They don’t speak English but don’t be scared they accommodated easily and it is one of the best izakayas we tried in Tokyo. The food was so good, we had the the rolls with uni, the clams, the tempura, crab croquettes, everything was delicious . And the sake too. The staff is very nice. Price range for food, 2 drinks each, we paid about a total of 60 euros . Incredible.

This is a special place. You must have a reservation. The food is top notch. I highly recommend the Nogizaka Special over the Sashimi plate.

This is the second time we visited. The service was bad. They started to ask us ordering 30 seconds after we sit down. They just keep coming back to push us order. When we actually was ready to order, the waiters aren't very patient. We were clear about our order, but got 5 unexpected items worth 5000yen plus out of the 6 dishes we ordered. It's a scam to us. We would never come back again!

One of the nicest Sashimi experiences while in Tokyo. The food was delight to the senses, visually as well and taste wise. Would definitely go again.

If you are staying in the area then this restaurant is worth a try, if not, I wouldn’t travel to it as it’s ‘okay’ at best. With the options you have in Tokyo, you can most definitely find a better izakaya. I wasn’t happy that they have a different menu for foreigners. I wanted to try everything and only by chance, a local helped me order some extra dishes. They do have some nice dishes and they certainly make a good effort in preparing and serving them. The tuna bowl with genko bean is good, as is the tuna pulled high with crab meet and uni. Does taste more frozen than fresh tbh. The deep fried blowfish was tasteless. They ran out of some of the dishes I actually wanted but that’s life…..at least the beer was cold. Good place but not amazing.

I think 🤔 I will rank this as one of my all time favorites. The staff was very friendly and forthcoming. The atmosphere is great too, love that you can see the kitchen and how they prepare everything right Infront of you. Everyone in the kitchen is calm and collected 👌 The food and dishes taste amazing and very authentic. The price is pretty fair for what you are getting here. I will definitely come back 👍

Our Japanese speaking guide made reservation for us for 7:30pm. We arrived on time and the staff asked if we made reservation, eventhough the restaurant was about 70-80% full, rudely shook his heads side to side and told us several times the reservation was for 6:30. You can easily tell if locals are rude in Japan by their tone of voice and body gestures on top of “no 7:30!”, tap his monitor several times and kept repeating “6:30! 6:30!” If our guide made the mistake on the time of reservation, the restaurant would have called by 7:00. Whether If our guide or the restaurant made an error on the time of reservation, either tell us no seatings are available for 7:30 or treat us like walk ins will be acceptable. Absolutely no need for his rude tone of speech of “6:30 6:30 6:30’” When we were about to walk out; than he suddenly told other staff to offer us seats. If my son wasn’t that hungry, we would have left already, plus I want to stick around and see how this place will turn out. The food was decent, some were good, some so so. Atmosphere was typical izakaya. Waitress tried her best. If anyone gets greeted by this staff (could be manager, not sure) with Unprofessional attitude and lack of patience, I would recommend either asking him to repeat his response until he treats customers with common mutual curtesy and apologize before deciding to stay or turn down the seats. Btw, forget their English menu, minimal choices compare to Japanese menu, just use the photos from google.

Yelp
Unassumimg yet highly rated izakaya spot in the Akasaka/Roppongi area. We arrived without a reservation but it was only somewhat busy on arrival and seated immediately. The menu and staff both use English which allows minimal Japanese speakers to easily ask questions and order a meal. We were given damp wash cloths at the beginning of our visit which we (wrongly) assumed were for a refreshing wipe but it turned out these were intended as our napkins. Different. While perusing the menu, we noticed a gentleman next to us was presented an oyster on the half shell that was at least 4-5 inches across! Absolutely huge. Did not partake in one of those. We both started our meal with the Creamy Crab Croquettes. These were thumb sized, fried nuggets of potato and crab meat. Cooked perfectly but really lacking in flavor. Dear wife chose the yakisoba which she pronounced as "good". The broth was very tasty. I ordered the specialty of the house-Nokkezushi. This was a sushi dish consisting of Cucumber Roll topped with Sea Urchin, Salmon Roe, chopped Tuna, and Crab. A very impressive dish when presented on the plate. And it was truly delicious. If you enjoy urchin and roe, definitely order this. Value for the price, in our opinion was good. A most enjoyable stop.

Yelp
I was obsessing on finding the perfect restaurants in Japan. I researched, bookmarked, plotted maps and........ was constantly disappointed. The places were either closed, not close to where we were when we got hungry or, most often, not accepting walk ins. In these cases, I just pick a place that looks good. Yelp clearly sucks in Japan and TripAdvisor is not much better. Sometimes, you gotta just trust your gut and take a chance. This place was pretty decent. The look of the place is awesome. The service is a bit slow and they great you at the door with a handheld sign stating they have a cover charge. I have no problem with a cover charge but why can't they credit it if you spend more than $50? Ok...whatever. The beer was good and the dishes were tasty as hell. Nothing gourmet or foodie but tasty oysters, gyoza, fried breaded scallop stick and clam steamers. Good stuff here but nothing scary or life alteringly good.

Yelp
We kept walking past this place and it was always super popular with locals. We decided to give it a shot, not knowing what we were in for. Lucky for us they had an English menu. Great specials, food and atmosphere. Minus one star because smoking is allowed, which I guess could be normal, but just didnt work for us.

Yelp
Thankful for friends who recently moved to Tokyo and brought us to a rare standalone izakaya/sushi restaurant in Tokyo Midtown, which we would've never discovered on our own from combing through the million restaurants that exist in Japan. All the structures inside were wooden, giving off this rustic, traditional vibe. Fish were put on display on beds of ice right outside the open kitchen that makes it feel like you are walking through a market. They had quite a few TV's on the walls, which were broadcasting Rugby games since Japan was hosting the Rugby World Cup during our visit. No one smoking indoors which was a relief. English menus were provided, which is a huge bonus. Everything we had was so exquisite and meticulously prepared. I don't normally eat seafood but I had every piece of sashimi that we ordered, and we ordered quite a lot. None of it had even a hint of that fishy odor I despise. Each bite was so delicately tender and burst with a freshness that was just a tad bit sweet like spring water. I have no words to describe the pleasure from the Otoro dissolving in my mouth. And I had already thought the Otoro from our first sushi meal at a conveyor belt restaurant was amazing, but it doesn't even come close. Worth. Every. Penny. Or Yen. #251

Yelp
Great izakaya with fresh seafood options and nomihoudai (all-you-can-drink). Came here for a company-expensed meal with a large group, and contrary from the pictures of the outside, the interior actually has quite a lot of seats. We all got an omakase course (for about 5000 yen per person), which had a couple variety of raw and cooked seafood. I really enjoyed the sashimi platter we got -- the fish was incredibly fresh and tasty. They also had a deep-fried scallop which was quite unique and memorable. All you can drink beer was definitely a plus.

Yelp
Our friends from Tokyo brought us to this Izakaya for a fantastic experience. The staff are quite lively and efficient. The food was fantastic. We ordered oysters, sashimi, a special roll, among a number of other things, including the fried fish. All of it was delectable and the experience of having local friends order and just trusting that whatever comes is going to be quality was fantastic. If you're a wine drinker, don't come here. But they do have other beverages that make up for the lack of wine selections.

Yelp
Massive freshness. Great service. So good! Blowfish, uni, salmon, Toro, cod roe, ebi, Hamachi, blue fin tuna, ikura, broiled mackerel, and grilled prawn. Everything so fresh it was sweet.

Yelp
Current holder of the title as my favorite restaurant in Tokyo. The grilled whole fish are I think the best I've had and I've had them all over the world. Service is hectic by Japanese standards but of course great by any other. The restaurant employees a rather fun group of south Asian men as servers who speak fluent English and Japanese. Specials menu is translated into English too which is nice. Prices very reasonable for what you get and if the weather is nice there is a special balcony.
