I stayed at Valley Inn in Sioux Falls, SD and unfortunately left behind a personal item — a $100 pillow — after checking out. I called the following evening from Davenport, IA and was advised to call back in the morning so the head housekeeper could check their housekeeping building. I followed those instructions and called around 9:30 AM, but was met with a dismissive receptionist who cut me off mid-sentence, took my phone number, and hung up.||It’s been nearly a week now with zero follow-up. Adding insult to injury, their website contact form doesn't work due to a broken reCAPTCHA, and I’m blocked from accessing their Facebook page. It’s incredibly frustrating to lose a valuable item and be treated as if my concern doesn't matter.||This experience left a very poor impression of Valley Inn’s customer service and accountability. I sincerely hope management takes steps to fix these issues — both the lost item process and the treatment of guests after checkout.

Decent room, clean and close to Falls Park in center of town. Don't forget Dave's Famous BBQ downtown!

Is 0 stars an option? DO NOT RECOMMEND. A family member woke up the next morning with her left arm covered in what we thought were hives. That night we discovered bed bugs. Due to having a voucher from Sanford, we didn’t think to check the reviews, however we should have as this seems to be a common occurrence. When checking out, we informed the staff that they have bed bugs and her response was calmly, “oh no.” She did not seem concerned at all, and you could tell they are used to people informing them of this. We proceeded to wash every belonging we had in our room, and continued to find bed bugs even after. I’m not sure room service is a thing here as we had to ask the staff for a garbage bag to put all of our dirty towels in. The room keys didn’t work on the first attempt to get in, as well as every attempt/day following. When getting new ones from the desk, they stated “the battery must be dying” (referring to the door) but never took any measures to fix it. Even after getting new keys, we had to swipe several times, for several minutes, in order to get the door to finally open. While taking a shower, the water wouldn’t drain… to then discover a giant wad of hair in the drain. Sanford providing a place to stay for families of patients is great, however, I highly encourage you to reconsider and stay somewhere else if you are able.

Lovely, clean, quiet, great bed, awesome shower. Great value and right across the street from Sanford Med Center, in case you are visiting ailing loved ones. The breakfast buffet was limited.

Very clean room. There was enough room for an additional air mattress (we brought our own). The bathroom was clean and there was good hot water. Quiet place. The area feels safe. Next to a hospital. A lot of parking space was available across the street. The air conditioning is cold and quiet. The bed was clean and comfy. Overall a great place.

Rooms are not maintained as well as the should be. Previous visit, we could not get the shower to turn off (handle kept spinning around). This visit there was area where the shower surround was wicking water into the adjacent wall and causing bubbling and mold. Also, when we arrived there was several guys in the parking lot drinking beer, smoking pot, and listening to loud music. It might make me hesitant to bring youth to this hotel. Beds seemed fine. TV worked as it should. Can't remember if room had a refrigerator, but I'm pretty sure there was no microwave (we really had no need for such, so I may have missed it too) Breakfast was ok, but was mainly stuff like hard boiled eggs, juice, and various muffins. There may have been some cereals also.

The room was really spacious and well-maintained. The bed was very comfortable, and I slept really well there. The area where the hotel is located had a good atmosphere, and I felt comfortable walking around the neighborhood.

Yelp
The staff at the Valley Inn tries to help there guests during their stay...The staff recommends restaurants and things to do in the downtown area.

Yelp
Overnight stop on our trek north. Good online price. A little off the freeway and across from the medical center. Check in at one building and rooms are in the building across the parking lot. Clean, quiet and comfortable. Fridge and desk area in room. Cold continental breakfast with toast, cereal, sweet roll, fruit, yogurt and hard boiled eggs. Friendly desk attendant. Good value for the price.

Yelp
I have nothing negative or postive to say about the property itself. The place overall was awful and I was incredibly disappointed. I arrived there with my two small children right around their check-in time and the staff was outside smoking so I had to stand there and wait until she was done. They couldn't accommodate a late check out request due to short maintenance staff. After getting checked in I was directed to the building across the way I got into the first door with my hotel key and was locked out of my hotel room. I called the front desk and the staff said I had to haul me and my kids all the way back down and across the way because she couldn't leave the front desk, which is funny since she was outside smoking when we got there, so I lugged me and my kids and stuff back down where she reset the key and insisted I was doing it wrong. It worked we got in..There was dirty bed linens left in front of the elevators for most of the day. While the room itself was standard the bathroom was disgusting. There was pee on the lid of the toilet seat ON THE LID i am still not even quite sure how that even occurs. There were pubes lining the tile along the bath tub. The next morning I ran out to my car because I forgot something and got locked out of the front door my key wasn't working. All in all Rude Staff and dirty bathrooms. I travel a lot and this is by far one of the worst places I have ever stayed.

Yelp
I arrived around 1am, and the front door was locked so I called in order to figure out which door to go through, and the attendant was EXTREMELY rude and unhelpful and only told me to "go to the side." I have never been here before and there were two buildings so I was unsure of which side she meant. I found the door and checked in, where the attendant continued to be extremely rude. Once we entered our room, I went to the restroom which seems to not have been cleaned because there was hair in the tub and blue residue where you lay your soap in the shower. On the night stand there was sticky residue from what looked like a soda that had been placed there. The cleanliness was not up to par. The beds were firm, which was not horrible, but the pillows were not comfortable at all and after seeing the restroom it made me question how clean everything else was. Upon leaving, the morning attendant was much more friendly. If I had not prepaid and arrived so late, I would have went to a different hotel.

Yelp
You get want you pay for. In this case, I just needed a clean place to lay my head coming off a late flight. Place looks just like the photos on the internet. Breakfast is minimal but adequate. Nice that it is very close to the historical downtown area and not near the mall.

Yelp
Good budget motel! They even have some of the frills you don't find at other budget lodging - Valley Inn has in-room coffee makers with a two different types of caffeinated coffee. I also particularly liked their two-in-one shampoos they have available. The continental breakfast was mostly sugary carbs, but I'm always thankful for any free food options. They also had free coffee in the lobby. I enjoyed our stay. And the location by downtown is convenient.

Yelp
Had a great stay. It's nothing fancy as far as standardized hotel rooms go but it felt clean and comfortable and had everything I needed. Joann, Debbie, and everyone at the front desk were always beyond courteous and helpful. Worth supporting a family owned business!

Yelp
Why are the magnetic key cards STILL a problem after SIX years? Ridiculous! We had problems getting into our building with the key cards and it took 8 (I counted) attempts to get into our room the first time. This speaks to a management group that either doesn't care or is clueless. This place is over-priced, probably because it's near the hospital. The office staff were bored, disinterested, tired, or pissed off and were the least helpful hotel staff I encountered during a 17-day cross-country trip from Washington state to Michigan road trip. The room was adequate and mostly clean and it was quiet. My wife did like that the room had two sinks and the bed was relatively comfy. If I were to return to the area, I would definitely NOT stay here and would choose someplace else.

Yelp
We checked in for two nights. Continental breakfast pretty slim. Came back to room after all day at hospital ending with my brother dying. Found they had just thrown the bed together, not made. Left sink dirty, dirty towels, no clean ones. Glad and hope I never have to come back here.

Yelp
Questionable whether this is actually clean. The chairs in the hallway outside our room were filthy. Room was old and substandard. Pillows horrible. Room inside seemed to be clean but I question what "was there" when there's so little pride of ownership. Night manager was rude in answering a question about WiFi passwords. I would not stay here again.

Yelp
Have had the opportunity to stay here one night and found it to be a very pleasant stay. Starting with the very pleasant person who greeted us upon arrival. Upon entering the room I found it to be very spacious and very clean. The cable TV had over 70 channels. The bathroom was very clean. Air con and heating worked very well although we didn't need any heat. Had to try it to see if it worked. Continental breakfast was a little bit better than the usual places. All in all a very pleasant experience. Would stay here again it needed. Three thumbs up on this one.

Yelp
Gross. This hotel is run down. We stayed 2 nights. First night, we discovered ants on the desk, the toilet seat was not connected to the toilet on one side. It swiveled. The beds are lopsided, one side higher than the other. The pillows were lumpy. My pillow had coffee and mascara still on it. The second day, they replaced the towels, with dirtier towels than the ones they took. When I brought them back out to the maid, she handed me another one with hair on it. I pointed this out and she dug through her stack of towels to grab one that wasn't dirty. Our key card didn't work to get into out room on our second night. The front desk clerk did not look surprised. She got us a new one, but no apology or even a pleasantry. Conveniently across from the hospital is about the only good thing about this place.

Yelp
You get what you pay for in a bigger city. Basic everything. Found hair on the sheets and pubes in the shower. Pretty darn gross but no bugs or crawlies so that's a plus

Yelp
This place was perfectly adequate. Not fancy, but not expensive. Just the right value for me as a single traveler just looking for a clean place that's quiet.

Yelp
Found a frickin bed bug on the carpet base board on the wall. I'll never stay here again. Immediately went to the office to get a refund and check out and the gal working didn't seem surprised at all and wouldn't grant me a refund because apparently only the boss can when he's in. Absolutely terrible! Checked in at 6pm checked out at 10pm

Yelp
So far tonight our toilet has plugged, found about 10 hairs on our comforter and 1 pink toe nail. Absolutely disgusting!

Yelp
THE WORST hotel experience OF MY LIFE. Upon arriving to the hotel, my wife and I discovered that they had lost our reservation. They then offered us the same room for a higher rate. It was late and we were very tired, so we agreed to this new rate. When we got to the room the problems were immediately evident. The light switch did not work. The room smelled like smoke even though it was supposed to be a non-smoking room. The bathroom was DISGUSTING. It had holes in the walls and the floors were filthy. When I tried to turn on the water in the bathroom, the faucet made a horrible sound before spitting out smelly, yellow water which never got even warm. My wife and I decided not to take showers in the morning because it was so disgusting in there. The bed, as we expected, was unclean and uncomfortable. The sheets felt like sandpaper, so we laid out towels on top of the comforter and slept on them instead of getting into that filth. We just wanted to fall asleep and get on the road the next morning, so we tried watching a little TV, but, of course, it did not work. Every single thing that could be wrong with a hotel was wrong with this hotel -- and it was overpriced. Do yourself a favor and stay at ANY OTHER HOTEL.

Yelp
I stayed here for two nights during my stay in Sioux Falls. The service was decent, excellent rooms and friendly hospitable front desk staff. Can't complain, I felt like a royal guest being hosted.

Yelp
Disgusting, amongst several other complaints. My 84 year old grandmother has a walker and needs a handicap accessible room they had one available. The lady said we are right on the corner so I get my grandma out of the car which isn't easy as their parking lot is a joke for a lady with a walker for them to tell me her room is across the parking lot! Well the lot isn't plowed enough for her to make it, so back in the car to drive her around get her and the walker out to get inside a freezing cold room no extra blankets isn't real clean the light switch didn't work when we walked in and you could only get out of the bed on one side as there is a monster recliner in there. 1 vending machine on 2nd floor? I get off the elevator to find a huge clear bag of garbage sitting there full of food cups and containers with old food I'm assuming from people's rooms, it's midnight.. why would there be a big bag of garbage sitting there! Gross all the the way around. They did plow at 1am from 3am so that was convenient as you pay for a room to sleep that's a perfect time to plow.
