"The Four Hour Happy Hour There are plenty of things to love about Uva, but one of my favourite things is its daily happy hour which lasts from 2-6pm, offering buck a shuck oysters, delicious bruschetta (my favourites are the ricotta, and the devilled egg), and excellent prices on well-crafted cocktails, beer and wine. Must-trys on the regular cocktail menu include the herbaceous Chartreuse Milkshake, and the superby smoky spirit-forward Peater Rabbit. Live music at the weekends and a buzzing late night scene make this idea for fun in the evenings, but it’s a fantastic place to chill with a book or your laptop during the day when it’s quieter."

Great spot for drinks and snacks. The espresso martinis were amazing! Also the meatballs were delicious! Highly recommend this cute little spot. Very close to orpheum theatre. Great spot to go before a show. Service was great.

Uva Wine and Cocktail Bar in Vancouver is a solid choice for a casual night out. We tried a few snacks, which were tasty and paired well with the drinks. The cocktails were well-made and enjoyable, showing good attention to detail. The service was quick, and the atmosphere was nice—relaxed but with a bit of buzz. It’s a good spot if you’re in the area and looking for a place to grab drinks and light bites. Overall, a pleasant experience!

The worst triple cooked potato ever! Not sure how they could make it taste like that. Seems like it was from 3 days ago cooked every day but not served until we got there

I’ve been curious about this place for a while ana It surprised me positively. My linguini with scallops was delicious, also the wine selection if worthy to taste.

Very nice place. Relaxed, casual, romantic atmosphere. We had been here before for Martini's. I had the Irish cream one which was great. Back again. Had a Dark matter, but it was disappointing that it came in a small glass :( every other place I had it before it came as a pint, for the same cost... Bartender is very nice and knowledgeable. He made a great Vesper martini. Sogar only had the meatballs which have a great flavour but a little bit a weird texture and could be softer.

Stopped by Uva for cocktails and this place was really good. There were barely any folks on a Sunday evening so we were seated promptly. The bartender is friendly and made amazing cocktails. We wanted to order the Pangea but they ran out of something so we ordered for Fireside Night Cap and One night Stand. Boy were these drinks delicious. Fireside night cap is served with a side of walnuts to enhance the taste of the drink and it truly does make a difference. The One night stand was one of my favorite cocktails with banana liquer and mind you I am not a fan of fruity cocktails. It was delicious. Highly recommend this cocktail bar in Vancouver.

This spot serves breakfast from 8am until 2pm. Tucked underneath the Moda Hotel breakfast is available not only to the guest but is also open to the public. While the menu consists of only a handful of items, the items offered caters to all dietary needs and tastes. The food came out fast. Everything tasted fresh and the presentation was fantastic. The pancakes were Soo fluffy it was amazing! Hats off to the chef and our server. We definitely went back up to our suite with food coma! Highly recommend. Great job guys!!

Google
Amazing cocktails and food. The waitresses were also very friendly. The hostess told us we had to wait for 10-15 minutes for a table of 4 and it was such a smart move for her to give us the menu in advance so we could get a sense of what we want to order and also helped us kill time. For cocktails, I highly recommend the Peach Fuzz and Snap Dragon! Both are very refreshing drinks.

Yelp
Went here on a whim after a concert. It was late at night and many places weren't opened. At night this place looks kinda mysterious as it's on the corner and since it's night with the red door, looked kinda cool. This spot is located on the corner of Smithe and Seymour. Got a cocktail but can't remember the name, but it was good! Service was good too. The servers/bartenders were chill and nice. The vibe is low key.

Yelp
I was catching up with a very old friend of mine and were looking for a casual bar in downtown Vancouver. We got a reservation at Uva just a few hours before we went there and it was a Friday evening! I loved the vibe of the place, they had a big menu with a lot of items on there but my friends and I mostly went their for drinks. My friend tried their Frida Kahlo drink which had montelobos mezcal, cocci di torino sweet vermouth, campari, aperol, grapefruit. It was really good!! So for the rest of the night that is all I got!! The service was very nice, they were very attentive and kept checking on us to see if we needed anything. The serves were also nice enough to take a group photo of us after :) Towards the end of the night we decided to order fries and I'm not sure if it was the alcohol or what, but their fries were amazing!!! and the garlic dipping sauce really added to it. I would definitely recommend this place if you want to hangout with friends and grab a few drinks. It is very centrally located in downtown Vancouver :)

Yelp
I really wanted to enjoy Uva. It's around the corner from party-party-party Granville St. On a summer evening in the middle of a heat wave, it was warm inside. Unfortunately, so were the reds by-the-glass. Most reds are meant to be served at ambient temperature, agreed, but let's remember that we're talking ambient cellar temperature in Europe, which is a lot closer to 15C than 25C, which would also be 60F rather than 80F for those of us south of that border. The couple glasses I had (a tempranillo and I don't recall the other) were decent and pricing was definitely a bargain, but I just can't put the place on my short-list for a future Vancouver trip.

Yelp
This is one of the first bars I went to in Vancouver and overall the first impressions were solid. It wasn't too busy on a Friday night, so we, as a party of 4, can opt to either sit at the bar or one of the tables. We opted for the table for better conversations, though the bar itself looks quite aesthetic. I personally tried the Fiery Nightcap which is pretty solid - a bit smokey though with the ice that was melting fairly fast, it was a bit more diluted so the drink didn't feel that strong or give any sort of "fiery" effect if that is what they intended. One positive is that, as the menu suggests, they gave a side of unsalted walnuts for you to nibble while you drink the nightcap, which enhances the experience a bit as it somewhat pairs pretty well. Service is decent but a little slow. They gave us water and as we drank a lot of water to complement the drinks, they mentioned they will refill the water but they ended up not following through for the next 10 minutes. They also almost forgot the apricot candy from my friend's Pangea drink and the side of walnuts for my drink, but they fortunately quickly corrected it which was great. Overall, this bar has a nice classy ambience but the drinks were not as strong and flavorful as I have hoped from a bar of this impression.

Yelp
The service was above snd beyond. The young man who served us was knowledgeable about the wines, imagine my delight at finding one of the rare ice wines that I had been craving! It was quiet and peaceful when we went, we only checked out the dessert menu which was lovely.

Yelp
Top notch cocktails and super friendly staff. 10/10 recommend. We dropped in on whim and sure glad we did!

Yelp
Price/quality (4/4): The drinks here are truly impressive, though they do tend to be more complex than in most places. I've come here multiple times and they've never failed to impress, even though most drinks (especially outside of happy hour) tend to be on the pricier side. Service (1/1): Service was friendly and effective. Would I come here again: Yes

Yelp
Stopped in during happy hour and tried their personal pizza and peroni lager, not sure why the pizza turned out to be slightly more on my bill than what was currently advertised on their current website (Nov 2023) but I didn't make fuss over it as it was pretty good. Next time I'll ask up front if their happy pricing is different vs regular menu

Yelp
Lovely ambiance, soft, relaxing Jazz playing. It's quiet and not crowded, ( it's early in the day). I'm enjoying a nice local Pinot Noir from the Okanagan Valley. Service is great. My server even recommended a place for dinner tonight .
google avatar

Yelp
it's pretty good. I got the Pangea and it was sweet. they almost forgot the gummies but that's ok. I feel like they could have had more of a selection in the Japanese department. the service I feel might have been a little slow but they were kinda busy so it was understandable.the drinks were pretty good for the most part.

Yelp
Been waiting to try this place for a while now. Always walked past it downtown but never had the chance to drop by. We were super pleased with everything from the food to service. We went during a slower time and it was an amazing experience. We had several cocktails that we allowed the bartender to create within the "gin" theme and he delivered beautifully. My favourite cocktail is pictured with a delightful egg white foam. When we went, they had a new blue cheese that they were sampling "la pyramid" I believe. Don't quote me on that. The staff only had a tiny bit left but as we requested a second helping they made it happen. Definitely coming back here for drinks then heading to their sister restaurant for the nucks game!

Yelp
Delicious breakfast! This is not a typical "breakfast diner" but instead it's a nice coffee shop that serves great food! If you're downtown, stop in to UVA!

Yelp
Wine flights, delicious award winning cocktails, and a yummy cheese and charcuterie platter? What more could I want?! My friend and I came for happy hour and were able to snag a table by the window. Perfect spot for people watching. The ambiance in here is modern and flirty and is ideal for date nights or a girl's night out. The happy hour menu is short and sweet, with the full food menu being served starting at 6pm. To drink, my friend and I each got the gin-gin donkey (gin, ginger beer, ginger wine, sage, lime, grapefruit, and hops bitters) and to eat we split the cheese platter, charcuterie platter, and the focaccia bread. I loved that the platters were served with warm toasted bread drizzled in olive oil. I can't remember what the cheese was, but it was delicious. I also loved the pecans and fig jam that was served on the side. I think our favourite was surprisingly the focaccia bread. It came served with olive oil and balsamic vinegar which added some extra flavour, but to be honest I quite enjoyed eating it plain. It was that good. It came out fresh and warm, easy to tear, and had the perfect "toasted" crunch while still being soft in the middle. I don't think I've ever described focaccia bread in this much detail before, but point is: get the damn focaccia bread. Wyeth took great care of us the whole time. He recommended the gin gin donkey cocktail and turns out he was right, it was so awesome that I ended up ordering a few of them. I think it may be my favourite cocktail I've ever had and I've drank a loooot of cocktails. I'll be back for more gin gin donkeys and focaccia bread!

Yelp
There is an asian guy who works here, and he makes great drinks! I hate mezcal drinks but he's able to make a mezcal cocktail without the heavy smokiness from it. No idea how he did it, but it was great! The service here was wonderful. This place very cute. Great for a date where you can actually hear your date. So take him/her here if you actually want to talk to the person.

Yelp
I've wanted to visit this lounge/bar forever, and recently I got the chance, as I met a friend here before going to a show at the nearby Commodore Ballroom. This place is GREAT! Of course I missed the Happy Hour window (of course), so the drinks were markedly higher priced. But their selection of wines and cocktails is out of this world! It was hard to decide, with such an extensive menu. I'm a lightweight when it comes to drinks so I told the friendly server to surprise me, saying as long as the drink was sweeter and not gin-based. He returned with a delicious concoction (kinda mai tai-ish). Super good! My friend had a gin cocktail which was so good, she ordered two. (I ordered a second, too. So good!). We're both on budgets and the drinks here are pricey, so it speaks volumes that we both ordered seconds. Yes, the drinks are that good. And the servers were both friendly and knowledgable and attentive. And the venue is intimate and lovely. I really liked this place. It has a swanky vibe. They have extended hours, too, which is good to know. I will return for sure.

Bryan F.

Yelp
They have a broad drink menu, so it's easy to find something you'll like. The food comes from the Italian restaurant next door, so you won't be disappointed. It's worth a visit.

Yelp
Great little place & the music selection is very nice as well: hip hop jazz vibes. The mixologists definitely know what they are doing. Pros: -Quaint, chill date night or girls night out Vibes -incredible drinks -Good Music Cons: -A bit on the pricey side you can easily spend $60-$80 just on a few drinks not including food -parking will be hectic take a cab as it's on the corner tucked away Honorable mentions: Flight of the concord & Southside: crisp & well Balanced without being overpowering

Yelp
We came to UVA to grab a cocktail before a show at the Orpheum and I really felt for the staff. There were two gentleman that should get full props for not absolutely losing it on their shifts as it was so busy and it was just the two of them. It was very clear that this night was a struggle for them as they were grossly understaffed. Tables were walking out before they were able to order, and drinks were never delivered to tables that ended up having to leave. The two staff apologized to tables and kept their spirits high which honestly I think some servers would have walked right out on that shift! I've been to UVA in the past and it was a much more relaxed vibe as when I went before they have enough staff to cover everyone. If you're going to be open before a show night, I really suggest the management get things in place whether it's reducing capacity inside the bar itself to minimize the stretch on the limited staff because this was just a painful experience to watch overall as a customer. Based on the uncomfortable nature of this experience, I'd probably skip going back to UVA on a show night altogether. What's also a shame is we would have definitely spent more money but because they couldn't turn orders or drinks fast enough we only ended up with one cocktail for an hour and a half. I got a really yummy espresso style martini and my partner ordered a negroni which came out a touch watered down. The three stars here are for the two guys who held it together and still kept smiles on even though I'm sure they were exhausted.

Yelp
Came here with a friend to celebrate his birthday over a couple drinks and some nibbles. Given it was the middle of the holiday season, we only could nab a couple bar stools around 6pm. After our cocktail, some people left and we nabbed a smaller table which made it more comfortable. The bartender was nice and so was our server. Our server recommended the meatballs. To be honest, I'm not a meatball lover but these were good!! He also recommended to order some foccacia to sop up the sauce. We also had the prosciutto and melon and arancini. This is a nice place to grab some drinks but maybe only a nibble or 2.
google avatar

Stevie K.

Yelp
Similar experience to the other 2022 reviewer; place was way too understaffed (only one server and the bartender). Took a very long time to order, get drinks, and pay the bill. Feel bad for the staff.

Tess R.

Yelp
We really enjoyed our evening here. The bartender and waitress were both very personable and friendly, and the food was delicious. Yummy cocktails!

Yelp
This place was right next to where we were staying down town. It is a small bar with nice dim lighting and a cozy atmosphere while still feeling hip and well decorated. The drinks are a bit pricey but good overall. I recommend the Pineapple Express and Cherry Blossom. We left this bar to check out some others and ended up just coming back! There are two things this bar can improve on. The music was just a bit too loud. Carrying a conversation was difficult and this is not a place you would find people dancing. So, why? I don't know if I'd recommend this for a date for that reason. Second, I agree with the rest of the reviews that the food is very expensive for subpar quality and about 4 bites per plate.
google avatar

Shari L.

Yelp
Hit or miss. Many of the bartenders here now are new, and it shows. When asked for drink suggestions, the descriptions can be good or miss the mark. On top of which, service is not particularly friendly. I've had a couple experiences where the server/bartender practically tried to ignore us. That being said, decent cocktails on average, and a nice interior for evening chats. Prices are typical cocktail bar, maybe plus a couple Yaletown dollars. We come back intermittently since it's in the neighbourhood but otherwise I might check out other places.

Yelp
- Fantastic cocktails - Good suggestions based on taste - Bartenders are magicians - place is open late which is a plus - Romantic environment, you are definitely getting some afterwards - The waiters can be a little inattentive
google avatar

Yelp
This "wine bar" should really be called a craft bar! They make the best specialty craft drinks around and their own bitters and accompaniments. Since I was "drinking" I can't remember the names of them, but everything that I ordered was original. The food is pretty awesome too!
google avatar

Chee K.

Yelp
This place was where we ended up when I looked up cocktail bars. I love the tininess and the mixologists definitely know what they're doing. I had their happy hour special and it was so good that I ordered a second. Their list of regular cocktails, wines and drinks are long so I liked their more limited options on their happy hour but I also like a good deal. It had grapefruit and vodka, so refreshing. This place is cozy, they play good music and it's one of my favorite places I went to while visiting wonderful Vancouver!

Adam R.

Yelp
As always, great cocktails, wine and food. Super cozy atmosphere. Bartenders are fantastic and always make the experience fun. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Came here only for a drink, pretty empty on a Tuesday night around 1130pm..so of course. Seemed like lotsa regulars came in around that time. Friendly bartenders, refilled our waters regularly. Tried both Daydreamers, one is stirred with Woodford and the other was Knob Creek 16. The Woodford one was quite smooth, very easy to drink, your typical well made Old Fashioned, very appropriate for someone who is trying Old Fashioneds for the first time. Meanwhile, the Knob Creek was just as good, but in a different way...it was definitely bolder and almost spicier. I liked them both, depends on if you're feeling for smooth or a pinch. They have specials every day of the week, so check that out! Not from the area, so I couldn't join in on that. They also have wine flights (including bubbles) options on their regular menu. Honestly dropped by because it was right across from where I stayed.
google avatar

Katie H.

Yelp
I liked this place because it has character, but I didn't love it. My sister had reserved a table for 6 to celebrate my bachelorette but when we arrived the servers had no idea about any reservations and said "you come and seat yourselves here." To our luck, there was an available table for us. It's an intimate space with limited seating and appeared to have a lot of people that were either on a date or coworkers. Food was alright but too expensive for what you're given. Drinks were fun. We all had different wine flights. Who doesn't like flights?

Yelp
This is a cross-over revue of Cibo Trattoria and Uva Wine Bar. We ordered from the menu at Cibo but dined in the lounge portion of the Moda Hotel, called Uva. The setting is gorgeous and modern. I can't believe this once housed the Dufferin hotel. This hotel has done a complete 360 degree turn. The only shadow of the Dufferin is in the address. We came to check out the wine bar. What was surprising was how limited the selection was. There were no representatives from South America. Chilean and Argentinian wines are worthy to taste test. What I find lacking was something the now defunct Vintrpolis I feel successfully executed. They offered a trio of wines to taste. Something this relatively new place might consider in the future. I suppose that will come in the future. I had read another reviewer who mentioned her concern with their low selection of by the glass wines. This was something all of us were concerned about as we flipped through their list. Off of their cocktail list, the greenwich sour cocktail made with bourbon, lemon juice, cane sugar and a red wine float. One of our servers recommended it due to my request for what he would consider their fruitiest drink. This was not an over the top sweet, in fact, it was just right with a hint of sour I could tolerate. Now if you are looking for something that tips the balance more towards the 'sour' give the Hemingway Daiquiri a try. The next time I go to this place, I need to try things off their charcuterie. It actually looked more appetizing than the items I chose from their restaurant. Each of the dishes we had ordered fell flat. The buffalo mozzarella was simple and understated in its flavour but not memorable. When it was a struggle to cut through the dish to eat - bad sign. Let me say this, whether it's a steak or a piece of bread, any act of watching someone try sawing roughly to eat it, is never a good sign. I ordered a Canoncetti (spelling) pasta. This pasta was literally filled with a cornicopia of meats ground together with, yes a chinese dumpling flavour. The pasta itself was a little too al dente. Overall, not spectacular. No flavour ever overwhelmed. Each dish had a similar tone. It's not that the dishes were bad, they were just so dull. I expect more from any food that hangs on an italian palette. The dessert goes down in history as one of the most unsightly things I have ever seen. I really couldn't each much of it. See the photos. I'm sure you could come up with ideas of what you think it looks like. Each of us were overwhelmed at the visuals of this chocolate and hazelnut semifriddo. Taste? Skip it and try the chocolate nemesis. The service was poor. Although I have heard it has been better from my companions that have come here before. Numerous times we asked our server for the same thing but to no avail. That my friend is poor service. It's not to say, I would not go here again. It's good for chilling. I've heard it has been better so I am giving it the benefit of the doubt. I have no desire to try more food from, Cibo but I will consider trying the items from the charcuterie that is part of the UVA wine bar.

Yelp
Good cocktail bar. Very inventive drinks. The Happy Hour prices on apps are good. Sleek atmosphere and a friendly staff. The bartenders clearly know what they are doing. I had a Pomelo Dour which has a sweet and smoky flavor.

Yelp
This is an incredibly wonderful cocktail lounge, and I wish an Uva was in every city we visit. With an eclectic and all aged crowd, Uva meets the needs of everyone. While the servers are expert mixologists, they have learned how to concentrate on their craft and still converse with the patrons, making all feel welcomed. My vodka Martini was enhanced with just a touch of lemon oil. Who knew? However, this lemon oil made all the difference. Lilly, explained this with patience and charm to me, without an ounce of condescension, even though I was light years older than most of the people in the bar. It made me feel welcomed, and we both want to return to Uva, perhaps Vancouver's best cocktail lounge.
google avatar

Kaylene F.

Yelp
I stopped by for a few drinks before dinner. The atmosphere was relaxing and the staff was extremely attentive. I can't say everything good things about Uva.
google avatar

Elizabeth C.

Yelp
Uva is a wonderful spot for grabbing top notch cocktails with a few good friends. The vibe is intimate, and is on the fancier side but still chill. The staff is ridiculously nice and the night we were there, there was an awesome jazz trio playing! The cocktails here are wonderful, and they really have something for everyone's tastes. This would also be a great place to go out of your comfort zone and try something you wouldn't usually go for--the bartenders here are so skilled that they make more intimidating liquors make sense. You are in good hands here.
google avatar

Leeann M.

Yelp
Uva is attached to Moda (a hotel) providing easy morning access to a variety of coffees and a select few breakfast options. Not a whole lot of food selections - but hey - it's a wine bar by night! What do you expect? I ate here two days in a row thanks to breakfast vouchers provided by the hotel. No wait, casual seating, friendly staff. If staying at Moda and looking for a quick breakfast, eat here. If you desire a big breakfast and lots of options, probably not the place for you.

Yelp
5 out of 5 for being the best in terms of cocktails & 2 out of 5 for food. From what I know is some of their staff is an experienced mixologist and have won for being the best over the years. I have gone here at least 4+ times and have had the pleasure to have Jazz artists playing while we enjoy sitting at the bar on a Friday night. Their cocktail menu is not a one-page menu (JUST FYI) as it's a few pages for sure just like a book (like 20+ pages i'd say) which really overwhelmed me since there's so many to choose from. I'd say UVA is a place you would wanna go to once you've had dinner as it is simply main on cocktails and any other liquors and that's why I have rated them 2/5 for food.
google avatar

Tim S.

Yelp
Hi all, UVA will be losing it's driving forces this week. Lily is leaving today and Sabrine is leaving Friday. If you can't make it in by Friday, June 29, you may want to go to some other establishments that support artistry and their people. Royal Dinette, Peckinpah, Vij's, bar tocador or anh and chi are a few. I have been a loyal customer of UVA for over 3 years and have brought many people to UVA. But I am moving on as well as most of the staff and other loyal customers. End of an era. Caveat Emptor.

Yelp
ok disclaimer - score should rly be like 3.75 and i'll explain later but just so everyone's clear. went to this cute wine bar with my 2 besties for our monthly girls night. the night started off fine - the bar is..a bar so it's on the smaller side. it wasn't too busy when we got there at 7:30pm but there were basically only like 2-3 tables free. we got seated right away and we hung our coats by the door cuz it was freezing tonight. when we got to the door, we saw that uva was still offering their $25 dineout menu. we confirmed that you get 3 appies with 3 cocktails, which was a good deal we thought. we each ordered a flight - i had the bubbly and my besties both got the italian. i loved my prosecco lol but the other bubblies were nice too. i had a sip of my bestie's bubbly in their flight, which was a rose. i still liked my prosecco better LOL. we ordered way too much food cuz we were so hungry by this point. also half the time we had to guess/refer back to the menu for our food cuz it was pretty dim in there. just fyi. the dineout menu came on a board with the corresponding cocktail in front of the dish it matched with. the first dish was prosciutto e melone - basically prosciutto with melon and tbh i didn't even know that the jelly on the bottom was prosecco based lol. it's prosciutto...nothing rly special. TO NOTE: these dishes were on the small size so...beware? the cocktail, which was called bite the bullet, was decent. 2nd dish was mackerel with chickpeas and cauliflower. i love sour stuff so i liked this dish the most - it was light and vinegary at the same time. cocktail for this was iron brew and it was def strong. p and i didn't like it but s drank it all for the team lol. last but not least, and this dish cant rly be shared but we didnt it anyways, arancini. basically this ball of winter squash stuff - it was good mind you but just hard to share. p and i loved the cocktail for this dish the most - rum around (prbly because i've recently acquired a taste for rum lately lol) now onto the normal menu. we first ordered a cheese board, meatballs and skewers. the cheeseboard was good - the only cheese that i didn't have was blue cheese but both besties liked it so yay! the fig jam was great and i liked the sourdough bread pieces. when we asked for more, they came out warm and toasty frm the kitchen so that was a nice touch. meatballs were rather bland, tho p disagrees, but the tomato sauce that it came in was very good. we were all dipping some of the remaining bread into that sauce when we ate all the meatballs - you do get quick a bit, prbly ~10 bite-sized ones. now the skewers, we got all three to try and tbh i would advise to just order the meat ones (steak and lamb). the focaccia one was....i wouldn't say it's bad but the focaccia was too dry and the mozzarella didn't add much to it. there's also anchovies, which i'm ok with but i didn't feel like it was needed. after this, we decided we should order more food lol so we got a 2nd round of skewers and the burrata. this is where things sorta went a little downhill with service. for the record, i was the only tipsy one cuz i kept hugging p that was sitting beside me and s was like she's tipsy. there was some miscommunication and misunderstanding with our 2nd skewers' order - we wanted only the meat ones but the waitress must have heard wrong or something. so s called her over and told her that, our waitress seemed to be put off by it and said that we can't rly take this back but we can take it off your bill. we agreed to that because well she didn't really give us much options here. there another guy, which we assumed was the mgr, came by and asked us why we didn't like the focaccia skewers and s explained. he then briskly walks away without saying anything and goes to the cashier area to, im assuming here, take the 3 skewers off. after that little drama, our burrata came. the burrata was good - i loved the pumpkin seed and squash crumble salad thing on top of the sourdough. however, this made the sourdough really hard to cut through, even with the steak knife that was given to us. i was finished all my drinks at this point and s was asking if i wanted a 2nd round. so i looked thru the drinks menu to see if they have the empress gin that i liked. the menu said victoria gin but i wasn't sure which one, so i tried to get our waitress but the mgr guy came instead cuz she wasn't around. i asked him abt the gin and he just bluntly answers no and walks off. i was pretty offended by that because normally, there would have been other suggestions made or some follow-up questions at least. all in all, the subpar service didn't really damper our evening but just something that needs to be worked on i guess?

Yelp
Came here for a few drinks, the staff are so nice and the cocktails were amazing. Definitely recommend stopping by for a quick drink! They have a small patio right off the street.

Yelp
Definitely my favourite place for fancy cocktails! Sure, the drinks are pricey and sometimes you are a bit cramped as the place is small, but I'm willing to deal with all that for the amazing concoctions that this place has to offer. This place means business with their strength in alcohol content. A 2 oz tastes like a real 2 oz, not some 2 oz of 7.8345% liquor you get at cheaper places. After all, you do get what you paid for. I have ordered quite a few different drinks from their regular as well as seasonal menus, and I have not yet send anything back. Basically each drink was well-thought out and well-executed. This place has daily deals, as well as happy hour from 2-6 pm. My favourite time to come is Friday after work, as the daily deal is on Woodford Reserve bourbon drinks (old fashioned, manhattan, whiskey sour). Sunday is also a good time to come to enjoy buck-a-shuck. The food is alright - it is sufficient for accompanying bites to your drink (which is the main reason why you're there anyway). I would recommend the risotto arancini, fingering potatoes, and cheese/meat plate. Oh, there is a dessert menu and I liked the tiramisu. A negative point would be, sometimes you wait a while for your order because the bar is also servicing the hotel restaurant next door. However, last time this happened the waitress offered us our drinks on the house.

Yelp
My rating for Uva is for about 3 weeks ago. I've been lazy and haven't posted as regularly as I should have. So now I'm so backlogged and uploading lots of reviews and places from March and April. Ok so this place is called Uva as in "Oooh-Vah". Because I called it "You-Vee-Eh" as in the sun's UVA rays, lol. The staff corrected me politely how to say the name of the bar. Whoops, I felt so embarassed at my dumb mistake, ha. Love this little cozy classy spot. Very friendly professional staff, and I went on a quiet weeknight with a few friends. Highly recommend if you want to go to a place to de-stress after work. Not sure what it's like on weekends but it was nice and quiet on a Wednesday night at 5:30pm with a few other professionals at other tables. What's fun about this place is that if you're a non-alcoholic drinker like me, they can make you a virgin cocktail by you giving them 3 keywords on what you'd like in your drink. eg) I said "sweet, fruity, floral" and they made me an awesome drink on the fly. They made me something with a mix of grapefruit, honey, and chamomile. It tasted wonderful!

Yelp
I stopped by for a glass of wine after a stressful day and was pleasantly surprised by the lovely atmosphere, friendly staff, and extensive selection of wines to choose from. I tasted a few wines and eventually chose a Spanish red blend which was absolutely delicious. My bartender and I had a great conversation and she ended up pouring me 2 more glasses of her favourite wines to try. All of them were great and matched my taste perfectly. I couldn't have asked for a better experience and would highly recommend this cozy and modern wine bar for a date night with someone special or just with yourself!

Yelp
Perfect little spot for an afternoon cocktail or early dinner. They open at 4:00, regardless of what the Yelp listing says. It's an easy walk from The Level apartments. Several small plates like a cheese board, charcuterie, beef carpaccio and more. Also burrata salad, meatballs and a great little burger. There's a nice cocktail and wine list with an experienced wait staff to guide you. There's seating at the bar, cushy chairs or booths. It's a small but cozy place to relax, meet a friend and enjoy a nice glass of wine. It's becoming my favorite Sunday afternoon spot while working in Vancouver!

Yelp
Naturally, on a Thursday night after already consuming fair amounts of alcohol, my best girl and I decided we needed more adult juice. Where do you go on a Thursday night in Vancouver when you're a classy lady and you like your drinks stiff???UVA wine bar! Thursday nights are Whisky night. :D I love Bourbon Whisky drinks, especially a solid Old Fashioned. Whisky night translates to....all top shelf whisky are on special! You can have it anyway you want it. Straight up, mixed in a cocktail, just pick your poison and your formula. I have never had top shelf whiskey before so I took the recommendation of our lovely server. She brought me back a dream in a glass. The smoothest OF I have had to date. Wow! I can down 'em when they are that smooth. This is your official warning. :) This was my first time to UVA, and as we entered I was thrilled with the sexy classiness UVA oozes. I love dimly lit, romantic lounges with modern style and all that swag! The bar is quite large and awesome with tons of bar stool to chill at. Everything is highlighted in deep red and although small, in that long and narrow fashion, this modern bar has fantastic seating arrangements. Initially we selected a couple of cozy couch type chairs with window viewing. How nice to relax and people watch, as the cool breeze through the window brushes across your face. This was our jam for about 30mins until a couple friends crashed and then we choose to move to one of the tables. What a treat that they also have large open air windows for their tables as well. It was the prefect enhancement to already fantastic ambiance on a beautiful spring evening. I hear brunch is beautiful in the morning, when this swanky bar becomes the hotel's (Moda Hotel) hip lunch/brunch joint, with tons of natural light and more of that people watching. We ordered the Charcuterie, cheese plate, the daily pizza, and the marinated olives. For $15 you get three cheeses and a few pieces of bread, with some grapes as a garnish. Charcuterie was lovely with an assortment of locally sourced meats, olives, grainy mustard and bread for $22. I'm not sure when Charcuterie in Vancouver became a meat plate and you now have order a cheese plate as well. It used to be all on one beautiful platter. The Daily pizza was a great price for the size at $15, however the growing trend of poor pizza in Vancouver continues. The pizza was something with sweet pork, but it was lacking in the pork. Lots of greens, but I need meat!! We discussed it at the table and assumed it had to be a minced form of pork. Overall we all agreed it was bland. We finished the evening off with a very nice bottle of wine, definitely over priced. Lol. I'm from the Okanagan and I just don't get how the prices of wine in a restaurant can be so inflated. I know it's everywhere, but some place are definitely worse than others. We had Petales d'Osoyoos Bordeaux Blend. It's about $30 or so in stores. It was $76 at this bar. Yikes! This is a new favorite gem of mine and I will be back to review their happy hour very soon! Happy happy folks, just make sure you check the price on your bottle of wine before you order it.

Yelp
I Love it! Walking around downtown makes you thirsty for yummy cocktails... Personally I like Old Fashion and then I'll venture to something sweeter. Today we sat by the window where the breeze was nice and light, our server was very attentive and she also made a fantastic old fashion and by coincidence it was on their special. My partner decided on rum and coke. They had an impressive amount of specialty liquor which I was happy to try. I would definitely be back, possibly tomorrow...

Yelp
I went here with my girlfriend a bit back on our little bae-cation to van city. We didn't yelp this place, we didn't hear about it, we just stumbled in. The interior is mediocre, looks like something in an airport, and I assumed the drinks would be too. I was wrong. The drinks were absolutely delicious. Just trust your bartenders. They know what they're doing. My girl has a sweet tooth and doesn't know much else about what she likes to drink, and they made something off-menu that was probably the best drink she's ever had. We will be revisiting them next time we travel to Vancouver.

Yelp
Hard, stiff, and romantic. Uva makes a perfect lover. With a hotel upstairs and the Orpheum across the street, this den of libations attracts an intriguing blend of patrons. Rarely a lineup, the high backed comfy chairs by the window are the place to be. Bartenders know their shit no matter your alcohol fetish. Happy endings ensured.
