This is not about money it’s about attitude, bias, and terrible student handling. The university advertises itself as one of the best, but my experience during the September intake period proves otherwise.
I initially contacted them for consultation and was handled by Valerie Ooi, who did not respect my time, failed to follow up properly, and showed no consistency. Without proper explanation or accountability, she simply passed my case to another counsellor, making me feel like I was being pushed aside instead of properly guided.
After that, I was handled by Mohan, who took almost ONE WEEK to reply. During an intake period, this kind of delay is completely unacceptable. When I asked about financial assistance, his only response was “take a bank loan” no explanation, no breakdown, no alternatives, no effort. Just a lazy reply.
They clearly assumed I’m from the T20 group, as if I have RM100,000 sitting in my bank account. Completely out of touch with reality. Students from M40 backgrounds are clearly not taken seriously.
What made this experience even worse was what happened later. After all the poor communication and lack of guidance during the Septembe intake, Valerie suddenly messaged me casually with “hi hi” and said “today is enrolling day”like what she trying to say ?or she making fun of me that I only ask and didnt able to Join yes because its expensive tuition fees and not a single financial assistance .
At that point, it felt insensitive and disrespectful, as if there was zero awareness of how badly I had already been treated. It honestly came across like showing off the enrolment process rather than genuinely caring whether I was supported.
Overall, this counselling experience felt selective and biased, where only a certain target crowd is prioritised, while others are ignored once they don’t fit the profile. Don’t promote yourself as a top university if your counsellors can’t even provide basic professionalism during intake season.
I felt dismissed, undervalued, and poorly treated throughout this entire process. This is not student guidance it’s careless, biased, and unprofessional behaviour.
I’m honestly glad I walked away and found another university that actually treats students fairly, respectfully, and professionally. Future students deserve to know the truth before wasting their time.
