Urban Depot is so much more than a record store. It's entrance gives off the impression of an indie-centric music haunt for Leederville's trendy elite, but it's more akin to a one-stop shop for the suburb's hipster aristocracy. Upon entering, you're instantly greeted by the latest tune. They are, unfortunately, the only thing that will greet you. I'm met with a despondent stare from a floppy haired lad sitting at the counter, and am left to my own devices. Service aside, Urban Depot does discounts like a boss. I've found Maurie and Eve Shoes in here for $100, and a table full of other amazing footwear for similar prices.
Their range of men's and women's apparel is very similar to what you'd find at Billie and Rose or Subway DC. Lots of casual clothing mixed in with some party gear, buttery-soft leather bags by Elk, jewellery by Pigeonhole and a range of other items you'd find at stores of a similar caliber. It's all very trendy and urban cool, but not exactly anything you couldn't find without marching down Northbridge's William Street.
The music? I'm a fan of indie-rock and alternative tunes, so I found their selection quite pleasing. But once again, nothing to make you cry out in sweet jubilation.
