12 Best Places to Retire Around the World

"Thailand offers picturesque islands, a tropical climate, and affordable housing—with a cost of living about 47% lower than the U.S. and rent about 72% cheaper—and choices ranging from Bangkok and Chiang Mai to islands like Koh Samui and Phuket. The country provides long-term visas for people over 50 that require 800,000 baht (about $23,100) in savings and annual renewals, and it boasts excellent private and public hospitals with English-speaking doctors and nurses; expats cannot access public health insurance but can obtain private health insurance." - Patricia Doherty Patricia Doherty Patricia Doherty is a writer who specializes in covering destinations, resorts, and cruises for Travel + Leisure and other publications. Both of Chiang Mai and Bangkok are really good security. All staffs were nice starting from 1st station until the final station. A short line for interview and it is not serious question; a few questions for interview. Finally, she said Congratulations (^_^) Thanks for alll

Think carefully about whether to request your visa from this consulate. I had an interview that lasted for less than 3 minutes and my application for a tourism visa was refused (214b). This is despite the fact that I had previously visited the US multiple times for pleasure and work. I had also studied my masters in the US. A few years prior to my interview I had also been to several EU countries. Less than 6 months later I applied in another country and was granted a 10 year multiple entry visa. Unless you are a local Thai from North Thailand I don't recommend that you go to this consulate for your visa.

I tried to get a US visa to visit my boyfriend. He comes to Thailand for months at a time to visit me. In the interview they just asked my purpose of visit(to visit my boyfriend's family and where he lives), how long we have been dating(one year), and where in the US he lives. They denied me without looking at anything. I had so many documents prepared to help my case. If they deny you for just having an american boyfriend then they should ask that in the application and not let you continue if you say yes. But it seems like they just want to steal your money and waste your time. 6000 baht for 3 questions and they don't look at any documents. What a joke. For that much money you would expect they would spend at least 10-15 minutes per person and at least look at some of your documents to get rid of any doubts they have. If they don't have time to look at anything then lower the price or hire more people. 6000 baht for a 2 minute interview is absurd

Our baby was born a year ago. They misspelled my American husband’s name on the Consular Report of Birth Abroad. They told us to send the original copy to them and they will send us a new, corrected copy within 2 month. 4 months went by and nothing happened. We emailed them again and they said it was in the mail and to be patient. 3 more months went by and they asked for us to send in the original copy. We told them that we already did and asked them to read all of the previous emails. They answered and said they would look into the matter and get back with us. They never did. It has been 13 months since our daughter was born and she still cannot get her social security number because we don’t have a copy of the Consular Report of Birth Abroad certificate. We are unable to contact anyone from the US Consulate General as we are unable to gain access without an appointment but are unable to do so because when we call they say to email them but emailing them for the last 13 months has not worked. We do not know what to do anymore and hope that someone from their office will contact us so that we can finally get the corrected Consular Report of Birth Abroad certificate for our daughter who is an American citizen.

Efficient flow with mostly clear instructions. I got the 7:30 Queue and finished around 9:00. Applied F-1 Student Visa and got approved. As long as you have all the paperwork and a well filled out DS-160 there is no problem. For F-1 visa you also need to prepare cash around 40$.

It's the best United States Embassy. I love it that I actually got to speak to someone who spoke English and gave me information on the spot. More or less, they actually listened to me. I'm coming from somewhere the police wouldn't help me or the consulate in that country. IM very hopeful. Now, when you are allowed inside. It's like going through security at the airport. Leave any and everything that has metal in it at home. They will take it and put it in a bag for you until you leave. Then, once the security potion is done. You go to a waiting room. Now I have heard my name. I didn't know where to go. So I walked through another door peeping in, and I saw someone. They are really fast. I was in and out in 15 minutes.
