UP on the Roof

Up on the Roof is easily one of my favorite spots in Charlottesville! The views are gorgeous, especially at sunset, and the atmosphere is always so welcoming. The staff are friendly and attentive without being overbearing, and the drinks are consistently creative and well made. The food menu has something for everyone — I especially love how fresh and flavorful everything tastes. Whether you’re meeting friends, going on a date, or just want to unwind after a long day, this place never disappoints. Highly recommend!

The food was great the only down side was the service. My friend and I sat at the bar and the bartender we had was not very attentive. He left at one point, came back and never asked if we wanted another drink. The other bartenders were attentive but he wasn’t. The food was amazing but overall it wasn’t that busy. We felt like we were a burden because never did he ask how everything tasted, nothing. He just kept refilling our water glasses. I think if you sit at the bar you are better off sitting at a table.

The food was great. We got the deviled eggs for an appetizer and then the BLT and Cobb salad for our meals - perfection. Great vibe as well.

We took our club for a little get-together party on the roof and had a wonderful time. The view and the setting were fantastic, and they had a live band that was performing really nice music. It was a great time and a great event space.

A Must-Visit Dining Spot My wife and I had dinner here one night while we were in town. It was fantastic. It's got this amazing spot on top of a charming building with killer views of the mountains. The backdrop was perfect for our night out. The vibe is super chill yet sophisticated, with cozy seating and twinkling lights. I loved the cobb salad. And my wife loved the mushroom pizza. Oh and the brussels sprouts were some of the best we've ever had! The service was top-notch—super attentive and knowledgeable. The staff really went out of their way to make sure we had a great time. Plus, their cocktail menu is inventive, and the wine selection is solid. Highly recommend if you're in the area or staying at the Doyle!

1) The server was great 2) I know this is a place where the atmosphere is the highlight of the experience. But a 2oz pour of Maker’s Mark costing more than a signature cocktail is wild (~$17). Additionally, an up charge for ordering the drink neat.

Surprised to find that their menu has gluten-free labeled options. Not many, but a couple. Their pizzas have a gluten-free crust option which is made outside of the restaurant, sealed and brought in. It’s prepared separately and baked in a separate tray. It was much better than many gluten-free restaurant pizza options, and the waiter took my cross-contact concerns seriously, but I also came at a time when the kitchen was not busy at all.

The food is fine but the atmosphere is wonderful in the summer and fall… we always had a great time with friends and family.
