Van der Valk Hotel Het Arresthuis

We stayed here for just one night at the end of our road trip through Europe, and what a fantastic way to finish our journey! From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed with a glass of cava and friendly staff. The hotel itself is unique. Our room was absolutely fantastic—spacious, beautifully decorated, and incredibly comfortable. We genuinely wished we could have stayed longer. The service throughout was exceptional. The staff went above and beyond, especially since it was our wedding anniversary. They made it feel truly special, and we’re so grateful for their thoughtful gestures. The hotel is also in a great location, right in the heart of the beautiful town of Roermond, with convenient parking at the back of the property.

Room 3/5: I was room 9 Rooms on the ground floor or facing the car park, the sound insulation is very poor. There is also too much light in the morning, as you can see in the picture taken at 7:30am. The curtains are not effective. Personal very polite and professional !!! Very good breakfast !

I totally agree with the majority of the reviews. The Hotel is very beautiful with an excellent location to explore the surroundings on foot. All the staff were professional and kind. The private parking is very useful. Breakfast was delicious. Thank you all so much. I recommend it.

The hotel is original, with thematic little details. The staff is so kind and willing to help. It is located at only 5-minutes walk from the city center. Everything clean and well taken care of. One of the best hotels we have stayed around the world. We will definitely come back!

We had an excellent stay. Hotel is top and the food is even better. The ambiance is felt directly when entering the hotel and the hotel and restaurant team is amazing! No exceptions!

Lovely hotel with a fun theme. Service is excellent and easy private parking onsite. The rooms are a little noisy, but not a big problem. Breakfast is great, but I didn’t eat for dinner as it’s only set menus. It looked good, but if you’re not so hungry, there’s plenty of restaurants in the area.

The hotel is simply magnificent throughout. The staff is always helpful and friendly. The rooms are large and comfortable. What more could you ask for?

The hotel is really good, the location is perfect to visit the town as it is close to everything without having to take the car. The restaurant and the breakfast is just excellent, the staff very friendly and the cleanliness is top. I strongly recommend going there if you go to Roermond.

I never thought that I would pay to spend a night in jail and actually enjoy it! This hotel was recommended by one of my business partners when I was meeting them in the Netherlands. I typically quite conservative when on business travel and prefer to stay at a Hilton or similar. Also, I steer away from "themed" hotels both on business and leisure, but this was one of the only options near the meeting venue so I went with it. The Arresthuis hotel is certainly not one of these tacky themed places, the prison theme is, believe it or not, very stylish. When we arrived around 10pm, I had quite the challenge navigating the pitch dark parking lot, it would have been helpful to have a bit of light. My colleagues and I were disappointed to hear that the restaurant was closed for the night already. However, the receptionist offered to check and gave us a glass of champagne while we were waiting. After less than 5 mins, he came back telling us we were welcome to eat in the bar, but they could only serve steak and fries. Again I was wary since they didn't ask how we wanted our steak cooked. But the steak was cooked beautifully medium rare and it was just what the doctor ordered after a long day. The next day's breakfast was also very good, quite the spread, including free flow bubbles if you wanted! The size of the room was quite impressive, the bed was comfortable and I liked the non-traditional layout. However, I thought the bathroom was too dark which makes make-up in the morning difficult. Actually even my male colleagues commented about the lack of sufficient light in the bathroom area. Overall I liked the atmosphere. The service, rooms and F&B options were good so I would certainly go again when in the area.

Great hotel in a former prison that kept much of the look and turned it into a luxurious and very trendy hotel. I liked the modern Dutch interior design feel to it. The breakfast buffet was great too! Excellent location to explore the city from. Not for people who have a problem with being locked in though cause the windows still have bars.

Thos former prison coverted to a nice, classy, trendy hotel has a great vibe to it. Among many things from food to room service, their staff is an absolutely great team to deal with. They are easy going, flexible, welcoming and fulfil one's request to the best of their ability. Their breakfast, classic european cross country border spread is worth waking up in the morning for! Rooms are spacious enough for european hotel industry standards. Most importantly, the hotel's location is the highlight. City center area has so much to offer in terms of food, Drinks, shopping and bakeries. Loved my one week stay here- if i come back to roermond, i shall definitely conside thos nice little hotel tucked in the middle of the city center area.
