a decent place to understand the art from Northern Europe artists. free to charge for the first three floors. some artworks takes time to digest and understand the message. got quite a bit stairs.

The Uppsala Art Museum is a nice place to visit if you’re interested in contemporary and modern art. It’s not very big, but the exhibitions are well-curated and offer a good mix of local and international artists. The museum is located inside Uppsala Castle, so you also get to explore a bit of history while visiting. The staff is friendly, and the entry is free, which makes it a great stop if you’re in the area. While the collection is not the most extensive, it’s worth checking out if you enjoy art.

Another excellent museum is the contemporary art museum at the castle, Uppsala konstmuseum. They have an excellent collection together with a temporary exhibitions and it is free. They share a coffee shop with the castle with a good selection of food and drinks. Take the elevator to the fourth floor and walk down for the best experience.

What sets Uppsala Art Museum apart is its location in a former 17th-century palace, known as Uppsala Castle. The museum is housed in the northern wing of the castle, which adds a touch of grandeur and historical charm to the entire experience. The museum's collection is focused on modern and contemporary art, with a wide range of works that encompass various mediums, including paintings, sculptures, photography, and installations. Would not say this place is for everyone's taste but the entry was free. Would have enjoyed more classical art and paintings! Also the cafeteria downstairs is very nice for "fika"!

They have a good but not much art collection. I made it five stars because of the cozy cafe downstairs that had this delicious cheesecake and good coffee (with refills!)

I went there to see the castle. I was not attentive to the exhibition but enjoyed a fairly priced coffee with a carrot cake, the exhibition had an free entrance. What I did not like was these protruding lamps in face height. If you faceplant in one of those , I imagine you could very easily get hurt in your eye. To me it seemed like glass that could get shattered and wound the eyeball. I might be wrong though.

Such a wonderful art museum with a great mixture between traditional and contemporary art pieces. Really accessible for wheelchair users. I enjoyed seeing the paintings by Swedish artists.
