Van der Valk Hotel Ridderkerk is a solid and convenient choice for business travel. I stayed in a spacious top-floor room featuring a king-size bed and a large bathroom with a jacuzzi — a very comfortable setup overall. Service was generally good, though the standout was a young, charming hotel trainee who provided truly exceptional service — professional, attentive, and warm. While the hotel’s website advertises a fitness area, it’s somewhat misleading: there are only a few pieces of equipment — a couple of exercise bikes, one treadmill, and one rowing machine — awkwardly placed in the middle of the large atrium surrounded by guest rooms. Breakfast was busy but offered a generous variety of options. Room service was quick and easy to order, and the restaurant, although quite loud and crowded, delivered friendly service and good food at fair prices. The main drawback was the elevator situation: there are only two, and one was out of order throughout my week-long stay. At peak times, waiting could take up to ten minutes — fine if you’re traveling light, but inconvenient with luggage or when in a hurry. My room was also very warm and the AC didn’t work, I could sleep with the small window open even though the highway outside makes it fairly noisy.

I had an amazing stay at this hotel! The staff was incredibly attentive and made everything feel seamless from check-in to check-out. The place was clean, and the modern, stylish interior gave it such a cool vibe. Breakfast was a major highlight, there were so many options, and everything was fresh and delicious. I really appreciated the little details that made the experience feel thoughtful and comfortable. Would absolutely stay here again!

My experience at this hotel was wonderful. The staff were really nice and helped with anything we needed. The hotel was beautiful and very clean, which made it easy to relax. Breakfast was the best part. There were so many options, and everything tasted great. I looked forward to it every morning. I’d recommend this hotel to anyone and would absolutely stay again!

The hotel is okay, not bad, not exeptional. Although the room was clean and tidy, there was a chair we dared not sit in because of how dirty it was. Breakfast was 10/10.

Hotel is great, but I've had several bad experiences in the restaurant, like this one a couple of months ago: I ordered the satai chicken, but although the sauce tasted good, the consistency was off. I checked the next bite and noticed it was almost completely raw... I complained to a young waiter, who said he would check with the kitchen. I never heard from him again. I then finally got hold of our main waiter and complained. The conversation went like this: Me: My chicken is raw... Waiter: So, do you want a new one? Me: Yes.. Waiter: Do you want it well done? Me: It's chicken..... Waiter: So, well done..? Me: Anything else would be dangerous to eat, so, yes... I've seen this waiter there over several years, so he's been a waiter for a while. How can a waiter not know that you don't order medium or raw chicken...?

Amazing experience on our 10 day vacation. The breakfast was the best breakfast buffet I've ever had. Everything was fresh and tasty. The rooms were perfect and exactly what we needed. The staff were all friendly and the service was top notch.

A great hotel, with lovely spacious, clean, and quiet rooms. A very good restaurant. And a great base for exploring the surrounding area.

Yelp
Unfortunately this will be our last visit to this restaurant, we have been several times over the last few years and sort of forget that it wasn't great last time but enough is enough. We had no reservations but it wasn't a problem, we were escorted into the vicinity of a table and the hostess sort of pointed to it. She did this with other guests too. Not actually going to the table, just pointing from a distance. No " enjoy your meal" or " enjoy your evening ", she just wonders off. After 15 min of sitting there she passed by and I asked if we could maybe see a menu, and order some drinks. She looked confused and asked if nobody had come to see us. Clearly not or I wouldn't be asking. She then came back with menus and a minute or so later a waiter to take our drinks order. We all ( 3 of us) ordered the same starter with two people ordering the same main and I chose a different one. I asked for the wine list. Only two reds available by the glass. I asked which one my mother was already drinking. I ordered the other one. I also asked for some tap water for the table but was told they couldn't start doing that so I asked for three glasses. My mother and my wine were brought out, it's the same one! I had to ask for the tap water again after 10 min. We are still waiting for our main course. It's brought out, mine and one of the other two dishes. Third one not ordered. Waiter who took the order didn't seem too bothered when his colleague told him. Manager comes out. Sort of apologises, says the other main will be there in about 4 min. That's fine. I explain that the whole experience hasn't been that great, she says she's going to kick the kids ass ( Ik zal hem eens op zijn donder geven.) seriously? That's what you say to a guest. Main comes, food is fine. We are offered a free coffee. We order desert with coffee. Coffee comes after desert. I go and pay ( no mobile card system, pay by card, walk to the busk station). Another waiter is helping me, i check the bill, coffees still on there. He needs to check, comes back and says: " you were telling the truth "...... last straw... The prices in this place aren't "a quick cheap bite" kind of thing. Main course about €20. Cheapest bottle of red on the menu $35. The service should match......
