts were the singing reindeer and penguins, and all the sparkling silver lights as you first enter. The enormous, extensive model train display starts at the back of you Great Hall, where once thousands of people waited on row after row of long wooden benches (all gone now) for actual trains decades ago, and that's where the part that will appeal to all ages begins. Even people like me, who are still somewhat kids at heart, but who didn't think much about model train sets, will be enchanted by the intricate, detailed tiny lighted buildings of every sort, with trains buzzing along tracks every which way in the gigantic back room. You'll see lots of tiny versions of Kansas City landmarks, like the Western Auto building, as well as perfect tiny towns all over the place, complete with landscapes, vehicles, people...and all aspects of daily life when trains were essential personal transportation for the millions of people who passed through Union Station, one of this KC's most iconic buildings. There's even a tornado depicted in one corner, and it lights up and crackles as if struck by lightning. That part is kind of a surprise, so be sure to wait until it does its thing! Look very closely, and you'll see a tiny cow caught up in the twister! But seeing it so soon after the recent devastating tornados that ripped across over 200 miles just south and east of KCMO was a little jarring. There's so much going on in the model train setup, and so much detail, a train afficianado could easily spend hours caught up in it. You can't help but be at least a little enchanted!

Chad H.

Yelp
Went to Union Station for 1/2 day while visiting KC. This place was great and didn't disappoint. We started our morning off with a trolley ride around the city that was fantastic. We also went to the planetarium. That was another great experience and would highly recommend paying for this while visiting Union Station. There is an IMAX theater, escape room, and some shopping. This is a great place to take the family to while visiting KC.

Rich H.

Yelp
$9 to walk through the Christmas lights seems a bit steep. We didn't have any little kids to sit on Santa's lap, or ride the train, or participate in any of the other activities. It was pretty disappointing given the cost.

Cindy H.

Yelp
The Auschwitz exhibit was very educational. I highly recommend seeing it before it returns to Europe in March. You must buy timed-tickets on-line. Our visit seemed to have quite a few people. Not sure why they have scheduled times for ticketing if the exhibit is as congested as it was today (Tuesday) at noon. We did have some difficulty with the parking attendant and ran across a scantily-clad, barefoot woman wrapped only in a blanket upon our departure from the facility parking lot.

Dustin H.

Yelp
Union Station in KC is pretty, pretty, pretty good! We enjoyed stopping here immensely. It's really cool from the outside and even better architecturally from the inside. Lot of great photo opps here for tourists. There's a movie theater inside (didn't check it out) and what I assume is a rotating museum exhibit. While we were in the city it was the "Auschwitz" exhibit which is tragic, heartbreaking, and heavy but also well worth seeing and important to do so. We were glad we toured it. There are also some decent coffee and dining options. We had coffee at the Parisi's inside and sandwiches from the delicatessen across the way. Would love to come back and take an actual train to elsewhere and see more of Kansas as this was my first time in the state. Super cool!

Nicole D.

Yelp
My son loves trains so we stopped by Union Station to check it out. It was free to enter but they wanted you to pay for parking. It's very beautiful in there. They have a restaurant, coffee etc., The mini train exhibit was free and very cool. Our kids loved it. They had a lot of different displays that were active. There's a couple of different things to do but they cost money and more than we were wanting to pay. They had a movie theater which would be cool to go too but they were closed. It's a neat place to check out. Beautiful grand piano on display. Too bad someone wouldn't play it in there. I bet it would sound amazing. They have a nice water fountain out front too.

Faria M.

Yelp
As a KC transplant, I'm always on the lookout for local things to do around the city. Since the holidays were coming up, I decided to take a trip to Union Station. Oh My God. I can't believe I haven't visited prior to now. Union Station is filled with different restaurants and cafes (all which look amazing). They also have limited edition museums exhibitions on display at any given time too. The historic aspects and beauty of the building alone should be a reason you take a visit. I would 100% recommend going during the holidays and making it continued stop in your family traditions. They have Christmas trees and lights everywhere including a free holiday train ride and the local symphony playing Christmas classics.

Guy W.

Yelp
Folks if You are in Downtown Kansas City Missouri this is a Great Historic Place to Visit. So much to do and see. Easy to get to via the KC StreetCar and Prices are very Reasonable. I enjoyed The Train Exhibit and the Auschwitz Exhibit. There are Restaurants and other places to visit so You don't have to Rush your Visit.

Jason G.

Yelp
For me this the best part of KC. I love the Union Station. I have been here several time over the last decade and never get tired of it. The architecture is so cool. I think someone used the adjective "cavernous" to describe the huge halls of the station. I'll stick with that. It's enormous inside. So, what is Union Station? It's a KC landmark that tourists and locals need to check out at least once. This place has everything: Amtrak train station Fine dining restaurant Model Railroad exhibit The largest movie screen in MO Science City Planetarium Coffee Shop Chocolate store Post office Escape room People Watching Visits with Santa Claus I have taken the Amtrak from here several times and am always impressed with the ease of getting in and out for my train. I have also been to the movies here several times and love the huge screen. Please stop by and just enjoy the fact that you are standing in 100 year old history.

Hannah G.

Yelp
We love the architecture here. There's so much to do. We have been here for private events, gone to science city, the theatre, to grab a bite to eat, to see the mini train display, or get coffee. Such a fun place to go to around the holidays, especially.

Michael D.

Yelp
Good for families with kids - if the parents are well off. terrible for everyone else. Carnival fairway food is better. Bland, simple and boring food. Customer service is so amateurish it's funny. Prices are shockingly high. Think Disney Theme Park food prices but without that level of fun. Eat before you go to Union Station

Robert B.

Yelp
We drove to KC for the Maya display and really enjoyed the presentation. It was very informative and had a ton of really cool pieces. I really liked the larger tablets that showed life in the Mayan times. I would suggest a few hours for the display and to really take the time to read and learn about the life of the Mayans. Union Station is always a cool location and it is fun to just walk around and take in the beauty of the building. There is also really cool areas that provide information about the construction and history of the building.

Yelp
I've always liked Union Station. Took my kids many times, too. They were always a little pricey but I just had a terrible experience. Amtrak is there. I like the train, too. I looked and walked for a long while before finding the Amtrak. Amtrak folks were great. The big problem was the price of parking at Union Station. At $23 per day, it more than triples the cost my trip. Might as well fly. I was told Union Station knew we were over a barrel for parking and decided to gouge us. Limited parking access means park in their designated spot or get towed. Just bend over and enjoy.

Yelp
Perfect place to visit if your touring Kansas City and/or looking for something to do with the family. Science city is a great place for kids to learn and have fun. It's very clean here and never too crowded!

Yelp
My family and I were visiting Kansas City and we decided to come check out Science City, which is inside Union Station. We have passes to our local kids museum, which works at hundreds of museums across the US and Internationally. However, the day we came to Union Station, was pretty much the only day (so we were told) that you have to pay to get into Union Station to get into Science City, which normally you wouldn't have to pay to get into just Union Station. Of course that would happen, out of all the weekends in the year haha. Oh well! We still wanted to check it out and I'm so glad we did because Science City was awesome. Union Station is a really cool building. I love unique and intricate architecture and Union Station does not disappoint. It was built in 1814, and renovated in the late 1990s. There is a train service that still departs and arrives here. One of my favorite parts of Union Station is looking up and seeing the design on the ceiling, so cool! To my knowledge there isn't parking attached to Union Station (correct me if I'm wrong), but there are multiple parking garages around and close by. We parked at the one that was right by the aquarium.
