Van der Valk Hotel Luxembourg-Arlon

As Van der Valk hotels go, this one is excellent. It was clearly built to serve as a pit stop. Everything breathes convenience. It caters to the (mainly Dutch) crowds on their way south, or back home. It is not in Luxembourg, but close enough for filling up your car with petrol there. Staff are friendly, very service-oriented and professional. Facilities are good and the room rates are reasonable. The rooms are quiet (practically sound-proof and with proper curtains). Access to the spa is quite expensive. It is a family-friendly hotel. The playroom at the restaurant is particularly well done: young kids can play while their parents can relax and keep an eye on them from the dining/bar area. The restaurant offers a decent and varied menu, if a bit pricey considering what you get. Again, it's about convenience and the kids will not complain. Comically, the entrance to the hotel does not feature a ramp. It means you have to carry your luggage up about 10-15 steps. How about wheelchairs or kids in strollers? If there is a ramp or elevator, it should be indicated more clearly.

Well worth stopping for a few nights. Amazing food/ restaurant. Pool complex was divine... very Scandinavian. Rooms lovely. Staff couldn't do enough. Great restaurant staff and front desk. Be prepared to drag your suitcase up the stairs.

We stayed a night in this hotel on our way to France. We booked a 30 square meter room, due to a baby and a stroller we had. The room given to us was barely 15 square meters and did not even have a stand to put our suitcase on. We informed the staff about this but they did not do anything about it. I understand that the hotel might have been fully booked, so they could not change the room but they seemed not to understand that this was their fault and a problem that happened due to their inaccurate information and made no effort to resolve it. The person who was in charge at the check out even pretended they didn’t know about it even though there was a note on our booking about this issue. We felt we were scammed because we skipped all the cheaper hotels around because we wanted a bigger room, but in the end we paid more (160 euros) for the same size room in a hotel where we did not feel welcome or heard. The place looks impeccably clean on the photos, but in reality it seems that cleaning and maintenance are not done so well. The corridors smell quite alot, perhaps due to many dogs in the hotel. Our bathroom tile grouts were moldy; looked like they had not been properly cleaned for quite some time. The water taps in the shower were also faulty and not maintained. We have been to quite a few Van der Valk hotels in different places and it has always been a good experience, but this particular branch was a very bad experience.

Where shall I start. We ( my Daughter and I ) stayed one night in the Hotel for our Mom-Daughter day. When we entered the hotel we felled already welcome. Checking in , was perfect , a friendly staff member explained everything very well. Our room was clean with a balcony and the toilet was seperated from the bathroom. We went for the wellness and booked a massage ( in advantage) wich was given by 2 lovely ladies who gave us the feeling we where in heaven. Swimmingpool , sauna, all new and very beautiful. We where totaly relaxed after all this and a little hungry so around 19.00 time to go to the restaurant for dinner. Altough it was a full house, the service was professional and we did not have to wait long for our dinner. Compliments for the kitchen staff, the food was great. The next morning when we went for breakfast we had a diffucult choise to make......everything looked so good, and all that we ate tasted great. Overall a great hotel to stay. 😊

Visited the hotel for a romantic weekend. Infrastructure great, food also, and service is really friendly. I have to said that we have paid extra da wellness and this was not the best experience. To many people on it. Noise, kids blocking the jacuzzi for an hour, no place to site or to go and you can not really profite from a wellness moment. We waited one hour and half to have some place to sit or relax but there was so many people that we had an impression of being in a public pool. e decided to leave. All was great in the hotel but the fact we have taken the wellness to relax it was not really a relax moment. Recommend for meetings, restaurant, or a quick slip in but for couples it was not the best experience

We highly recommend it. The room was very large and comfortable, with a shower and bathtub. Great view from the 9th floor. Pet-friendly. The staff was very friendly, and access to the spa area (for an additional fee) is also highly recommended. The breakfast and the restaurant were excellent; we felt very comfortable and had a wide variety of dishes. There was something for everyone. In summary, simply top-notch!

Great hotel! Spacious clean rooms, super friendly staff, and an amazing breakfast — they even serve champagne in the morning! Perfect location near Luxembourg with free parking and EV chargers. Definitely recommend!

I hate leaving bad reviews but this situation is just unacceptable. Firstly, our room is nice with a decent view but smells badly of wet dog - I know the hotel is pet friendly, so I can't really complain. BUT, we booked through hotels.com and no where on their site does it say there is a charge to use the pool. Shows the pool prominently as a feature of the hotel as well as the other wellness ammenities. And it's not just on hotels.com, every external booking site for this hotel shows the extra charge for breakfast but NOT for use of the pool - which you have to book in advance for a 2 hour time slot. €29 per adult and €10 per child. It's obscene. They didn't tell us about this charge when we checked in, we found out as we came downstairs in our bathing suits with 2 small children, only to be told it would cost our family €110 for 2 hours in the pool. Both my kids are crying in the lobby while the staff basically tell me the lack of disclosure of this fee at booking and even at check-in is not their problem. I did some searching and even the hotel's website shows all the wellness ammenities but you need to go fairly deep in the site to see it is not actually included in your room rate. I travel a lot and have stayed at hundreds of hotels and never have I seen one that charges that much for 2 hours in a pool. Do not recommend staying here, even if the hotel is beautiful, and definitely will never stay at a hotel under this brand again.

Nice clean hotel and the staff is friendly. Beautiful decorations. The food in the restaurant is delicious and their breakfast is good too. I only wished that it was a little closer to the city.
