Came here for one night in our campervan. Beautiful location, maybe a bit close to the SH1 so offshore wind brings Road noise, but otherwise peaceful and next to a lovely beach. Lots of open space to pick your spot. Facilities are okay and quite basic. At $15 per person it’s really good value. Recommend

Uretiti is my favorite DoC campsite. I have been here many times. Over the years I have registered how clever managers can make a difference to a place. Steve and Adrien are simply the best. Help visitors the best they can. They are friendly. Maintenance on the ground is superb. Situated by the sea is an essential part essential for a sun and nature loving Danish “old girl”.

What a find! Friendly, helpful staff. Stunning beach, lovely flat camping spots. And of course showers, hot ($2) and cold (free). Facilities are kept clean. The long drop toilets are not smelly.

Arrived today and set up the caravan and awning. There are no specific sites just pick your own and pitch. There must be a 3 metre gap between sites.the guy on the mower was very friendly and helpful. 99 percent of the showers are cold but there is one set of hot showers that cost $2. Plenty of water on site and it is safe to drink. All rubbish is pack in a pack out. There is no electricity. No pets, no fires, we are here for a long stay. Unfortunately there is a second to my review and that is don't be here on long weekends as people don't care about distances and pitch where ever they want to. I have 3 fire extinguishers and a very well equipped first aid box Doc you need to administer in a way that it is safe for all campers. I won't be back on a long weekend ever again. I'll pay the difference and stay in a camping ground.

Lovely campground with lots of space. Clean flushing toilets and free cold showers . Hot showers are available for$2. Water is available but no hoses allowed. $16 per person per night is a bargain for this site. You can book online on the DOC website. The gorgeous beach is just next to the site .

A big and rambling campground. Security gate, clean long drop dunnies, lots of level ground for tents. Just a short walk to the long white sand beach. There are coin-operated hot showers. The others are cold, but who cares in the summer. Powered sites. A low budget bargain place to stay. Short drive to Waipu cove for basic shopping needs. If you can try to park close to the beach, away from the road as there is some traffic noise.

Excellent camping experience – GATED ENTRY! I visited during the high season (summer), and it was quite crowded, so make sure to book in advance. Upon arrival, you need to show your reservation to receive the gate code. The campsite is circular, and spaces are freely available to choose from. • No electricity. • Restrooms are scattered throughout the campsite. • Toilets: no flushing system. • Urinals in the men’s restrooms. • Cold water showers. • Hot water showers available (for a small fee). • Stocked with toilet paper and hand soap. • Dishwashing sinks are available, but bring your own utensils and detergent. The area is quite windy, so ensure your tent is well-secured. It’s a peaceful, family-friendly place – no disturbances during my stay. Access to an AMAZING beach is excellent. Kudos to the caretakers! I’ll return whenever I can ❤️

Nice place, and well maintained... But horribly crowded during the holidays. I saw lines 5 long for showers and toilets. Campers were jammed in like canned fish, literally tent to tent. I had much trouble finding basics; tent space(small tent), parking, shower& toilet time(people were camped all around the toilets), even beach access as RVs and large tents were camped so that it was difficult to find the path through the barrier.(And I've stayed here quite a bit) Off-season: a wonderful spot to camp. Holidays: stay clear.
