Urban Gruel

The food here is exceptional and flavorful. I highly recommend the schnitzel and onion rings. We also enjoyed the Bolognese and the hamburger was excellent (it is just that the schnitzel is a more unique find in this area). Friendly staff and a comfortable and cozy interior.

I have sat on this review mainly because I left that it wasn't running at 100 percent. Recently converted from a full evening dining experience to an all day lunch time menu. I think also a dinner menu too, but not sure if they have removed this. When we went they were apparently after just reopening, it showed a little. There was no alcohol other than wine. But they absolutely offered to run next door to the hotel. I wasn't bothered, and it gave me a chance to try some of the other non-alcoholic drinks available. The menu looks a little sparce with very few options available. Still this being said what they had to offer was extremely delicious. The short rib spaghetti bolognese was very tasty and filling. But the bucatini spaghetti wasn't my favorite for this dish, feeling more like a noodle rather than a pasta. The garlic bread was very tasty. Sadly often an overlooked accompaniment, so it was nice to see it represented here. The wifey went with the Chicken Schnitzel, honestly I didn't think she would choose this. But I have to say we both really enjoyed this. The fries were amazing, I preferred the skin on and perfectly crispy. And the added ranch sauce was something different. The batter was light and crispy with a very buttermilk taste, the chicken was perfectly tender. There are no major criticisms here and they serve great food. You can tell the owners really and put some effort into the place. I just wish they had more choices on the menu, technically 4 dishes with lots of sides options. As I said it felt that we'd gone into the restaurant during its opening phase. So It felt like there were still a couple of more changes that they needed to do.

Nice food in Westport. Really enjoyed our meal here - the servings were generous and everything was really nice. The beef empanada starter was delicious - and bigger than I expected. The only thing that would have made it better would have been something spicy on the side. Port steak for main as great, and strawberry dessert excellent. Great service. Thanks

Came here for an evening meal and was not disappointed. There's a nice relaxed atmosphere about the place. The staff are very friendly and informed. A diverse, unique menu which appears to change regularly with equally nice drinks options. Would recommend a visit!

A small place that's worth the detour and the booking to enjoy a nice dinner. The familial looking place is welcoming with very friendly staff. Most importantly the food is truly original and very tasty for both savoury plates and desserts. We very much enjoyed the well served mussels as starter, the lamb with its juice and mash, a show cooked pork (I think) that had a caramelized top, and the honeycomb ice cream. Enjoy ;-)

Got a take away tonight after walking Silver Strand with the dogs (and wife), ordered on the phone on the way back into Westport which meant the food was ready when we got into town. We ordered the Urban Pit Master Beef & Belly Burger with hand cut chips and a Greek Burger with onion rings..... both were absolutely delicious, really well priced and the portions were massive.... will definitely be back!

Came here on our first night in Westport and it was absolutely delicious! I had the mussels to start which were incredible and such a big portion! The beef short rib melted on your fork and was great as was the chicken dish. The staff were the right level of attentive and made you feel very welcome and relaxed. Would recommend this to everybody who likes freshly sourced fish and meat. Amazing value!

Just fantastic! Some of the best food in Westport! Great service and vibe. Amazing fish & chips, mac & cheese, and outstanding smash burgers! No kidding, this place is our new favorite in town.
