Upper House Chengdu

I recently spent two nights at Upper House Chengdu for a business trip and was thoroughly impressed. The service was exceptional—every staff member I encountered was attentive and professional. Although I usually only choose hotels less than five years old, Upper House Chengdu is immaculately maintained. My room was spacious, spotless, and very modern, with nice, clean, thick beddings. Taikoo Li is fantastic for shopping and dining. The area beautifully blends original temple architecture with modern design, creating a unique and vibrant atmosphere. The Loewe shop is a must-visit—stunningly designed and well worth your time! The Michelin Star Tea House at the hotel was truly amazing—a must-try. Breakfast at the hotel was excellent, and the coffee was good. The highlight of my stay was the bamboo massage at Mi Xun Spa. Gentle yet effective, it truly helped soothe my sciatica pain from the flight. Must Try! It’s a luxurious, relaxing experience right in the heart of the city. Highly recommend!

I had an amazing experience with Chengdu Upper House. The staff were very professional and friendly. The location is near the shopping and in a great location of Chengdu. The room was very clean and comfortable, with views of Tai Koo Li. It was also great that the room had a balcony. The all you can eat breakfast was decent. We’ll be staying here next time we visit Chengdu and I definitely recommend this hotel.

A crown jewel in the Chengdu Tai Koo Li development at the heart of the Chengdu city, the Upper House Chengdu is an architectural marvel blending old and new. Rooms were spacious and well designed. We were there for a few days to celebrate New Year’s Eve as well as to try out the various restaurants, and the food offerings were truly amazing. We tried the Temple cafe where the breakfasts were delightful, Mi Xun which is a tea house serving exquisite vegetarian delicacies using natural ingredients, and Tivano which was where we had our New Year’s Eve dinner. It was also a great place to celebrate birthdays too. We look forward to coming back again.

We had a fantastic stay at The Upper House, Chengdu in early December, 2025. We arrived from Hong Kong, where many in our group had had an equally excellent stay at The Upper House. Troy Zhang, the Guest Experience Manager, and Kylie Lam, the Hotel Manager, were incredibly attentive and helpful. We were a group of several couples many visiting Chengdu for the first time. Troy arranged an excellent English speaking tour guide ("Handsome Cody") and they put together a full itinerary including the Wide and Narrow Alleys, the Panda Base and Research Center, Dufu Cottage and Park, Sanxingdui Museum, Bian Lian face changing show with VIP seating, hot pot dinner, and made all the other restaurant bookings. Troy also arranged transportation around Chengdu and Dujiangyan Irrigation System and Qingchengshan, and also to Leshan Buddha. He purchased high speed train tickets for the group. He also expedited our check in and check out, and arranged a special late lunch for us on arrival at the hotel in order to save time for us to make the most of our first day. The hotel rooms were large and comfortable, and the restaurants, pool, gym and spa were superb. The staff were friendly and attentive. The Upper House has the feel of a warm, very personalized private hotel, rather than a chain. This must be one of the finest luxury hotels in China, and we found it very good value. We look forward to more stays at The Upper House. Chengdu is a wonderful city full of historical, culinary, teahouse and walking delights, and the hotel's location in Taikoo Li is excellent.

I had an amazing 3-night stay at Upper House Chengdu. Everything felt thoughtful and polished from arrival to departure, and the team made the experience effortless. Breakfast was superb with great quality and variety. The highlight was definitely the New Year’s Eve buffet and party, such a fun atmosphere and brilliantly hosted by Alex. I’ll absolutely return and highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Chengdu.

The breakfast experience was a real highlight, great variety, high quality, and a very relaxed atmosphere to start the day.|The hotel restaurants were consistently excellent as well, each with its own style, and every meal felt well looked-after by the team.|A special thanks to Alex, who went above and beyond. He arranged an amazing Sichuan opera visit for us, and also took his time to go out with us to discover some truly great local bars. That personal touch made the whole trip feel unique.

Staying at this hotel reminds me that someplaces away from home can become home. The attention and hospitality of Upper House is the kindest and warmest that I have experienced. The staff is always warm and friendly, you have your own concierge to help you with small errands or unique asks, it makes the experience feel truly crafted! Cassidy " sleepy potato" an intern for this gem of a hotel absolutely deserves a position and a promotion for her knowledge and warmth. Her joy and kindness alone makes we want to return soon, just to feel that Upper House warmth once more. From a hot bath to a cool shower I was adorned in the indulgence of relaxation and pure tranquility earned after long walks and sore feet. The blend of Traditional Chinese history and Mondern architecture, is a feast for the eyes as a former designer!

Danny, who I believe is in charge of guest experience, made this into a wonderful trip. My last visit to this hotel was in 2019. Used to be called the Temple House. The hotel is still kept up well. Every single person at the resort is professional. The rooms are well maintained. One of my friends got sick and everyone from the breakfast area to the spa asked how they could offer her comfort food and medical support. This hotel is perfectly situated in 太古里, which in my view, is THE MOST interesting shopping area. I live in Los Angeles and shop everywhere I visit with my wife. Taiguli is a perfect blend of Asian architecture with all the top brands. Hint: their Hermes store has the mother load of limited edition purses if you’re ready to spend.
