A 10 Day Itinerary Down Sweden's Coast

"Overlooking the city, Uppsala Castle felt like a powerful Renaissance-era site where I could learn about royal history and political intrigue; it now houses museums and exhibitions that display remains of the original castle and historic art." - Matthew Kepnes

An interesting building with 3 different museums while two of them are free. There are parking lots outside and very convenient. The building is on a hill and there are old canons outside. A coffee shop is inside the art museum. In overall it is a great view and nice to get some bits of informations through the museums.

Uppsala Castle (Swedish: Uppsala slott) is a 16th-century royal castle in the city of Uppsala, Sweden. Throughout much of its early existence, the castle played a major role in the history of Sweden. Originally constructed in 1549, the castle has been heavily remodeled, expanded, and otherwise modified. Today the structure houses the official residence of the governor of Uppsala County, various businesses, and two museums.

Striking castle with a multitude of museums and historical features. Enjoyed roaming the courtyard and visiting the castle ruins museum.

One of the best views in Uppsala since it‘s also on of the highest points of the city. Highly recommend this spot during sunsets. 🌅

Uppsala Castle (Uppsala Slott) is a striking Renaissance-era fortress perched on a hill overlooking the city. Built in the 16th century, it played a key role in Swedish history, including dramatic events like the Sture Murders. Today, the castle houses art exhibitions, museums, and the office of the County Governor. The panoramic view from the castle grounds is spectacular, offering a clear vista of Uppsala Cathedral and the surrounding city. Its pink façade and historic halls create a unique blend of power and elegance. Uppsala Slott is a captivating destination for history lovers and a cultural gem worth exploring.

Uppsala Castle is an imposing landmark with a rich history, offering great views over the city. While the exterior is impressive, the inside is not as grand as one might expect from a castle of this scale. There are some exhibitions inside, but the real highlight is walking around the grounds and enjoying the panoramic scenery. It’s definitely worth a visit if you’re in Uppsala, especially for history enthusiasts. If you’re interested in Swedish history, the museum inside might be worth checking out, but the castle itself is more about its historical significance than lavish interiors.

it is literally OK kind of place. nothing great. like city is very cool and calm. nice people but literally very dead kind of place. nothing special kind of castle. we walked down from railway station. and surprisingly we like walking to the street of city was more fun then visiting inside of castle. there was a cafeteria and having nice coffee, cakes and noodles options. other than we didn't enjoy much. but yes it was a good and pleasant experience travelling from stockholm to uppsala by train. in fact, there are nice church and other place where my kids enjoyed.

The castle it self is nothing special from the outside. On the other hand there's a terrific panorama view.
