The young gentleman working today was absolutely wonderful. Incredibly helpful, very pleasant kind demeanor, and made sure this procrastinator is going to the birthday party with the perfect gift! The shop itself has such a nice feeling to it, and makes you feel like you just found something special.

Looking for a great selection of French (and others) wines? You have to check this shop out! Knowledgable and friendly owners and weekly tastings. Get on the email list for new arrivals. Go there!

This cute little wine shop has a great selection of French wines! They also have free tastings on the weekends! The owners are so wonderful and very knowledgeable, you need to check this place out!

A great selection of French wines and solid pricing

Excellent selection! Great prices. Skip the grocery store wine selection and come here instead

Google
Great selection of French wines at reasonable price. Proprietor is great at finding small producers. This is a must wine store if you enjoy fine wine by itself or with dinner. The owner and staff are helpful without being pretentious about pairing a wine with your meal at your price point. Just go! Also try to go for the in store events when the producer is there as well.

Whenever I want a distinct, small-producer wine to share with my wine-loving friends, University Wines remains one of my top choices, especially if I'm seeking something from the Burgundy region. The staff is impressively well-informed about wines and we often find ourselves picking up additional wines--there are some fantastic bargains--before we reach the register. I highly recommend checking out their Facebook page and following them for updates regarding new arrivals and free tastings on weekends.

My wife and I lived in Europe for 17 years and traveled extensively in 30 countries there, including the great wine countries of France and Italy. What a serendipity to discover University Wines when we moved back to this area, with such a great selection of European wines at super prices. The owner, Gordon, really does travel annually to make selections and knows his stuff. Do yourself a favor and visit U-Wines. You'll find something you really like and you'll be happy with the price and the service.

Yelp
The owner is so knowledgeable without being pretentious. He helped me pick out a few wines in my price range; one of which I'm drinking right now that is delightful! I will definitely be back.

Yelp
European wines only (mostly French). Small store with limited selection. Pretentious enough to display wines in Opus One boxes; too pretentious to actually sell Napa wine. Rude owner.

Yelp
Myself and two family members have left this shop feeling extremely insulted and uncomfortable. There is a tall older man with lots of hair that shows off his book and map every-time you go in. He told my mother the wine she likes is crap and that she likes chilled wine because she drinks crappy wine. When my sister went in he made an extremely racist comment about refugees in paris and how theyve made it gross there. It's very unfortunate because this shop has great wine and is super charming, but we'll refuse to go back due to this pretentious, racist, cocky employee. Bummer!

Yelp
Excellent wine shop. Too bad it is closing. I am always in awe of their selection of French and Italian wines.

Yelp
This is such a neat little nook of a wine store with wine tastings pretty much every weekend! The folks who run this shop are great and have extensive knowledge of everything they carry. If you need advice on where to go in France the owner is also more than happy to share his knowledge of wineries he has been to and made personal friends with. If you're looking for a special bottle for a gift or nice dinner they have super high end stuff, but if you're on a budget they also have bottles in the $9-$12 range up front as well. There's something for everyone here and even a punchcard for frequent buyers. With plenty of parking in this shopping center there's no excuse not to drop in here!

Yelp
I have been a customer for two decades now and I am sorry, but fully understand, that Gordon plans to sell his business. I hope the new owners are as knowledgeable and decent as Gordon. He invariably gives me discounts on cases of Bordeaux. While I do not comparison shop, I trust him to choose a wide variety of red wines, with occasional white port.

Yelp
I'm so grateful for this neighborhood gem. Gordon is incredibly helpful and helped me pick a few great wines for my more modest budget. One of the wines was the best Pinot Noir I've ever had! Every time I go to a grocery store, I get overwhelmed by the wine selection and no one is particularly helpful. Here, Gordon walks you through some great options and is very patient. He also tells great stories of the wineries and his trips to France.

Yelp
Gordon is fantastic - I've been coming on and off for years, and haven't been disappointed. Everyone who works here is friendly and knowledgeable about the product, and they are more than willing to offer help, whether you've no idea what you are looking for or you know precisely what it is that you need.

Yelp
Gordon travels to France...and now Italy...twice each year for an extended time. Over the years, he has developed personal relationships with the vintners throughout the wine-growing regions there. He buys directly from the producers. No middle man. Therefore, not only is the selection superb but the prices are a great deal for what you get. Each time I visit...and it's frequent...I get a fun education on wine and the parts of the French countryside Gordon tells me I must visit. I cannot imagine how a wine shop could be any better. We are fortunate to have this jewel in our city.

Yelp
Guess I can't check in from where I am...but I just placed an order for 6 bottles with Gordon. Excellent service, super friendly and so not your typical snobbish wine merchant. Gordon knows his stuff. He knows it so well, I tell him what I like and he recommends 6 wines for me to try. This is my second batch of 6 and I usually tell him to surprise me. I'm in the Vancouver, BC (Canada) area. Wine is not cheap here. In fact, to get the level of wines I'm seeing at University wines, I'd have to pay through my teeth. I have some friends heading down and I placed the order. A day later, the selection was ready and packed for pick up. A $40 bordeaux is easily $90-$120 here IF I can even find the label. So well worth whatever marginal expense there is to have it picked up or shipped/delivered - which I believe they do. Their selection of wines, at least what I'm lead to believe, is from a few select producers in France where Gordon travels to, samples and selects. Sounds like a hard life but I take solace in reaping the fruits of their labour. Sigh. Their selection, I'm guessing, is updated year over year and that's a good thing. If you're in the area, check them out. You don't know how good of a neighbourhood wine merchant you have until you live far, far from one.

Yelp
This wine shop is tucked behind City People's at that intersection where the bus stops, and I had seen it many times while sitting on the bus, then finally decided to try it. I'm glad I did! The Saturday I went in, which was several weeks ago now, and the man working there was super nice and helpful. He explained the owner specializes in a certain type of wine . . . now I can't remember which type . . . ugh . . . but anyway it's not a type I drink so I didn't buy any. If anyone finds out, please let me know and I can update my review. The walls were lined with all different types, and the employee there gave me a great recommendation for a $13 bottle of Champagne which was really, really nice. I'll definitely be back.

Yelp
Small but worthy. Since they don't have the room to carry every single wine made in the world, the selections they do have need to matter and be distinctive and they succeed admirably. I actually went in looking for something specific someone recommended I try and they didn't have it, BUT they offered to order it for me. Now that's great service.

Yelp
The wines here are in great condition. You can trust the merchandise in this store. This is a fun place to be if you like wine. Personally speaking, this is the best wine store in Seattle. The selection is great. Also the people here are very helpful. They won't recommend you a big name champagne or wine, but instead a wine made of the right grape for the right occasion. Again, the best wine store in Seattle, hands down.

Yelp
Maria's review pretty much hits the mark. It would be hard to give a wine shop this small a five star review, but the place is excellent in all other regards. The gentleman who helped us knew all the wines and made a great recommendation of a white Burgundy to take to a friend's house for dinner. The pricing seemed a buck or too high on the domestic, but they had good value for their large French selection. Like all my favorite wine shops, the key here is they clearly love wine and they buy what they love.

Yelp
Gordon never fails to make great recommendations - I don't think I've ever walked in and not asked him to suggest something in the price range I'm looking for, and have never been disappointed! Plenty of great wines at most price points about $10 and up. We love having his shop so close by in our neighborhood!

Sally T.

Yelp
I love this place. The owner has great taste and is committed and generous enough to offer suggestions for the less expensive bottles. He suggested two $10 bottles of French wine for me to serve to winery owners. He knew who i was serving and he knew what he was recommending. Everyone liked the wine. He can also offer good conversation about fly fishing and where to go in France. A gentle, low key, intelligent guy with a thoughtful selection of wine.

Colleen M.

Yelp
The wine shop is a little jewel with very personalized service. Each time I needed a wine, the match was just right. Gordon sometimes offers a taste of some of his special finds, and I usually am hooked. What is neat about their store is the wide range of wines from some rare northern italian reds to some more unusual wineries in California, in addition to the other favorites. Their prices are excellent, and they pass on the bulk deals to the customers when they get them. I never have had a bad recommendation, nor felt intimidated at this wine shop!

Yelp
this is a wonderful place. the selection is personal and every bottle is vetted by the staff. They know their wine and will listen to what you want and recommend very expertly for your preferences. When Gordon did not have what I wanted in the store for dinner, he actually went home and took something appropriate out of his own cellar for me. Are you kidding?? This is a great small place, they do not have everything but they will always give you a fine bottle of wine in your price range. When they have tastings the wine is not plonk, but excellent wine that usually sells out immediately. I recommend this store very strongly.
