Jasmine our server was amazing!! I’ve never seen a more pleasant, assisting and genuine smiling person. She smiled at us and made our order was on point!! Kudos to the kitchen for a one woman show!! The food was delicious and portions are big, we ordered the sourdough French toast and the special pecan sourdough (locally made and phenomenal) and am still having the taste in my mouth!! They accommodated all our special requests!! Their local maple syrup from Bobs is the most tastier I’ve ever had (brought some home with me directly from the producer). Don’t miss out on the opportunity to have breakfast here!! It’s a cash only business so don’t forget to have with you.

Incredibly cozy and cute 2nd floor breakfast spot right on Manchester's main street. Funky places like this is what makes Vermont so great. Had the "Red Flannel", their corned beef brisket omelette - it was unique and remarkably good. Recommend.

Up For Breakfast is your quintessential breakfast establishment. With a menu that is centered around classic breakfast fare, Up For Breakfast is a perfect destination for kicking off a morning. I had the pleasure of eating at the the restaurant for a weekend brunch, and the restaurant did not disappoint. I ordered the hungry hiker meal which consisted of pancakes, eggs, bacon, potatoes, sausage and a cup of coffee. While everything was good, the buttermilk pancakes were the star of the show. One thing to keep in mind before going to Up For Breakfast, is that the restaurant is cash only so you will need to make sure you have enough cash on you because if not you'll have to go off premises to use an ATM.

Google
One of the best breakfast place I have ever been to. Food was varied and excellent. Waitresses were fantastic, service was great, portions good, food was inventive, well spiced and while not cheap reasonable for what it was. They do not take plastic but cash or check.

Mich Besse

Google
This place was awesome!! We went this morning as well as yesterday and they were able to cater to my allergy with gluten free options. Jasmine was also so friendly! They are cash or check only. Definitely try their lingonberry cream cheese- it’s so good!

Kate

Google
Good breakfast spot. Pancakes were so fluffy. Good coffee too. Place is small but the wait moved quick.

Google
The food was great! I had the pull apart bread French toast. No complaints. The seating is very tight so plan to get acquainted with the person next to you. My biggest disappointment was the hot cider they have on the menu. It was hot water with flavoring. If you're going to offer cider in Vermont in the fall, it's got to be the real thing!!

Yelp
The entire town of Manchester is a dream. Up For Breakfast needs to be everyone's number one stop when you visit. Some things to know: 1) very small which means seating is limited and they do not take reservations 2) it is located on the second floor and is not handicapped accessible 3) cash only - ATMs are located across the street. For the experience, we always have a great time here. The people are nice and the food is tasty. I usually get the Hungry Hiker (which you can't go wrong ordering here) but went with one of their specials this time. If you are lucky to see the Banana Bacon pancakes on the menu, go for it! The maple late is also a staple here. I get it iced and it's the right level of sweet. The inside is very cozy, not great for big parties (4+) or hyper children. The servers will definitely accommodate you and but the vibe is more for an intimate low-key breakfast.

Yelp
We were traveling through the area & found this amazing little breakfast place in beautiful Manchester, VT. As we looked at menu a local couple said, " Go in, they're great!" The server, Jasmine was super sweet & informative. Great coffee- what a treat as I am not a fan of Dunkin coffee. THE best corned beef hash I have had in over 20 years! I made sure to compliment the cook! I have 2 cousins who attended the CIA ( Culinary Institute) in NY. Both ran breakfast places & made great CB Hash, this place rivaled them! My husband's breakfast sandwich with Vermont cheddar tasted like it was made with Easter Ham- so fresh & tasty! The place filled up quick! We're so glad we got there early! Don't miss this little gem!

Yelp
We eat here EVERYTIME we are in Manchester. Staff is always very friendly! Food is consistently good. They can move a lot of people through quickly, without feeling rushed. Wish they had more choices for cookies/ brownies along with their muffins.

Jennie M.

Yelp
Super quant cute place. They were able to accommodate my gluten and dairy allergy!! I had the best omelet of my life-- a veggie egg white omelet with gluten free bread and fruit on the side. It came with orange juice as well. Great value!! The wait was almost an hour so definitely go early to put your name in. But it's worth it!

Yelp
When I asked my friend for restaurant recommendations near Manchester, Up for Breakfast was number one on the list. It was amazing! As a visitor, I had no idea the restaurant was really "Up" on the second floor. I actually missed it the first time I drove by. Luckily I saw the sign when I drove around again, and found street parking. I was not told that it was cash only, but the owner pointed me to the ATM across the street. Found out the owners were originally from NJ just like me. Very friendly people. Jesse was very nice in recommending me to the dish I ordered...Bistro Omelet. It was heavenly. The coffee was also excellent. As I was eating, the cook came out to use the restroom. She asked me if I like the omelet...I took her yes! She was very nice also. So, come here for breakfast! Bring cash! Come early! I was the only one there at 8am, but by the time I left, there were already many more people.

Yelp
One I thing I love about Yelp is it leads me places like this . Went for breakfast before skiing. Defining a true VT breakfast ! Amazing blueberry pancakes with crispy bacon . The waitress was super friendly start to finish! I asked if the maple syrup was fresh and she laughed "of course it is " . In the middle of eating she asked how everything is and I from was amazing ! She said "I know I just like to hear it ". Going forward I will not miss this spot when in town !

Michael O.

Yelp
Outstanding! Had the Irish scramble. It's was one of the daily specials. Everything was cooked perfectly, spiced perfectly and tasted amazing. Special shout out to the corn beef hash! So good! The grilled scone is at legendary status. We split an order of sour dough french toast. Absolutely worth it. There will be fresh jam on the table.

Walter L.

Yelp
It does not change. Still the finest breakfast fare extant, with servers of uniform good will and intelligence. Yes, it's worth the inevitable lines. Go!!!

Rich H.

Yelp
Have eaten here many times, its always very good. Small dining room, they only take cash. Service is very good, very pricey, but its Manchester.

Paul N.

Yelp
Great breakfast place. All the other 5-star reviews were spot-on. Server had a great upbeat personality and did not miss one detail. Okay, it's Cash Only but just be prepared. You'll be glad you stopped in. Be forewarned, it's a popular place in season!

Cory N.

Yelp
Up for Breakfast was sold back in August 2022 and is under new ownership. Very happy to say the ambiance, service, and food quality haven't changed. It's still a great place with a great menu. The owner seems to be very "hands on" in the kitchen, which is great. The one downside they didn't change? Cash only!!! I had a veggie scramble with sourdough toast and it was excellent. Everyone else in my group was also incredibly happy with their meals. Jesse was our server and was friendly, accurate, and checked on us regularly. Remember to tip well.

Melissa D.

Yelp
The food was fantastic, it's a small place and cash only, but the food is amazing, we are going back tomorrow. We had chicken maple sausage that was delicious along with homemade corn beef hash. The meatlover's scramble was awesome as was the hollandaise sauce on the eggs benedict. A great breakfast spot and we will be back!

Stuart B.

Yelp
Waitress was great, friendly and helpful.everything was prepared exactly as ordered and served properly and quickly. A warm friendly restaurant. Pancakes were tasty, fluffy and served with hot maple syrup.scones were great as well jam that was on table

Itzel S.

Yelp
We were in Manchester for the day and wanted to check this place out. When we arrived there was a line of people waiting so we knew it would take some time. Upon checking in with the host she let us know it would be 20-25 min wait. We ended up waiting over 45 minutes to be seated. Once in, it took them 20 minutes to come and check on us and take our order. Once our order was in we WAITED another 45-60 minutes for our food. The waitress checked on us 1x, they sat us next to a window and opened it all the way. We were freezing until my husband closed it. The food is good but NOT WORTH the overall waiting time. Not to mention they don't accept cards only cash. Would not recommend.

Whitney P.

Yelp
Great food! Cozy spot. We had a great breakfast here on our way out of town. Highly recommend the French toast and venison sausage. Friendly people too!

Jan E.

Yelp
I'm editing my review after eating here three days this week and we'll probably go back tomorrow. It's true what they say: absolutely delicious breakfast. HH had the blackberry walnut pancake special with bacon. I had the blueberry short stack with Moroccan Lamb Sausage. Indescribably good. On subsequent visits I've had the Greek yogurt with granola and fruit. Perfect coffee. So, so many things on the menu I wanted to try. Note: Cash Only. And the portions are huge. Don't be like the couple we sat next to who ordered eggs, sausage, pancakes, French toast, hot chocolate, and juice. I was staring because I care.

Julia N.

Yelp
Great food! Was a little bit of a wait, but the service was so kind and friendly it was completely worth it. Sourdough French toast was phenomenal, as was the corned beef hash! Cash only!

Catherine N.

Yelp
LOVE this place, I have been coming here for years ever since my childhood. The venison sausage is out of this world. The staff is awesome. Remember bring CASH no cards allowed. YUM x ten thousand.

Janet L.

Yelp
We love this place! Nearly everything they have is homemade. Service with a smile. The place is very small so there early or you have to wait in line. Hours are short 700a-1230n. I believe they are closed Tuesday and Wednesday. They used to be open 7 days a week but they told us do to staffing shortages they have to close two days a week.

Phyllis G.

Yelp
The food was AMAZING! Waitresses were so nice and helpful. Cash only but there is an ATM across the street.

Erin H.

Yelp
This is THE breakfast spot in Manchester. When we visit, it's the place we go to every morning for breakfast because it's just that good. Service is excellent, no matter how busy they are and the food is absolutely delicious. My husbands favorite is the red flannel omelet with homemade corned beef hash and Vermont cheddar. My fave are the morning glory pancakes, some of the best pancakes I've ever had. The waffles are amazing as well, fluffy and extra vanilla - yum! Of all the times we've visited I've never had anything that wasn't delicious. It does get very busy so go early (before 9:00am) or be prepared to wait a bit. Cash only.

Roger G.

Yelp
Believe the hype! A local institution for a reason. Our server Jessie was a ray of sunshine bringing us a delicious mix of sweets and savories. The French Toast was maybe the group favorite but we loved everything we had. Great variety of coffee drinks and hot chocolates too!

Steve M.

Yelp
We were staying nearby for the night and looking for a place to get coffee and breakfast the following morning. After reading reviews of all the places around, this seemed to be the best option. There was a small wait and the place was busy. We were glad that we chose this place. Food was good and so was the service. Small, quaint with a personal feel. Would recommend this to anyone coming to the area. Thanks for a great breakfast while out of town.

Jeff T.

Yelp
The name of this place seemed to me to feature an invitation for our first meal of the day. We were both UP and hungry too! Tight quarters made it easy for us to engage the newlyweds sitting about eight inches away from us. They were served ahead of us - we looked longingly at their plates. I placed my order for the Raspberry Crepes as she had. The Raspberry Crepes not only just looked good, they were off the chart beyond delicious. The plate was equipped with four sausage links. My wife shared her scrumptious Western Omelette, nicely browned Raisin Toast and well done Home Fries. Hot Tea & Coffee It wasn't until I descended that I figured out the double entendre: UP FOR BREAKFAST Jessie was polite, fast, attentive and engaging - she is tops! - As a waitress and as a person.

Matt W.

Yelp
While staying at a friend's rental during August I visit Up for breakfast. It's on the 2nd floor of a retail building, not sure if they have handicap access. They only accept cash or check for payment. It's a cozy dinning area so I can see this place getting packed. We arrived before the "brunch" crowd and were seated immediately but there were a few parties waiting by the time we finished our meal. The kitchen staff seems with work fairly quickly and the servers are pretty efficient and attentive. I can't remember the woman's name who served our table but she had a great personality. I ordered the Red Flannel (homemade corned beef x Vermont cheddar) omelet with a side of venison sausage and my partner ordered the Omelet with Brie and Apples. These were two of the best omelets I've eaten at a restaurant in a long time! They were cooked perfectly and the ratio of filling to egg was on point. I'm always hesitant to order omelets because they tend to be over cooked but I would 100% recommend trying these dishes. The venison sausage was lean and cooked throughout which is to be expected with game meat. It had a great flavor to it. I'd definitely eat here again.

Emilio D.

Yelp
We really enjoyed the food selection. The sourdough pancakes were the real deal. If you don't make it in early enough, plan ahead for the wait. The place is popular and occupancy is not particularly large. But the food was worth the wait. Also, remember to bring cash; CCs are not accepted. One can easily miss the little sign on the door about "cash or checks only".

Angela T.

Yelp
Delicious food in cosy warm space. Service was helpful and cheery. We were a big party so they were able to split us into two tables. Loved the blueberry pancakes and eggs Benedict Enjoyed maple latte, cowboy hash, bacon and scone. Would definitely return !

Melissa B.

Yelp
Food fresh and unique, service w/ a smile and attentive.. classic breakfast twisted Vermont style, just what the doctor ordered.. great work, will return..

Barbara R.

Yelp
I would give this place 20 stars. Everything about it but the food is absolutely outstanding. Service is friendly and caring and even when busy make sure you are taken care of. The huevos rancheros is beyond anything we've ever eaten. The omelette with apples Brie cheese and bacon was heavenly. Buckwheat pancakes were perfect. 3 days eating here. We will eat here 3 more until we leave this charming city! Love love love this place. Warning it is tiny so the weekend wait can be long. Worth it!

Abby L.

Yelp
Absoultely amazing service, atmosphere and food. Food was seasoned to perfection, great portions, came out fast and was well priced. Our server Jess was a delight !! Such a cute place with all the beautiful stained glass lamps and homey feel. 10/10 recommend for any traveler, local or person!

Clint S.

Yelp
Friendly service, delicious food, completely worth the price paid. I got the Hikers Breakfast, it was awesome. I liked that they had lots of adventurous choices for my wife to get excited about but also multiple,"boring water husbands," choices for me. Definitely worth a stop.

James M.

Yelp
The best breakfast place I know anywhere. Very Vermont feel. They bake their own fabulous scones to have with homemade raspberry jam. They also make their own superb hollandaise sauce instead of prepackaged sauce as other places. Unlimited warm VT maple syrup. In house made bread for the unbeatable French toast. Best corned beef hash.

Patrice Z.

Yelp
This review is from the point of view from an AT Thru-hiker. This cash only location is only accessible fe a flight of stairs up. They had seriously good unique breakfast options that were more upscale and unique than the typical omelets and pancakes. I had a salmon dish with hollandaise sauce and I could not get enough. For coffee you can have regular coffee or with hazelnut. Meals are huge so you feel well fed after eating. Since meals are "fancier" than your typical diner do know that the prices match (it is more expensive) but some meals come with coffee. Real maple syrup is an extra charge. There is a men's and women's bathroom near the entrance. Tables with chairs are available or a small bar/stool area.

Kurt S.

Yelp
As always the food is great, but I will say the service was super friendly today. Jesse took great care of us and another young woman was on top of our waters and coffee.

Heather A.

Yelp
Live on the wild side and get the turkey hash. It activated taste buds I didn't know I had. Worth the inevitable weekend wait and great people watching while you wait. Delicious, plentiful, awesome service.

M.J. J.

Yelp
Grateful for the last reviews of this place that more than lived up to the acclaim. Incredible menu of made-from-scratch breakfasts with staff who remind you of an aunt or cousin you haven't seen in a while. They only accept cash or check though and prices are not unreasonable on the higher end for breakfast so just bring more cash with you than normal. Fresh tangerine juice, home fries and eggs were outstanding. Bacon wasn't my favorite but had some of my daughter's sausage which was absolutely incredible. A must visit if you're in Manchester.

Marsha M.

Yelp
Awful service...rude and way to pricey. I would say this in the first...but it wasn't our first time there. Won't be back!

Danielle V.

Yelp
This is the best breakfast I've had in a LONG time! It's such a cute, cozy, laid back breakfast spot with super friendly staff and amazing food. The blueberry venison sausage was incredible and definitely stood out. The breakfast potatoes were also awesome and different than what you find at most places. The maple latte is something I wish I could have at home every day. If you're in the area or live around here, please check this place out!! You won't regret it and you'll want to go back every weekend.

Roman K.

Yelp
All I remember is that we had to wait on the staircase for a while, it was worth the wait. We were there about two or three times. Don't hesitate to go, you won't be disappointed.

Stacy S.

Yelp
Luckily, I was able to get a table right away and was served in a timely fashion... given the reviews I saw on line, I wasn't sure how long of a wait I might have. My waitress was quick to make recommendations - something I appreciate. I had the Eggs Scadanavian which is a spin on Eggs Benedict. The waitress said their hollandaise was good - she was right. The breakfast came with potatoes, which were nicely seasoned. I'd eat here again! The noise level was a bit high - it is a small place with full tables, so it's to be expected. **THEY ONLY TAKE CASH** This was not something I knew ahead of time and I could tell it caught some guests off guard. If there isn't a "Cash Only" sign on the door or the menu, there should be.

B B.

Yelp
It has been almost ten years since I have been to this amazing place. I was elated to bring my husband here for his first experience. We had a stroke of luck, there was no wait when we arrived! We we're seated in the exact spot of my last visit, at the bar with a view of the kitchen. I love open kitchens because I was a line cook in another life. I have never forgotten the blueberry venison sausage that I had last time. To my delight, it was still on the menu AND they had a cranberry boar option as well! I got both, and they were delicious! I also got the Eggs Scandinavian Benny with stone ground mustard hollandaise on sourdough which was also to die for. My husband got a kielbasa & hash omelet which he absolutely loved. Waitstaff was friendly and personable. We both left on cloud nine. Love this place. Highly recommend.

Bailey S.

Yelp
Amazing food. Cute setting, makes you feel like you are in your grandmas kitchen. There is most likely always a wait so make sure you prepare to chill. CASH ONLY. No reservations.

Jon S.

Yelp
This is a wonderful breakfast spot. In the heart of Manchester and up a flight of stairs is this gem. Yes it's small, I would call it cozy. It's all about the food. The service is friendly and quick. I had the veggie scramble and added elk sausage, locally made. Fantastic. It's cash only worth a trip to the ATM! Go!

Sarah H.

Yelp
How can one describe heaven? How can you put a value on perfection? Judgement should only be left to the Lord almighty, unless it comes to dope a$$ breakfast spots, in which case I'll give it my best shot. This place is AMAZING. It is a completely unpretentious "diner"-esque breakfast spot amidst a slightly pretentious town. Yet the food is so good that you'd think it WAS a pretentious establishment. They have a rotation of breakfast sausages featuring wild game- NO JOKE! Wild turkey, duck, buffalo, venison, etc. These are not to be missed. Everything is homemade and everything is good. I have been here twice now with ZERO disappointment and ALL the stuffed bellies. Go here twice because you must try both the sweet and the savory plates (or just go with a friend and split a few things, or go by yourself and be a gosh darn QUEEN). Rock on UFB, rock on

Dana N.

Yelp
This has been a family favorite since it opened. On weekends there is always a wait, which is definitely worth it but during the week it is a lot less crowded. The best breakfast around for sure. Huge omelets and pancakes with every side, sauce etc.. you could want cooked so fresh. Not to be missed !

Jody W.

Yelp
Tiny little breakfast place with a great menu and excellent food. We did have to wait for a table, and it turns out that instead of a table, they were able to accommodate the 3 of us at the counter. Huge portions of food served super hot...everything is made fresh to order. The only thing that kept this from being an awesome experience was an odd vibe from the staff. They were very friendly....kinda. Nice on the surface...but then they would talk to each other about some of the patrons/guests that they found to be annoying....but it's a REALLY small place. We can hear you. Other than that, I'd go back for the food. FYI - it's upstairs and I didn't spy any kind of elevator anywhere. So if you're wheelchair bound or unable to climb a flight of stairs...pretty sure you won't be able to go here. One last FYI - cash only.

Babetta F.

Yelp
Delicious breakfast with lots of tempting options. The staff is efficient, patient & pleasant. We enjoyed our visit!

Charlotte T.

Yelp
This was fantastic. Highlights recommend. The sausage was delish as was the hash. Omg love

Lara G.

Yelp
Great breakfast spot. I enjoyed the smoked salmon omelette. My friends had the eggs with hollandaise and didn't love them but I though overall this was a good spot. Very busy and the service/staffing is lacking.
