"When it comes to the Mediterranean, Mykonos has long been a crowd-pleaser of the queer jet-set and circuit party crowds. But with recent, increased direct flights from the U.S. and a boom in high-style hotels like The Setai, The Norman, and The Lighthouse, LGBTQIA+ travelers are discovering a welcomed alternative in Tel Aviv. The city’s unrivaled beach culture with dynamic, Bauhaus-heavy architecture at its backdrop is reason enough to visit, but LGBTQIA+ travelers find themselves attracted to Tel Aviv most for its open, inclusive, and bohemian spirit. Prior to the COVID-19 crisis, Israel was already seeing record-breaking tourism numbers, attracting Ricky Martin, Andy Cohen, and Neil Patrick Harris as its recent, notable gay guests of honor at Tel Aviv Pride. While that celebration undoubtedly lives up to the hype in this extroverted city, travelers should also consider touching down for Purim in March. A feast for the eyes, the Jewish holiday is marked with lively parties spilling out onto the streets and lots of queer attendees dressed in lavish costumes that rival even the best Halloween celebrations in New York and West Hollywood." - Travel + Leisure Editors

Good security. Better not to bring bags, cigarettes and lighter. If you need to bring then it's cool. There's a deposit locker just across the street. It cost 15 shekels. Good behavior of the staff. Easy smooth experience.

Denial of visa even it was extension. Very rude, didn’t ask any questions, didn’t check any docs. The reason for denial: they don’t find connections why we came to Israel to get visa!!!! Be educated dear officers- we don’t have USA embassy in Russia. And since you provide the service and take FEE for interviews- we came here . And be thankful that tourists come to Israel bringing money to your country. But you guys so rude with no reasons - it’s a shame

Better not bring bags, if you do, there's storage across the street for 15 shekels (can't bring any bag, phone and headphones inside). Inside was fine, orderly and clear. Staff was nice.

Upon entering the embassy you can not have anything with you other then the following: pertaining documents, payment, house/car keys. NO PHONES/PURSES are permitted! Everything else needs to be stored at lockers at nearby stores that have storage lockers (20NIS). However, be aware that on FRIDAYS, during winter months, the locker storage CLOSES EARLY, around 2:00pm. If you do come on a Friday afternoon make sure you come with someone who can hold your stuff.

Such rude customer service!!! I've been trying to schedule an emergency passport renewal appointment for 2 days now because they tell you online is the only way to book it and yet there is no availability within 90 days (and beyond actually). At the end of the second day of trying I call the Tel Aviv embassy, get through to the operator, explain to her what's happening, only to hear that I should continue trying (there's only a 1hr window mind you) and get hung up on!!! Is this how the US being represented abroad? Shame!!

If you're a citizen, you won't wait long to get in, but once you're there make sure you have a good book because it could take a while. Don't forget that your not allowed to bring in food, drink, electronics or even pills... You can bring in a small bag (clutch size) with your wallet and keys and any relevant documents. If you have a car, leave your stuff there. If not, there are a million coffee shops all around that will rent you a cubbyhole for about 15 shekel where you can leave your phone and other prohibited objects while you're inside. If you bring an empty water bottle the is a water cooler inside which you can fill it up with. If you have kids, rest assured that they actually have some really nice toys in play area of the waiting room which helps tremendously in passing the time. If you have really small children, sometimes the guards will let you sneak in a snack for them, but don't take it as a given and bring everyone on full stomachs! The staff are incredibly kind and helpful too

Operator didn't like to hear the question , said I was yelling at her but I wasn't. I'm frustrated because the Jerusalem office said I should call Tel Aviv and tell Aviv said I should call someone else. And while I'm trying to ask a question the Israeli woman on the phone kept interrupting me and said wow and hung up. There are names for people like her I may need to fly stateside at any moment to attend my mother's funeral and need answers because of the restrictions on US citizens flying in and out of the US. But nooooooo she was too busy to help.msy she face the same as me and more

Showed up on time, brought all necessary documents, staff was very helpful and super friendly. Waiting times once inside can be a bit long. Check the list of prohibited items on the embassy website and plan accordingly, so you will have time to stash your phone, bags, etc. in your car or storage facility across the street. Also, the storage place across the street does passport photos for 35 shek. Paid parking is available directly across the street(I think it's called hayarkon central park 🅿️) , so drive slow, keep in the right lane, and don't miss the entrance to the parking lot, as the sign is kinda small. Good luck!
