A short walk behind the grand statues of Heroes' Square is a surprising and delightful place: Vajdahunyad Castle. It's a wonderful, almost storybook-like location, and unlike a true fortress, it feels more like an open-air museum of architectural styles. The castle is a fascinating sight because it’s not a single, cohesive building. It’s a mix of different architectural styles, with parts of it modeled after famous buildings from various parts of Hungary. You can see Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque elements all seamlessly blended together. It's a truly unique and beautiful place to explore. We were lucky to visit during a holiday, and the atmosphere was fantastic. The highlight for us was the medieval stand for play. It was a fun and unexpected addition to the visit, with people in costumes and games that added a sense of excitement and history to the beautiful setting. It’s a great example of how this castle brings the past to life. Vajdahunyad Castle is a wonderful place to walk around, take photos, and simply enjoy the peaceful park setting. It offers a great mix of history, architecture, and a fun atmosphere, making it a highly recommended stop right next to Heroes' Square.

It's not very big but it's the most beautiful castle in Budapest surrounded by large garden with lush greenery and even lake with ducks frolicking around. Many blueberries plants just front of the castle. Can really relax here and enjoy the scenery for whole day. But the castle main entrance has very old wooden gate hanging precariously showing all the sharp planks which looks scary as if will fall on to you when you walk below it.

We only enjoyed the outside of it whilst having a walk trough the park but was worth seeing. The lake side has the better views and if you keep walking past the lake side and ‘back bridge’ you’ll find the miniature Dracula who reminded us a lot of the character from Hotel Transylvania!

A picturesque spot surrounded by lots of greenery. The castle has a beautiful historic charm, but it's best enjoyed if you're into architecture and old buildings. Peaceful walk, great for photos!

Can walk around the outside and admire the views and buildings for free. Well worth a visit. There's an elevator on one side to take you to the top too.

Very interesting place. Recommend to see on your visit. Modeled after Dracula's castle. The original structure was built in the latter part of the 1800's of temporary cardboard and wood to celebrate the 1000 year birthday.

I visited Vajdahunyad Castle and, to be honest, I wasn’t particularly impressed by its exterior. While there are some beautiful architectural elements, overall it felt a bit neglected compared to many of Budapest’s other attractions. I didn’t go inside, only walked around the outside, so I can’t comment on the interior. That said, it’s still a nice spot for a short stroll or photos if you’re in the City Park area

Gorgeous castle with stunning gardens. Chapel was open and very nice. You can make a donation and light a candle. Very interesting history.
