Val di Luce Spa Resort

"The ski-friendly Val di Luce in the Apennines stays true to its storybook mountain setting with materials like pine and travertine used throughout the public rooms, library, and lounge bar. Yet the resort still pulls off a fresh design that’s more sophisticated than rustic. The 77 rooms and suites, comfortable and contemporary with fluffy duvets and subdued plaid carpeting that breaks up the neutral tones, range in size from slightly cramped classic doubles to very spacious family suites that sleep four to six, many with well-equipped kitchens. Every room, however, has a balcony with mountain vistas, and bathrooms, while small, are attractively done in pine and marble. Though the Tuscan restaurant is pleasant and reasonable, the real treat here is the large and wonderful spa with several pools and a long list of sybaritic treatments. The dormered architecture of the resort curves around a central mini-version of I. M. Pei’s glass pyramid at the Louvre, and inside it is the spa’s crystal pool, from which you can gaze at mountain views or a starry night."

Definitely not a 4 stars and absolutely over expensive for what you get. |No brochure in our room neither glasses for the mini bar nor hot water boiler and the hair dryer was not working in the bathroom|Food is mediocre both for dinner and breakfast.

Booked a room in November 2023 for my partner’s birthday in March 2024. At the last minute the hotel contacted me to say they were closing the winter season earlier that year and were cancelling my booking. It’s now August and I still haven’t even received a refund. Do I have to wait until the winter?

We had stayed here before and this time booked to stay for Easter 2024.||We find out from local friends val di luce spa have decided to close on the 17th March. No notification until today to us though!||Reason..'avverse weather conditions' it is snowing and it is a ski resort

This hotel will never get an excellent from me due to a few fatal flaws. For such a high standard (and cost) of hotel I would have expected a few “better” services. There is a fully fitted kitchen in the room with no crockery, kettle etc, so you can’t even make a warm drink after a day skiing. In ALL of the hotels I’ve ever stayed in (from 2-5 star), they have all had kettles and tea making facilities in the rooms despite which country they’ve been in. |There was no information pack in the rooms (like you find in most hotels). Not even a book with a bar menu, etc. Ski hire, ski lift, where to go walking etc would be so handy to have to hand, so you can make an informed decision without having to trek out in the snow to three different stores to find the details. |The spa was lovely, however, I don’t think it was worth €20 each to use it and for only a 3 hour time slot. This was badly publicised on booking.com that it was this cost, and we didn’t find out until after we’d booked the room. For such a high quality hotel, and for the price paid, I wouldn’t expect (and I’ve never had to pay a supplementary rate) to pay to use the basic facilities. I would totally expect to pay for treatments but not to just use the hotel pool. |Service was alright, however, when we turned up to book in at 2pm, our room wasn’t even ready (even though check out is 10am in the morning). The room they checked us into instead had the TV missing which no one could understand where it has gone (maybe the previous tenant was recouping their €20 for the spa 😂). So eventually after a bit of too-Ing and fro-ing we got put into our original room after it was rushed to be finished (unfortunately they missed the chewing gum which was stuck to the recess by the bed where the phone was located).|The general surroundings were nice and comfortable and the room was furnished nicely. I enjoyed our stay, but I don’t think we’d make the trip back as I didn’t really see true value for money.

We spent a great time here at the Val di Luce Spa. The rooms were beautiful and big. There is a swimming pool inside a pyramid, which was surprising. In the winter season you are able to easily ski right to the lift without removing your skies.

The hotel is comfortable and has an excellent service. The rooms are very spacious and clean. The slopes are very near and our kids loved them. The breakfast is good. ||||I would recomend it! For a family plan is perfect! They have their own skii rental and a shuttle that takes you to the slopes in case you don’t want to walk. They also have a discount rate with the skii school.

Beautiful location but poor hotel and terrible service. I’m very well travelled and I would never recommend this hotel to anyone now. Firstly the staff are not well trained, no personal service and attention to detail. Very bad internet and they don’t care, in fact any feedback they don’t want to know. Gym is basic but very hot with no air conditioning. Booked a ski lesson for the morning and despite turning up in reception an hour early to get ready, I was late because they don’t give you any directions or informattion pack on where to go, just terrible, we walked everywhere and kept asking.||||If you want to use the sauna, steam and small pool it costs 20 euros each for basics facilities with children running around - my gym at home is better! Breakfast buffet is just the worse!! Cheap horrible quality food and lack of choice - Avoid! ||||Dinner is 3 star - I’d recommend eating out. The staff are too laid back and some come across lazy. ||Rooms basic, such a shame to have to write all this but it’s the truth. However, location is stunning but for the cost, I would look elsewhere.

This is a functional hotel, the management run it their way, but there is no guest ||experience what so ever, service is very poor, the reception staff are badly trained. ||||The beds are uncomfortable so we have all slept poor, awful mattress and pillows. Be prepared to come back to your room in the evening to discover no toilet paper and tissues, we had to call reception to ask for more. There is no complimentary water in the room, you have to pay. There are no tea and coffee making facilities either which was a real shame. ||||We were on half board (dinner), on the 3rd night we discover the poor quality salad and dessert station we have been having which we assumed would be included in the half board meal supplement, you have to pay extra, it's not included.||||We were here for New Years Eve, 6 course meal starting at 9pm, the food was poor quality overall and took forever to be served, and the last order was being served just after midnight! Cheap sparkling wine was the only drink we were given to toast the new year, despite paying an additional supplement for this evening. Not enough staff and they don't look happy. ||||Internet is very poor quality, so expect to be without wi-fi often. Their response is we are in the mountains so we have bad internet, say no more. ||||The gym is around 20 - 25 degrees heat, you will be hot just entering, no AC. In fact the hotel is just hot generally. The food is below average. They charge 20 euros each to use the pools, sauna and steam surrounded by children. Even if you book a 90 euro spa treament, you still have to pay to use the sauna before. ||||Great location, but choose another hotel to stay.
