Certainly! Here's a structured and clear review based on your experiences:
I completed my BSN with the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA), paying all fees in cash and never missing a payment. While the BSN program had its flaws, it was manageable. The biggest issue was the lack of personal connection and guidance; advisors were constantly changing, and class assistants, rather than professors, seemed to be in charge. This created confusion about whom to approach for advice, and the assistants often graded harshly without providing constructive feedback. UTA's emphasis was excessively on APA formatting rather than on nurturing competent nurses, with grades focusing on citation minutiae over content and effort.
Despite these challenges, I decided to pursue my Master's degree with UTA, hoping to keep all my qualifications from the same institution. This turned out to be a regrettable decision. Initially, things were manageable, albeit difficult, as I balanced new motherhood and a demanding ER nursing job. The same issues with communication persisted: advisors and teachers were unresponsive, often taking days to reply to emails, and there was no direct way to contact them. This left students feeling unsupported and isolated.
The breaking point came when I was pregnant with my last daughter during the second wave of COVID-19, suffering from severe hyperemesis gravidarum. Despite my condition, I remained enrolled, as taking a break wasn't a feasible option. I failed one class just before starting clinicals, dropping my GPA to 2.999, just below the required 3.0. There was no outreach from my advisor or anyone from the school to discuss my academic standing or provide support. Instead, I was unceremoniously dropped from the program and denied the opportunity to retake the class. My appeals to the committee were ignored, and the school effectively abandoned me.
UTA's handling of my situation was both cold and unprofessional. They took my money and then disappeared, disregarding my circumstances and dreams. In stark contrast, after giving birth, I transferred to Purdue Global. The support there was phenomenal: dedicated teachers, direct communication, and a nurturing environment. I am now thriving, with a 3.9 GPA, on the verge of graduating, and have successfully opened my own spa, utilizing the knowledge gained at Purdue Global.
I strongly advise against enrolling at UTA for the Nurse Practitioner Master's program. Their lack of support and empathy can derail your educational and professional aspirations. Choose an institution that values and supports its students. I found that in Purdue Global and wish I had started there from the beginning.
