Had the most amazing time doing their gelato workshop with a friend for her bachelorette celebration. The class was packed with so much value, where you first get to learn about gelato/sorbetto composition and ingredients. Then as a group we do specific tasks to eventually end up making gelato!! The class comes with a gelato flight tasting, one scoop of your flavor of choice and a pint of each flavor to take home!!! It was so worth it and I would highly recommend as a fun activity to do with friends/family/partners ❤️ Their classes usually only run from October to April but apparently they are planning to run classes once a week this year during the summer!!

Google
This review is for the gelato making workshop. Maestro Andres was our instructor for the night and he was wonderful, patient and kind. It was a lot of fun. Max 6 people per class, so it is reflected in the price of ~$70/person if I remember correctly. In exchange, you get 1.5 to 2 hr class time, take home 2 pints of gelato/sorbetto you made, 1 double scoop gelato and try a flight of predetermined gelato flavours. I would definitely recommend trying the class once, but do not expect that you will walk out being able to make gelato at home because for the sake of time, an unidentified mixture will appear and be added to the fresh ingredients.

Hot Chocolate Festival review only: Disappointing. I've come here a few times during the hot chocolate festival over the years, hoping that each time would prove a better experience than the last. This year we tried the one with mozzarella cheese because we were intrigued. It was partly as described but far from being a thicker concoction, as described on the website, it was super thin and watery, there was hardly any chocolate taste and the cheese was clumped at the bottom and barely melted. The bread and crackers included became a mushy mess. The only highlight was the sorbetto that was included with another drink and has a nice flavour. Staff was very nice and helpful and I might try their regular offerings, but I'm not inclined to try anymore of their hot chocolate flavours.

Google
The Migao hot chocolate festival drink was too sweet and too heavy. I’m not sure about this melted mozzarella with soft bread and crackers.

My boyfriend and I did the gelato making class together with Maestro Andres as the teacher. It was such a memorable and enjoyable experience/date. You learn a lot about the science of gelato making and get to try using the equipment. Plus you go home with a generous amount of gelato and sorbetto and get to try a whole bunch of their flavours. I would 100 percent recommend this laid back and unique experience to anyone!

Google
Ice cream here was quite delightful. I have been back a few times. The Lavazza Espresso was the bomb, but the salted Caramel was definitely a close second. Although free street parking was a little bit challenging, there were plenty of paid parking spots. Prices were quite reasonable for the quality. Lady there was very nice and asked us if we needed samples

Google
Delicious and crafty ice cream. Will come back and try other flavours for sure!

Google
Participated in one of the gelato courses run in the shop. It was the best experience and so delicious. They are so knowledgeable and skilled at producing some wonderfully treats. They really focus on simple pure ingredients to create their final products. Would recommend the experience to other gelato/sorbetto lovers, which is almost everybody!

Yelp
I recently visited Uno Gelato and had a delightful experience. I got the coconut sorbetto twice in the span of three days--it was that good! I also tried the pistachio and mango flavors, but they didn't stand out as much as the coconut. The service was friendly and efficient, making the visits pleasant. Ambiance was great! Uno offers a variety of flavors, and while some stood out more than others, the quality is consistently high. The coconut sorbetto is a must-try and keeps me coming back for more.

Yelp
Small gelato shop on Broadway, the space was packed on a Friday night. We later found out they were actually hosting an gelato making class with a group, all tables were reserved for the time we were there, and (!) it was hot chocolate fest, but that didn't stop us from getting our gelato / sorbet fix! The yuzu sorbet was a nice post dinner palette cleanser. It was citrusy, punched yuzu and all in all refreshing. It wasn't overly sweet at all, in fact I did find the flavours of the citrus rinds too prominent towards the end of my single scoop-er to the point a stronger bitterness lingered for a bit too long. A friend sampled a few other flavours and had great feedback.

Yelp
A cute little place with yummy gelato! We stopped by on a Monday afternoon and there was no one else in there - a very quick and easy transaction. We ordered the Roasted Hazelnut in the single flavor cup and it was the perfect serving size for one hungry person or two not-so-hungry people to share! The flavor itself was great and the texture was softer than other gelato places I've been to. I was caught off-guard by the actual hazelnut pieces in the gelato. Overall a great experience paired with close proximity to all the other shops on the street!

Yelp
We stopped by here late night last minute and it was such a nice treat! I love how they have the ice cream cart and so many different delectable flavours. They even have a class you can take and learn how to make gelato! Can't wait to come back and try other flavours!

Yelp
Had an absolutely great time at UNO gelato the hazelnut gelato was most delightful. They give taste test and enjoyed it on a Monday evening.

Yelp
Once you go here you will never go anywhere else! It wasn't until my fourth time that I realized it is VEGAN!! The Dark Chocolate - 10/10 never had a chocolate gelato much like this one.
google avatar

Armita P.

Yelp
Who else loves gelato? Specially late night gelato :) We tried Pumpkin Pecan Bread Gelato & Akbar Mashti Gelato. Both gelatos were packed with flavour and weren't too sweet. I liked both flavours but if I had to pick a favourite I would choose the Akbar Mashti. Their gelatos are handmade in micro-batches. They are also vegan and gluten friendly.

Yelp
They have Chai Latte flavor, enough said. It's perfect. Service is friendly and they are happy to let you try samples. And they stay open until 10PM, I'm so sold. Gelato flavors are varied with classics and unique specials. Texture is good - creamy stretchy, not grainy, not rock hard.

Yelp
Came here to try the hot chocolate created specially for Hot Chocolate Festival (plus it was a ridiculously long line over at Thomas Haas). It was only 2 people ahead of me, yet it was a long wait because it was only 1 staff on duty then and he disappeared for a while. In the meantime, a line started building up behind me. The wait meant I had plenty of time to study the menu and check out the walls which had online gelato making participation certificates for staff plus other write ups. 2 tables were available were dine in though most just have their order to go. Plexiglass was installed on the counter with only a small window to get your order. So only 1 customer party could be right by the counter. We decided on the Biscotti Neri which was served with a red fruit mini beignet. The hot chocolate was really good with quality chocolate giving a richness to the drink. The cookie crunch gave a bit of saltiness to cut through the sweet. The mini beignet was also nice. The gelato looked delicious too, with different flavors like chocolate grand marnier, chocolate coconut Malibu, caffe Strano and candy cane. I will want to come back to try the gelato in future.

Yelp
I've been here twice, most recently for the Hot Chocolate Festival in Vancouver, and I've been pleased both times by the kindness of staff and deliciousness of gelato! The hot chocolate feature was one of the best I've had with a dark chocolate (vegan) gelato that you mix in with some To Live For poppyseed loaf. SO GOOD! And in a great location.

Yelp
Best gelato I had! If you like the OG Bella Galleria, you must try this place. It is a hidden gem in kits and i consider this spot to be my new favorite for gelato.

Yelp
The shop was bright and clean when we walked in. There was only one staff in front and she was very busy. She did seem to be calm and not flustered. She remained very pleasant when we were in the shop. We bought one strawberry ice cream and one uzu sorbet . Both were delicious! My friend bought a pint of the strawberry it was so creamy and tasty. The texture of the sorbet was a bit off putting . It was a bit sticky, syrupy and sweeter than it needed to be. Im wondering what it's sweetened with.

Yelp
Been meaning to get back to try Uno Gelato since our first visit a few months ago. This is their location in Kitsilano which is a few doors down from Thomas Haas. There's two other locations (Stamps Landing and downtown). We dropped in on a Saturday afternoon (around 2:15pm). It's small inside with two tables but there's a small bench out front. Service wasn't the friendliest but at least we were able to sample half a dozen flavours. There's 12 flavours up on the board along with half a dozen featured ones. Prices are on the high end ($6.50 single scoop, $8.50 double scoop) but waffle cone is included. Four types to choose from; gluten free, charcoal, waffle and chocolate. - Double scoop ($8.50) - we went with the Buffalo milk lemon (water buffalo milk with Sicialian lemon oil) and mango tango (spring sorbetto with fresh mangoes). Buffalo milk was the winner; creamy and airy. The mango flavour was slightly subdued but if you like things not overly sweet, you'll enjoy this one. Decent gelato but high prices. Doesn't crack my top 3 ice cream spots in town. 3.5 stars.

Yelp
The gelato here is divine! If you want more upscale ice cream (without the frills and for the same price as Earnest or Rain or Shine), definitely give Uno a try! The staff here are super friendly and welcoming, and the store is simple yet elegant with ample seating both indoors and outdoors. After sampling a couple of flavours I could really taste the freshness and quality in each spoonful of gelato here. Compared to my other fave Vancouver gelato places, I would say Uno is a little less gooey than Bella but more flavourful and less sweet and creamy than D'Oro - and ranks first in quality and uniqueness of the ingredients. Ultimately I ended up getting the mint chocolate chip because it's the perfect combo of all the fun of your classic mint chocolate chip that you loved as a kid mixed in with luxury ingredients (ie. real mint and huuuuge pieces of dark chocolate chip flakes). Plus did I mention that the cones here are included in the price and there are 3 to choose from?! They have charcoal, chocolate, and original waffle. Even if you get a cup they'll give you a come on top too!

Yelp
Uno Gelato offers lots of gluten free and vegan gelato ice cream. I always get something chocolatey. I have been hearing about this place for years but I never got the opportunity to try it until now. I came to visit during my lunch break and wanted to try the New Fashioned Chocolate. I know it's typical and generic but I feel like I didn't have dessert if it doesn't have chocolate in it. It was definitely delicious! It was refreshing since it's been so sunny today. I'll come back again next time to try other flavours! Friendly staff. Take out only.

Yelp
THE BEST!!!! There is no better gelato anywhere. This place has a wonderful selection of creative gelato. The choices are just right. It's quality vs quantity. Best ever in Canada! I hope they move the business location to a busier area like West 4th for better foot traffic. Everyone needs to try it out because they're basically missing a life experience.

Yelp
While waiting for takeout from Green Leaf Sushi (yes, that's around 10 blocks away), I decided to come here to not get just one, but TWO gelatos. I like how this place has unique flavours and ingredients (e.g. buffalo milk and goat milk). I got a Fior De Latte (like Avalon milk) and a matcha gelato. They had a very creamy texture. The Fior De Latte didn't have a strong flavour and tasted like sweet cream. The matcha, well tasted like matcha, and had a strong matcha flavour. Both were delicious! Prices are fair (around $6 for a scoop and an extra $0.50/$0.75 for more premium flavours), but portion is quite generous. They offer original, chocolate, and charcoal waffle cones for free!

Yelp
What I really like about the Uno Gelato concept is that it's high quality gelato, but without the upscale environment found in shops that serve similar fare. I was kind of embarrassed about going for gelato by myself, but the cashier was super friendly, and after chatting with her any reluctance I felt was gone. The gelato was really good! I originally had planned on getting 1 scoop but after sampling the Yuzu, White Coffee, and Midnight Chocolate, I gave into the temptation and got 2 scoops so I could get both the White Coffee and Midnight Chocolate. Both were very interesting flavours with lots of depth - the Midnight Chocolate is apparently dairy-free but it's so thick and fudgy that you'd never guess. None of the flavours I tried were overly sweet. The waffle cone was pretty good also, not freshly made, but hit a good balance between soft and crispy. Only reason I took off a star is that it's so expensive - the grande cone went for over $7. Of course this is how it often is with gelato, but in my eyes, it's still too much. However the price of the cone is included, so there's no surprises there. I think that Uno Gelato offers a wonderful and unpretentious gelato experience, just one to be reserved for rare occasions.

Yelp
Half Parisian and half Vancouver resident, epicurean, I had lost until now the best Gelateria in the city. He is back! We were deprived for 3 years of the most famous Gelati and Sorbets in Vancouver, as good as I could compare them to those of the best glacier in Paris, BERTHILLON, on Île Saint LOUIS in Paris. I even wrote, wrongly, that the ice cream at his first Bella Gelateria house had become bad... and for good reason, his shop had been sold and James Coleridge no longer worked there...!!!! Today he opened his first store in Kits on Broadway before opening two more stores in Downtown this summer. He always serves Gelati and Sorbets to die for with milk by Avalon, dark chocolate ice cream is a delight but also Matcha, salted caramel are my favorites along with the lemon sorbet and dark chocolate sorbet... simply incredible!!!! A little more expensive than elsewhere, but its gelato that has nothing in common with the others that are almost industrial... these are perfectly balanced, not overly rich in sugars. What a joy to meet James at UNO Gelato

Yelp
One of my favourite ice cream/gelato shops in Vancouver. They have the best Salted Caramel Flavour Gelato ever, so rich like butter. They also love to support Charity Organizations in town. This was a collaboration between Uno and CAN (Canucks Autism Network).

Yelp
The gelato here is absolutely amazing. I used to think I didn't like gelato until I tried this place, and now I realize I just hadn't found one I liked. Some of my favourites include salted caramel, midnight chocolate and yuzu sorbetto.

Yelp
This is an amazing ice cream place If you only can visit one ice cream place in vancouver, I'd choose this one. I live in the kits neighbourhood... and this place never disappoints. There is one ice cream which is dairy free.... that i ordered a few times... and didn't realize it was dairy free. Wow.

Yelp
Came here with a group of friends and my bf on a Sunday afternoon. I tried the Chocolate Goat Milk, Milano White Coffee and Midnight Chocolate (V) but end up getting the Roasted Black Sesame. Chocolate Goat Milk - This was pretty good. It was chocolaty and sweet, and not too heavy. (4.5/5) Milano White Coffee - This was nice but not my favorite. It had a white creamy color and the coffee was prominent but too strong. Apparently, they seeped the coffee into the cream so that was why this one was very settle in coffee flavor. I would of preferred it to be more intense in coffee flavor because I love the taste of coffee. (3.5/5) Midnight Chocolate (V) - This was very good. It was rich and chocolaty, and very heavy on the cocoa. It reminded me of the Serious Chocolate at Earnest Ice Cream but with a slightly distinct taste because it was vegan. (4.5/5) Roasted Black Sesame - This was alright. The black sesame was there but I wished it was more stronger. I also didn't like the texture of this one because it was too soft for me. I keep forgetting to not order Black Sesame when it comes to gelato because it just doesn't taste the same as regular ice cream. (3/5) Overall, staff were super friendly and helpful. Also, their waffle cones are free! I didn't get one so I can't make a comment on them but there were 4 types that you could choose from which I thought was very cool. I wouldn't mind coming back here again occasionally because it is quite far from where I live.

Yelp
Of the god the sour cherry gelato was insane! My husband loved the strawberry gelato too. I also got a scoop of the cookies and cream which was also delicious. This was a lovely little find on the way to the museum.

Yelp
HE'S BACK AND HE'S GLORIOUS! James Coleridge is amazing entrepreneur who has overcome A LOT the last year and somehow turned this around in less than a year since the Bella Gelateria incident transpired. Plus, he makes damn good gelato and he's the winner/recipient 13 of International & National gelato awards...

J L.

Yelp
The service was pleasant, and my milkshake my good. My girlfriend enjoyed her gelato. It wasn't like mind blowing and a little pricey, but I'd try it again. I like that they have gluten free options and vegan options too. The cleaner they use is overpowering smelling. It's nice to know the place is clean, especially during a pandemic but I'm sure there are less smelly products out there.

Yelp
Opening day! Welcome back to the scene gelato maestro. I had their Midnight chocolate and I can tell you, vegan never tasted so good! We didn't have to wait in line today but I'm sure that won't last long. Glad to taste the same amazing quality! Looking forward to all your future seasonal flavours!

Yelp
Atmosphere: Small but manageable. Price: Average which is surprising given the area. Customer Service: Awesome and friendly. Food: This place is new to me and I saw this on someone's Instagram, therefore, I book marked it myself for future reference. I got two scoops and kept it simple as the person I was with doesn't like flavors beyond the basic (I know) so we had a scoop of chocolate and vanilla to share. We loved the gelato.

Yelp
Was super excited to try this place out and was not disappointed! We tried a lot of flavours before we decided to commit to the strawberry lime in a normal cone. They have a variety of flavours and also cones to choose from. Each flavour was absolutely delicious. I would definitely come back to try the other flavours and check out their decor as they're still setting it up. The price is average (surprisingly) and we received fantastic customer service

Yelp
I'm extremely happy with uno gelato I ordered the very cherry and passion fruit ice cream :))! The price is very good for what your getting. I will definitely come again in the future.

Yelp
Numero UNO! Wonderful service! And the gelato is creamy, rich and bursting with flavours. Slightly on the sweet side; but that could just be me as I tend not to like overly sweet anything ;) .

Yelp
Great gelato! They need to correct their hours tho. Hours posted says it closed at 9, so we rushed..only to find out it was actually 10pm instead.

M G.

Yelp
The midnight chocolate sorbet was amazing. 10/10. Best chocolate sorbet I've ever had. The salted caramel sucked. Literally the worst one I've ever tried. I enjoyed the chocolate cone. Each scoop is roughly $4 including the one.
google avatar

Yelp
Bella Gelataria's original owner isn't hiding his self-created recipes. He's got a variety of waffle cones exploring the hipster trend outside of World's Best Gelato, including the charcoal cone that is supposed to help clean your toxins (shrug). I chose that as a foundation for the vegan Midnight Chocolate, which I found scrumptious but my fiancé found too bitter. You can't even tell it's vegan. He had the White Coffee in a cup, which was just like a European coffee, except frozen. We smiled as we walked down Kitsilano, though it became bittersweet noticing all the other shops and restaurants we grew up with temporarily or permanently closed.

Yelp
Delicious! The server was very friendly and took her time to help pick out a great flavour. And the actual gelato was delicious. The price point is slightly higher than other gelato shops I've been too, but I would pay the extra amount for how unique and rich the flavours are.

Yelp
The best ice cream In town. We almost have taste all the flavours and they are all delicious. My son and me like the lemon flavour best. Really refreshing in a warm sunny day.

Yelp
We were actually really full after dinner but since we were out already decided to go look for some icecream. By sheer luck found this on yelp. When we read it's a James Coleridge shop, we beelined for it. So vvvvv happy we went. Cos it was bit later & only 2 customers we got to try all the flavours!!!! Unbelievably superb! The craftsmanship & care of this icecream cream is best among all the artisanal creams I've tried around Vancouver. I had the mint w choco flakes. It had besides mint a it bit of basil we think which totally brightened the taste. Honestly amazing & brilliant! The other flavours we had were their salt caramel vv creamy, & cherry cherry. Also good. Would absolutely drive across town for this icecream again!! Carry on James as u've done, never compromise on your quality & inventive flavours!!! Also special thx to your server yesterday evening. Charming & kind to us!!

Tess L.

Yelp
My new favourite gelato shop. The midnight chocolate is better than Bella Gelato's, as is the strawberry. The chocolate is non-dairy which is shocking as it is so rich. Worth sharing with a friend. Looking forward to trying all the other flavours. SO DELICIOUS!!! The shop is clean and the two servers were really helpful and friendly. Looking forward to my next visit.

H V.

Yelp
Try the vegan dark chocolate it is unbelievable. I am not even a vegan but I loved it. Great new place for a cheat snack!

C R.

Yelp
Delicious fresh gelato made with quality ingredients! Try the matcha or the 90% dark chocolate (I think that's what it's called?) gelato. Delicious chocolate or charcoal waffle cones too :)

Ruby A.

Yelp
Nothing special and still have more favourite places in the city. I had the Akbar Mashti and Midnight Chocolate. The Akbar Mashtis flavour profile was like nothing I've tasted and was delicious. My only complaint about it was the large chunks of frozen cream in it which turned me off. The Midnight Chocolate was a bit to cocoay for my liking. I will go back though to try other flavours.
