Valle de Mai is a breathtaking nature reserve and a must-visit for anyone traveling to Praslin, Seychelles. Walking through this UNESCO World Heritage Site feels like stepping back in time—towering palm trees, lush greenery, and the famous Coco de Mer palms create an enchanting atmosphere. The trails are well-marked and suitable for all fitness levels, making it easy to explore at your own pace. Along the way, you might spot the rare black parrot and other unique wildlife. The guided tours provide fascinating insights into the ecosystem, adding even more depth to the experience. The sheer tranquility of this place is incredible. Whether you're a nature lover, a photographer, or just someone looking for a peaceful escape, Valle de Mai is pure magic. Highly recommended!

A prehistoric forest with amazing vegetation. The largest palm Coco de mer population in the world. The entrance fee is 450 rupees, but it is recommended to hire a guide to show you the hidden secrets of the forest. The fee they charged us for the guide was 1000 rupees.

This is one of the 2 World Heritage sites of the Seychelles. The other is Aldabra island which is hundreds of km away and hardly visited. The Vallee de Mai is well worth a trip so DONT skip this. Most large tours will just let you see from the entrance sadly. I paid for a guide Scy1000 to explain in detail the story of coco de mer and she was very good. You can buy a coco de mer with a certificate legally at the museum gift shop too.

It was such a beautiful experience, the coco de mer tree, the history, the way it grows l is just fascinating. It was pouring rain and we had umbrellas but because of the big leaves and the branches, we couldn't feel a drop. It is basically visiting a glimpse of the forest you see all over seychelles. It is definitely to be visited, it's an interesting place❣️

Very educational and worth paying the extra for a guide or you will miss so much. Best place to learn about the Coco de Mer.

After visiting Fond Ferdinand I would have skipped this one. Yes, it’s nice - but besides the coco de mer (which, btw, you have also in Fond Ferdinand) there’s no much to see… after a while, it gets a bit boring. We took the longest trail and we completed in 1,5h at slow pace, stopping to take pictures. Entrance fee 450 rupees it’s very overpriced for what you get.

Really worth a visit. It is really special walking underneath these giants and meeting the local snails, frogs and birds. This is a good activity for a rainy day, as the canopy is so dense, we stayed drie underneath. The paths are well maintained and easy to follow. The gift shop is nice and the toliets are clean. They have a nice little café, but check what they can prepare for you before you order, as they did have a few things that were out of stock on the day that we were there. I would also recommend going early - it gets really busy with large tour groups later in the morning / around lunch time.

Honestly wayyyy too overpriced (450sr), sure, there are some intersting facts about the wildlife of the seychelles, but that‘s pretty much all this park has to offer in my opinion. A sign at the beginning of the park said the long route would take 3 hours, it took us 45 minutes reading most of the signs, and the ones we read just weren‘t readable anymore. Have honestly been on hikes way more beatiful than this in Mahé, would recommend skipping this
