Value Host Motor Inn

I hate to give this hotel a bad review, but they have just done the unthinkable— cancelled a long-standing reservation leaving us high and dry without a place to stay during a busy tourist weekend. For years we have stayed at this basic but clean motel and have appreciated their value and location. But we just received a cheerful “your reservation has been cancelled” from them for our upcoming stay. I will update this post if the Value Host chain does right by us.

Great location and nice room. Had trouble with the thermostat and getting to a comfortable temperature, but other than that there were no other issues. They had a small breakfast, not a lot of options mostly just packaged food, granola bars and muffins and bagles. Lonely had a view of the storage units next to the motel, but it was located just off the highway and eight next to a grocery store. Some rooms seem to be more updated than others.

The bed was comfy, staff very nice, accomodating. The hotel was clean. Good continental breakfast served. The price was great! I'd stay there again

The hotel is an older property. The room was clean, but the bed spread and furniture are dated. Although the hotel is advertised as non-smoking, the whole place smelled of pot.

Great location, about ~6 minutes from downtown Marquette. Seemed clean. Nice front desk workers. However, our room only got cleaned 1/4 days and only got new towels and wash-cloths 2/4 days. Breakfast includes cereal, coffee/juice, bagels, muffins. But for a cheaper option, it was decent!

I love this motel. All of the staff, every shift is really kind and helpful, including housekeeping. They really make me feel at home here, and this is my favorite motel in Marquette for this reason. The rooms are very comfortable, mini fridge and microwave in every room, comfortable beds, pillows, and great location. Close to shopping and numerous restaurants and activities. I can't say enough about how much I like it here. Highly recommend.

Don’t book with this property!!! Booked this motel through Travelocity for the weekend of August 10th 2024. . Arrived late at night to check in to be greeted by a sign on the door that said closed for renovations. No phone number or email available to get through to a manager or property owner to get my $200 refunded. Travelocity was unable to as well. BAD BUSINESS!!!

Clean, spacious room. Comfortable bed and plenty of parking. Easy access to highway 41 and close to the downtown area. Restaurants close by. Breakfast was basic but coffee & bagel was good. Price was good so we recommend if you need a place to spend the night.

After being told "nobody in town allows cats," another hotel gave us the number for Value Host Motor Inn. No problem at all and we stayed two nights. It was a very basic room with a good sized bath/shower, very quiet A/C system, super central location to lots of Marquette's businesses and recreational areas, and reasonably priced. Really nice people and the breakfast is basic but generous.

Internet is cheeks it seemed like any time I'd try to game I'd start lagging like a Mf, not sure if it's them or someone else messing w my connection

The bed bugs here ruined our snowboarding trip. Do not stay here!! They have been dealing with them for a little bit and "didn't have time" to check our room before we checked in.

I've stayed at this hotel, many times and not had any problems. However, over the past weekend, I found bedbugs. I was able to change rooms and bag my luggage but I still had bites. The management did say they were going to treat the rooms but it's 5 days later...

Came here on a girls trip. It doesn't look like a lot on the website, and I'm afraid of bedbugs so I was slightly nervous. When we got here everything was clean, starting in the lobby, and all the way to our rooms. The sheets were white and cool. I would always take off the cover because hotels in general do not wash them. Floor was clean, and smelled good. Small but perfect for a night or two if you're doing some hiking or exploring. I'm 21 and I definitely noticed a lot of elderly people here, but with it being a girls trip I felt pretty safe under those conditions. No breakfast, but that's the price you pay for a good, clean stay that's only $100.

I only give this hotel 3 stars because of the beds and that they were well used. We arrived late and found a clean room. The deal staff was very friendly. We were originally put in a single queen room, even though our reservation started 3 adults. The clerk was able to quickly solve the issue. The rooms are simple, outdated but sufficientand clean. The wall mounted A/C was not working. Granted it is May and there is still snow on the ground... but I like to have air moving in hotel rooms. We did not go to the free breakfast as I am on a restricted diet, but Jeffrey's is right next door and we walked over. The only reason I would think twice about staying again would be the mattress. Hybrid memory foam mattress with springs aren't expensive and can be shipped in boxes. We bought one off of Wayfair for $300 and it is the most comfortable bed. (King size) For that price they could easily rotate the mattresses out.

Stayed here as we needed a reasonable place to sleep so we could get to the Marquette airport by 5:30am to drop my son off for a trip to Detroit (we live about 150 miles away from Marquette). We had the "Queen Suite" which had two rooms (one with a bed, one with a foldaway). For a basic motel, this was a very good choice. Beds were comfortable and the room served its purpose as a place for us to get a good night's rest. Staff was courteous and also gave us a late check out in case things got "messy" at the airport. We will be back next year!

I just couldn't spend $300 a night for other hotels in Marquette over 4th of July weekend. I found this hotel on expedia for less than $80 a night. The property was very clean we enjoyed our 3 night stay. The only bad thing I have to say is the property manager could not be located. I had an issue with our reservation that couldn't be resolved ultimately costed me a nights stay. The front desk clerk, Natalie, was not helpful, rude and pointed - unwilling to help me get in touch with the owner/manager. If you want a cheap clean place to stay this is a good fit. But, be aware if you have an issue with billing or need a manager the response is unlikely. Based on the simple principle of not being able to talk to a manager I will not be staying here on our next visit this month.

I usually stay here when I'm flying out of Marquette and haven't encountered problems. However, this recent stay wasn't as good. I didn't have hot water for a shower and reported it when I turned in the key. The person at the desk who I believe was the manager offered to move me but by then it was too late and I had to leave. She never offered a discount or anything. I wasn't too pleased when I left. On a better note, the desk clerk on duty when I checked in could not have been nicer.

You are a POS property that doesn't provide any support for our son who moved back to his hometown from Washington State and had his ID stolen on the way. We faxed him a copy of his birth certificate and had asked to have him verify his SSN. We wanted to put a roof over his head until he could get by the Secretary of States office and get a new photo ID. Instead you refuse to provide shelter to him and that will not be forgotten!!!

I thought this place was a fantastic deal. Large rooms, very clean and the air conditioning actually cooled the room to desirable sleeping temperatures. I strongly recommend this for anyone who isn't on their honeymoon or isn't in the Rolling Stones.

I have stayed at a number of hotels in Marquette and Value Host leads them all when you are looking for a clean well kept facility at a reasonable rate. The staff is friendly and the rooms are clean and well maintained. It's location is a close drive to downtown for dinner and sightseeing. There is a nice grocery store across the street. If you are in Marquette be sure to give Value Host a look.

Everything was good besides the complementary breakfast. The breakfast included donuts, juice, toast, and oatmeal. We ended up just going out to get breakfast. If you are going on a trip and you are on a good budget don't stay here because the breakfast isn't the best. Other than that, the hotel was nice and the staff was friendly. I do not have any other complaints other then the breakfast. I would stay here again, but I wouldn't plan on eating breakfast there like I did this past time.

Very comfortable and affordable place! Beds were firm and clean--my family and I got one of our best nights of sleep here. Room was very clean. Breakfast had good, small variety of food (bread, bagels, yogurt, oatmeal, boiled eggs, fresh fruit, etc.). Would recommend for anyone, especially the budget minded traveler! Convenient to downtown by car.

Booked a room for 3 nights via phone, when their calendar thru Trivago showed they had nothing available for a week. Even told whomever I booked the room with that it was advertised on Trivago for $56 a night, and was told I would get that rate when we checked in. Bull. They called that week a "HOLIDAY" because students were moving into NMU. I paid $82.50 a night! Didn't appreciate being led on and then screwed. It also took 45 minutes AFTER check in time for them to clean my room and tell me it was ready. As for their complimentary breakfast, it was toast and powdered sugar or cinnamon sugar donuts. The toast was gone before I got to it. My advice? Spend a bit more and go elsewhere.

Good basic hotel - clean, friendly, and efficient. It is family owned and operated and very reasonably priced. Conveniently located near restaurants and Wal Mart on a main road. They even called 2 days before the stay to confirm the reservation - personal touches make this a nice place to stay for a good night's sleep.

The front desk was pleasant and even reserved a refrigerator for our room for a diabetic traveler before our arrival. We have stayed here before in the past and will be back when in the area. It is near hwy 41 but it is on a hill so we never ever heard the traffic during our stay. The breakfast was a little on the light side but we enjoyed the doughnuts. Highly recommend for a clean, comfortable room.

My husband and I were appalled as we witnessed the female night shift worker treating a young couple very poorly the weekend we took our sons to a baseball tournament. She was harassing and belligerent, even followed them to their room. Take your business elsewhere! I expect more out of a customer service employee. This quiet, respectful couple deserved better- and so do you!
