My trip was cut short due to allergic reaction.
Good things about this condo include that it was steps from the beach, somewhat updated, had pretty countertops, and had new appliances. That’s where the good characteristics of this condo stop.
This was the most disgusting place I have ever stayed. When we entered the dimly lit hallway, we were welcomed by three bags of dirty linens. The hallway was so dark I had to use a flash light to put in the code to check-in. There were crumbs everywhere, food stains on almost every piece of furniture in the living room, carpet stains, a water stain on the wood floor with worse to come the more we cleaned to sit our belongings down. There was dust hanging from the kitchen light fixture, stains on the walls, stains on doors around doorknobs, chipped paint on walls, patio furniture missing feet, and rusted.
In the plaid bedding bedroom: there were tiles used for a recent renovation were in the closet of the bedroom, the closet door was broken and therefore difficult to open, and the windows were dirty and had mold buildup on them. My brother informed me that the hallway bathroom toilet was not properly secured to the floor. There was no liner for this halfway shower.
There is a missing switchplate on the light switch of the laundry closet; because of this, we could see that there is a screw going through a hot wire. This is incredibly dangerous, and I can only hope this gets fixed and not covered up by a switch plate.
The master bedroom was in the best condition in the condo, but there were still many issues. The carpet was stained, the closet door was difficult to open, the blinds had veins missing and many that were there were cracked. The bathroom fan light flickered when used. One of the lamps did not work in this room. I was not a fan of the ‘artwork’ displayed in this room.
The bedroom with the white bedspread was by far the worst room. The room's carpet was stained throughout, one lamp didn’t work, the closet door was broken, the cushion of the chair had stains all over it, stains were on the walls, the window had mold on it and was in general disrepair. I had to use a flashlight to actually look through this room it was so dark. There was also a very notable ordor in this room. I’m unsure if it was mold or from a cat, but am positive it may have been from both. I was supposed to stay in this room, but did not due to it triggering my allergies.
The first call I received from Vacasa had given me hope that my trip wasn’t entirely ruined.
The customer care person said they might be able to get me a half or full refund and find me different accommodations. I understand that it was a car show weekend finding different accommodations that would fit our needs would be unlikely.
Then after speaking to her manager, I was told that a lot of the pictures I sent over were “wear and tear.” While wear and tear does happen over time, if the property has gotten to this point I think the “wear and tear” should be repaired before any guest stays at the property. I was also told that the carpets were the responsibility of the condo owner as their cleaning service doesn’t clean carpets.
I was offered cleaning to come back and a $100 refund.
When I was dissatisfied with this offer, I was offered 10% off my next stay.
Since this is the standard that Vacasa holds: I will never be back.
I wish I could add pictures to this review as a warning to other people.
We left at 8:00 PM on our second night here due to my allergic reaction preventing me from spending more than 15 minutes at a time in the condo. My graduation trip was ruined from staying here.
At a minimum, the Vacasa property I stayed at should not be rented out again until:
-The light switch screw situation has been addressed by a reputable electrician.
-The carpets are cleaned or replaced by a professional.
-Stains on chairs are cleaned.
-The place is fumigated for mold.
