The 10 Best Museums in Berlin

"With works by top graffiti artists like Banksy going for tens of millions of dollars at auction, it's perhaps not surprising that there's now a museum dedicated to this art form. Opened in 2017, Germany's first street art museum is set in a converted residential building in an edgy area of Schöneberg, whose streets are brimming with graffiti murals. The museum's façade is a canvas for continually changing artwork; inside, the modern, tri-level space is open and airy, and as you would expect, popular with Instagrammers." - Jennifer Ceaser

"Urban Nation was founded back in 2013 by Yasha Young, originally as an official strategy to use Berlin’s facades as canvasses for creative and unique street art projects. Her work garnered plenty of attention and led to the opening, in 2017, of this four-story exhibition space in the Schöneberg district: Berlin 's first gallery dedicated to street art. Its several rooms and stairways present an impressive and surprisingly diverse mix of work by up-and-coming local artists and international big-hitters like Jeff Soto, VhiLs, Swoon, Borondo, Nuno, David Mesguiche, and Dan Witz, to name a few. Urban Nation also continues to commission work on building exteriors, some of which can be seen close to the museum, around Bülowstraße and surrounding streets. The space also hosts events and workshops, and from 2019 will launch an artist-in-residency program, complete with live painting sessions that the public can drop in and watch."

Google
A small but very cool spot. The layout of the space was amazing, and there were lots of interesting artworks to check out. Admission is free, but they do accept donations. Definitely worth a visit if you’re into street art or unique galleries. Had no troubles with finding the location at all either, as the exterior of the building itself was part of the art.

Open til 8 pm Small but special and vibrant exhibits on 2 floors of building. All age groups welcome Bring your kids, cool 4 teenagers. Must see 4 young adults exploring Berlin's new art places. Must step-by is the graffiti & sticker tagged restroom area. We had a great time (family of 4)

Yelp
Urban Nation is an amazing place for art lover. I"ve been here couple times and never got bored or disappointed. The gallery offer many amazing works from different artists. I love most the style they presented and great to get some new inspiration. It is free to visit and they usually change each exhibition between 1-3 months period of time. So visitors can have more time for the exhibition they interested at. They also paint the wall of the building outside time to time, very cool and camera ready.

Yelp
Urban Nation was the ultimate highlight of my trip to Berlin during October 2017. I had planned my itinerary well in advance, which was before discovering the Museum Of Urban Contemporary Art had opened on 16/09/2017, however when I heard of its existence I simply had to rearranged my itinerary and visit. Located at Bülowstraße 7, Schöneberg, it's easily accessible by train (UBahn), entrance is free and it's accessible Tuesday to Sunday 10am - 6pm. The walk from the station is fantastic, filled on all sides with mesmerising art adorning walls and buildings - a feast for the eyes to see work by Artists including Louis Masai, Marina Zumi and Shepherd Fairey etc as we strolled along the street. Once inside the museum building itself we found a beautiful, white, modern shrine to various worldwide giants of urban art. Two floors filled with vibrant, arresting and thought-provoking pieces by a vast array of contemporary artists ensured we spent over an hour inside absolutely awestruck. We could have stayed much longer if we hadn't a pre-booked tour to attend elsewhere. Some of my favourites included work by Meggs, Alessio-B, ROA, XENZ, Faith XLVII, HERAKUT, Case Maclaim, Ian Francis, David Walker, Hush and Rone. Don't miss Urban Nation if you're in Berlin - this is the best international art and museum in existence today. I can't wait to return...
