Great location: less than 5 minutes walk from the station and another 5 to the ferry. It is at the start of a restaurant district with some excellent choices - Uno Port Inn gives a list of its top 10 and will make bookings. The location is perfect for visiting the 3 art islands. I would argue better than staying on Naoshima which has limited transport and restaurants after a certain time and on certain days.||Greta check in -you can leave bags. All the staff speak good English. The owner spent 20 years in Manhattan so he has blended the best of both worlds. Downstairs there is a bar/cafe serving killer fresh bagels in the morning - the low and cream is beyond delicious. You can relax downstairs or take drinks up to the terrace on the floor above.|Ming looked after us most of the time. A fount of knowledge and useful tips and one of the best things about our stay.||The rooms are a decent size with good beds. Some are ensuite but most have a private bathroom in a row of bathrooms. Those are immaculate and well equipped. You are given a Yukata robe. This is the opposite of a dorm experience. Upstairs there is a dispensing machine, microwave, coffee and a small eating area as well as washing machines.||A great stay.

The place is lovely, wonderful views of the port. Everyone is super kind, interested and gives so much information and tips on where to go. Room is very nice, slept very well. The fact that they bathroom is separate was not an issue at all. Breakfasts is really good as well. Some great places for dinner and bars around as well. If there's a next time, will for sure revisit.

UNO port has a lot of odd versions of accommodation. I stayed at another Airbnb ryokan and it was 8 people to one bathroom! |But here, you have your own lockable bathroom which is part of a block of bathrooms. You get your own key so you can leave everything in there. |The coffee is really high standard and there’s a cool vibe here. Very chatty arty staff and I liked the way I had arrived early and they organised me to get on a ferry to one of the islands for lunch. I wish I had booked this place for the other days I had there. |Just remember Ryokans have thin walls, so you do need to be quiet in your bedroom! This also meant hearing trucks going to the ferries. All pretty quiet by 11pm.

All the staff team were friendly, eager to ensure we have good times not only in the accommodation but also ensuring we know how to enjoy the city and surrounding. The accommodation was very clean and well maintained with little touches such as providing us free Japanese little origami umbrellas as free takeaways. The location is perfect to visit the nearby islands of Naoshima and Teshima

Uno Port Inn is such a delight! Not only is it steps from the ferries to Naoshima and Teshima, but the rooms and perfectly cozy, the breakfast is tasty and made to order, the bathrooms are spotless (with INSANE water pressure!!) and the staff is absolutely a treat!! From the moment we stepped inside, they made such a kind and coordinated effort to make our time in Uno and the art islands the best it could be! They helped us plan our transportation and timing to and from the islands, and did it with huge smiles on their faces! And when it came time for us to leave, they made sure to provide us with pastries and juice the night before our check out, as we would be leaving before breakfast service started. This is certainly THE place to stay when visiting the art islands! Thank you Uno Port Inn <3

We really enjoyed our stay at UNO Port Inn. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful, providing us with plenty of useful tourist information. One of the highlights was being able to leave our luggage at the inn while we spent a full day exploring Naoshima — very convenient! The rooms were simple, clean, and surprisingly spacious. We also had breakfast there, which was good and a great way to start the day. Would definitely recommend if you’re visiting the area!

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at UNO Port Inn! The hospitality here is exceptional. Every staff member went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and comfortable. Our room, the “Miyazaki,” named after the legendary Japanese director, was cozy, charming, and full of personality. It’s clear a lot of love and thought have gone into this place. The food at UNO Port Inn was also very good. The bagels were delicious, and the breakfast overall was balanced and satisfying, adding greatly to our delightful experience. The staff were incredibly helpful, giving us detailed advice for our day trip to Teshima. Thanks to their thoughtful preparation, everything went perfectly smoothly. If you’re debating between UNO Port Inn and the nearby “Uno Hotel,” don’t hesitate. Choose UNO Port Inn. The other place is a soulless imitation that has stolen the original idea and is unfairly taking customers. UNO Port Inn offers a genuinely special experience at a reasonable price, with warmth and character you won’t find anywhere else. Highly recommend!

When I stayed here, they asked for my id. I explained that I don't have to give it to them because I live here, and showed them the law. They said they still need it and then took a picture of it without my permission. I had to call the owner and argue with him for a while before he said he'd have to "talk to the police" before deleting it. The staff apologized on behalf of the owner the next morning and said they deleted it because the police told them they didn't need it - the owner who had initially refused to do so never apologized. Ridiculously discriminatory behavior, I would not recommend staying here if you don't want to be treated in a racist fashion by the owner. The staff were apologetic and just trying to do their jobs, though. A note to the comment from the owner below, which seems to contain some inaccuracies - He said that the resolution took 15 minutes. That may be, but I was not contacted until the next morning despite asking for a call back as soon as the matter was resolved while waiting at the front desk. I was not satisfied with the resolution of the matter. The fact that the owner didn't apologize to me until now, in a Google review response, is telling. Japanese law does not require that you take id from "foreigners" if they live in Japan. It doesn't even require you to ask for it. Asking a person who doesn't look Japanese to give you their ID to prove that they live here legally is discriminatory and not required by law. You cannot claim that the law justifies this behavior. It's discriminatory.

Location, location, location. This modest inn has the best spot if you're coming from Okayama via the JR trains and you are heading to Naoshima and Teshima islands. It's a two minute walk to both the ferry and the train. The staff is super friendly and provides helpful recommendations on how to navigate the islands. You have your own private bathroom, but you have to walk through the main hallway to get to it and you have to use a key. You most likely will spend more time on the islands so it's fine. It's super clean, organized and professional.
