Van der Valk Hotel Luxembourg-Arlon

I stay for 2 nights with my family and from the moment I arrived the staff made me feel welcome and cared for. The room was spotless and beautiful decorated, the bed was so comfortable that me feel like sleeping in my own bed.|The amenities are amazing, the common areas are super comfortable. And the spa was everything I need to relax.

I spoke on the phone with Jeremy, and it was an incredibly pleasant conversation — he was friendly, thoughtful, and showed genuine hospitality. As it was my girlfriend’s birthday, I asked if something special could be arranged in the room. Jeremy took the time to think along with me and even recommended a beautifully renovated room with a lovely view. Thanks to his efforts, we immediately felt warmly welcomed and truly taken care of. As Van der Valk hotels go, this one is excellent. It was clearly built to serve as a pit stop. Everything breathes convenience. It caters to the (mainly Dutch) crowds on their way south, or back home. It is not in Luxembourg, but close enough for filling up your car with petrol there. Staff are friendly, very service-oriented and professional. Facilities are good and the room rates are reasonable. The rooms are quiet (practically sound-proof and with proper curtains). Access to the spa is quite expensive. It is a family-friendly hotel. The playroom at the restaurant is particularly well done: young kids can play while their parents can relax and keep an eye on them from the dining/bar area. The restaurant offers a decent and varied menu, if a bit pricey considering what you get. Again, it's about convenience and the kids will not complain. Comically, the entrance to the hotel does not feature a ramp. It means you have to carry your luggage up about 10-15 steps. How about wheelchairs or kids in strollers? If there is a ramp or elevator, it should be indicated more clearly.

We stayed a night in this hotel on our way to France. We booked a 30 square meter room, due to a baby and a stroller we had. The room given to us was barely 15 square meters and did not even have a stand to put our suitcase on. We informed the staff about this but they did not do anything about it. I understand that the hotel might have been fully booked, so they could not change the room but they seemed not to understand that this was their fault and a problem that happened due to their inaccurate information and made no effort to resolve it. The person who was in charge at the check out even pretended they didn’t know about it even though there was a note on our booking about this issue. We felt we were scammed because we skipped all the cheaper hotels around because we wanted a bigger room, but in the end we paid more (160 euros) for the same size room in a hotel where we did not feel welcome or heard. The place looks impeccably clean on the photos, but in reality it seems that cleaning and maintenance are not done so well. The corridors smell quite alot, perhaps due to many dogs in the hotel. Our bathroom tile grouts were moldy; looked like they had not been properly cleaned for quite some time. The water taps in the shower were also faulty and not maintained. We have been to quite a few Van der Valk hotels in different places and it has always been a good experience, but this particular branch was a very bad experience.

As a guest at a hotel that claims a four-star rating, I expect the standard of housekeeping and general maintenance to be consistently high. My experience was unacceptable. During my stay, I noted several significant lapses: - Housekeeping Failure: A used trash bag was left next to the bathroom sink, an immediate sign of incomplete and improper cleaning. - Missing Linens: The bathroom towel, hand towel, and bathmat were all removed and not replaced. - Poor Service Recovery: Attempts to contact the front desk were met with repeated declines or being placed on hold. It took over 20 minutes for my call to be answered, and another 20 minutes for housekeeping to arrive. The staff member who delivered the items seemed clearly displeased when I asked for the left trash bag to be removed. Even then, only two of the three missing towels were brought. - Maintenance Issues: The room showed signs of neglect, including damaged wallpaper and ceiling defects. Crucially, the balcony door seal is faulty and requires immediate fixing, as a significant draft was noticeable even before the stormy weather began. These failures in both core service delivery and guest communication are unacceptable for a four-star property.

Well worth stopping for a few nights. Amazing food/ restaurant. Pool complex was divine... very Scandinavian. Rooms lovely. Staff couldn't do enough. Great restaurant staff and front desk. Be prepared to drag your suitcase up the stairs.

Visited the hotel for a romantic weekend. Infrastructure great, food also, and service is really friendly. I have to said that we have paid extra da wellness and this was not the best experience. To many people on it. Noise, kids blocking the jacuzzi for an hour, no place to site or to go and you can not really profite from a wellness moment. We waited one hour and half to have some place to sit or relax but there was so many people that we had an impression of being in a public pool. e decided to leave. All was great in the hotel but the fact we have taken the wellness to relax it was not really a relax moment. Recommend for meetings, restaurant, or a quick slip in but for couples it was not the best experience

Great location for a relaxing stop. Very comfortable, clean and pretty rooms. The staff in the restaurant was super super kind but the food was terrible. Looked pretty enough but tastless. More like canteen food. We even both felt nauseous the next day. We will stay again but definitely not eat.

Nice clean hotel and the staff is friendly. Beautiful decorations. The food in the restaurant is delicious and their breakfast is good too. I only wished that it was a little closer to the city.
