The Picts: Mysterious 'Painted People' of Scotland Who Were Almost Erased From History

"An academic institution where scholars have studied and taught early medieval art, sculpture, and metalwork; it served as the place where a researcher first encountered Pictish picture stones and became devoted to their study. Faculty-led research and courses here have supported excavations and broader efforts to analyze and interpret Pictish artifacts and history." - Stacey Leasca Stacey Leasca Stacey Leasca is an award-winning journalist and co-founder of Be a Travel Writer, an online course for the next generation of travel journalists. I had a wonderful time during my LLM program. I feel fortunate to have spent my best days at this beautiful, historic institute. The staff, especially the administration of the School of Law, were very supportive and cooperative throughout my stay in Aberdeen. I lived with my family, and I would recommend Aberdeen as a family-friendly city. I resided near Seaton Park, which is right next to the University, it was a great place to spend time with family and friends. Aberdeen has a lot to offer for the students, particularly when it comes to exploring the city’s rich history and the natural beauty of the surrounding areas.

An excellent University with a proud history and tradition, outstanding academic excellence and a warm heart for students. A pleasure and a privilege to have such an institution in the midst of Scotland’s 3rd largest economy.

My great great grandfather went to this university, so we all turned up to see if we could find some family history. What an Incredible place. Wish I had gone here to study

Very charming; great place to study, but even if you're a tourist you can find few places at the campus for magical harry potter-esque photos

Finally visited the hidden gem of St Machar's Cathedral today, having passed through the University precincts on many occasions. The wooden ceiling, dating from 1520s is incredible to see, and reminded me of the Stirling Heads of Stirling Castle.

Beautiful atmosphere and tourist attraction. It is essential to remember that the University of Aberdeen is not the same as King's College, even though King's College is a part of it. The University of Aberdeen was formed in 1860 by the merger of two colleges: King's College (founded in 1495) and Marischal College (founded in 1593). King's College is one of the university's historic campuses and is frequently mentioned in conjunction with the university's history.

Huge complex of the university buildings, in a beautiful area, near the beach and sport centre. Being just beside Old Aberdeen gives it a special, antique university feeling, yet the city centre with the shops and entertainment is only 10 minutes by bus or 25 minutes walk. A great place to start to explore Aberdeen if you're a tourist and an amazing place to study!

Yelp
The morning of Sunday 7 July 2019, I went on a meandering walk through Old Aberdeen. One of the places I explored on foot was the University of Aberdeen, including King's College. The University campus is cozy and has clearly marked buildings. Campus members were friendly in their interactions. Vines up the front of one of the buildings showed color change from red to green (red higher up, green lower down). Breaks in the clouds let the sunlight shine through and illuminate different buildings. A chapel with sculptured tomb on campus had various people trickling in and out, perhaps for a morning service.

Yelp
First of all I didn´t / don´t study here. I just visited this campus as a tourist. So this is what I wanna tell you. It´s a really nice place to have a walk around. I love the architecture. Someone told me that it looks like Hogwarts. Well, not really but it´s still amazing. It´s like studying at the medieval castle. Kind a romantic. It´s definitely worth the walk from the centrum. Or you can take bus but good walk is good walk :-)
