Yelp
Freshly made food from a gas station? Are you kiddin' me???
No ways man..........I ain't gonna lie to you folks!
Believe it or not........this Texaco gas station (formerly a Chevron gas station) in the old Wailuku town serves up some pretty ono plate lunch grindages!!!
I wouldn't have known about this place if it weren't from my reliable Yelp buddies - Vince N., & Maria P., (you folks really know where to get da good grindages yo!)
Once I saw da pics that Vince N., & Maria P. had posted...........then I heard Vince mentioned something about "Shoyu Chicken", Aiyah.........next thing ya know, Bruddah Fran has to check this place out!!!!
Upon turning on my trusty GPS on my phone, I head toward old Wailuku town, and as I drive up Main Street.........you will see a pretty large Texaco gas station. There is plenty parking in the private parking lot, as they had parking in front of the gas station, as well as behind the gas station. If for some reason the parking lot is full, there is ample free street parking too.
As I got to the Texaco gas station, I parked my rental car on one of the free street parking stalls just adjacent to the gas station.
Upon walking into the Texaco convenience store, I headed straight to the back of the store where you will see a little booth marked "ONOLICIOUS", and believe me folks..........this is where all of the magic is made on a plate!!!!
How it works -
1. You check out the wall menu posted by the Onolicious booth, then place your food order at the booth.
2. From there, you go back to the front of the Texaco convenience store & pay for your food (that you had ordered from the Onolicious booth).
Upon paying for your food, the cashier will give you a receipt where you take the receipt back to the Onolicious booth.
3. When you food is ready, the lady will call your name. You give her your reciept (showing you paid for your food), and she in turn will give you your onolicious plate lunch!
4. Unfortunately this place does not have any seating area, so it's basically a grab & go kinda place.......... (I ate my food in my rental car).
There were 3 wall menus posted by the Onolicious booth -
1. One menu appears to be the standard menu (items that they serve everyday).
2. Then there was a breakfast menu - (breakfast is served from 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM).
3. And the last menu was stuff posted for their "daily specials" for the day.
Upon looking over the menu, I decided to get the regular size - Yakitori Chicken plate with Brown Rice, & Toss Salad from their daily specials menu.
I noticed most of the regular plates from the daily specials menu run just under $10 bucks, @ $9.95 per plate.
Please note;............if you choose to get your plate lunch with brown rice, there is a extra ($1.00 surcharge), as their standard plate lunch normally comes with white rice.
What can I say about the grindages??
Brah, when I picked up my plate I almost dropped it, as it was so HEAVY!!!
You know what it means when you get one heavy plate????
Yes gangies.........that means they wen' give you plenty grindages yo!!!! SCORE!!!
The Yakitori Chicken was made perfectly........slowly grilled & marinaded to perfection...........just right, nothing was burnt from the cooking process.
I give BIG Props to da chef.........UDAMAN!!!!
The mixed green salad was fresh, and it was accompanied with some sliced tomato, & cucumber. They provided a dressing on the side, and I got the ranch dressing that was very thick & flavorful.
I can't believe this gas station cranks out some pretty good plate lunches! Big props to my Yelp buddies - Vince & Maria.........if it weren't for you folks, I would have never known about this place!
