On the Grid : Urban Suburban Antiques

"Feed your nostalgia at Urban Suburban, an antique and vintage mall located in the Shoppes of Crestwood — also home to Seasick Records, Crestwood Coffee, and Crestwood Pharmacy & Soda Fountain. Filled with dozens of booths from 50-plus dealers who regularly rotate out items; stalls are packed with everything from clothing, MCM furniture, and housewares to paintings, records, and retro tchotchkes. Stuffy antiquers need not apply. The vibe here is more groovy than grandma." - Lewis Communications

Google
Great unique place to find everything from the perfect gift, house accent, antique books, there’s truly something for EVERYONE!!! Consists of many booths with a variety of fun items in each. They have authentic vintage and antique items that are all the rage in home decor right now! If you haven’t been yet- GO! You’ll thank yourself! Staff is very friendly and helpful!

Google
This is definitely one of the better antique/booth shops that I have visited in Birmingham. All of the booths are nice and clean. They are filled with real antiques, art, and nostalgic items. I will add this to my list if places to shop regularly.

Really cool antique store! It’s really big, lots of selections-furniture, wall decor, little nicknacks. And I feel like they have something for everyone to fit any vibe. Some things are pricey, but overall i feel like they’re pricing their things fairly. Definitely coming back soon to spend my whole paycheck on some paintings.

Google
What a great find this was! It is a lot larger than you would think by looking at the storefront. It goes way back and there are over 60 vendors with booths ranging from antiques to retro to contemporary styles. Prices range from reasonable to high but everything is negotiable. They have vintage cameras, record albums, collectibles, signs, books, furniture etc. If you are looking for a particular piece they probably have it. It’s fun to scout the place out and look at everything though. It’s like a museum! I recommend checking it out even if you don’t “need” anything because it’s fun to look at all the things each vendor has displayed!

So happy to find this place. It's full of small nooks with all kinds of treasures waiting to be discovered. Plan on spending some time if you really want to get the full effect.

Always love coming here. So make good funds and the prices are incredible. We usually try to at least come once a month.

Definitely worth the visit, but not if you were wanting cheap thrifting sales. Products are overpriced, but some unique finds maybe worth it. Pet friendly. Even exotic pets like lizards. I brought mine in and the ladies inside seemed exited. Definitely worth browsing.

I always spend far too much time here and find wonderful things.

Yelp
Urban Suburban is a brilliant place. It's one of those spots you can find yourself walking around inside for hours. There a stalls where small business owners can put their pieces inside and you can purchase them. I loved just looking at all of the items in each of the stalls. From furniture, jewelry, home decor they have it all. I would definitely classify this spot as a place to find one of a kind gifts. I had messaged them on IG a while ago asking if they had any bags of jewelry for sale. I know that is a popular trend these days. Unfortunately they did not have that, but I do think it would be a good thing to add to keep up to date with the trends. If anyone is in the area looking for a spot to kill some time, I highly suggest coming into Urban Suburban.

Yelp
Cool place with lots of booths that sell antique/ vintage stuff. I really enjoyed looking around in here. The place is much bigger than I thought. I definitely would like to come back here when I have more time. A lot of the stuff was pricey but there were also booths that were offering sales. There's a good selection of furniture, pictures, home decor, kitchenware, etc. Pretty much everything I saw was in good condition. I'll be back!

Yelp
It's an understatement to say I love Urban Suburban. The first time I walked in, I felt like a kid in a candy shop. It's a perfect blend of elegant and casual. It's not uppity like some antique stores can be. The people working are always super friendly and helpful. I have bought many items there -- side tables, china cabinet, knick knacks -- but more recently, they are my go-to for "Birmingham" items. Urban Suburban has a booth-style set up. Each booth is rented by different vendors, and the items in each booth are most always different each time you go in. Always an adventure at Urban Suburban!! Also, random, but the last time I was there, there was a poetry box outside the store, between Urban Suburban and Crestwood Coffee. Such a sweet little setup, that I had to take a picture.

Yelp
I don't usually go for coffee house type of places, but I really enjoyed the vibe here. It was crowded, but I was still able to grab a seat and get some work done. To eat I kept it simple, just a grilled cheese and unsweet tea. I would come back.

Yelp
This has to be one of the best antique spots in Birmingham. While not exactly huge, it has a number of individual booths with a nice balance of furniture, accent pieces, dishes, collectible items, pictures, and more. Prices here are reasonable and sometimes open for negotiation. Service is excellent. The place is clean, well organized, and easy to navigate. Note that all sales are final.

Yelp
An antique market with a variety of shops with unique items. They have a good selection of jewelry, furniture, and decor pieces. The prices are extremely fair. I went on a Saturday morning so it was not too busy. It is in a strip mall with plenty of parking.

Yelp
Organized and clean, but the staff wasn't very helpful, and there wasn't a lot of variety between the booths.

Yelp
I always find fabulous treasures at Urban Suburban! They have transitioned to more upscale vintage in the past few years...less junk and more high quality furniture and occasional pieces. There is also quick turnaround...you can go every couple of weeks and find new things. Each booth sets their own prices, so some of it is quite reasonable, some is a bit pricey. But overall, I find the majority of selections to be affordable. They will also hold purchased furniture for up to two weeks until you can arrange delivery. They don't deliver, but help you load and will wrap your furniture very nicely. Also, the staff is always very friendly. LOVE this place!

Yelp
If you have never been, YOU MUST GO. This place has the best vintage/antiques I have ever encountered. Such a good atmosphere. Super friendly and very helpful!

Yelp
I can't believe I'm the first to rate my favorite spot!!! I've been sneaking in and out of here the last 3 years to furnish and decorate my home from Urban Suburban! There is something for every style and very reasonably priced! Come visit Crestwood!!!!

Yelp
Great customer service! Store was well laid-out with individual booths. All items were easy to see. We left with two great purchases!

Yelp
One of the best places for home decor in Birmingham!!! I always find something I can't live without!! I love their art and all the mid century modern pieces and of course the antiques!! Trust me if you haven't been GO!

Yelp
After reading the reviews I drove out of my way when going thru Birmingham just to check it out Nice items at decent prices. I was interested in several items but out of 7 dealers in the establishment not one acknowledged my presence. Two people at front counter didn't even look up when I walked in the store or acknowledge my hello. I walked by the one guy in the front 7 times and never once did he speak. Won't spend my money where the consumer is not valued
