3 Best Day Trips From Denver | Condé Nast Traveler

"It's all about the brewskis here, with an array of rotating taps. Start with a flight of tasters and be sure to include the Free Rye'd Hazy Rye IPA, an easy-drinking, golden orange beer with hints of peach, mandarin, and spicy rye. For those looking for something a bit lighter, the brewery also serves up a tasty blonde ale, flavorful kombucha, and a Rose Hard Seltzer brewed with real fruit puree. Stop by the tasting room after skiing or hiking for a brew and mountain views. It's a good après or pre-dinner stop, and it also does growler fills and six packs to-go if you'd rather imbibe in your own accommodation." - Megan Barber

Google
Great atmosphere and amazing variety of beer. Definitely make time to stop by for some drinks. I visited twice during my stay in Vail Village!

Loren G

Google
Cute small space in the village with nice patio seating. Good music & watermelon beer, but deducting star because no wine.

Stephanie S

Google
I tried the lagers and blonde beers in a flight and I liked them all. You can't beat the view either. This is a fun spot. I'll definitely come back.

Google
Vail Brewing Co. in Vail, CO, is a must-visit for craft beer lovers, offering an exceptional lineup of beers in a relaxed, mountain-chic setting. Their range spans from crisp lagers to bold IPAs and smooth stouts, with a rotating selection that keeps things fresh and exciting. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, always ready with recommendations that show their passion for craft brewing.

Google
Nice low key brewery in Vail Village. The Hot Mess and Red Ale are my faves. Definitely worth stopping in for a beer summer or winter!

Sammi

Google
I stopped in here to enjoy a beer with my fiance while visiting the area. We got there a few minutes after it opened but the door was still locked, however we didn't mind waiting a little. The service was friendly and helpful when we got in and helped us choose beers for our flights. It was also pretty reasonably priced. We sat outside with the umbrella and enjoyed the great weather and area. I'd recommend a visit!

Google
Excellent beer. Nice taproom.

Google
A must visit place at Vail. Great local beer. Right at the Solaris Plaza. Great atmosphere.

Yelp
Wish the space was bigger because this place is always packed! Service was great and the atmosphere is beautiful. Gorgeous views of vail mountain/the town.

Yelp
We stopped here when we were visiting the shops. I had searched some breweries & this one had some sours, IPA ands other options that sounded appeasing. When we walked in- we were greeted and even told about what the staples are as well as the newer additions. We had our kids with us & they offered soda options and a few snacks for purchase. I got a flight & ended up taking the Jam Session Sour home in a crowler. It was very tasty! They offer outdoor seating as well as indoor. They do have small snacks (pretzels & chips) for purchase. They even have some board games to play. My husband tried 4 different IPAs and wasn't a fan- but said they were okay. I enjoyed the Watermelon Kolsch too! Stop in if your in Vail for some good brews to try. They are a pretty chill place to get a beer & just relax for a bit.

Yelp
Cute ambiance! Delicious Mexican food truck. Loved the non-alcoholic options. The pretzel snacks were delicious.
google avatar

Yelp
A great place to sit and have a beer. Several beers on tap. Also seltzers and other drinks available. Chill music playing the background, quiet enough to make it easy to talk with friends sitting around a table. And grab some cans to take with you. Easily located in Vail - walkable or off the free shuttle.
google avatar

Liz J.

Yelp
Popped in for a quick drink. Quick service with several beer options. We were a little disappointed they didn't have a full menu of food, but they had pretzels to snack on. I enjoyed the fact that they had games, my fiancé and I ended up playing Yahtzee. I'd go back if I'm ever in the area again.

Yelp
My buddy and I had a fun evening hanging out here at Vail Brewing Company. Whenever I travel to a new town I like to check out the local craft beer scene. Vail Brewing Co. is an independent and small batch brewery that is located in the heart of Vail Village. We were staying nearby and enjoyed the warmth this place had to offer on a cold snowy night. Vail Brewing had about ten beers on tap. Ales are my usual go-to and I got the Riva Red Ale. My buddy can't have beer, but they had hard seltzer and kombucha as optional choices. There isn't any food here, but you can buy some snacks like chips or pretzels at the bar. Occasionally they will have a food truck outside. Customer service was great and the atmosphere super chill with a light crowd. This place is pet friendly and they have lots of merch on-hand too. Great find!
google avatar

Magz B.

Yelp
This place is so cool. The beer is a huge bonus. With great brews, you can enjoy the mountains even more. It's a perfect spot for a drink!

Yelp
Great beers, great service, great food to munch on and great merch! My husband and I are avid brewery hoppers and looked up breweries to check out in Vail and found this beautiful place. I couldn't pick just 1 beer so I got a cute flight of 4 to see what I would want as a full pour. They have a delicious Oktoberfest and a nice blonde, however my favorite was the fruited hazy IPA. I am just getting in to IPAs slowly and this one is a great gateway. Not too hopping and has a smooth flavor. I finally committed to a full pour after my flight. They have a bunch of merch and I fell in love with the hoodie. I had to get it. A bit pricey, but it is Vail Brewing, so worth it. They have tons of shirts, hats/beanies, hoodies, etc to pick from. I did forget to get a sticker for the beer fridge though, whoops. They have these little containers of different flavored pretzels at the counter and we tried the Dill Ranch flavor and they are totally addicting! We also got the herb one but it wasn't as good at the dill ranch. I took a photo so I can order more of those. Great snack for a brewery! The service was also great! The guys working the counter were super awesome and quick to clean tables to get new people in. They have a nice patio overlooking what will be the ice skating rink in the winter. Great view and fun vibe. I love this place!

Yelp
Vail Brewing Co is located in the heart of Vail Village. There is mostly indoor seating but some outdoor seating as well. They have board games to play while sipping a brew with your pals.
google avatar

Maureen B.

Yelp
We tried to go but parking was so expensive.. only the rich in Vail . Not worth the trip
google avatar

Amy D.

Yelp
Fun, welcoming, inviting! Great stop for a couple of delicious local beers. We stopped in for a quick beer before dinner and we had a great time. Fun crowd (everyone sharing tables & chairs) and the staff were so nice and helpful.
google avatar

Asenath N.

Yelp
Great places to get a beer. They have a large selection. Love the atmosphere and the guy working was friendly. They do not serve food which is a bummer. They do have snacks like Chips for purchase. I gave a 4 star because the food situation. I will come back for a beer.
google avatar

Pete V.

Yelp
We visited Vail Brewing during Octoberfest and had the privilege of enjoying some of their delicious IPAs. I tried the "Thug Life," which was a hoppy West Coast IPA and very balanced, not too bitter. Also, tried the Pete's Stash pale ale, which was a nice lower ABV session type ale. It was actually a bit more bitter than the Thug Life, but went down smooth and very tasty for a pale ale. It's nice that they have a small outside patio, but too bad they only offer chips and no appetizers or substantial food.
google avatar

Mary E.

Yelp
Super fun place to stop into if you love craft beer and happen to be staying in Vail. The inside is smaller, but on a week night we didn't find it to be too crowded. We loved sampling their IPA (Sun Chaser was my favorite) and playing Jenga. Chill atmosphere with good beers.

Kent K.

Yelp
Hot Mess Blonde. That's the review. Not a need to try anything else. Fell in love with this beer on our trip this summer

Shawn M.

Yelp
Moderate beer but great service. Had a flight of their IPA's and a sour. Sour was better.
google avatar

Erica E.

Yelp
Great little brewery with a decent selection of beers. We got the Jam Session sour and it did not disappoint. Tasted like berries and had the perfect amount of sour. We sat outside as did everyone else, since the weather was 60 and gorgeous. Would definitely recommend!
google avatar

Jennifer H.

Yelp
Fun place. Their hazy IPA "Limited Visibility" was super good. Just snacks, no food though.
google avatar

Yelp
What a fun place! I went on a Monday when it wasn't too busy. I happened to arrive just before they started playing Monday night Bingo. The food they serve there is from the menu at Bol downstairs. There is someone who comes to your table to take your food order, though for drinks, you need to order at the bar. I ordered the Dagwood, which is a sandwich with hummus and roasted sweet potato and beet. It was very flavorful. It was served with a ton of edamame. To drink, I ordered a flight of beer with their Pinot noir, their wheat beer, and their sour beer. All three were very good. I ordered a kombucha too, which tasted more on the vinegary side. Then the bingo started and I won the first round! For a prize, you could choose between bar swag (tshirts and such), but I opted for the free beer token and ordered a full size of the sour beer.

Yelp
After walking around the village we really wanted a beer and found this place calling our name from the Solaris Residences complex. We walked in and found it to be rather happening with lots of happy people enjoying a beer and some games. We ordered up a couple of unique beers and found them both to be pretty dang good. I had the Pumpkin Chai beer and my wife one of the beer/wine hybrids. They also seem to be teamed up with a neighboring restaurant so you could also grab a bite to eat to enjoy with your beer. Only feedback I would offer, get the girl some help! The lady running the taproom was often times overloaded which seemed to frustrate some of the patrons. Relax, have a beer.

J W.

Yelp
Great spot for beer after a day of fun on Vail mountain. Bar tenders were accommodating and knowledgeable.
google avatar

Ericka S.

Yelp
Friendly service! You can taste before you try/commit, but everything is great! While there is no food, there are chips for purchase. You are free to bring your own food and order in. There's a big screen with a projector that shows games and other great stuff. This place is kiddo friendly too. There's a la croix menu if you need a non-alcoholic drink (or need to sober up!). Great spot convenient location from the billiard center. The only con is that the bathroom is outside & down the stairs...
google avatar

Yelp
Vail Brewing Company is such a wonderful spot to grab a drink! They have lots of indoor seating with some outdoor space as well. The atmosphere is really comfortable and clean. They have a bunch of different beer options to choose from and I enjoyed them all! They had some more traditional options like your classic ipas but they also had some other interesting beers with unique flavors. They also have funny and witty names for their beers. I especially liked that they had kombucha. You're able to try it as part of your flight. I recommend trying a bunch of different beers and enjoying while playing a game. They have a bunch of them that you can borrow at your table.
google avatar

Holly C.

Yelp
I love this place! It is on the top floor of Solaris. A must stop whenever I'm in Vail. The beer was delicious and oh so fresh. Nice atmosphere. Good music, although it was crammed when a band showed up last time. They didn't really have a dedicated space for a band, like most breweries. No food. Just beer, but that's ok. Lots of food options nearby. The Tourist Trap IPA was very good. But if they have the Wicked Smaaht Juice, get that. Amazing. And it will make you wicked smaaht. I promise. :)

Yelp
We weren't skiing one of the days in Vail, so we spent part of the day tasting beers and hanging out at Vail Brewing. I really enjoyed the beers especially Pete's Stash Ale and one of the hazy IPA's they had on tap. They have a bar area for about 10 people and a few big tables inside along with patio seating. It's right by the village, so convenient to everything. The bartender was also very social and easy to talk to and everyone in there was really nice.
google avatar

Lindsey R.

Yelp
Yum! The beers here are by far my favorite Colorado craft beers. The blonde coffee "morning after" blows my mind! I love coffee and beer but all the coffee beers are a dark heavy stout...except this one. Wow who knew a blonde coffee beer would be so damn good?! It's my fav. The seltzers have been super delicious and I can't wait to see what flavor profile they come up with next. Love the hazy IPA "contact high" as well. You honestly can't go wrong. The beers just have a pizazz and flavor that stands out from other brewers.
google avatar

Matt C.

Yelp
Had a really great time up in the mountains here. I drank two pints of their great lager. The location is perfect, right in Vail Town Center. They were a bit crammed and busy but it was worth it anyway just to be here. Fun times. This location is in the main Vail Village.

Yelp
Place is adorable and Beer was great! Service was eh.. bartender was not friendly. Which is unusual for most brewing companies.
google avatar

Mike P.

Yelp
Full disclosure: a friend of mine is one of the owners. That being said I love Vail Brewing Company. It's been a few years since I've made the drive out to Vail, and I'm the mean time they've opened a tap room in Vail Village. Honestly, I prefer the brewery vibe better, but this joint still serves up great beer. When in vail, check out VBC and have some great beers. My favorite is the Tourist Trap DIPA.
google avatar

Jake W.

Yelp
Absolutely the best beer in the valley. I will wager to say the best beer in the Rocky Mountains. Their hazy IPAs are to die for. The staff is great all locally owned and operated. Pop out in for a beer and tell them Mayor Wolf sent you.
google avatar

Dan M.

Yelp
I'll be generous, but there wasn't much atmosphere or character here. Just ... nothing. Know what I mean? Too mainstream and in the middle of it all. It's entirely possible I visited at the wrong time.
google avatar

Joe V.

Yelp
Laid back bar on top floor(steps required). They have some cool IPA's and a variety based on your taste. I ordered the Hefe and it was a lighter German . See Tip- order beer at bar / run tab or settle up. Food service run by BOL. I would've be in a hurry. My server was very nice, but absent, and it wasn't busy. It appeared she might be working upstairs and somewhere else? I ordered the Eaton Ranch w/ fries $23. It was cooked to order and had a great flavor. Fries could have been hotter(meaning they were almost cold) due to food run. My recommendation is to come for some Appetizers and .... cheers‼

Yelp
Great place for an above and beyond quality beer. I found that VBC was way beyond my expectations for a brewery in Eagle / Vail. They are top notch and I really enjoyed the beer and the atmosphere. On the negative side, is you have to be careful about where your going to park your car as the private parking can easily charge you more for parking than the cost of quite a few beers. That said, I like this venue, but I preferred going to the main brewery that's just 5 miles away; that is if your driving.

Debbie M.

Yelp
Excellent beer, fantastic service. Tried multiple beers, IPA's were particularly delicious. Two thumbs up!
google avatar

T M.

Yelp
Nice atmosphere with outdoor seating ... good brews and friendly service. Offer snacks.
google avatar

Jamie J.

Yelp
This is no offense to the area, but Vail isn't quite my cup of tea or speed so I was thankful to find this brewery nearby. Honestly, it provided an escape for my wife and I as well as a tasty beverage. The beertender was awesome - so laid back and fun which is exactly what we hope to find in a brewery. Overall, we enjoyed the vibe, beer, and experience.
google avatar

Vanessa S.

Yelp
We got to VBC at 11:34 am. Door was open so we assumed we could go in to purchase beer to go. The lady at the counter was still opening the register, we asked where the restroom were and she directed us to a sign at the door. We are not from vail, we were driving through going home after a lovely weekend with my dad for fathers. Never been to Colorado and every place I had been to has been very kind and welcoming. The server thought opening umbrellas were more important than selling us been. We wanted to do a transaction and go, she said she wasn't going to be ready for another 15 min when we arrived. Please change the operating hours if you're not open at 11 am. And the beer is 9/10
google avatar

Janet E.

Yelp
We made a quick stop here to try some of their beer. Thankfully they offer flights here which the boyfriend really enjoyed. It was a nice sunny day and they offered both inside and outside seating. We took in the sights and sunshine sitting at one of their tables outside. The place loses a star because they don't offer any public bathrooms.
google avatar

Yelp
Vail needs craft beer and Vail Brewing (appropriately named) is where you can get it. The brewery fits well into the towns vibes. It's craftily decorated with skiing and snowboarding and wood paneling. It's got TVs and plenty of places to sit inside and outside, including a chair lift bench! The beer is good. It's a must try for craft beer lovers and drinkers. A trip to Vail would be incomplete without stopping in! I'm not saying it's the best beer in the state (it's Colorado we're talking about) but it a definitely great! They have some staples they have on draft all the time and they will cycle in some variations and some new brews every so often. Prices are good and their brewery swag is on point. Definitely some souvenirs in there!!
google avatar

Lindsay K.

Yelp
Stopped here on vacation with my husband and parents. We loved the Deck Daze Wheat and Hot mess blonde. Nice patio seating, friendly staff, clean, and nice atmosphere. I recommend coming here to have a beer and take in the scenery.
google avatar

Art G.

Yelp
Found Vail brewing after cruising the village. Good selection of beer and nice space overlooking the ice rink. The stout was very tasty and worth returning for!
google avatar

Derek M.

Yelp
The atmosphere and the beer was great. The bartender was absolutely miserable which was a turn off. This was at 2:45pm on 2/3/22. We were a party of 3: #1 ordered a beer flight, #2 ordered a beer flight, when #3 ordered his beer flight, the bartender said very matter of factly, sorry, we don't have any more containers to put the beer flights in. Effectively, that there were no more beer flights available. #3 suggested, how about if I just carry the 4 flight glasses individually, to which the bartender jolted and sneered. Her mannerisms, tone, and lack of courtesy were irritating and even offensive. In a town of mostly tourists, including us, I would've expected hospitable service.
google avatar

Steve L.

Yelp
Good beer. Great views. Cozy. Good service. Fair pricing. Enjoyed the stop. Recommend it.
google avatar

Travis S.

Yelp
It is my wife and I first time in Vail. We are both beer lovers and when we heard there was a brewery less then a 5 min walk from our hotel needless to say we were very excited. We stopped in and met the bartenders Kevin, Corbin and Arturo. Not only did they have an incredible knowledge of the beer but they had us laughing constantly. They were both very funny and could hold a conversation. We tried all the beers on the menu. I must say all of them were awesome. Each one so different from the other with great flavors. If you are in Vail I highly recommend you stop in for a great beer and a laugh.

Rachel J.

Yelp
Great beer, chill atmosphere, awesome music selection & Rocky Mountain Taco truck outside. Spent a week in Vail and have visited this Brewery 4 times - getting taco's or burritos each time!
google avatar

Kaleigh R.

Yelp
LOVE! Their spot in Vail village is a great spot to grab quick beers but there place right outside of down is where the locals go! They have an awesome taco truck at their main location that makes for the perfect combination with there beer!
google avatar

Tee L.

Yelp
This beer was so good, had me wishing I could take this entire place back home with me to Chicago. The Hazy is a must have, service was great. Our waitress was very professional and conversational, so was the 'guy' sitting at the counter. We felt welcomed and even took a 6-pack of the IPA's home. This little community share bathrooms, so be ready for a lil bit of a walk, and don't wait until the last minute to go.
