Val's Hamburgers

We were visiting friends in St Cloud. My husband went for his morning walk. He walked passed Val's Hamburgers. Because of it's unique look we knew we had to eat there. Our friends highly recommended Val's too. You place your order on a kiosk. Your order number is the last four numbers of your cellphone number. We ordered a double cheeseburger, french fries, a chocolate shake and a banana shake. The banana shake taste like a piece of laffy taffy candy. It is a small space and it was crowded. We received our order in less than 20 minutes. Everything was DELICIOUS!

**Edit to clarify that this sorry, lying business owners rebuttal is comical. There was zero yelling involved (we were literally sitting at the dinner table with our 3 year old…) and there was definitely no “trespass order” issued by the police 😂 although we were threatened by the owner when we called for our refund. The fact that it was even attempted to waste city resources over this matter is a joke by itself** Not sure how this place has 4.7 stars and is as notorious as it is. Most overrated place ever, I’ve never understood the hype but it used to be a decent burger fix at least. Unfortunately tonight’s order will be our last. Fries and shake were pretty good so giving it 1 star for that but the rest was trash. We placed an online order and it said ready in 26 minutes which ended up taking 55 minutes (yes they were busy and that’s totally understandable but then be realistic and considerate with the actual timeline…). The tiny entry was shoulder to shoulder and completely miserable waiting there. But the most disappointing part of all was our order came out completely wrong and was missing several toppings that we paid extra for. The burger patties have also gone downhill and similar to McDonald’s quality and style. Was hung up on multiple times by management who refused to help aside offering us to drive 20 minutes there and back for a refund. And wait 50 more minutes in your cesspool lobby? No thanks…keep your dog food burgers and I’ll happily take my money elsewhere. Just a terrible experience all around…I recommend supporting another local burger joint because it’s guaranteed to be better than the Val’s experience.

The burgers and fries are amazing! The prices, you cannot beat. I do suggest to get at least the double burgers as they are very thin and 2 put together would be one. The fries are incredible. Everything is made to order. If you are looking to sit down, bring camping chairs and have a little picnic in the parking lot. I wish I didn't live so dang far away, this would be a frequently visited burger spot.

Had the opportunity to visit Val's Hamburgers tonight. Very small walk-in ordering area and kitchen. Waited for 15 minutes for 2 double cheeseburgers and fries but was very pleased with the works burger and fries. The fries were perfectly cooked and hot and fresh. The burgers were delicious with tons of flavor. Fried onions, ketchup, mustard, and pickles. Yum. Great prices too. Wish I had room for a milkshake, they looked amazing. Definitely a staple of the community being around since 1959. Will be back next time I'm in St. Cloud.

If you've never been here, it's something you need to try at least once! Very good classic burger with the works can't be beat at this price. Best frys hands down! Plenty of shake flavors, but more like a shake machine, not a blender. Is it a gourmet restaurant? No. It is a unique burger joint, (think hole-in-the-wall) that has been around for generations that is a classic walk up window at amazing prices.

Wife been pushing going here I resisted. But my wife is like the Borg. Resistance is futile. Now i am a believer - best burgers EVER u swear. We drive an hour and a half out of the way for em once a week now.

This place is cool! Super old school but modernish with the order flow. Perfectly simple menu. Might as well be 1960. Its like McDonald's first few yrs edition. When u can smell the onions from the parking area, GO!

It was so good, fresh and fast. There were 8 people in the building when I showed up. I had my food in about 10 min after I ordered. I love every bite. The fries were some of the best I have had in YEARS! So good! The burger was fresh and juicy. 10/10 recommend

Amazing food, It only lasts a few minutes in my family. The people working there are nice and very hard working. The place is always hopping full of customers eager to get their food, everyone is happy to wait because of the quality of the service. The atmosphere feels tight knit and welcoming! edit: Not to mention the prices are very affordable, you can feed yourself for under $10.

I was introduced to Val's a few years ago by a friend while we were on our way up to the cabin. I immediately fell in love and now my husband and I make it a point to stop anytime we are passing through. Their burgers are unassuming but SO FREAKING DELICIOUS. Fries are perfectly crispy and salty. And the milkshakes are a perfect way to finish the meal. And everything is extremely affordable and ready quickly. You can place an order online for pickup and that's the way to go as the interior is pretty small, usually crowded, and standing room only. The staff is always so kind as well! Go to Val's. You won't regret it!

To humble beginnings. I like the ease of ordering on a tablet. The system to pay an receive order is a little funky. Wish you had more space. Good prices and food fit the price.

Nice old fashioned burger place. Limited but consistent menu. Good value. Fast service. Burgers could use a hotter grill for a better sear but decent meat bun and seasonings extremely generous with fry quantity!

I've been going to this restaurant for 30 years. Fries and Shakes are great. Burgers are good but make sure to get a double.

I've been wanting to stop here for years when passing through and today I finally did. Val's did not disappoint! The double burger was delicious, french fries were quality (plus there's a lot of them), and the Butterscotch shake was awesome. So glad I stopped and I will now be stopping again. EXCELLENT

Patties are similar to McDonald's frozen premade patty they use for big macs so not fresh. Fries are ok, tastes like it had buttered popcorn salt on them, tho.

A good dive place. So busy. I recommend ordering ahead. They text you when food is ready. Not a long wait though for how busy they were. No place to eat inside. Yummy shakes. Good burgers and Fries. Can order burgers as singles or doubles.

Good food and decent pricing compared to everything else around. Aaron has great service and makes jokes which makes the overall atmosphere of the tiny corner shop great! Def recommend getting extra salt, it's the special ingredient there:)

Delicious! For a small operation they have online ordering or you can order when you get there. I ordered from the screen when I got there and my food was ready pretty quick. Got the double cheeseburger with regular fries. They give you lots of fries! Burger was tasty and fries were crispy and salty. Overall a great place to stop in St Cloud.

This is one of the best little burger spots in town! Very reasonably priced, you get tons of fries. However, I would say the burgers are quite small.

I would recommend this place to anyone and everyone. The burgers here are fantastic. The fries and shakes are delicious. The service is always polite and helpful. This is a walk up style restaurant and it's old school cool. The food is very affordable so you won't break the bank or feel bad if you order more than you can eat. Don't go to St. Cloud without eating at Val's. I try to eat here as often as I can.

Love that we have couple of good local mom and pops burger joints in town. Val's been around for 62 years and it's still around to serve loyal customers. It's a simple process...call in to order or order online because you can't go in there currently to order. It's a small joint only for pick ups. Get their fries...so good with just enough crunch! We got the Double cheeseburger...fluffy soft bun, thin juicy patties with cheese in between and you add condiments to your liking so we added fried onions, ketchup and pickles. We also got the fish burger. Save room for a good shake...they have a wide variety of delicious creamy milk shakes. We ordered the butterfinger shake...delicious! Don't expect anything gourmet here...it's simple, delicious and nostalgic. Go there to support the business.

Amazing like always, I love getting a burger and fries from here and always bring friends and family who are visiting from out of town. Can't beat $5.23 for a cheeseburger and fries, especially being a college student and I don't typically cook burgers at home. The employees are also always nice and on top of things. Thanks for being awesome!

I remember visiting here with my Grandpa and we would get burgers and mountain dews in his truck. Nothing has changed. Still his favorite place to eat.

Stopped here on the way up North at around 5:30PM. Pretty full in the small space with people waiting for their food. You order at a kiosk on either side. I got a pumpkin pie milkshake and a regular order of fries, which was only about a 5 minute wait. Very delicious, and the fries were hot and greasy; similar taste to McDonalds' fries. Would recommend!

One of the best fast food burgers I've ever had at a price that can't be beat! The special salt they use on the fries is also outstanding! This is a gem of a spot and I can see why it has had such devoted customers for so many years-we would drive an hour from our home to eat here!

The food is very reasonably priced, service is quick, and the ambiance feels like an old time restaurant. I strongly recommend stopping and at least trying once. I recommend a double cheeseburger with fried onions, fries, and a milkshake.

This place is so awesome! I have been going here for over 20 years. It's so convenient to order online and pick up. It's super affordable. You get a lot for your money. The burgers and fries are good. The shakes are delicious. I would highly recommend for a quick on the run meal. Parking can be a little hard if they are busy but that's the only downfall. It is a cute little place that is to go only.

The hamburger is ok. Not great but decent. I wish there were better pickles on the burger. 3 stars. Their fries are awesome. They give you a ton. For 20 cents more they give you a whole extra scoop. 5 stars. Shakes are amazing here. 5 stars. Get large everything. You're getting screwed if you don't pay the extra few cents. 6 stars for service! The girl behind the counter was working her tail off on a busy Sunday afternoon lunch hour and she was so sweet and kind. You can't beat the prices here 5 stars!!

This is the divey-est of fives of hamburger joints. You order via a computer and wait for your number to be called. There is no sitting in the restaurant, but the waiting area is air-conditioned. The menu is small--focusing on the items they do very well. The hamburgers are DELICIOUS! They're in expensive, but not very filling. Buy several or at least the triple.

Found this place by accident, stopped at 2pm & it was Busy. Good burgers & shakes. Giant serving of really good fries. Wish I lived in St Cloud!

What a cool place! Feels like you went back in time! Double CheeseBurger is awesome...get it with the works so ya don't have to mess around...juicy burger and soft bun! I don't know what that seasoning is on the fries but they were excellent and you get plenty!

The best hamburger joint in, dare I say, the world, just ahead of Jacks in Valley Village, CA. Once a St Cloud resident 20 years ago, I will always make it a point to stop by Vals whenever I'm back in town from California. The cheeseburger and fries are so dang good and remind me of how McDonald's food tasted In The 80's when it wasn't over processed like today. I usually order the 2 cheeseburgers and small fries (which is like an xl fries). Sometimes a shake. I am always so happy during this meal. Thank you Vals for not changing and I pray you stay open for years to come.

I just got out of federal prison and I have been craving a hamburger for many years that was did not disappoint

Val's, it's been awhile and I missed you oh so much... Just as greasy as I remember it. I could've done without the mustard on my double cheeseburger ($3) but everything else was marvelous. Their burgers include ketchup, mustard, pickles, and onions so if you don't want one of the toppings, remember to request that. Fries? Still fill up the entire bottom of the bag so trust me, a regular size will be plenty to share ($2). They were perfectly seasoned this time and freshly fried. For all of you coffee lovers, the cappuccino milkshake was excellent. Not too sweet and delectably creamy. Overall, prices have gone up a bit since the last time I was there, but Val's quality food are worth it. I appreciate the "self-serve" electronic ordering system, makes things simple and convenient for customers. Service is speedy fast and yes, there's always customers coming in and out, but you never have to wait for long, so if you are in a rush, Val's has you covered. One thing I wish Val's would get is MAYO. Mayo is my favorite condiment and I'll have to bring my own next time I come in because unfortunately, Val's does not have it as an option for "extra condiments."

This is my favorite place to eat in Saint Cloud the chicken sandwich is one of the best I've ever had and the burger is the only red meat I will eat. If you are in Saint Cloud and want to enjoy what you eat and have the best fries in the world eat here.

Specialize in burgers, fries, & milkshakes. Burgers have the works (pickles, onions, ketchup, mustard), fries are soft, milkshakes came with large bright straw and went down smooth. Old style burger joint, may look a bit worn down, but food is amazing! Cheese on cheeseburger melted perfectly. Can do triple patty. T-shirts available.

Decent, cheap burgers & really good fries at this hole in the wall. You enter to a standing room only lobby, place your order on their self serve kiosks & wait until your # is called. Got a double bacon cheeseburger with the works (ketchup, mustard, pickles & onions) for less than $4. My BF & I ate for less than $12 total. Unless you're a huge fries fan, a regular order will definitely serve 2 people. They're skinny cut fries too, which I'm a big fan of. Didn't get a chance to try their malts but I'm sure we'll go back sometime & grab one at that point n PS- you either eat in the car or get your food to go. No tables.

Awesome vintage hole-in-the-wall burger joint! Totally retro except you place your order on touchscreens which is hilarious cause everything else is is exactly the same way it's been since the 50s. I guess it makes sense since the 50s futuristic dreams were of having robots serve us and take our orders etc. Fries were great, classic shoestring. Milkshake is like if heaven froze over and you could suck it with a straw.

BEST CHEESEBURGER IVE EVER PUT IN MY MOUTH!!! We're on our way up north to go hunting and stopped here for a quick and DELICIOUS lunch, my parents took me here for my first time and i'm definitely going back, i live in becker so thankfully it's not to far away cause tbh i would drive 50 miles just to have lunch here, no downsides except the fry's were just the tiniest bit to salty but they were so good no complaints about the fry's and it was such a big serving we were so full but all the food was finished. the burgers are AMAZING i'm a small girl and can't eat that much but the double burger filled me up (what i mean is that the patties aren't the biggest so i got a double, a big guy would want a triple and a little kid would want a single) the burger was so good and greedy jus the way any normal person would want it!! and the milk shakes are amazing!!!!! 100% GOING BACK HERE

Val's represents everything good about comfort food, and they have been doing it really well for a very long time. Their longevity from a bygone era is a testament to the quality of their food and drinks. I won't lie and suggest they have the best burgers around, but with consideration to price, they're really quite good. If you're a fan of greasy, thin patties, this is your place. I'm practically drooling just writing about them, and I always make sure to get a couple extra to reheat for a second meal. Most people order their meals from terminals inside, adding or omitting the regular fixings. Get fries with your meal because not only are they delicious, fresh, and salty (they use a special seasoning), they also dump quite a bit extra into the bag, which then keeps your sandwiches warm and juicy. Try washing everything down with one of their famous shakes. Although I've never tried them, everyone I've ever talked to says they're fantastic. I don't think there are many locals that don't know about Val's, since they've been pleasing appetites for decades. But if you haven't come here, it's definitely worth a drive. It isn't a sit-down restaurant, so plan on take away or eating in your car. There is really nothing bad to be said at all about Val's. And considering that I've never visited without seeing fellow patrons alongside of me, it's clear they deliver on an excellent, and nostalgic, experience that is sure to leave diners of all ages pleased.

Traveling for work and there weren't a lot of food options but I found Val's on Yelp and oh my gosh it was worth the wait! It's a little bitty place, and it was packed! You order on a screen and then they call your number out. One order of fries is definitely enough for two people to share and they basically just fill the bag over your burger (be prepared for the grease!) make sure you are napkin rich because you'll need them. The burgers, fries, and milkshake were delicious. You should make sure to stop if your nearby!

We called and picked up from window. Adorable so proprietor ship and the food was special. Only have to drive one block off Highway 10 in order to enjoy-- Go by all the chains and make a stop here! We ordered chocolate and butterscotch shakes as well and they were amazing

Food was a bit salty , milk shake was good overall not a bad experience. Good customer service . Parking was a nightmare.
