Vaduz Castle is a stunning medieval fortress located in the capital of Liechtenstein, Vaduz. Perched on a hillside, the castle offers breathtaking views of the surrounding Alps and the Rhine Valley. It has been the residence of the princely family of Liechtenstein since the 12th century and continues to serve as their private home today. While the interior is not open to the public, visitors can admire the castle from the outside and enjoy the scenic pathways leading up to it. The hike to Vaduz Castle involves a moderate climb, taking about 20 to 30 minutes from the center of Vaduz. The path is well-maintained, but it does include several flights of steps, approximately 100-150 steps in total, depending on the route taken. The effort is rewarded with panoramic views and a glimpse into the country's rich history. Overall, Vaduz Castle is a must-see for anyone visiting Liechtenstein, combining natural beauty with a touch of medieval charm.

The castle is not open to the public because it is a private residence. Although there are signs to the castle everywhere from the city center. If you want to climb up for 30-40 minutes just to look at the walls and facade, then choose the weather and time of day carefully. I didn't have neither fun nor good photos during the scorching sun:( I hope, you will have more luck…

Visiting Vaduz Castle was somewhat underwhelming. The castle itself is quite impressive from the outside, perched majestically on a mountainside overlooking the town of Vaduz. The view from the top of the mountain is undeniably beautiful, offering a sweeping panorama of the surrounding landscape. However, that's about where the excitement ends. Unfortunately, there is no entry allowed into the castle, which severely limits the experience. As someone who enjoys exploring historical sites, it was disappointing to only be able to view the castle from the outside. Without the ability to explore the interiors, there is little to do besides taking in the view and snapping a few photos. For those specifically interested in the castle itself, the visit might feel like a bit of a waste of time. In summary, while the views from the top are great, if you are primarily interested in the castle, you might find this visit to be lacking. Vaduz Castle is more of a picturesque backdrop than a destination full of activities, so adjust your expectations accordingly.

Vaduz Castle is the palace and official residence of the Prince of Liechtenstein. We visited last July 2024 but unfortunately the castle is not open for public viewing because according to what Ive read it is only open once a year and not suitable for visitors however it is good to visit the environment was good and stunning.

Not much to see here, except a building in a hill as the background to take photo. You can't enter the palace to see it from inside. The good thing is parking is free.

You can't enter the castle, it's a long hike up the hill but can be enjoyable. Just a few meters from the tower is a viewing point with a great view of the city of Vaduz.

The castle is not reachable but the city was nice to visit. The streets have nice art lining the streets. We stayed only a few minutes but may plan another trip to visit the museum.

Beautiful castle and view of the city, but can't go inside to visit.
