United Has 4 Lounges at Newark Airport—Which One Is the Best?

"The United Polaris Lounge may be the oldest of the bunch, having opened in May 2018, but there’s no doubt that it’s the most luxurious. Reserved for those flying on the same day in the Polaris class on long-haul international flights, as well as First and Business passengers on Star Alliance international flights, the highlight is a full-service restaurant that comes included. As luck would have it, I was booked on a Polaris flight during a 24-hour flight delay and gained access. I alternated my time between a private, and very quiet, suite, where I worked and took calls, and the dining room, where the server let me go off the menu and order a fruit salad. Although there are 455 seats in its 27,000 square feet, it still manages to feel cozy."

Arrived for an early dinner. It located on the left hand side after the security. Received warm welcome upon walking in. Scanned boarding pass for entrance. The dining room had 35 minutes waiting time. Had to use the restroom and then had some salads and fruits from the buffet. After a cup of hot herbal tea, was notified to be seated for dining. The Jersey Tomato Panzanella Soup was warm and tasty. The Roasted Cod was tender and juicy.

We landed at 11. Got to the lounge by 11:15. Waited till 11:25 for someone to come out and seat us in the dining room. Then we waited, while various wait staff walked by. One lady came by and said she would take our table if the server that is supposed to serve is even later. Server eventually showed up. We ordered. I ordered an appetizer and entree. My wife ordered an entree. Al the food showed up at once at 11:50. My food was cold, while her burger was hot. No other Polaris lounge that I have been to has such poor quality service. After I left the dining room I realized the dissfunctuon. The buffet and restaurant are located at the opposite end of the lounge. So servers have to walk 200 feet to the kitchen to pick up orders. I have been to this lounge many times over the years and used to sit next to the bar Whoever laid out the restaurant location has never taken a class in HRM or Ops Mgmt. The dining area should be in close proximity to the kitchen like it is in Houston ... so the server doesn't have to walk 200' to get the appetizer and then back 200' to get the entree; because apparently that it too much work for them and they would rather serve the food cold. Skip the sit down restaurant and go to the buffet. Hopefully this review get management attention and they can fix the operational issue. I have tried to avoid Newark over the decades. This experience does not help improve my desire to pick EWR

Google
One of the more lacking Polaris lounge for sure. Shower amenity is lacking, cleaning crew didn’t do the job as there was an unflushed toilet and soiled paper in the toilet bowl when i went in. Was quite disgusted but overlooked it. The dining room / buffet offers okay food and suffers in variety. Staff are nice though.

Been here a few times and I've always been able to find a seat although I sometimes have to sit pretty far in the back of the lounge. They are expanding it soon which should help. Dining room wait was quotes as 25m but ended up being 36m which cut close to my boarding time more than I liked although still was able to get in a 3 course meal but came prepared with what I wanted to order in advance. I was seated for probably 5-10 min before someone came to take my order. Food wise, the wild mushroom ragout tart was ok although a little more soupy than I would have liked. The sky is the limit is a pretty nice alcohol-free drink and I appreciate the multiple non alcoholic cocktail options. Cheese plate was decent but the bread was stale and really hard to crunch through which is a bit annoying. Can't go wrong with the burger and it delivers the signature taste. The Roquefort Arancini but just a single ball when listed as an entree? I wanted to try the shrimp risotto without the risotto and carbs but they didn't allow special orders. The peach tart was very meh without much flavor. Chocolate chip skillet cookie with vanilla ice cream is a can't go wrong combo.

United Polaris lounge is still by far the best lounge in the US. The food at the buffet and at the restaurant is properly prepared and presented. I always enjoy it here for the ambiance and the food. Depending on the time you get here it can get pretty busy though especially before the connections to Europe around 3-4 pm.

Google
This review is compared to other lounges from European airlines such as Lufthansa also at New York. The food quality was very good but not exceptional. Although I only drink at most healthy a glass of red wine, I like being able to help myself to it as I can at the Lufthansa lounge, at United you have to wait in line. There was some fruit, but not a lot. There was pieces of candy. There has been a tremendous improvement in the quality of the United lounge compared to years ago. However, it has not yet reached the standard of European airlines.

Google
Outstanding lounge with barista. The coffee is great, especially compared to other lounges. The food is the usual, but not bad. Great interior and not crowded (at least in the morning?). Very spacious and clean, staff is very friendly. Checkin is automated, very quick.

Google
The lounge is modern and spacious with lots of food options. Drinks.. very limited liquor selection and the staff in the front desk were prejudice they asked if I was sure I was at the right lounge (2 couples also at the front desk not once were they asked that) you sure they said again "this isn't the regular lounge". I just grabbed my boarding pass and scanned it myself oh wow the light turned green!

Yelp
Ordered: Supersonic Flight Cocktail: Tequila (substituted), Mango, Pineapple, Lime, Cayenne & Lime Sugar Rim Polaris Signature Burger with Spiced Wedge-Cut Fries: Short Rib Beef Burger with 5 Spoke Creamery Redmond Cheddar Cheese, Beefsteak Tomato, Pickles, Bibb Lettuce, and added Caramelized Onions on a Brioche Bun Sticky Toffee Pudding: with Crème Anglaise Aya's take: Even though you are unbelievably well-fed and taken care of in United First/Business class, if my ticket includes access to Polaris Lounge, best believe I will be there! I stopped by 2-3 hours before my flight which I think is plenty of time to enjoy all the lounge offerings. I immediately stopped by the restaurant and put my name down. There was a 30 minute wait and I probably waited close to 25 mins. I didn't mind at all because in that time I went to check out the food at the buffet, grab a drink at the bar, and explore a bit. The Supersonic Flight Cocktail was light, fruity, and sweet. I'm glad I substituted the jalapeño-infused tequila with regular tequila as I wasn't in the mood for a spicy drink. Once I received the text and headed to the restaurant area, service was quick & efficient although I never felt rushed. The Polaris Signature Burger with Spiced Wedge-Cut Fries was good but pretty ordinary. It didn't stand out but was filling enough to hold me until the flight. And of course I had to get a sweet treat! The Sticky Toffee Pudding was better than expected! It was rich, dense, and slightly gooey. Even though I only wanted a few bites, it was hard to resist and I ended up eating the whole thing. I love the Polaris experience! It turns a mundane flight into a luxurious and pleasant experience. If you're flying First/Business class, do not miss out on Polaris Lounge!

Yelp
I was left wondering if the bartenders were on strike. More people behind the bar than customers, although some were bus persons. Although, two people sitting at bar were employees folding napkins so the staff to customer ratio was close to 1:1. After almost ten minutes a manager asked if I had been helped. When I said no, three bartenders ask for my order but the third one to ask was the person who finally made my martini. I recognized one of the bartenders who had been terrific on previous visits but had been on a break when I sat down at the bar. Especially after recent visits to Delta One lounges and a Sapphire Lounge, this was a tremendous disappointment.

Yelp
Excellent customer service, and there was no wait to sit in the dining room when I went (6pm on a Saturday, 3hr before my flight). The food was decent, the burger was well made and fresh but could use some ketchup or mayo to make it less dry. I really enjoyed the Bibb salad, it was fresh and flavorful. The peach tart was ok, the tart part was a bit undercooked. Lots of wine and drink options for those that partake. I would recommend!

Yelp
The United Polaris Lounge at Terminal C delivers an exceptional experience. The decor and ambiance are stunning, with a modern and sophisticated touch. The seating options are both stylish and comfortable, offering spaces for dining, relaxation, and work. I t provides amenities, including dining areas, relaxation zones, showers, restrooms, and a quiet room. I had the chance to use the quiet room for an hour--it was incredibly peaceful . The staff was warm and welcoming, I spent Three hours here, enjoying my lunch and coffee. This lounge is a perfect for travelers looking for comfort and premium service. Highly recommended!

Yelp
Complementary bar and food so what's not to like? Usually less crowded than the standard United Club so that's good too. While there aren't dedicated work areas, it's not too noisy so you can make a call without a problem. The people are friendly, the tables are cleaned promptly and the buffet is kept full and neat.

Yelp
Toilets needed cleaning. Otherwise a very nice lounge with plenty of space, decent food and a nice selection of wines at the bar.

Yelp
Beautiful set up with good amounts of space. Hit and cold food options. Excellent salad bar. Prosecco was lovely. Space was clean. Only dinging a star as there isn't really anywhere quiet to work.

Yelp
Excellent experience at Polaris lounge. I got the opportunity to visit this lounge as I was sitting in Polaris. Apparently they were turning people away if they are not actually sitting in Polaris on a United flight. Even still, it was a busy lounge in late afternoon. When I got here I knew I wanted to go back to the restaurant, note the menu changes throughout the year. And there was a long wait! When I checked in they said it would be 55 mins wait for a table of 1! Thankfully I had about 2 hours before boarding so I waited! The timing was pretty close to 55 mins and I was notified via my cell number. When I was seated, it was really not too busy. There were a handful of tables that were not cleared. So this restaurant-lounge definitely takes their time! I ordered the carrot ginger soup, the cauliflower steak and the berry tart. I also ordered a virgin-aperol which was not good. The food was good. Also since I have almost an hour wait I grabbed some food from the buffet, picked up some beans, chicken and salmon. However when compared with the restaurant, it's not as good. Also I was upset that they did not have any chamomile tea! How can they run out of chamomile tea! Overall I will always come whenever I get the chance.

Yelp
Large, quiet with Superior airport guest services. The shower rooms and full service dining room are appreciated and very good. I visited this lounge last year and was super impressed with the quality of the food. What was even more Impressive was the professionalism and the efficiency of the staff in the private dining room. With a fully occupied dining room, I was in and out in 30 minutes, in good time for a quick shower and a nap!! Most Polaris lounge restaurants I've visited took an hour easily from cocktails to food. Not here. Definitely will visit again if my travels route me through EWR (Newark). Impressed. EOY.

Yelp
The Polaris lounge is for international business class passengers and some first class passengers on Star Alliance flights. A solid buffet, bar, full-service restaurant, quiet area, showers and private bathrooms, this lounge is not crowded in the morning when I was leaving, and has plenty of space (unlike some of the other lounges I've been to). Big open floorplan (27k sq ft). From other travelers, apparently this gets very popular and busy later in the day. Located in Terminal C, near gate 120. While not the best food in a lounge, it is pretty consistent, and staff were hanging around ready to clean up any plates or cups or bowls you were done with quickly. Entering, you will be asked for your boarding pass and they'll confirm access; if you have any questions, they'll be happy to answer. Ample seating, very large couch and chairs, with almost every area having charging stations. Overall a pretty solid experience, though I do wish they served lunch/dinner fare all day - the breakfast food was more or less a US breakfast buffet and not so much international cuisine like I've had abroad.

Yelp
Very beautiful lounge. The club lounges by C75 and C113 are better. The Polaris lounge is incredibly busy and the food is similar except when going to the private restaurant which is a nice treat. However it's so much busier than the normal lounges that is difficult to find seating. The normal lounges are brand new with massive bars and convenient seating. Possibly because it's split between both wings. The food is excellent though if you're able to sit.

Yelp
I guess I was expecting more. The lounge was very easy to find and we had no issues going in. Once in we went right to the sit down restaurant to make a reservation. We were told it would be 15 minutes so we went to find a seat. At 3 pm we had no issues finding a seat. We got called for our reservation and sat down. Service was prompt. The menu is small so there weren't a ton of options to think about. I got a burger and this was beyond disappointing. The thing was thin and looked like something I'd get in a school cafeteria. The bun was big, the burger was small. The meat tasted fine but what a let down. After eating we went to find a seat and the place had really filled up by then. It was impossible to find 2 seats next to each other. Another disappointing part of this place. The bathrooms were clean but there was always a line. Is this better than sitting in the waiting area by the gate. Yes. Was this a first class experience. No

Yelp
We came here very early in the morning. They had variety of breakfast items. Very specious place with lots of sitting arrangements. We stayed for almost 12 hrs & was surprised to see that the lounge never got over crowded...so we were able to sleep and take rest. The staff are wonderful! Non-stop working to keep serve everyone, keep everything neat & clean. Thank you!!

Yelp
Two stars for the cocktails and zero stars for the food. Like everything with United, Polaris Lounge is on the decline. The food is awful. I feel bad for their loyal employees.

Yelp
United's Polaris lounges have gone a long way towards improving the overall quality of the US lounges. What is interesting though is that while the US lounges are on the upswing some of the international lounges (especially in Europe) are moving in the other direction. The Newark lounge is one of the best in the country with a large space (although even it can get crowded from time to time), a central buffet, and a nice restaurant with a limited but decent menu. The restaurant should allow for tips to be put on a credit or debit card (no one carries cash these days). Also, while the Polaris United lounge was a huge improvement over the previously useless regular (e.g., United, Delta, American) lounges, the others are now starting to catch up, which means that Polaris needs to up its game -- perhaps learn from some of the fantastic lounges in some Asian countries.

Yelp
This is a spacious lounge for international first class passengers. As such it gets crowded near departure times, but that said, we were able to enjoy the lounge and restaurant. The restaurant features nice views of the tarmac and I enjoyed watching the planes arrive and depart. The fall menu was out and I tried the schnitzel. It was delicious. Between this and the great cocktails, I was primed and ready for our trip to Rome. I only gave 4 stars because the staff had trouble keeping things clean. Tables filled with dishes, bathrooms not refreshed. Perhaps they need to hire more people. Otherwise I always look forward to visiting the Polaris Lounge before my international trips.

Yelp
Very nice and outstanding service Plenty of seating and good choices for food Quiet atmosphere and really great bar The nice benefit is the limited menu restaurant that is in addition to the food stations. Great place to relax before a flight

Yelp
Lots of amenities. Usual chair arrangements. Tables. Good food. Stocked bar. Private phone rooms. Nice showers--yes. We used them. Like a hotel bathroom. Go to the desk and make a reservation. We got in within the hour. Ask for a hair dryer.

Yelp
Always a treat to visit a polaris lounge before an incredibly long flight. The lounge was not crowded on a slow Monday morning and I was able to charge my phone and snack in peace. Love the multiple beverage options and the cleanliness of the space.

Yelp
I flew Polaris to a recent trip to Amsterdam and coming to the Polaris lounge was an absolute no brainer. This is a really impressive lounge - it's huge and has an awesome bar as well as a great dining area, as well as a buffet area. I got there earlier enough to easily get a spot in the dining room - sometimes though it does get packed, so can be worthwhile to make a reservation in advance. I got a green salad with figs and the butternut squash risotto (it was SO GOOD! And very decently prepped risotto too!) along with a glass of Sauv Blanc, and everything was delicious and the service was amazing. I then went to the bar, which is a full service bar, offering wines by the glass and a TON of different cocktails. I started with the "Beet the Jet Lag" (after asking how much of a pain in the ass it was to make), which is beet-infused Don Julio, lime juice, and agave with an egg white foam. It was DELICIOUS (for one drink, I couldn't have done more) and I mean, it had beet so was a health-conscious decision. From there, Richard, one of the bartenders (the entire team was AMAZING, I should have taken down more names!) told me he makes the BEST French 75 ever, so I mean, how could I not order one?! He was NOT lying, it was amazing - so 15/10 recommend if you're at the Polaris lounge looking for a solid champagne based cocktail! They also offer Whispering Angel as their rosé, which I absolutely had a glass of before heading to my gate. All in all, it's a great experience that's offered to Polaris customers with really solid dining experiences, showers/private bathrooms, and an awesome bar team that makes the time FLY before your flight (I swear that wasn't an intended pun). I found no issues with cleanliness and can't wait until my next international flight to get another amazing French 75!

Yelp
I love this lounge! We were flying business class internationally and this was a lovely way to start our trip. It's not too crowded. The lighting is serene. The seating is comfortable. The bar is large and chic and stocked. The restaurant has high end cuisine. (Yes, restaurant!). The butternut squash risotto and salad with figs were especially noteworthy. The buffet is healthy and satisfying. The shower suites have everything you need for a spa experience. I really can't say enough. Oh and the celebrity sightings were a bonus :-).

Yelp
To be fair, just like everyone else, I've had my share of bad airline experiences, but I was pleasantly surprised with the Polaris lounge. The high points were having a sit down meal. I even attached a picture of my tomato salad. The branzino was good too. They also offer a decent buffet. I did not eat it, but it looks better than most airline club buffets with several choices and clearly stating the allergens for each of the dishes. When I visited, it was very quiet with lots of seating. However, I know from the other reviews it can be really busy, so the experience is likely geared towards how crowded the lounge is. Furthermore, staff were very friendly and made sure the areas stayed clean including food serving/ eating areas and restrooms. I can't comment on the showers, but I walked by and it looked very well organized. For future trips, Polaris lounge is definitely something in the plus column for United.

Yelp
Kicked off family trip to Lisboa at Newark Polaris. Getting here was the trick as 787 to Newark cancelled day of at 7am, sad face. So, rescheduled through LaGuardia in EJ and took $150 yellow taxi through the Boroughs and Jersey City to the MUCH improved Newark international terminal. Went strong in the Club with apps, wine, champs, full service restaurant and potty visit. This club is really busy. As such, it gets a little messy for an A level Biz Class Club. With that, they stay mostly ahead of it. Restaurant has wait so when you arrive check in. They text you when ready. Restaurant is nice, a bit better quality food and drink than standard United Club. The view of the big tails while eating is spectacular. The airplanes are so close. A big daddy 787 is pulled up right next to the window panels. That is cool. Enjoy, cause if you are in here you spent the big cash or grinded a ton of miles for the reward.

Yelp
Here's the story: Polaris is much better than the United Lounge at C123 because there are more types of seating options, it's more upscale, and quieter. Design-wise, it's a bit dated. The food is so-so. I had lunch at the restaurant and a snack at the buffet. The lounge at C123 is designed cheaply or at least it looks that way. It's kinda like a mall food hall. Regardless, neither holds a candle to some of the Delta lounges I've been to. I guess I was expecting Delta quality and it's not even remotely close (I am not a bot nor a spokesperson for Delta--haha).

Yelp
I was so excited to finally get through the doors of the Polaris lounge for the first time. I've read all of the reviews from the most traveled bloggers/vloggers as well as viewed several hundred photos. I arrived at 3pm and it was fairly busy. By 4:30pm it was packed. The first thing I was determined to try was the full service dining area. The food portions were small, which I assumed was to accommodate international travelers who are use to smaller meals. I got the Polaris burger (which was mostly bread and lettuce) and it came with THREE wedge fries. The burger was cooked perfectly, but could've used more seasoning. The fries were nice and crispy. I'll admit it wasn't too bad of a meal, but I was expecting a bit more. I could've easily had two burgers and room for dessert. My server was very slow and didn't come back after I finished eating, so I just left the table 20 minutes after I finished off dessert. I saw everyone else's servers making their rounds in the dining area almost twice as much as I saw my own. Depending on the time of day your urge to go hits, the bathroom is typically clean and tidy. It didn't smell bad and it had nice hand soap. It didn't make my hands feel sticky and the consistency was nice (didn't feel cheap). Unlike most public toilets these have lids and it makes them more pleasant. There are also huge body mirrors on the back of the door so you can check your appearance or gussy up. Even though it was extremely busy, all of the shower suites were available and only one quiet room was occupied. Ironically, the quiet room itself wasn't very quiet. You can hear staff come and go - some simply walking and others loudly talking or singing or laughing. The "beds" were also uncomfortable. The curve of the chaise isn't a natural position one should lay in. The quiet rooms do not have doors so you can hear other people sleeping (and snoring). On the flip side, they do provide a sleeping mask, ear plugs, water, a mint, and a sound machine. For some reason I thought they gave you 4 hours to nap, but the woman at the desk said it's only 45mins to 1hr. I don't think I was expected to keep track since she didn't come to tell me my time was up. I stayed in the quiet room for about 1hr 45mins. Overall, the best thing about the Polaris lounge was the staff. I thought I lost my diamond rings in the bathroom and they went above and beyond to look for them and myself to hand them to me. I'm very grateful that they didn't just brush it off and throw up their hands. I can't wait to come back on my return flight and try the buffet. There weren't a lot of choices for the full service dining, and me being a picky eater, I didn't find anything else on the menu other than the Polaris burger appetizing (not including dessert). This lounge definitely made my 7hr+ layover fly by. Just one tip - make sure to get a seat by the window looking out towards to tarmac.

Yelp
I love this place. We bought entrance to the lounge since we had a very long wait for our plane- so we spent about 5 hours here. It was a great space and we were very lucky to snag a booth. The drinks were great- complimentary red and white wine, Blue Moon, Sam Adams, Modelo especial and a few other beers. sangria and other drinks. The coffee stations make very good coffees of all kinds and there are alternative milks- but no oat milk. The dessert station and many kinds of cookies and brownies. There was a salad bar and a quinoa bowl bar (which was delicious!). There was chili, noodle soul, noodles, a chicken dish and some really excellent fresh hummus which I mixed with carrots and cucumbers- it was a very refreshing meal with my quinoa bowl. You can fill your water bottle easily at the water/ice station. They have all kinds of soft drinks and red bull. The hosts here come around constantly to clean. We would barely finish something and then someone would whisk the empty plate away. I have a food allergy and there is a chef here who can come out and help you with ingredients. I had to ask about a couple of items and the chef was kind and knowledgeable. We are usually happy in United and Star Alliance lounges, but I felt this one was extra nice. The decor helps as well- it's beautifully decorated. The restrooms are spotless. I highly recommend this place, especially if you have a long wait at the airport.

Yelp
My experience at the this Polaris lounge was wonderful. The waiter was super friendly. I ordered my appetizer and entree very soon flatter sitting down and received the food pretty quickly. The waiter later brought me dessert which I didn't order. My first reaction was, "I didn't order this." And then he jokingly said that his manager standing at the corner of the dining area would really be disappointed if I left without having this dessert, pointed at the guy at the corner (the guy starts bursting out laughing), and then the waiter proceeded to describe the dessert and told me the drink was a "surprise". I don't usually like amaretto without any ice or without other things mixed in, but pairs with the warm cookie and icecream, it was absolutely a perfect combo. I did not regret finishing every bite of the dessert. Thank you to the nice waiter, I had an amazing meal here at the Polaris lounge. The lounge was clean and well kept. Lots of sitting areas with different kinds of chairs. I would definitely come back to this lounge if given the opportunity in the future!

Yelp
I used to be a super fan, but now we have maintenance issue. The club is dirty and the atmosphere is ... "New Jersey ". The buffet is a joke. Nothing that I would like to ingest. Service at the table is fine once I got seated in the restaurant. There is no drink menu and food choices are limited. The burger is alright but the cheese tastes weird. The hummus is ... I don't know what to say about that. Is it food? Don't drink the chlorine water!! Note: My incoming flight was almost on time, but then delayed almost an hour on the ground, because no gate was available. The wait for a restaurant table was 50 minutes. Luckily, I was seated earlier and my overseas flight was also delayed. Otherwise I would not have been able to eat at all.

Yelp
The United Polaris Lounge at Newark Airport is a spacious and luxurious lounge for international-bound business-class passengers. It features a full-service bar, a dining area with a la carte dining and a buffet, and several amenities, including showers. On a recent trip from Dubai to San Francisco with a layover in Newark, I took the opportunity to visit the Polaris Lounge there. However, I was disappointed to find that the cleanliness of the shower facility was below par. The walls were smeared in soap scum, hair particles obstructed the drainage, and there was a smudge of poop stain in the toilet bowl. This was surprising, given that the lounge was almost empty at 7 a.m. and should be cleaned after every user. The lounge's seating area also showed signs of wear and tear. A few chairs in a secluded corner with a view of the runway had torn fabric. Despite these two issues, I found the lounge to be a comfortable and relaxing place to spend a few hours. The food and drink were excellent, and the staff was friendly and attentive. One of the best things about the Polaris Lounges I've visited in San Francisco and Chicago is the food and beverages. The a la carte menu features a variety of dishes presented in fine dining style that include appetizers, main courses, and desserts. The buffet also has a good selection of salads, sandwiches, and hot dishes. The bar has a wide selection of wines, beers, and cocktails. I would recommend the Polaris Lounge to business-class passengers flying through Newark Airport. It is a great place to relax, work, or enjoy a meal before your flight. Pros: - Spacious and airy - Plenty of seating areas to relax or work - Full-service bar - Dining area with a la carte dining and a buffet - Showers and amenities - Excellent food and drink - Friendly and attentive staff Cons: - Can be crowded during peak times - Inconsistent cleanliness

Yelp
How is this place so packed? Depending on when you go it may be hard to find a seat. Its nice and upscale, pretty large. They do have a seating dining area of if you want to have a waiter come by and serve you a fresh meal and drinks. I had the burger, it wasn't terrible. They also have a buffet of hot food, charcuterie, salad, snacks, coffee and teas.

Yelp
Really nice Polaris Lounge. Super nice employees very willing to help with anything. Tons of food options; veg non veg. Headed to Maldives tonight via Dubai; not driving. Fly United.

Yelp
The Polaris lounge in Terminal C was a great opportunity to retreat from the masses prior to boarding my flight to ZRH. The lounge was very crowded but nonetheless quiet, clean, and comfortable. There was a reasonable selection of food items, plenty of drinks. Free Wi-Fi is obvious.

Yelp
I've bene in several times and while the food is noticeably better than the standard UA lounges it isn't blow your mind better. The buffet has some decent options to choose from, usually pasta, vegetable sides and some proteins along with soup and salad. The last time I used the sit down restaurant it took 1 1/2 hours to get a burger. Absurd. The bar used to be the best part, top flight cocktails and excellent champagnes/wines but it was not nearly as good as when it first opened. When you drop money on a international flight you expect better in the soft product area.

Yelp
Nice and spacious lounge with plenty of seating. The dining room requires a short wait but the food quality is slightly better than the buffet. Service is a tad slow but I guess the lounge is pretty busy. Restrooms and spacious and clean. Don't miss out on the skillet cookie from the dining room!

Yelp
The quick version. Lots of places to sit and outlets everywhere. Food is pretty good. Staff is friendly. This is supposed to be the biggest and best lounge in untieds entire network. The food selection was pretty good. The sit down dining room was nice, but the food wasn't that much better then the food in the self serve section. The sit down dining room can have a wait so if yoy come during a busy time go and put your name down on the waitlist right away. There are 2 desks with united ticket agents to help you with your flights inside the lounge which was nice. There is also shower rooms but those are subject to availability. Overall this lounge is pretty nice but I still prefer the flagship lounge and flagship first dining for American airlines better.

Yelp
I haven't flown through Newark since I worked in finance and had to go back and forth to NYC. I was pleasantly surprised by this Lounge. Very large, Nicely laid out, Friendly staff. Food selection was okay. Bar selection was sort of sad but they had enough. Let's face it any lounge away from the masses has to be sorta good right?

Yelp
Unfortunately I spent the evening in Newark airport after missing by 15 minutes the last flight out from Newark to London. Since I had a Polaris ticket, I was afforded the good fortune of being able to come to this lounge. It was my first time truly appreciating the opportunity to use the shower facilities. The lounge was open at 5 am. I went at 5:30 and was able to shower and grab a quick breakfast before an 8 am flight. The team were professional and very helpful !! Thank you for the facility and kindness.

Yelp
United offers the most competitive business class in the Americas and I was pleased with my visit to their Polaris lounge at Newark. The large and welcoming lounge offers sit-down and buffet dining plus a full bar. The setting is elegant and spotless. I had 10 hours on my layover and enjoyed lunch and dinner. Both meals were delicious. I got to freshen up with a shower in their spa-like bathroom and it was lovely. The shower staff provided all the amenities plus slippers! Each seat - whether at the restaurant, bar or workstation has power outlets. The staff was all friendly and pleasant. I'll definitely choose United over Delta and American going forward.

Yelp
Probably one of the best lounges in America. Great place to relax and rejuvenate before our flight to London The buffet option was ehh but def get a seat in the dining room. Burger was amazing and really filled me up. The skillet cookie with ice cream was such a cute and clever design. The warm cookie paired with the delicious vanilla ice cream scoop was to die for I also loved the shower that they had as well

Yelp
I travel relatively frequently through EWR for work and I must say the airport in general doesn't rank high on my list. I typically fly a Star Alliance airline through terminal B and I don't even want to give their Lufthansa lounge a review, it is that bad. What I never realized is that as a Star Alliance Gold member you can use the Polaris lounge in terminal C. This lounge is a world of difference vs their sister in the other terminal. To me the best part is the bar with real bar service, I had several martinis and I must say they were really good. The food offering was also really varied and good so no complaints there. Next time I fly via EWR you'll find me in this lounge. PS: there is a bus between terminals so you don't have to pass TSA security check twice if your flight leaves from another terminal.

Yelp
This lounge is becoming too small for its patrons! It's very busy today. Seating is comfortable. Bathrooms needed attention. They serve food at a buffet or you can reserve at the restaurant area which is pleasant. Showers are available as is a "quiet" area. There are several "phone booths" but they are being used by people with computers who are seeking privacy. There are drink and snack stations plus a full bar. Charging plugs are available at most seats. This is so much better than elsewhere in the terminal.

Yelp
One of the better Polaris lounges - it has ample seating and very good service. The restaurant also had no wait and is a better option than eating onboard. Highly recommend stopping in if you're flying Polaris.

Yelp
This was my first visit back to the United Polaris Lounge at EWR since March of 2020 (beginning of the pandemic). Overall, it was a pleasant surprise to see all of the amenities back in the lounge including both the buffet and the 'made to order' restaurant. Service was quite pleasant throughout my stay and the lounge was clean and well stocked. Looking forward to my next visit!

Yelp
Hit or miss for food depending on timing they were running out of things. Liked the breakfast better than the dinner spread. Even had scrambled egg whites available. You put your name on for the shower. It was very nice and even had hairdryers but you have to ask. Didn't get made to order food it was a very long wait.

Yelp
The food is outstanding. We thought we were sitting in a quiet area behind the front lounge next to the restaurant area. This is apparently where the employees stand to complain and discuss their shifts, other employees with attitudes and their second jobs. Nobody welcomed us except the gentleman at the front door to see our passports. Honestly, I never give negative reviews, but feel United can do better. The ambiance should be relaxed, professional, and traveler-focused. Folks come here to relax, refresh and recharge. We do not come here to feel like we are in the way, which is how this visit is perceived. Not to mention, I am visually impaired, and not once in about three hours have any of these people who are obviously not busy , stopped to ask if we needed anything. I am a frequent long-haul traveler, and I have good feedback for United as a whole. Here are photos of the restrooms. Best wishes and I hope you take this in the sprit given, which is constructive to be aware and improve.

Yelp
I had a very good experience with United's Polaris Lounge in Newark of all places. During my visit it was crowded but not overwhelmingly so. What I liked was the sit down meal included. The server recommended the fish and it was prepared and seasoned well. The server was great and other airlines typically only offer buffet style. The host was a drill sergeant which did not fit with Club experience but then again this was Newark.

Yelp
This is a very nice place to wait for an international or first class flight. They have a very large, spread out, seating area with everything from couches to more private desk spaces. The food is split between two self serve buffet lines as well as a sit down restaurant with table service. I didn't have time for the restaurant because there was a wait list but the menu is posted by the host stand and everything is complimentary. I also did not get to see the shower suites but the women's restroom was very disappointing. There were only two stalls and a continuous waiting line. For the large size of the lounge, I would have expected more. It's possible that the shower suites had restrooms. There was also a very long line for the bar - which moved so slowly that I wasn't able to get to the front. I do recommend this lounge if it's included with your airline tickets - and definitely try the homemade chocolate chip cookies!
