An iconic spot in Thamel, Utse Restaurant is perfect for trying authentic Nepali flavors. We tried the laphing and jhol momo, and both were absolutely delicious. A must-visit if you want a taste of traditional local dishes in a cozy setting.

Vile, absolutely vile food. Do NOT recommend the momo veg. Bought chilli veg steamed momo. They were boiled and stuffing really mashed and gluey like gelatine. Paid 285 nep rup for this muck. Large woman on counter saw I left the muck momo behind and when I told her it was inedible she still charged me the full cost. Worst momo in the over six weeks duration of this country Terrible service too unless white westerner And this is how they served up the slop. Look at the picture. Even my dogs got their dinner unslopped on the plate. Looks like they threw it on the plate

And finally, more momos. I could live on these. Nepal never met a dumpling it didn’t perfect. Utse serves them warm and soft. The ambiance is cozy and warm. This spot has been here awhile and you can tell. Huge families were gathered around the tables.

Full honors for this traditional Tibetan place! The interior is serene and very attractively designed, with traditional wood carvings ornamenting the walls. One can purchase toongpa here, a handmade beer -- it is flagon of fermented millet to which hot water is added, resulting in a sour, satisfying brew. The food was superb: tofu with greens, vegetable soup, potatoes, and rice. They also serve traditional Nepali dishes. Everything was priced well and the service could not have been nicer.

Was looking forward to dining here and was not disappointed. Loved the selection of Tibetan food and enjoyed the blood sausages and chili momos the most. It's along a main street so was lively with lots of walk-ins and satisfied diners.

Excellent breakfast and super affordable. I didn't want a western breakfast so somehow found this place for tradition Nepalese and tibetan breakfast & cuisine. Food comes out fresh and it's a really quiet, peaceful ambience. The momo was a bit over salty but other than that, we'll come back here again!

The first Tibetan-Nepali Cuisine in Thamel! And the meal was amazing. Tibetan Hot Pot or “Gyakok” x Tongba combo is definitely a must. Buff Momo/ Tongues/ Jhol Momo are also delicious. Don’t forget to buy their “Utse cookbook” and ask for the author’s signature. 🧡

I seem to end up here every time I am. In Kathmandu. The thing to order is the Tibetan set meal. I also tried the Millet beer for the first time. It was unique and something I would indeed order again.
