We had an extremely disappointing experience at the Uptown Theater on November 21, 2024, and even worse follow-up customer service afterward.
My husband and I purchased balcony tickets with assigned seating for the Yelawolf / J. Michael Phillips show specifically to avoid long general-admission lines. We had previously attended a show at this venue in October and had a great experience, which is why we felt confident purchasing tickets again.
Unfortunately, entry to the venue that night was completely disorganized. Doors opened late, scanners were malfunctioning, and security procedures caused massive delays. By the time the main act began, the line was still wrapped around the building, and many ticket holders—including us—were still outside in cold weather.
We waited for nearly two hours, monitoring the line and speaking with security, and ultimately missed both the opening act and most of the headliner. At that point, with no clear indication that we would even get inside and only about an hour of the show left, we were forced to leave despite having valid tickets.
What made this situation worse was the response afterward. When I contacted the venue to request a refund or resolution, I was spoken to rudely and told, “Why do you think we owe you a refund? You still could have gone in the show.” That response completely ignored the reality of the situation—that the venue’s own entry issues caused us to miss the majority of the concert.
We did not choose to skip the show. We were prevented from attending in a reasonable timeframe due to poor crowd management and technical issues. The lack of accountability and dismissive customer service was extremely disappointing.
Based on this experience, I would strongly caution others before purchasing tickets here, especially if you expect assigned seating to mean smoother entry or if customer service matters to you.
