As a previous student, I would not recommend the university for a undergrad. My internship was absolutely horrible and placed 2 hour commute away, never again!! I would recommend being more attentive to student needs, and please check the staff some professors are horrible and don’t care about their students!!!

Google
Worst school ever!! It has been nothing but issues with them. No one ever responds and gives you the run around when asking questions. I have completed my courses during the summer but for some reason they still have me active and with holding my transcripts. This is preventing me from taking my licensure exam. I’m now being told I will have to wait until the end of December to receive my documents. I would not suggest this school to anyone!!!

If you end up having any problems whether thats enrollment or financial aid, you basically have to go up there/call over and over and then become borderline belligerent for them to offer any practical solutions. Otherwise, prepare to jump through multiple hoops before they ultimately congratulate you for figuring out the problem yourself.

Google
Worst admission staff I’ve ever seen. I’m so glad I went with a different school. Stephanie only created issues. And even the director Daniel seemed to be bothered by questions. I still never received an answer from them. Definitely seem to be discriminating towards students with different backgrounds. I feel like since I didn’t grew up in the states they only gave me the ran around for my transcripts and had me spent $700 on translations just to never even answer. I hope they all get fired for such unprofessional behavior.

This university has complex courses across many universities in USA, the grading system is complex and the curriculum in every course is hard, you will be burdened with too many assignments, too many exams and complex projects. Getting good grades is a huge challenge.

Google
I do not recommend this institution. The courses are so inconsistent and the way students are graded in graduate level courses should be investigated, it’s very inconsistent and unfair. The feedback will not add up to the grade given. Do not waste your money here. Courses are way too expensive to allow these folks to play with my money. I’ll be enrolling elsewhere to continue my education journey.

Ha i now have the list of banned Chinese apps installed on my personal phone along with uta apps like teams outlook and authenticator. and have even bought those banned hardwares from China. Now what fascists Sinophobes?

Loved the KINESIOLOGY Department! There was lots of extra help when needed if you asked for it.. I spent I lot of my time studying in the tutoring room. It helped quit a bit. At first it was a little overwhelming to find everything bit it isn’t to bad after the first week.

Yelp
Regarding UTa Career Development Center & CWEP: I'm an UTA alumni who got a CWEP internship the last year and half of my UG. CWEP isn't well known for some reason, but honestly one of the best experiences I had academic/career-wise. The CWEP employees at UTA are all very friendly and helpful, and Lockheed is such a great place to intern at! All majors please you should give it a shot (I'm not Aero but I got in)!

Yelp
Certainly! Here's a structured and clear review based on your experiences: I completed my BSN with the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA), paying all fees in cash and never missing a payment. While the BSN program had its flaws, it was manageable. The biggest issue was the lack of personal connection and guidance; advisors were constantly changing, and class assistants, rather than professors, seemed to be in charge. This created confusion about whom to approach for advice, and the assistants often graded harshly without providing constructive feedback. UTA's emphasis was excessively on APA formatting rather than on nurturing competent nurses, with grades focusing on citation minutiae over content and effort. Despite these challenges, I decided to pursue my Master's degree with UTA, hoping to keep all my qualifications from the same institution. This turned out to be a regrettable decision. Initially, things were manageable, albeit difficult, as I balanced new motherhood and a demanding ER nursing job. The same issues with communication persisted: advisors and teachers were unresponsive, often taking days to reply to emails, and there was no direct way to contact them. This left students feeling unsupported and isolated. The breaking point came when I was pregnant with my last daughter during the second wave of COVID-19, suffering from severe hyperemesis gravidarum. Despite my condition, I remained enrolled, as taking a break wasn't a feasible option. I failed one class just before starting clinicals, dropping my GPA to 2.999, just below the required 3.0. There was no outreach from my advisor or anyone from the school to discuss my academic standing or provide support. Instead, I was unceremoniously dropped from the program and denied the opportunity to retake the class. My appeals to the committee were ignored, and the school effectively abandoned me. UTA's handling of my situation was both cold and unprofessional. They took my money and then disappeared, disregarding my circumstances and dreams. In stark contrast, after giving birth, I transferred to Purdue Global. The support there was phenomenal: dedicated teachers, direct communication, and a nurturing environment. I am now thriving, with a 3.9 GPA, on the verge of graduating, and have successfully opened my own spa, utilizing the knowledge gained at Purdue Global. I strongly advise against enrolling at UTA for the Nurse Practitioner Master's program. Their lack of support and empathy can derail your educational and professional aspirations. Choose an institution that values and supports its students. I found that in Purdue Global and wish I had started there from the beginning.

Yelp
If you enjoy minimum wage and being treated like you don't matter, than this is the place for you. Even more if you enjoy incompetent women playing games and the men playing dumb. They claim benefits are a great reason to work here but who cares about retirement if you literally cannot pay your bills TODAY. My child also pay $5K a semester for an "education" here but his English teacher is from Taiwan and barely speaks English. Meanwhile foreign students are getting FREE tuition while a Texas resident cannot. WTF?!

Krysten C.

Yelp
This is specific to one situation and staff member - UT@A advertises an outside platform for classes including a discount code but doesn't accept the classes for transfer. When I inquired about why I was met with hostility and rudeness to the point that I had to literally say "I'm not going to argue with you about this" to the Senior Enrollment Counselor Julie Garcia Flores. It was quite the eye opener. If I had to work with her on anything to attend this school, I'd definitely find another school to attend. Her defensive attitude, quick temper and condescending tone are a huge blight on the entire university. Thankfully, I have spoken with numerous other staff that have redeemed the school for me. But she is terrible and should not hold any position that requires any interaction with people.

Yelp
Do not waste your time or money at this university. I graduated with a B.A. History and a minor in Disability Studies. All they taught was leftist indoctrination that I was not able to apply outside the university. My professors went on about "inspiration porn" (which is really just admiring people with disabilities for accomplishing milestones, which is a big deal for some people). I took one course "Cyborgs and Prosthetics" (the title of the course says it all) that had no textbooks and was 100% theoretical. I passed the course with an A, but wished I didn't waste my time.

Yelp
Entering graduate school has been the most stressful experience with college I have EVER had (and I've been to three different ones!). The teachers here, other than Professor Karen Magruder (some teachers even use her lecture material for their class.. just lazy!), are completely useless and unorganized. The syllabus doesn't align with coursework, they're impossible to get a hold of, and don't even get me started on the SW Foundation Year Advisor, George Jauss! He shows no effort in doing his job, answering your questions, or helping you as an ADVISOR should. I had to contact 5 other advisors before I was FINALLY able to receive my degree plan from him. It's a SHAME how much students have to pay to earn a degree and then we're faced with "Professionals" who don't even try or care about helping us earn that degree!

Koe L.

Yelp
Toured this beautiful campus with my daughter. First thought... had no idea this university was literally 35 minutes away. The campus is gorgeous by itself but it was the on-campus living that set this place apart from some others that I've seen. No commitment yet, but we have time. If you're looking for that big campus living and experience please visit UTA you won't regret it.

Dean T.

Yelp
I've been working with them to get into the accelerated nursing program. Admissions somehow said I had went to schools I had never been to and so I had to get letters of nonattendance from those schools. I sent the letters over 3 times to the UTA Admissions email but they can't find. I also sent one to Ms Beavers the director of admissions. This staff doesn't care about potential students and are very lazy! The president of this college needs to clean house in the admissions department!

Zinnia G.

Yelp
Amazing campus and welcoming environment! I graduate this May as a first generation college student and I also met my husband here.. forever a MAVERICK

Yelp
My time in the UTA CWEP program, working at Lockheed Martin, was an incredible experience. The hands-on opportunity gave me a true insight into the industry. Interacting with professionals at a company of such high caliber enriched my skills and knowledge beyond measure. I'm truly grateful to UTA for offering this platform, which has undoubtedly paved the way for my future career success.

Andrewzki L.

Yelp
Affordable and life changing. College is what you make of it and leveraging every tool that a school will give you is key. UTA offers that if you are going into Business School or you will be. Go to the career center and ask Joseph Whiting about the CWEP program. Right when I graduated I got landed a career and now making a livable wage with fantastic potential for growth.

Yelp
Advisors do not care about you. I worked with Kyleigh Easter, M.Ed. Academic Advisor I. I met with her MULTIPLE TIMES, to make sure I was on track with my major and minor. I am due to graduate in two weeks, and she is now telling me I am missing one class, (ONE CLASS THAT I COULD HAVE TAKEN THIS SUMMER). Her response is "I'm sorry, you have to drop your minor". Advisors, your job is literally to advise us, how can you mess this up? I am so disappointed. I worked my butt off and now it's for nothing??? I am not getting any help. I am beyond disappointed and just so confused. I thought UTA would be a great experience but after this... I would warn anyone considering applying / going.

Google A.

Yelp
the worse school at communicating and advisors are annoyed anytime they have to assist in anything...if i knew the process trust me i wouldn't be on hold for almost an hour to listen to an advisor with an uhhmmm answer im sure that's not how they answer to their professors when they went to school too bad im almost done and transferring is a hassle do not attend this school

Chris W.

Yelp
I made a massive mistake attending this "university." Their course system lied about how long it would take me to graduate, the quality of the courses was poor, and now they are trying to extort me for overcharges through a collection agency that they will not address when I contact them. Every time I contact UTA, I receive no response or they direct me to somebody else. They didn't even tell me the fees were going to a collection agency until after the fact. You as a student are their last priority.

Karen S.

Yelp
This university is all about their numbers. They do not care about the students. They require you to take classes you will literally never use and have nothing to do with your degree. The majority of the professors just care about tenure and not about their students. I do realize most universities have the same scenario to a certain degree, but UTA truly takes it to another level.

Cat N.

Yelp
I might be the cheapest person on the planet but I get super annoyed when UTA reach out for donations. 1. You are not needy nor are you feeding anybody hungry/in need 2. Did you not make enough from my high tuition? 3. I'm not donating my money to you so you can use it on scholarships that I didn't get BYE

Yelp
New testing policy for the side view camera position. Students are given pictures of a camera position but not proper equipment to achieve the position. I was flagged by my biology instructor for not following directions on the proper side view cam position. I filed a grievance arguing that requiring students to have a camera position that is impossible to achieve with standard equipment is not fair to the students. You can clearly see in the pictures below that guy has either a floor mount or and second desk to mount his camera to. I dont have two desks or a floor mount so i was told to stack things up on top of eachother which creates a hazard for children and pets. I met with the instructor to speak on the issue. So we met in person and discussed the situation. My understanding is that the University of Texas at Arlington department of biology wants students to setup a side facing camera angle from a distance but does not provide any guidance or equipment on how to do this. I was told to get creative use books and stack things on top of eachother to achieve the correct camera angle. I dont find this acceptable for a University policy. How can the Biology department expect students to achieve a certain camera angle without proper equipment or instructions? The instructions provided only shows a camera angle but not how to achieve that camera angle. And yet we are penalized for it if something is not acceptable. How can you penalize students for something that we are not given proper instructions on? Stacking books on a chair is not a safe method of achieving a camera angle especially for people that have small children or pets in their home. My understanding is that this method was developed as a way to adapt to student cheating however most of the other departments at UTA dont do this. Iv been here consecutively throughout the last year and a half and iv never been told to achieve a camera angle and just get creative and figure it out. Students shouldn't have to stack things up on chairs creating a hazard just to take a test. If the University of Texas Arlington Biology department wants students to achieve this camera angle then they should provide proper mounts to facilitate it in a safe manner not simply tell students to get creative and stack books on chairs. I was told by another student that this side camera testing issue is the reason why he failed Biology 1333 last semester. I don't recommend this school. Its been nothing but headaches from covid policy all the way to the unorganized ways of doing things. Seems like the instructors makeup rules as they go along. There's no accountability. THIS SCHOOL IS HORRIBLE. SOO BAD THAT THEY EVEN HAD GOOGLE REMOVE THEM FROM GOOGLE REVCIEWS BECAUSE OF THE OVERWHELMINGLY LARGE NUMBER OF BAD REVIEWS THEY RECIVED. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR, DO NOT GO TO THIS SCHOOL.

Yelp
Love the campus. A really nice environment. Glad I was able to visit. Might sign up one day. The dorm rooms are really nice and comfy too. Safe parking spots.

Yelp
I tried pursuing this university online with my rn-bsn. They have poor communication over the phone. Every time I called, they had me on hold for over 20 mins and I would just hang up. Every time I finally got to talk to someone, they had no idea how to help me. If you are doing this online, don't. They have poor customer service and being an online out of state student, nothing will get done for you. They don't even email back. Don't waste your time on this school. Go somewhere that appreciates your enrollment and treats you with respect and not like another number and paycheck. Update: I got my BSN at Central Methodist University. It is a great school with competitive prices. The classes were a breeze and totally achievable with working full time.

Aishwarya N.

Yelp
UTA is probably the worst university. The advising and the international affairs are heartless and rude. PERIOD They have all the good for nothing amenities just for SHOWOFF!!!!!!! I had to travel to my country on emergency to visit my sick mother who was in a very critical condition and they did literally nothing to help me out with it! The process to even talk in case of an emergency was 2-3 days!!!!!!!!!!!! Just a good for nothing and service!!!! ALL THEY KNOW IS TO MAKE YOU WAIT TO GIVE YOU MORE DISAPPOINTING NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Toryn F.

Yelp
I was a student here over 3 years ago, I requested my transcript and was informed they are being held due to an $88 med bill balance from 2019 I NEVER knew about...NEVER received a bill or email regarding it. They stated they send all communications through the student portal, and if you're no longer a student you have no access to the information. So HOW was I supposed to know I had an outstanding balance!?...I called Thursday 6/16 to pay the bill, but they don't take payments over the phone-only mail in, in person, or one time account access. I opted for one time account access and the password/instructions don't work or reflect the actual webpage, I call back and was told it doesn't really work with Google chrome -try fire fox. That should've been included in the original email don't you think. Anyway, here I am 5 days later-still no resolution in sight. It's unfortunate that this campus is touting its technological advances yet can grant access for a student bill to be paid over the phone or online.

Yelp
My Daughter has been trying to get into their nursing program for sometime now and nothing has been done. She has and still is taking some classes they recommend and still to no avail. She is making good grades on the classes and they still will not help her at all. Beware they will make is sound good but good luck in getting into this school. By the way, She has been put on a waiting list. With what going on in the world today you would think they would get all students that are interested in nursing. GOOD LUCK (BEWARE)!

Heather W.

Yelp
No help. No advising. No one answers phones or emails. I missed a whole semester bc the advisor had a hold on my account and I was unable to reach her (Ms.Marable) for months. The hold was just regarding that I meet with an advisor, which I did, but she forgot to release the hold. It never ends every department is struggling. They don't have enough staff for sure. But that doesn't stop them from taking our money for the classes. Field is just as bad as advising. The most unorganized, disrespectful staff I've ever experienced. Incompetence at its finest. Save yourself the headache and apply somewhere else.

Starr P.

Yelp
What a great university! LOVE the art Dept and the helpful staff I've found there, particularly as an older student in my 50s. Even the students (teens and early twenties) have been warm and welcoming as well as quite entertaining and energetic. While parking is challenging given the 50k students that attend here per semester, I go EARLY (before 7 am), park early (photo where I parked if different from my regular location to make sure I can find my way back easily ) and enjoy the scenic walk before the campus is jam packed and filled w activity. My arts professor is informative and assists the class while thoughtful and engaged. Since I have some challenges working efficiently w technology, though I do my best, fellow students offer suggestions and ideas while our professor answers any and every question I have via email- there would totally be five stars if parking were optimized for the commuting students, particularly given the distance and effort to get from the parking to the buildings for the "mature" students.

Kyle H.

Yelp
I've never associated a single positive emotion with this school. Everyday I'm here I feel like I lose a part of me.

Tamara D.

Yelp
Coming here is like standing in line at the dmv for 1hr and finding out you need to be in a completely different line first. Many of their processes could easily be filtered through one department with proper training. They charge and exorbitant amount for fees (going towards their remodel). The students that work in records need training to boost their confidence in their job positions. I absolutely hate coming to this admin bldg P.s. The number listed online goes to a call center downstairs, and no one is in that department. I was on hold for 48 min without answer. My experience with UTA, is similar to waiting to speak with a helpful person when you call the IRS.

Valerie M.

Yelp
UT Arlington has to be the worst school to go to in Texas. Their customer service is horrible. Long waits on the phone to be greeted rudely like they are annoyed by you before you had even talked to them. If you email them, 4 out of 5 they won't reply back or respond weeks later. This caused me to miss the deadline to start fall classes because it took them over a month to respond to my email to see an advisor. Sha'londa is the worst advisor I've ever met. Does she not like students and her job?? Their TAs count answers wrong when the answer is correct and they don't answer to emails either. You can tell some professors are only there for the check and not want to teach. What they charge for parking is ridiculous because you can't even find a parking space. How is this school charging such high tuition for shitty services and learning experience???!!! They are greedy and don't care about their students!!

Maria W.

Yelp
I took a campus tour here and it was steamy tour. The campus is really huge and you do have to walk a distance before you get to another building. The campus has a lot to offer and a lot of things to do on campus too. They have an indoor track, lots of fitness activities, and a bowling alley. They even have a planetarium. If you are going for nursing, this is a number one school in Texas. They have a very excellent nursing program. Food options aren't bad, they have all of the selections from Vietnamese, to Greek, from Mexican, to BBQ---to American. They have it all! Even--pizza, coffee, everything just on campus. I just don't like how if you wanna go to a play or an event on campus, it isn't free nor can you just use your student ID. You have to pay out of pocket even if you are a student there. That really sucks. Also, they don't care much about the scenery of this campus. They don't have any colorful flowers or anything. The yard isn't much kept up and I do feel bad for the plants they have weeds overlapping them. Grass needed to be weedeated, and cut. I also spoke with the Biology advisor, she was really nice and friendly. She gave me a degree plan to all the classes I needed to take under my Biology major for a Bachelor's degree of Science. That was very very helpful!! Mrs. Pugh (the advisor) she even gave me a list of universities in Texas that do have a PT program. The city of Arlington isn't bad at all, its actually is a nice city with lots to do. As though, before I thought the city would be rural and its as urban as Houston of course my bad. Not a bad campus, but also not a superb campus either. I probably won't attend here since they don't have a PT program.

Michael H.

Yelp
Y'all's wifi sucks, how am I going to do any assignments or studying done if there is no wifi! Everyone sucks here and people are only here because they didn't get into any UT school and just want a knock off education!

Shayla B.

Yelp
Worst school ever, they do not assist students with being successful in their field. Getting a degree at this school would be the worst thing you ever done.

Dana H.

Yelp
This school doesn't value the money their students are dishing out. They are rude unhelpful and unorganized- my experience getting a masters degree was a nightmare

Morgan M.

Yelp
I had high hopes with UTA but I must admit, I have been incredibly disappointed with their student services. You're incapable of speaking with a human being within a reasonable time frame. the RN to BSN program lets you take the courses as as quickly as you'd like but you have to take many in a specific order due to them not recommending being doubled up. I personally would recommend a different university at this time because I am very disappointed with how they charge you copious fees, and again, nobody has any answers when you are trying to organize your life around school.

Ahmade C.

Yelp
The admissions counselors here are unprofessional. Lack of communication, awful attitudes, possibly the worst admissions department I have dealt with yet. You practically have to chase them down just to get responses in regards to important information. Laziness and rude behavior at its finest; I would not recommend this "university" to anyone. Do yourself a favor and go to UNT, at least they go out of their way to make you feel welcome and do their jobs.

Tara M.

Yelp
Nice campus. It is pretty big. There are several places to eat at. Panera Bread, Pie Five pizza, Starbucks, Bombay Chopsticks and many more. Located right in downtown Arlington. Six Flags, Texas Rangers, and the ATT Stadium are within miles. There is plenty to do. The dorms are all nice. Very inviting area. Easy to find.

Krista R.

Yelp
I got here to early for my advisement appointment, so figured I could write a review while I wait..ha. Doing pre requisites for nursing and last year transferred to UTA when I decided to just go BSN and to have a backup. I'm in the AP program where you do your classes and everything solely online. Advisor wanted to see me to explain order of last few classes so I'm here! I haven't been on campus that much. Mostly just in Pickard Hall. The academic partnership program is nice. I have never had a problem with any of the professors or coaches. It's nice not having to leave your house for school, but with kids sometimes you wish you could. Lol. Kidding. So far it's a lovely school. Nursing has both off campus and online options. 5 more classes left and I can apply to the nursing program!!!

Jonathon S.

Yelp
Harvard this not, but if you're looking for a great local school, this is your place. Plus, if do well here, you can always transfer to Harvard, which some of my classmates actually did. I went here for six or so years, so I took the long path, and went through several majors. But, throughout my journey, I always felt like professors and the administration was trying to make sure I maximized my experience, both practical and collegial. The university was also career focused, including offering experiential trainings and internships. And, as most of UTA's professors are from the business world, not just academics, they have a plethora of contacts throughout your chosen industry. As for the campus itself, it is beautiful. There is art everywhere (all student created), fountains, plants, and newly built and remodeled buildings across campus. And, with all of the new campus housing, Greek Row, clubs, bars, restaurants, etc., if you're looking for it, you can get the traditional college experience. Just be careful out there! All in all, I would definitely recommend UTA if you're looking for a great local university that can be a springboard to a better life.

David A.

Yelp
Overall a great experience! Best ROI! The University of Texas at Arlington is the largest Texas university by enrollment in the Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington metropolitan area. UT Arlington is a very diverse school with international students from every continent in the world. Classes are challenging and do require dedication and effort. Professors are willing to help you succeed. Students are friendly and eager to learn. There are many restaurants on-campus or within walking distance. UTA offers several on-campus housing options and there are also many apartments to choose from near campus and throughout the Metroplex. The Maverick Activities Center is a great place to work out and stay in shape. The Lockheed Martin Career Development Center at UTA offers support and opportunities for students. UT Arlington is in the middle of the DFW Metroplex, a region with the third-largest concentration of Fortune 500 companies in the United States. UTA is just a few blocks away from Texas Live!, AT&T Stadium, Globe Life Field, Six Flags Over Texas, The Parks at Arlington Mall. And a short driving distance to Downtown Fort Worth, West 7th, Fort Worth Stockyards, Downtown Dallas, Uptown Dallas, and the DFW International Airport. You could also visit Las Colinas Entertainment District-Irving, The Star District-Frisco, Village on the Parkway-Addison, and many more attractions, shopping, dining, and entertainment in all the different cities in DFW.

Alyssa J.

Yelp
I wish I could leave a zero star review. This college acts more like a business entity than a university. It does not care about the students. Customer service is awful, they find every way they can to screw over students and take every cent they can. Do yourself a favor and choose somewhere else.

Lisa B.

Yelp
Would not recommend. They do not care about any struggles you have learning, financial or otherwise. The bottom dollar is their priority, not your learning experience You are merely a number there.

Y L.

Yelp
I am a transfer student from TCC and went through one semester here at UTA. As a newly transfer student, a university is very different to me. Most of the teachers (professors) here are nice but expect you to know everything (some will be upset when you ask too many questions). Overall, I like this school well and know, and aware that this is not a community college (TCC) anymore. The only bad part is the parking and the library fee-$400/semester-no free printing. I pay $110 a semester to park on campus and you will spend a lot of time (mostly) to find a parking space that isn't always close to your class building. The good thing is that you may park at a faculty parking lot after 5/6/7 pm depending on the lot and all at weekends. Looking forward to a more fun and enjoyable education journey in UTA.

Ciara J.

Yelp
I am so glad that I decided to come here. Such a diverse campus with multiple opportunities at your fingertips! Great professors, staff and atmosphere! Buck 'Em Mavs!

Lindsey H.

Yelp
Worst costumer service ever. Ordered my transcripts to transfer and they denied it you can't deny a transfer. Professors are terrible and don't take the time to actually teach the material needed to succeed in a class. Overall I would give them a zero if I could.

Elizabeth R.

Yelp
Your experience at a university is what you make it. From what I've seen, UTA has awesome resources for its students. It's just a matter of taking advantage of the opportunities available to you to make your college experience as advantageous as possible. I am looking forward to my time at UTA!

Major H.

Yelp
If you go to a school because of a Yelp review, your priorities might not be where they should ;) The school is expensive with limited justification of fees. The administration does what they are told with minimal regard to student life. Transfer students always take a backseat. Parking is horrific with no advance notice of events that affect parking. Minimal employer turnout to job expos. People are nice, but as a whole, they don't have your general interests in mind. If you are going, take your basics at DCCCD or TCC. Source: In my 5th semester at UTArlingon. Worked at the Shorthorn (school paper). 40 minute commute commute one-way.

Nathan L.

Yelp
Difficult parking. Lots of crime on and around campus - most dealing with valuable items being stolen but every month or two someone gets robbed at gunpoint. The few parking lots they have are poorly lit and there really isn't much of a police/security presence as they claim they're always working on adding more. Instructors are hit or miss. For every great one there is an equally miserable one, but I guess you find that at most public universities. If you are from the area and want to save some cash and go to a local university, then this is not a bad place to go. The on campus math/science related clinic offer free assistance. The only "disappointment" I have is there lack of sporting events here and general lack of any social atmosphere. Not much of that at UTA so come here to get your education and get out. If you're relocating here for school and don't know anyone in the area, then good luck!

Yelp
Coming here was a mistake. The COB advising sucked because they take forever to get an appointment and don't accept walkins for advising at all. The COB prof majority seem to be lacking too since I had three worst professors at my first semester of UTA. Thomas Thompson for example was the worst finance professor. He didn't provide the exact answers on how the grading policy really works and his tests were ridiculously hard. He says it's a "department" thing so he has no idea what will be on the tests. His TA was also rude to me when I have asked to review my exam the day before the exams. The department needs an attitude change. Even my programming professor, Carolyn Davis, for INSY, was horrible due to her scoffing at the class for any questions on code. Seriously, how are these professors qualified to teach? I only passed one class with a high B but I feel it is rare to find a professor who is legit and straightforward unlike the other business professors here on campus. The worst part is I am on scholarship for maintain a strong GPA from TCC. That is going to hurt me from the long run because I dropped two classes and made a D in finance no thanks to Dr. Thompson. Parking here is a joke because I have to pay at least 210 for the year, yet all the lots are full. No where to park at a decent location. Was my tuition not enough to cover for parking? Takes 15 minute to get to class from the lots since I don't live on campus; I usually come around midday. All these little misfortunes led me to misery and hopelessness. I wished I would have chosen a better school. I'm all about affordability and UTA does have a good price but they're services are lacking academically and business wise. I got nothing else to add for this worst place. I have few suggestions that the school needs to take seriously. One thing for sure is to improve parking for those who don't live on campus or near Arlington. Second, provide better training to advisors because they just don't seem to know all the answers for which classes are most difficult and are clueless about who teaches them. Third, hire instructors who are far more qualified and not lazy like Thomas Thompson because he did absolutely nothing to provide the lectures that we paid for. His mumbling and sideshows did no good for me to pass. Hire qualified people, not quacks. Fourth, enforce stricter rules for students who violate the no tobacco policy. I see lots of wackos everywhere vaping e cigarette and I don't feel safe when it comes to certain areas full of pot smoking students. Now i want to leave, it pains me to do this but I don't want to go through another semester of hell with even worse classes that are beyond ridiculously hard taught by not so qualified instructors. I'm here for a purpose and that purpose diminished forever.

Yelp
I did the RN to BSN bridge program at UTA from El Centro College. It is called the The UT Arlington Professional Nursing Pathways Program. You can complete the RN to BSN program in 1 year while working full time as a RN. I did and it is possible, it is not easy, but it is possible! I never had to attend one class in person at UTA either, all my BSN classes were online which were super helpful while working. I graduated El Centro College with my ADN in May 2012, started UTA's program August 2012 and earned my BSN in August 2013! It was amazing, best part is I was able to work as an RN while get my BSN, so I had experience and in the end no student loans!

Yelp
As a graduate from the past I have had time to reflect. I agree with some of most reviews. The parking has always been poor. The professors always rude...if you had one. Too much is taught by rude TA"s who graduated the year before. Found little help within the system. One math instructor when asked by female student.."can you show me how you worked that out?" was told "You don't need to know how to get the answer" His cultural background reflected in his discomfort in teaching female students, and he didn't want them to succeed. That being said; for me it was a way to acquire the degree I needed to move on in life. If you find yourself in similar state, suck it up and get it done. If however you have options I would suggest a smaller college and ask before turning over money. DO the professors teach the classes. What is their background. What is the drop out rate of your classes. Is the campus smoke free, is it safe. How much of your donations do you throw away on sports? Feel folks will play sports for a living. All business and public buildings are smoke free, and the drink and drown King is not a strong contender for employment. Choose you college as you would choose your spouse. One that works with you, has similar social habits, goals, and plans for our future and that of our country. When leaving college and entering the work force the transition will be easier without your legacy tattooed on your body or your face and body speared like the dinner over charcoal. You will have better networks to work with and longer friendships you will not be embarrassed to introduce at the holidays. College is an extension your life path take it seriously and make it a good one.

Yelp
FANTASTIC UNIVERSITY! I love UTA so much. While people may bash it for being a commuter school, no school spirit, no football team, etc, I praise it for its amazing Nursing and Engineering programs, awesome faculty/staff, and great student organizations. In the heart of Arlington, UTA offers students access to a variety of surrounding restaurants and one of the biggest attractions in the United States: the AT&T Stadium. Believe it or not, UTA also has amazing school spirit. With over 300 student organizations, I find it hard to believe that a student can't find something that interests them. These involved students are what make the university flourish. The professors here are also top notch as well. All my classes were intriguing and the professors made it fun to learn. UTA being the 5th most diverse university in the nation doesn't hurt either, ehh? I am and always will be proud to be a Maverick!
