This place has a nice ambience: cozy, welcoming, and beautifully decorated with a lot of attention to detail. It’s the kind of spot where you can sit back, relax, and enjoy a good meal. The staff speak good English, which made everything smooth and pleasant. As for the food, everything we tried was flavorful and well-prepared. You can really taste the effort that goes into each dish. Personally, I think the pineapple fried rice is a must-try. It’s not my first time having pineapple fried rice, but this one stood out - the rice had those slightly crispy bits, it added such a nice texture, so good.👍 Overall, it was a lovely dining experience. Highly recommended if you're looking for a place with great vibes and delicious vegan/vegetarian food!

The food and drinks were beautiful! The vibe and service were great. I would definitely like to come back next time and probably introduce my friends to this place for healthier options. However, most of the dishes I ordered today contained coconut cream or coconut milk. It would be nice to have some options that taste lighter and more delicate. Overall, 9.5/10

Delicious food brilliantly executed. Refined elegant dining space. We found the service a bit lacking, maybe they were having an off day? We would return as the food exceptional and well priced for the quality.

Not Worth the Price The entrance wasn’t like a typical restaurant – it felt more like stepping into an old palace. The food presentation was beautiful, but unfortunately, the taste didn’t match the look. We ordered cheese rice sushi, pineapple rice, pine soup, banana hot pot soup with laksa, rice crackers with corn, lychee longan tea, and mango passion fruit juice. Honestly, it was just okay and not particularly impressive. The prices were quite high for the small portion sizes. We even requested for the dishes to be made spicy since we enjoy spicy food, but everything turned out bland. Given that it’s a Michelin Guide-listed restaurant, we came with high expectations — especially since our hotel manager recommended it — but it turned out to be underwhelming.

The best vegetarian meal I've ever had! The flavours were perfect the spice was balances and the inspiration from different cuisines was sublime. We have another two days in Hanoi after our trip into the amount wind and this place will be on our list to return to.

Loved the ambience, architecture, creative drinks, and food. Their menu is super extensive. We would love to come back another day to try their other more unique dishes. Also tip for other travellers, try to wear long pants and closed shoes! I got bitten by a few mosquitoes under the table.

Terribly disappointing experience at Ưu Đàm Chay. We came with high hopes due to the restaurant’s reputation and stylish decor, but unfortunately, the service was shockingly poor. First, we had to climb two very slippery staircases to reach the second floor. It felt unsafe and poorly maintained. Once upstairs, the restaurant was nearly empty, so we expected quick service — but that couldn’t be further from what happened. A staff member simply pointed to a table, handed us menus, and disappeared. We waited patiently, assuming someone would come to take our order shortly. But no one ever returned. After an unusually long and frustrating wait — without any follow-up, water, or acknowledgment — we gave up and left. Wasting that much time for nothing was infuriating. What made it worse was the fact that the menu prices were quite high for a vegetarian restaurant, yet the service felt worse than a cheap street-side eatery. We didn’t get to try the food, but if the service is any indication, I wouldn’t expect much. Overall, this was one of the most unwelcoming and disappointing dining experiences I’ve ever had in Hanoi. Definitely not recommended. Save your time, energy, and money — there are better vegetarian options in the city.

We really enjoyed our experience. It is a super special location, a big minimal building that feels like a monastery. The menu is very extensive and a little over whelming. We liked the food, the flavours are definitely subtle but everything is very creative and there are a lot of interesting dishes. We definitely over ordered as the portions are very generous . It was kind of hard to book as their website did not work but we went by in person to book a table. I wish their service was a little more helpful and attentive as it’s a really nice restaurant otherwise and the level doesn’t quite match.
