Uppsala Castle

Old castle with a glorious past. It’s a little uphill, makes it a perfect walk for any morning or afternoon.

Striking castle with a multitude of museums and historical features. Enjoyed roaming the courtyard and visiting the castle ruins museum.

it is literally OK kind of place. nothing great. like city is very cool and calm. nice people but literally very dead kind of place. nothing special kind of castle. we walked down from railway station. and surprisingly we like walking to the street of city was more fun then visiting inside of castle. there was a cafeteria and having nice coffee, cakes and noodles options. other than we didn't enjoy much. but yes it was a good and pleasant experience travelling from stockholm to uppsala by train. in fact, there are nice church and other place where my kids enjoyed.

If you’re interested in Swedish history, the museum inside might be worth checking out, but the castle itself is more about its historical significance than lavish interiors.

One of the best views in Uppsala since it‘s also on of the highest points of the city. Highly recommend this spot during sunsets. 🌅

Lovely building and location!! However the art exhibitions are very repetitive and there's not really any variety in the displays, I'd love to see more diversity in the art

Uppsala Slott/Uppsala Castle is a 16th century royal castle in Uppsala. We visited last week when we were in Uppsala for the day. The castle is home to a couple of museums - the Uppsala Art Museum and the Vasaborgen ("Vasa Fortress"), a museum in the ruins of the original foundation of the 1549 royal apartments. We didn't visit the museums, but we did climb up the hill to the castle and walked around its perimeter. I took a lot of photos of the castle and of the views from the castle. It's a great viewpoint of the whole city, so even if you don't have time to or interest in visiting the museums in the castle, it's worth a visit!
