Utsjoki Aurora Holidays & restaurant

This was a perfect experience. Everyone on the staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. From taking us to/from the airport (2.5 hours away), to cultivating a delicious menu of items, and ensuring we got the best pictures of the Northern Lights... Aurora Holidays is a "must stay" place in Finland.

I can’t say enough good things about Aurora Holidays. The staff is kind, going out of their way to accommodate everyone’s requests, from dietary restrictions to fun photos taken. The chef made the most incredible meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The activities gave us an authentic feel of what it means to live in northern Finland, and we learned so much from each moment we spent with them. This was a once in a lifetime trip, made more special by the people who led us the whole way.

Our trip with Aurora Holidays (Tina & Sonja) was absolutely magical! From the moment we landed at Ivalo Airport, we felt welcomed and taken care of. The cabins were modern and spacious, beautifully renovated, with private saunas. Tina and Sonja expertly planned our days based on our chosen activities and weather, allowing us to relax and enjoy a well-paced schedule. The meals were delicious and plentiful, the king crab was out of this world! What truly set this trip apart was the convenience. We didn't need to chase the Northern Lights; they danced right above our cabins! The views were breathtaking. Tina and Sonja's passion for their locally owned business shines through in every detail. They genuinely care about creating an unforgettable experience. Their personal touch made the trip feel authentic and special. Highly recommend Aurora Holidays for a truly unforgettable Arctic getaway.

We experienced the truly incredible Autumn Northern Lights package in September 2025. Tiina and her team worked so hard to provide a memorable experience from beginning to end. Accommodations: The cottages are in a beautiful scenic, remote location right on a river. They were very clean, cozy and well equipped. The private sauna is amazing! Restaurant/Food: Very locally sourced ingredients including lingonberries, cloud berries, reindeer and fish from the river. Everything was so fresh and delicious. Service: The Aurora Holidays team was so friendly and welcoming. It's a very well organized itinerary. We saw the Northern lights 3/5 nights thanks to Tiina who was determined not to disappoint us. After 2 nights of cloudy skies, we chased the lights to clear skies based on a tip from a friend 30 mins away and we saw them! The experiences/activities included provided a nice mix of relaxation and adventure (Going to Norway to crab fish was such a highlight!). I highly recommend this vacation getaway to Utsjoki!

8 of us friends went to Utsjoki(sept16-21) to spend a week with Aurora Holidays. From the time we were picked up in Ivalo to the time we were dropped off at the end of the stay.....it was magical. The atmosphere was very homely. The staff were always willing to help. The food was amazing. The young chef came up with some excellent , tasty dishes and never repeated the same dish again. The tours during the day were very enjoyable especially the King crab fishing expedition. Our Guides were outstanding. Tina, the owner is responsible for making it very enjoyable and comfortable. She is there for every event and she took some fantastic pictures of us under the Northern lights. We were lucky to see the lights 3 nights in a row. The autumn colors were and amazing. It was a very memorable trip and our heartfelt thanks to Tina and her team for making this so memorable. We want to go back there to experience the Polar nights

An unforgettable experience! We stopped by for a meal before seeing the Northern Lights and were warmly welcomed. The host was lovely, sharing stories about Finland and even showing us videos of reindeer races. The food was incredible—our reindeer and fish burgers were fresh, and full of flavor. And to top it off, we were treated to breathtaking views of the Northern Lights. A must-visit for a magical evening!

What a MAGICAL vacation experience! They cover all aspects of your trip…picking you up/dropping you off at the airport, lodging in cute cabins/mini houses, scrumptious meals, and all the touristy adventures you’d want when trekking so far north. We went crab fishing in the Arctic Ocean (and dipped in!), went hiking, walked Siberian huskies, had some meals/s’mores around a campfire, and chased the northern lights. They did a phenomenal job consulting radar, following the weather, and consulting contacts in the area. We traveled when necessary to find the northern lights…and we were able to see them on 3 different nights! I could not recommend them higher!

An insider tip and a place to feel at home: fresh, creatively prepared, delicious and reasonably priced food, friendly and helpful waitress and owner, pleasant décor and atmosphere, in a natural and sparsely populated area of Lapland. They also rent out holiday cottages, some with a view of the river. They organise tours for nature and cultural experiences and have their own herd of reindeer, whose meat they use to make reindeer kebabs or serve traditionally stewed, which tastes delicious. I can wholeheartedly recommend this place.
