This 119-mile Hiking Trail Crosses 3 Countries — and Some of Europe’s Most Untouched Scenery

"Reached via the popular and strenuous Theth–Valbona route, this high pass is the reward after a steep, heat-baked ascent that can include temperatures in the mid-90s and even nearby wildfires. Hikers described rising through dark forests to emerge onto a “dazzling” pass, then negotiating a long descent where horses commonly bear other walkers’ bags, and finally crossing a dried-up riverbed full of rocks to reach a valley guesthouse—where wine and freshly caught trout restored spirits after the day’s exertions." - Clodagh Kinsella

Difficult walk, but very rewarding. Beautiful trail and landscape to walk through up and down. And quickly spotted a brown bear with a cub, so beautiful ❤️

One of the difficult parts of the POB trail. Conquering it after losing path in the jungle & finally reached to Valbona from Theth. A lovely doggy guided us to get the right direction back & accompanied all along the trail to Valbona.

Recommend doing the trail from Valbona to Theth. Don't hesitate to spend 1-2 days in each village. Search, ask, explore.

We started our 1 day “pass tour” from Valbona Valley and for about 2-3 hours we were at the top. First of all it was a foggy day so we weren’t able to see mor than couple of meters away but anyway we had a lot of fun during the trip! At the top you literally can see both Valbona Valley National Park and Theth National Park from the very same spot. If you want you can climb Maja e Valbonës for more adventure... and sure, you can see Maja e Jezercës from there. After e short time of rest we continued our trip to Theth and for and for about 3 hours we arrived at our guesthouse. The rain got us at our 3 hour path to Theth but it was an amazing experience! If you want to find yourself and peace in you... try Valbona Pass, if you want to feel connected with the nature try Valbona Pass, if you want a lifelong memory try Valbona Pass! I’ve done it many times and will do it many, many more times!

We completed the walk in around 6 hours from Valbona to Theth. There are to coffee stops on the way and lots of people walking along the path too.

Views from Valbona Valley and Theth Valley . Not very hard climbing , buuut not easy at all . Little bit dangerous in some specific parts . Right in the middle of Albanian Alps . Height is 1770 m over sea level . Worthy to visit because an unbelievable nature connection.

Really nice walk from Theth. We needed approx. 2,5 hours to get to the pass from Theth. The way back 2 hours. You have a fascinating view to both sides: Valbona and Theth. We can highly recommend the tour - even when you are not crossing the pass and going back to Theth. To cross from Valbona over the pass to Theth takes about 7-8 hours (depending on your condition).

Amazing hike! But if you have time you need to make it to the Valbona peak, so worth it!
