Urbano Hotel

This is a comfortable hotel, the rooms are okay, but a bit on the small side, and with only one electric socket available. The room however did have a well stocked bar and the shower was great. The rest of the hotel was adequate, but it does lack a lounge. The restaurant doubles as a lounge if required, you can sit on the foyer, but a dedicated lounge would have been great. The service overall was awesome, the staff at the desk could smile a bit more, but they did accommodate our every request, so not a huge negative. The bar staff were the opposite, always smiling and eager to oblige. It worth noting how good the door men were. Gideon, and in Particularly Prince, deserve pay rises, they are a great advert, not only for your hotel, but for the people of Ghana. The hotel is right in the middle of Oxford Street in Accra. This is a very trendy, touristy area with plenty of shops, eating places and a good bar scene. There are also several nearby ATM's. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel.

The place was very elegant especially with the spiral staircase to the oversized upstairs bdrm..Definitely a sweet spot near airport..

I booked hotel online for a six night stay. Check in was smooth and I was on my way. Room size reminded me of London. Small, congested and bunker bed. The bed picture showed for a standard room clearly didn't match. WiFi was weak but they immediately fixed it with an extender. Meals in Accra are just expensive and here was no exception. But they made their meals great and tasty. Room cleaning wasn't through through. I would find pieces of my previous day snacks still on my desk and I had to call them to refill shower gel when it finished. The staff were the highlight though. Very welcoming and helpful. Its a place I would stay again.

We stayed 2 nights at Urbano and found it fairly central on 2 busy roads. Banks and currency exchange within a block as well as convenience store with ATM.|Hotel room was basic with firm beds, TV with limited channels, free wifi, No views. Shower didn’t have much heat and we had to ask for a second towel and coffee mug as only one of each were provided.|Breakfast was included: yogurt, omelette, toast, sausage, couscous, some vegetables, tea and coffee.|In room safe provided.

Rooms are small, not enough room to “swing a cat”, charges 1st world prices for 3rd world service. No shower mat and the floor is like a skating rink when wet. Breakfast ran out of cereal, eggs, bread. Remaining buffet of non-descript stew and rice had probably been kept warm at bacteria breeding temperature for about 2 hours. Staff pleasant but clueless. Apparently they offer an airport transfer service but that depends on if they’ve got a driver and a vehicle so you can’t book anything until you pretty much need to leave. My advice is avoid.

Absolutely enjoyed my seven days at Urbano Hotel by Roots. Was picked up from the airport by shuttle. Whisked from the airport and brought to the hotel with no fuss or trouble. The check-in was trouble free. The receptionist was friendly and accommodating. The staff were great. I was escorted to my room. Again, great service and friendly staff. This being my first time in Ghana the staff were more than willing to give me guidance on things to do, places to go, tours to consider, and restaurants to consider. Grateful for all the input from staff on all aspects of my stay. Truly appreciated local suggestions. Favorite experience was getting a chance to meet with the hotel manager about an incident that had nothing to do with Urbano but set me back. The hotel manager was, like his staff, more than willing to meet with me and sit down and talk to me about my trip. He, like his staff, offered suggestions of food, places to go, and nightlife activities. Definitely a surprise find in Osu. In the hustling and bustling Oxford Street area know that the area is busy. 24/7 people are walking up and down Oxford Street. I thought it wonderful and suggested the safety of Accra and Ghana. Just a great experience. Highly recommend. Also want to point out that Urbano is just one of three Roots properties all within walking distance of each other. Each property is a little different. A pleasant and enjoyable stay in Osu.

Amazing workforce, really kind always prepared to help. You can ask anything via whatsapp and they will answer quickly. Really nice room, great bed, with a nice sofa a fridge and a freezer. The surroundings are nice and quiet, spend your money here!!

I am truly astonished that not a single customer review has mentioned the lack of a universal power outlet at this hotel. How can an establishment that primarily serves international travelers—located just 10 minutes from the airport—not provide such a basic necessity? No business with a serious, customer-centric management approach would overlook this fundamental requirement. Upon realizing this issue, I immediately checked out without staying the night. The receptionist appeared shocked by my decision and remarked, "Not having an outlet shouldn’t make you uncomfortable enough to check out." However, after long hours of travel, my phone was at 2% battery, and my laptop was nearly dead. Instead of offering a solution, I was told, "You could purchase a multi-socket adapter yourself, which will then become your property, or you can leave your phone at the front desk to charge." Does this sound reasonable in today’s modern world? I am genuinely surprised that no previous reviews have highlighted this issue. To make matters worse, when I pointed out this inconvenience, the receptionist bluntly stated that Urbano does not provide this service. It is incomprehensible that a business—especially one in the hospitality industry—would fail to prioritize the needs of its target clientele. Who builds a hotel without considering the basic needs of the people they intend to serve? Additionally, the website states that an airport shuttle is included, yet upon arrival, I was informed otherwise. Prospective guests should clarify this detail before booking to avoid unexpected inconveniences. Overall, the service was extremely poor. Urbano must do better—this is the bare minimum expected of any business that aims to serve international travelers. Book at your own risk!
