This was a great hostel with great shower facilities and great breakfast. The only issue was being able to hear everything movement of your neighbors because the wood is so hollow. Overall, this hostel is a great environment and very social. It has a good location and is close to two subway lines. I would definitely come back.

We'd never explored Kagurazaka before, and this visit impressed us greatly. The UNPLAN was short walk from two metro stations that we used a lot. We stayed in one of the private rooms on the top floor, and anyone considering a stay here should be prepared for how small the rooms there are. Storage is very limited; more hooks on the wall would help alleviate that. Other than that, we had no real complaints. Our room was well-designed and comfortable for our five-day stay. Also, the space would have felt bigger if we had been able to use the outdoor patio more. (We couldn't because it was either hot or raining.) The included breakfasts were good, and the lobby restaurant felt like a cozy, sociable place to hang out. We also appreciated the many restaurant recommendations (hanging on convenient cards there.)

Terrific hostel, one of the absolute nicest I’ve stayed at. Free breakfast every morning makes for a perfect start to the day. It’s a 2/3 minute walk to the metro, so great location. While it’s not a party hostel, it has a nice, relaxed vibe and quiet bedroom pods with privacy. Went on a walking tour with Julija, which was a great way to get to know the neighborhood of Kagurazaka as well. Highly recommend!!

Great hostel in a very nice neighborhood. Easy access to the subway. Free breakfast for guests (yogurt, bagel, basic drink). The toilets and shower rooms were not as clean as I am used to for hostels in Japan (but still clean enough). The situation with shoes off and no provided slippers is kind of annoying as well. The biggest negative is that there are no curtains to block the morning light in the dorm. The curtains around your bunk are not enough. So if you are sensitive to being woken by sunlight you'll wake up early.

In total this hostel is fine. Clean and the staff is really friendly. What I missed most about this hostel there was no social gathering area or something like it. I spend 3 nights in the „common room“ but nobody showed up. Usually after staying some weeks in Japan I want to talk to people and meet other travelers it was very hard to do there. Usually I would meet people in a smoking area or at a bar but both are non existent in this hostel. For smoking you have to walk back to the station because even outside around the hostel there is no place to have a cigarette. The hostel was clean, beds are comfy and staff is helpful. If you search for a quite place to be then it’s a good choice. If you want to meet people I recommend somewhere else.

Had a lovely 5 nights at this place. It was in an awesome location being close to a train station and the ‘French’ part of Tokyo. I loved the bikes you could borrow at no cost, and the free breakfast (bagel, yogurt, granola). The hostel runs events like movie nights, theatre tours and walking tours which is GREAT as a solo traveller. I went on a free walking tour led by Julija for 1.5 hours which was the best I’ve been on in Japan. It was really informative, fun and tasty!! (she shouted us a snack at a traditional confectionery store 🥹). She also pointed out for the group where we should have dinner that night. And there was a Studio Ghibli movie night which Julija also hosted ❤️ There is a kitchen/common room which was quite small and not ideal to hang out in, so these events were good to be able to meet people. Beds were really spacious, and the rooms and the bathrooms I found were clean enough. I would stay here again

I loved my stay at UNPLAN Kagurazaka! It’s a clean, safe, lovely hostel. The beds are very private, with wooden structures around each bunk and front and back curtains. There’s one outlet for each bed and a small box to lock valuables (only large enough for something like a computer - not for any bags). They ran a walking tour of Kagurazaka one night, which was really lovely! I had thought it would be free walking tour style, where you tipped at the end, but not only was it completely free, they actually bought us snacks at a local Japanese bakery! I went to the TUNE sauna that’s in the same building, and I would highly recommend - so relaxing, with a discount for hostel guests. The one thing that drove me nuts and would make me reconsider staying here again was that they keep the overhead lights in the dorms on all night and there’s no way to turn them off. Around 9pm, they dim them, but there’s always light creeping through the curtain. I stayed here at the beginning of my trip to Japan, and combined with my jetlag, the light made it impossible to sleep through the night, even with an eye mask. If you’re a heavy sleeper, don’t worry about it. I did ask staff about this, and they confirmed that this is their policy, not a mistake.

First off Don’t spay your GD cologne in the dorms. Decent spot with friendly staff. Unfortunately every small sound travels through the dorm but it is what it is with pods like this. Lots of inconsiderate people which. Obviously out of the business control.

Yelp
Absolutely beautiful café with incredible staff. Everyone here, both customers and staff, were very friendly and respectful. It seemed that everyone knew a good amount of English which made it easy for me to navigate through here. Lots of people here were co-working in the space. I even saw someone on a work call here, but the place was pretty quiet so it wasn't a probably for them to hop on the call there. I enjoyed the matcha latte here and was able to be productive during my time here as well.

Yelp
Great hostel! Very clean, bottom floor is check in and a cafe. Very good location, close to metro station. My bed had a little phone which we could take around and use for directions which was extremely helpful.

Yelp
This place was definitely one of the most stunning and interactive environments I've ever stayed at during my last week in Tokyo. The staff was nice and catered to all of the guest's needs and questions with tourist spots, local eats, attractions around the area. All of the staff are friendly and they speak English, so no need to fret if you don't speak Japanese. The hostel hosts weekly to monthly events as well, so if you're looking to make new friends/attractions through those events, I highly suggest checking them out. The rooms itself was spacious for the size and you have your own secret compartment to store stuff in as well. They are bunk beds, so it does feel like the typical first year college dorm experience but the guest are also extremely friendly as well. Never know who you're going to meet :). They also have their own rooftop for a scenic view if you ever want to get those cloudy/skyscraper type photos. They also provid a smartphone with data access called HANDY during your stay which helped a lot during my trip, especially saving usage from my pocket WiFi rental. Lastly, the venue is also a cafe/restaurant, the coffee they bring in is fresh and new each month with a different roast, so definitely give their coffee a try when you get a chance to stay. I really enjoyed my experience at this hostel as it was my first time staying at one on my solo Jason trip, I'd definitely stay here again
